Was a small venue for such a large sounding band but it was the best show!!! Dirty birds are in full swing and Sister Sparrow has a Stratavarius for a voice!!! She is one in a billion!!!

Great show, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds had more fun together and were tighter than any band I have seen recently. I highly recommend catching these guys live if you like to get your dance on!

I really loved the show. Both sets were stacked with powerful and talented artists. The lead singers of Armies - Dave Gutter & Anna Lombard - both sat in with Sister Sparrow out of Brooklyn for some seriously killer collabs! My favorite show of the year, by far. Well done by all!! Bravo!!!

This was my first time seeing this band on the recommendation of a friend. Loved the show! The band are all terrific musicians playing with fire and passion, and the front woman lives up to her billing--just amazing.

What a show! This band has great energy and the whole crowd was rocking (well, except for the girl sleeping on her feet next to us. I think that had more to do with the drugs than the music).

Quickly becoming one of the most exciting live shows around. Sister Sparrow gets the whole crowd rocking and dancing and things never slow down. The energy is so high that you can forget that each individual member of this 7 piece band is strong. Arleigh is the center of attention much of the time as she should be but when you focus on anyone else at any moment, they are always playing hard and delivering as if the spotlight was on their hands. The band is as tight as Tedeschi Trucks or Trombone Shorty and that is setting the bar on the highest rung. This is a true Rock and Roll band with a huge dose of top flight New Orleans style R&B woven into every song.

Sister Sparrow rocked it and having all those instruments as back up brought an electric atmosphere. Her bro on the harmonica was rad too. Girl is Janis Joplin reincarnated.

This was the first time i saw them live. I was surprised that they played about a 2 hour show. The music was amazing and they performed very well. I think they played both of their albums in their entirety.

This band is on fire! They played a small jersey shore club like it was the stage at MSG. Harp, horns & the singer!! I'll be seeing them every chance I get & I recommend you do the same if you like real music!

they were a great band and played for 1 hr 15 minutes. Talk about getting your moneys worth! She is a great performer and dancer, above average singer. Very funky with the horns. Turn up the harp player though.

We were planning our annual visit to Portland from NJ, and trying to include a concert in the itinerary. We saw that SS & TDB were playing and, though we've never heard of them, thought we'd give them a listen. They were really good!! The crowd was much younger than us, but we all enjoyed the music. Vocals were strong, band was excellent. Glad we went!!

Most rock acts have the guitar, base, percussion. Some add the harmonica. Throw in a three man horn section and a diminutive singer with the voice no amount of sound can overpower and you have a super sonic party. This was the third show of theirs i've seen this year, and they keep gettihg better.

Parking across the street, quick and personable bartenders, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds can really rock the house. What more could a person ask for?! Best show of the year.

Well first thing is the sound was terrible, and it seems mostly to be the bands fault as the opening bands sounded great, Sister Sparrow played too loud and the sound just got really distorted in Irving plaza. this is my second time seeing the band, and frankly I think they are good but not great. I will not pay to see them again. Perhaps they can win me back at some festival or something.

Before I gush about the headliner, I must give a very honorable mention to Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band. This was my first time seeing them live and - whoa - I will definitely be seeing them the next time they're in NYC. Now onto SSDB... A few years ago, I had the good fortune to learn of the existence of a powerhouse of funk, ska, reggae, and R&B, fronted by a tiny, doe-eyed, and perplexingly humble woman with a voice the size of at least a continent or two. Just one look at 8 scraggily, well-seasoned musicians supporting a stunning, uncaged Rainbow Lorikeet with a voice that would make Aretha Franklin say Damn! That girl can sing! will convince you: You need to get hip to Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds. Having been first introduced, seeing them perform on the barely-big-enough-to-fit-them-all stage at Rockwood Music Hall in 2008, I never could have imagined I would eventually - in the course of the past year - see them 6 times on some of the biggest stages on the East Coast. As The Dirty Birds began to take the audience on a climb up the euphonious stratosphere in anticipation of the crown jewel of hardcore Brooklyn funk, Sister Sparrow, I was mesmerized by the wicked harmonica riffs of Jackson Kincheloe, the face-melting shreds of Sasha Brown's guitar, backed up by some of the tightest percussion, bass, and horn sections I've ever had the pleasure to experience. As Arleigh Kicheloe (Sister Sparrow herself) gracefully fluttered to the stage, so did my heart and soul. It was show time, and I was in the front row. They proceeded to perform the quintessential set list to show off their classics as well as give us Birdheads a glimpse of their next album (being produced by Randy Jackson, btw). It was almost as if someone had been writing down every song I had requested- via my facebook and twitter status messages over the last few weeks. I could not have been happier with the song choices. The more I see them and allow their music to course through my veins, the more I can t help but feel like a Kincheloe, or at least a close family friend.

They are even better, tighter, more polished, yet at the same time grittier and more funky than they were when I saw them about a year and a half ago.

Overall, a good time! The band was solid, but as my date pointed out, Sister Sparrow shouldered a lot of responsibility for providing THE entertainment value. The lady has moves though...so, so sexy!

I thought they were very original. They were pretty easy on the ears (compared to some bands) and they had a very talented group of musicians. The opener Sirsy is a two man (or should I say man-woman) band with amazing talent too. I would definitely go again, if not just to see that harmonica solo one more time! :)

This concert was absolutely fabulous and I'm not entirely surprised because Bowery ballroom is undoubtedly one of the best venues in new York city. This was my second time there and the sound was perfect, it wasn't too crowded, and sister sparrow ad her dirty birds were mind blowingly talented. I feel bad for whomever hasn't experienced their music. And live was just ten times better than listening to the studio versions
