I attended 2017 Festival with two boys (11 & 7). We loved the atmosphere of the festival but found the majority of the artist disappointing.

Great show - very energetic. Gary Clarke Jr opened with a fantastic set. Brittany Howard rocked the rest of the time. Just all around great show and entertaining time. Chicano Batman and then Preservation Hall Jazz Band opened - also two super, lively, and very entertaining groups.

Show was great - thanks to the artists. - Once you enter, you can't leave the venue. Yes, this seems like a ridiculous rule, and I'm not really sure what it accomplishes. - Ridiculously overpriced beers. I pad $7 for a DogFish Head beer at the XPNFest, and then walked to the BB&T to find that the same beer was $16!!! - No enforcement of the "no high back chair" rule clearly posted on the website.

WXPN really cares about its members and creates a weekend festival (in Wiggins Park) that is not commercial, friendly and high energy. Members always get free water and drinks but it was nice that they set up water stations for non members too. They are always great about trying to make the experience better.

Excellent performers!!!! However, the venue was hard to get to, and had poor lines of sight to the performers (annoying security lady stood in the way 90% of the show). When I tried to move further back so I could see (80% of seats near me were empty she told me I had to move back to my seat, even though no one ever sat in that seat). If security is going to stand through whole show, please train them to be respectful or don't sell the seats they impact. If it had been a customer standing, she would have told them to sit down. Unnecessarily disrespectful... Further, both times I went to the restroom my seat was taken upon return (1st row), seems like security was selective on their enforcement too :( I definitely will NOT return to this venue, my first and last time!!!

This was easily one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Double headliner as far as I am concerned. Venue had everything you need and bathroom lines weren't absurd. All in all a success. Parking attendants could have been a little more helpful.

Can't beat the talent for the money at this festival, and it was well worth it to splurge on the BBC to get seats inside for the night time shows

I've been an XPN member for ages and this was my upteenth festival! An amazing experience, as expected. I've never been disappointed by the musical choices at the festival, but I'm hoping that Fr. John Misty will not be asked to attend again. That being said I dont know what I enjoyed more: the ambience, the people, the music or the venue itself. It was great to see old friends from past festivals and to add more to my FB familiy. LOVED to see the metamorphous of the mural throughout the 3 days...very cool!!!

Can't even begin to describe this fantastic event. Highly recommend for families ..... I have twin boys that are 6 years old and a seven year old daughter. They had a blast! The Children's Garden was the perfect break for them in-between music sets.

The XPN festival remains one of my favorite annual concerts after going for over 20 years. WXPN continues to put together a line-up of new and well-known artists which wow the audience. This year was no exception. It's a truly organized festival (to the point where they pre-arranged Friday night's music to accommodate possible rain storms which fortunately never materialized.) My favorites this year included Rhianna Giddons, The Record Company, David Bromberg Quintet, Wilco, Spoon, and Amos Lee with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. I look forward to another fantastic festival next year.

Three days of music and fabulous performances blessed by beautiful weather...mostly...made for an exceptional time at the annual XPN music fest. Not a disappointing act on the bill but major Kudos to The Record Company, David Bromberg Quintet, Drive By Truckers, Wilco, Chicano Batman, and Hurray for the Riff Raff.

Great festival this year. Everyone was amazing. The highlights for me wer Spoon who put on an amazing high ebnergy show that had me up the whole set. Rhianna Giddens was great. So unique and such an amazing voice. Adia Victoria had a great set. Such a wonderful talent and so young, I can't wait to see how her career grows.

What a great, well planned out event. Everything was organized including parking which could have been a huge problem if not set up correctly. I was so pleased with the friendly volunteers and information available. The music was so enjoyable and Tim from "Strand of Oaks" gets the award for really bringing positive energy to the crowd and encouraging unity. Just a beautiful experience.

Everyone should become a member and support WXPN. Their choice of music is incredible. The festival is a must see event...I do not think there are words in the dictionary to express the overall feeling one receives from experiencing this show.

Xpn does a great job making sure the audience has a good time. Food and beverages are reasonable, water is available for free so you can stay hydrated, and the crowd is always the best. Saturday's music was the best....Record company, The Sufferers,Amos Lee and Preservation Hall Band......

Caliber of music was the poorest of past years. Getting tired of some of the repeat band and their Messages...I prefer some of them leave their message at home. Not the proper place to push politics or agendas. It seems band are pushed based on their liberal views rather than their talent. Disappointed Friday had to be change due to the treat of weather and the overly anamated weather forecasters. Friday was slow and some great up and coming bands were unnecessarily cut. No river stage..Why??

This is by far the best 3 day music festival that I have been too. You have time to see every band that plays each day. The stages are close enough that you don't even have to move far or at all to see the Marina stage vs the River stage. The artists are terrific. Some even do a meet and greet for members of the station. It is a family friendly environment. My favorite acts for the 2017 line up were.... Friday - Offa Rex and Wilco. Loved seeing Foxygen, Stand of Oaks, Charles Bradley and then Spoon was off the hook at BB&T. Sunday was all about Davy Knowles for me as well as The Record Company and Drive By Truckers. If you haven't gone to this event in the past make a note to do so in 2018!

I didn't go to the big house @ nite, but really enjoyed the 4 bands with horns, who played @ Wiggins Park: The Suffers on the Marina Stage, then Ben Arnold, The Revivalists & Preservation Hall Jazz Band, who played the River Stage. The Father John Misty episode was ridiculous, esp. during the XPN Fest.

Ryan Adams was in a great mood Friday night. Sunday night was the trio of ladies (everybody singing along), Old Crowe Medicine Show (everybody dancing) and Brandi Carlyle (everybody rocking).

First off let me say that you need to become a member of WXPN to reap all of the benefits that this festival has to offer. Two of the best perks are the 1/2 price tickets or free depending on the size of your donation, and the artist meet and greets. This is such a fan friendly festival that I was like a giddy little school girl meeting some of my favorite artists. The headliners were also exceptional as Gary Clark Jr melted faces just before the hurricane called the Alabama Shakes came out and blew everyone away. The following night was a ho down and then some when Old Crow Medicine Show had the entire audience dancing the night away before Brandi Carlyle swooned our hearts. This was my third year in a row and as long as I'm alive I will return every year after.

There were lots of super memorable moments, great music. The Weather was brutal and I don't understand why this event needs to be held in July. The heat and humidity are completely predictable. The thunderstorm that had us all running for cover on Saturday afternoon was potentially as dangerous, and as predictable, as the heat.

I felt like I was transported back in time to when the Music was old time blues and Brittany Howard sings with such soul that I could FEEL her pain and emotions. She's like a mix of Janis/Aretha/Odetta. Few women are so powerful and willing to bear they soul so completely as she. And the rest of the band makes it all so emotionally real. The lyrics are strong and relatable, some up and fun, others so sad I was moved to tears. Gary C Clark, Jr plays the blues like the old timers - Muddy Waters, BB King, Buddy Guy. Guitar solos that you don't want to end.

The WXPN team did an amazing job of organizing the music weekend!! The entire lineup was also amazing! Almost every detail of the festival weekend seemed to be well thought out and was executed in a stellar fashion! The XPN staff, the volunteers, the sponsors, the Camden County folks and (not to be forgotten) the musicians are to be congratulated! The parking lot location on day one was a bit inconvenient. It seemed like the furtherist lot from the venue was designated at the XPN lot?? Whoever decides that part of things might want to rethink that part next year? The BB&T Pavilion is staffed by polite individuals. They do their job, I m sure, as instructed. When Old Hippie Bill buys a premium seat he hopes to sit. When folks stand up in front there is no flexibility to move to a seat where one can sit and watch the show. BB&T needs to accommodate concert goers who wish to sit. Overall, though, I m ready to go back again! Thanks!!

We were not happy with the festival. We wanted to go on sat to see Felce Brothers, David Wax and Josh Ritter. We got tickets for Saturday for $35 each. We saw two Felice Brothers songs before the PA had problems. Then the concert was rained out during the first song of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Two of the three acts we came to see did not go on, and the one that did only played two songs. The PA issue is not acceptable. Yes, you cannot change the weather, but you could offer refunds or at least make the ticket good for the next day. We were very disappointed.

I attended the Friday and Saturday sessions and had a great time! Lot's of great music and only one performer - the Preservation Hall Jazz Band - had I seen before. Alabama Shakes were my favorite, but also loved Gary Clarke Jr, Ryan Adams, the Suffers, the Revivalists and The Record Company. Only negatives were the violent storm late Saturday afternoon and the Father John Misty non-performance - very unfair to the audience. The venue was great and the food was diverse and reasonably priced.

Always a great 3 day festival that my husband and I look forward every year at the end of July. Very well organized and family friendly with an awesome array of artists from all genres of music from very well known acts such as the great Mavis Staples this year to obscure up and coming artists. It was especially hot this year, but they take care of you, as they do every year with misting tents. Some problems this year, weather being one with a very heavy thunderstorm, but the weather you cannot control. They had to stop the concert hoping it would quickly pass over, but in the end, 3 acts had to be cancelled including Josh Ritter. Before the storm, the concert was also stopped due to sound problems during The Felice Brothers set. Turns out it was generator problems and another backup one had to be brought it. It was pretty cool of The Felice Brothers to go out in the crowd and play unplugged.Low point, and this has never happened before, artist Father John Misty came on and ranted in a tirade full with the F Bomb every 5 seconds it seemed. He was booed and jeered and did only 3 songs, said he had no more, and walked off stage with another half hour to go. Needless to say, we learned that he will never ever be invited back and I doubt the station will ever play his music again. All in all, artists and the crowd always loves this festival.
