Sure, The Grass Roots only had one original member but it was the leader, and The Raiders brought back Paul Revere's son, but the songs were right on, even The Raiders choreography was evocative of "Where the Action Is." My mother and I would tape (reel to reel!) Paul Revere and The Raiders, as well as The Monkees, and mail them to my father and uncle in Viet Nam. So, this show had a lot of extra meaning for me ....

HippieFest was amazing, when I purchased the tickets I didn't even know what I was getting but I was all about anything with the name Hippie. When I looked up the artists I was excited and so amazed at the beautiful memories that came back while they played the good ole songs from way back when!! The vendors were awesome and the audience full of "hippies" and their attire was so much fun, loved it all! I'll definitely attend another one when I see one scheduled somewhere and I'll bring more hippie friends!!

Show was worth every penny of the $50 ticket price! Started with Bad Company, then Mitch Ryder, next up was Rare Earth and they rocked the house! Cream was next, a bit disappointing as he only sang one song I ever heard....Best was saved for last...WAR!!! I was out of my seat singing and dancing to War's greatest hits medley, everything from Cisco Kid to Why Can't we be Friends? I would go see this show again and again!!

Hippiefest 2010 at Fraze was an great show. Every act was good. We heard all of the groups big hits. Lineup was: Badfinger Mitch Ryder Rare Earth Jack Bruce War War brought down the house. Too bad Fraze has an 11PM noise ordinance law to contend to. They turned off the PA system about 5 minutes before War was done. No chance for an encore.

The 60's brought forth a new era in music, and it's legacy continued Friday night at Fraze Pavillion. From the opening notes of Badfinger's best 2-minute sing-a-long melodies, to the thrill of legend Mitch Ryder, the dynamics of the flute and sax driven groove of Rare Earth and the Hall of Fame power of Jack Bruce's bass--Kettering had to literally "pull the plug" on War to stop this their most memorable set of Platinum hits ! They left the stage with everyone dancing all the way to their cars--what a GREAT showcase of rock history !

While it might get old for the musicians to repeat the same twenty minutes each night, it makes for a great concert. All five acts - War, Jack Bruce, Mitch Ryder, Rare Earth and Joey Molland (Badfinger) - played familiar hits, and delivered them in syles that rivaled their primes. It was still a 3 1/2 hour show (without much time in between acts), and was extremely enjoyable.

It was a good concert and wished it could have started during the day on a Saturday or Sunday so each band could have played longer. My only disappointment was Rare Earth doing a Temptations song in memory of Norman Whitfield. I understand the reason they wanted to pay tribute to one of Motown's best but with the limited time they had to play, I wanted to hear their music not someone elses. With that said, I would still recommend the concert to anyone that loves this era of music!

Great show; it was nice to see the old school groups in such good harmony; brought back lots of good memories. The only problem was the name of the event! It's not a hippie show; these were rock-in-roll, jazz-funk, and R&B boys at their best.

All of the musicians were great but with five groups scheduled it really cut into the play time for each. I hate going to the Fraze though. The last band, War, was playing and at 11 sharp the power was cut to the amps. I think it's very unfortunate that the Fraze operates in this manner. I would recommend this event but not the venue.

Enjoyed the fact that these guys still LOVE performing so, so much! They put so much joy into their performances....especially Rare Earth :). Kudos to the lead guitarist, who performed with so many of the acts! His skills were legendary. **With the video running behind, it would be great if they ran early, band pics and videos of each performing group. ***The Fraze....absolutely NO BETTER VENUE.

This is the third time I've seen HippieFest and I mostly enjoyed it. War was tight and sounded great just like back in the day I'm sure. It was good to see a legand like Jack bruce, he still has it. Rare Earth could hold a show of thier own. The one sad point was Bad Finger. Same four songs and same George Harrison story. Ho Hum. Dont rush to get to the concert first. Skip Bad Finger and tailgate ih the parking lot a little longer. Less lame groups and longer sets. PEACE. AND LOVE.

This was our 3rd Hippifest. The 1st two Hippifests were great! So off we went, and we were dressed the part. The Theater is beautiful! The ushers couldn't have been more wonderful. Rick Derringer couldn't have been better. Then came Family Stone. They were my reason for going to this show. Too much talk, too many references to how the new lead singer is daughter of Sly & Cynthia (once was enough), high pitch mike problems, broken mike problems. Being I love music like I do, I danced and made the best of it, but feel they should have had more Hippies in the lineup, and in the audience! The audience needed Geritol!!!!!! What a bunch of bores :(
We have gone to Hippiefest every year. With the Turtles headlining, the shows were always great. This year it was simply lackluster. The sound system at the Broward Center was pretty poor. Not only did we think so, but we heard several comments to back this up. Rick Derringer was fine but his musicians were average; not of high professional quality. Mitch Ryder was his cool, personable self. Family Stone was a group of talented musicians. My husband, a very talentedbass/keyboard player has been in bands on and off since he was 18.. He felt the harmonies were poor and just did not enjoy where he enjoyed all other Hippiefests.
Where do I begin? I have never written a negative concert review in my life. I always seem to find something positive. Nothing was positive at this concert. The Family Stone should be ashamed to use that name. They need to follow Sly into oblivion. To try to recreate the group's hits you need a bass singer. Larry Graham was an integral part of that group. These guys can't cut it. The lead guy does look like Sly but other than the meaningless rant, has nothing else in common with the musical genius. The guy from Badfinger seems to have confused Paul McCartney with George Harrison. My advise to anyone contemplating buying a ticket, stay home and listen to a CD.
An amazing evening. Rick Derringer and Jose, the amazing bass guitar player, were by themselves worth the price of admission. What talent. I'm still buzzing.
These guys can't sing anymore. One guy sang really well. I think that was Mr. Derringer. The drummer and the guitar players with him at the beginning of the concert were excellent. CC Rider can't sing anymore. Just can't hit those notes. The Family Stone would be good if they played something with a different beat. The first song they started with was the same beat for a good, what seemed like, 10-minutes. We left early. Couldn't take anymore.
Amazing amount of talent reunited on one stage!!!! Audience was up and dancing at their seats throughout the show! I closed my eyes and was back 46 years at Woodstock! Incredible evening!
We were not sure what to expect, no crowd at all.....THEIR LOSS....WOW ..... From the first note we were truly entertained, amazed and yes ROCKED....back to our youth.... If you have the dime and the time , do not miss this show I am so glad we had the opportunity to listen to Rick Derringer, Mitch Ryder, Joey Molland and The Family Stone....The memories this music evoked in both of us and those around us...too cool...and performers....Oh yeah...they are on... Thanks to Florida Theater for bringing this great show to town....awesome night!

This was the 3rd year I have attended the Hippiefest in Daytona. The first Hippiefest I attended was 2010 with the "Happy Together Tour". It was fantastic and I couldn't hardly wait for 2011. In 2011 I was a little disappointed because most of the music was more HARD rock, but I did enjoy most of the concert. I actually was not going to attend this year because of the line-up and knowing it would be a lot of HARD rock again, but at the last minute I decided to but tickets and go. Unfortunately I was right about it being mostly HARD rock and so loud it distorted the vocal parts. Unless they have groups like the Turtles, Association, Buckinghams, Monkeys, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Brooklin Bridge, or similar groups I probable will not attend next year.

The concert was worth braving the rain and winds of Tropical Storm Isaac. All of the featured peformers sounded great musically. I was most suprised by how great a guiter player Rick Derringer is. Hearing Hang on Sloopy was one of the highlights for me. I underestimated the talents of Johnny and Edgar Winter. Why I wasn't into their music in their prime is one of my great mysteries of life. I'm a huge fan now. I saw Savoy Brown at Max's Kansas City back in the day and Kim Simmonds can still rock the house. Overall, an awesome night of music. The only negatives were that the sound was very loud, especially the base drum, and the singers mikes were not very crisp, so it was difficult to hear the words. Lastly, why is the tour called Hippiefest? Where were the Dead, New Riders, and Airplane.

The Hippiefest (which might've been better called " blues night" ) was really great. It was such a treat to see Johnny and Edgar Winter play together at one venue and, being an old Savoy Brown fan, I was so thrilled to see Kim Simmonds. It would've been nice for them to have had a little more time to play, so we could've heard a few more favorites though. Edgar is very much the talented entertainer and, as always, Johnny never disappoints. Rick Derringer was also really good, just not much time on stage. I hope they come back again next year-- I'll be there and will bring more friends, who wished they had gone.

All performers were great! Sorry that Leslie West was not able to perform. Opening band was the lead to Savoy Brown, a group that I've heard of but never really got into back in the day. But with that said, he did a nice job, put on a great show. Even though the songs were new to me, he rocked it out like a pro for about 30 minutes. Then Rick Derringer performed, did some good opening stuff but Hang on Sloopy and of course Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo brought the house down! He did Still Alive and Well that I expected Johnny to do. Also about 30 minutes on stage. Then Edgar Winter Group came on, did some great stuff with the guitar player mimmicking his voice. Of course did a bunch of his stuff and then the monster came out, Frankenstein!! Played for a while, and hour or so. The guy is so talented, sings, played the keyboard, synthesizer, sax, drums, wow and was spot on. Band was great too, they actually played for most of the night between the performers. Then it seemed the show was over, I thought Johnny was not coming out?? But after a few minutes things started to get going again and the band came out, Johnny walked out and played standing and sitting for about an hour! Time and age have taken its toll on him but he played like a true professional and rocked the place!! Only negative unrelated to the concert was the casino allows smoking and really smelled like an ash tray as soon as you walk in and you have to walk thru but the concert pavillion was smoke free and clean :)

The venue is a new one at the Seminole Coconut Creek, and its set up sideways, with the designer thinking that everyone will be in a low sounding row. Problem is that its almost twice as wide as its deep, so if you have a side seat, you might as well sit at a slot machine and listen through an open door. Now about the show, it was not a hippie anything, as the artists were all mostly blues acts. Rick Derringer pulled out two of his hits along with his classic from 1965, Hang on Sloopy. Edger Winter, played basicly the same set he has played with Ringo and the Alstars, with Frankenstein in great form. Simmons from Savoy Brown, played some of his stuff and lastly, announced like the rest of the acts, by a canned announcer, which was ridiculous, was Johnny Winter, who could barely go. His playing and singing has gotten worse over the years due to illness. He closed the show, Leslie West was a no show after have a double amputee of both of his legs. Unfortunatly, he was the only tie to hippie, or the lack thereof.

I go back to 1968 with all these guys and to see them out on the stage at this age playing out their brains was very heart warming> However , I bought front row seats just to see Leslie West, espedially after he lost his leg. And he was a no show. Leslie was the Headliner in Mountain, and they rained Headliner for years. All these other bands were undercards for Mountain. Anyway my wife and I stayed for the whole show anyway, and we enjoyed it. Egar Winter is a true band leader with talent and the house Bass guitar and Drummer were very good for the amount of time that they had to prepair for each guest they were great. I have never been to that place before and If they get the right rock groups I will go every time. Try to get Mark Farner , he was the Leader of Grand Funk Railroad, the group that has the rights to that name stinks. Mark is and will always be the leader of that group. ( They sold out Shea stadium in NY faster than the Beatles in 1969.)Hey guys I hear you can get him for the right price and you will have a packed house if you just get him and advertise him as the Leader or the Grand Funk Railroad Band. Anyway for a Hurricane evening and the disapointment of Leslie West as a no show we had a good time.

First, this was not Hippie music, but much of it was good rock n roll. Second, at an event with this title there was no place for Rick Derringer to sings songs about his born again experience, and glorify war, and talk about the need for a strong military, he would have been booed off the stage in the 60's. Overall it was overpriced and lacked any kind of "feeling" to it, save your money and buy old music if you want a 60's experience.

I must say I was bummed out that Leslie West cancelled and did'nt show, I was really looking forward to seeing him. Kim Simmons opened the show and he was Great. I was impressed on how he played guitar. Rick Derringer came out next. and was good. He did the usual Rock N Roll Hoochie Koo & Hang On Sloopy among others. He gave recognition to the Military which was first class. Edgar Winter was next and did Free Ride and Frankenstein of course. He was better than I thought he would be and his band backed up Rick D. and Kim S.. His guys deserve a big hand, they were tight and good. Johnny Winter headlined, he was better than I expected also. When he played Jumpin' Jack Flash, Edgar, Rick & Kim came out to jam on the song. Johnnys voice and playing were real good and his band was spot-on, his bass player is fantastic. A very good show overall but Leslie West was sorely missed. Hope he is well.

Leslie West was a no-show which was a major disappointment. Kim Simmonds of Savoy Brown played a good set. Rick Derringer was excellent as always. Edgar Winter stole the show and his Band was very powerful. Johnny Winter played a great slide guitar on 2 of his numbers but was clearly past his prime (painfully so at times) on his other songs.

Phenomenal oldies show with iconic performers singing some of Rock's all time favorites. Dave Mason, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, sounded as good as he did 30 years ago, performing one of Rock's most covered songs, "Feelin; All Right", which he wrote at age 19! Rick Derringer shredding the guitar and belting out "Rock and Roll, Hootchie Koo". Felix Cavalierre and The Rascals' "Groovin'" and "People Got to Be Free" sounded better than it did coming right out of my tape deck "back in the day". And Mark Farner, THE voice of Grand Fund Railroad, a perpetual motion machine, gave a non-stop rockin; performance of some of GFR's classics, "I'm your Captain" and "I'm in Love With A Girl".

So much fun! I went back in time to a wonderful place. I love the outside festival, seeing everyone in their "hippie attire", laughing and enjoying themselves. The music, the vendors, the food and drink.....so nice. As a classic VW lover looking at the cars is always a treat. I wish more people would show their cars! The more VW's the better! And of course the line up of entertainment is always superb! The talent that came out of the 60's and 70's can't be matched! Dance to the music!!!! I'm already looking forward to next year. Went because I wanted to see Mark Farner - always wanted to see GFR as a group back when...but I never did. Never had the money when I was that age. Any how...I was very suprised how good Felix and Rick playes and their voices were amazing. I didn't want to hear Gary Wrights Dream Weaver...not one of my fav. songs - but all the other songs he sang rocked - from Spooky Tooth. Sorry to say I am handi-capped and had to left as Dave Mason came on, my knee was killing me and my back. I got to the car and rolled down the window to listen, Was worth every penny. First time to the Fraze and was not really happy with how tight the seating is. I am about 6 ft. If I was 6'5" it would have be very uncomfortable. And the angle from row to row could be at more of an angle - I had a hard time seeing and we were in row O. I guess about 20 rows back. I would have to ask for better handi cap arrangements. The people working the show could not be nicer and helpful. Very nice. Check in was rather harsh. I brought a CD in just in case I would be able to get an autograph, they almost made me take it back to the car, I questioned their logic and walked in. Want to go to more shows in the future. I wish they all would have played more than 4 songs or so...it was a teaser.

A cool summer night a the Greek Theatre with a bunch of hippies. Felix opened the show and had us all Groov'in on a Thursday night. He still works that Hammond B3 like it was yesterday. Derringer was next and opened with Still Alive and Well which it didnt look like he was enjoying himself ? Once Mark Farner hit the stage to "Foot Stomp'in Music' He never sit still.....stole the show. Dave Mason....did all the hits and brought everyone back out for a jam on "Feel'in Alright" and by the end of the that night thats just how everyone was feeling.

Well.....if you cover your eyes and see how all the musicians that you worshiped when you were 16 who are now 65, overweight and bald....the fact of the matter is that they still make great music. Mark Farner (Grand Funk Railroad) totally stole the show. His music and hits endure the millennium and his part of the show was a total rocker. He has all eyes on him as he struts back and forth. Rick Derringer showed he still had what it takes. He had a lot of hits and told some great stories to the audience who seemed to love it. Dave Mason was still good but wow he's aged. Kind of looked like a ghost. Gary Wright really made no impact what so ever and most likely should have been left out of the show. All in all really fun and a great night at Humphrey's by the Bay in San Diego

The show was a gas. Everyone there was rocking and the groups were outstanding. Age hasn't seemed to slow any of the groups. War was amazing; Rare Earth was outta sight; Jack was, well, Jack; Rare Earth was as good as I have heard live in a long time and I am now a fan of Bad Finger. Can't wait for next year. Even more hippie garb will be worn next year.

Less vendors than in past years. Outside band was very entertaining.Evening concert left much to be desired. Music was inconsistently loud for each group. The only group where the music was set right was the 1910 Fruit gum Co.Left the concert early....

Bought tickets months ago anticipating seeing Peter Rivera, assuming he was the headliner. Peter came out early, was FANTASTIC as I expected him to be, but played for about 10 minutes and was gone. We assumed that was a "warm up" and that he would return. Not to be. The rest of the concert consisted of old, second rate bands like the 1910 Fruitgum Company, Paul Revere's Raiders (?), The Grass Roots and The Cyrkle. It seems the timing was off, performers seemed a bit angry with the crew. other than the 10 minutes of Peter Rivera, worst concert I ever attended..

All the shows were good, but Paul Reveres Raiders were amazing. I felt they were the best there. Cyrkle was terrible. The lead singers voice wasn't good. Off Key. I liked Peter Rivera from Rare Earth. He was pretty good with his drumming and singing. Having the Raiders play with him was very special. Didn't like that the Grass Roots played so long. We ended up leaving the show early, because I didn't know most of the songs. I had seen them many times when Rob Grill was alive, but I felt this time was boring. Mark sings okay, but just long..

Love the Peabody! Cirquel"s first show in 50 years was good. Peter Rivera's show was out of this world. He had the place rocking. At first I was afraid I wouldn't like him but his drum playing and singing was fantastic. His show was worth the money by itself. 1910 Fruitgum Co. was good but they only sang a few songs. The Raiders as always did a good show. Last but not least The Grass Roots was a show in itself. Great songs and many of them ,along with great entertainment. Love the Hippyfest, keep the bands coming. Please start getting new groups instead of the same old ones. This was a nice new mix, but the show coming in the spring has groups that we have seen a few times. What happened to Flo and Eddie and the Happy Together Tour? We miss them. Thanks for bringing the old groups back to Daytona, we love them.

I thoroughly enjoyed the concert and each band sounded great although it wasn't as good as they did back in the 60's. It was great hearing some of the songs of my teen years especially the ones that I had forgotten. I would definitely do this again.

My wife and I are younger, in my 30's but we have always loved Hippie events and festivals but this was a concert of groups who never really made it back in the day of the beetles and you can clearly see why. The main singer was 75 years old and the group was terrible. The spent most of their time talking about all the other celebrities they idolized growing up and met and the show got so bad we left about 30 minutes in. The venue of people was literally a large group of mentally handicapped folks who seriously struggled just to get their liquor and take a seat. Most of the show we had people standing in front of us trying to get to their exact seat number in a stadium that is so cramped it leaves no elbow room for one person let alone two strangers. Even more frustrating is that there was at least a 3rd of the seats empty everyone, entire rows of empty seats all around us so why the venue staff and people kept cramming us all together and interrupting everyone's view of the show they could easily have sat anywhere, and the ticket prices with Tax were crazy for that event, almost $65 per person, I have been too big name conceters and paid about that only to see washed up people who never made it when they were young and I can see why.

I may have thought that the fest would have had better songs from the hippie era, ie. folk type music. Boy was I wrong. One group performed "hard rock" and my husband had to plug his ears. If we had wanted hard rock, we'd have gone to a Metalica concert. The mix was not correct either as it was difficult to hear the words over the guitars and drums. All-in-all, the concert was a disappointment. We won't be going to any more. The only highlight was the Cyrcle singing "Red Rubber Ball". We'd love a more refined folk concert or country music. We did go to an oldies concert at the Peabody several years ago, and I don't remember it being as loud as this one was. Please more music like Peter Paul and Mary, Paul Williams, Joan Biaz, etc. Sorry, but this concert for us was a total disappointment.

This was our first Hippiefest, and we had an amazing time! Everyone was dressed up, the booths/vendors, the live band - it was perfect! The concerts from all the bands at the Peabody was just as awesome, The Grass Roots, Paul Revere and the Raiders and so much more! We can't wait for next year!

You know right from the beginning the sound system had problems when the MC walked out and began to speak...it didn t work. When it finally worked it was screeching. 1910 Fruitgum Co. was the worst and Paul Revere and Raiders came in second. We could barely figure out what songs they sang and the speakers on the right stage would blast out inconsistently. I had to cover my ears as they played. Grass Roots was okay the center mic was bad and at times the lead singers voice made the speakers screech. There was one high light of the evening and that was Peter Rivera the lead singer of Rare Earth...everything was set up perfectly. He sat at the drums and sang and played with musicians that rarely sand except for the chorus. I could have listened to him all night. His mic was a different mic. I will not go again. In this digital age you would think the sound system could be better managed. The whole think felt like a high school rock-n-roll band held in a gymnasium.

The concert as a whole was decent, with only one act scoring an A+. The Cyrkle and 1910 Fruitgum Company had good stories to tell but were not very good, I'd say a C if we were grading them. The Grass Roots, the "headliner" were pretty bad, sounded NOTHING like the original band (although hard to do considering there were 3 different personnel lineups for the band I believe). But was very disappointed that they made no attempt to even play the music in a similar fashion as the original band. The "Paul Revere's Raiders" band did a very good job, were practiced, tight and enjoyable, I give them an A. But what was more impressive was how well they backed up Peter Rivera, they did an awesome job. But Peter Rivera was Excellent. He sounded as good as he did 40 years ago and his drumming did as well. I'm not sure how someone listened to the collection of bands and DIDN'T give Rivera the headliner status. So although much of the night was 2nd or 3rd rate, Peter Rivera made it all worth doing, so glad I finally got to see him.

Joey Molland was excellent and although he only played four songs (no real "Badfinger" band here) he was charming, funny, told good stories, and chose the set well. Rick Derringer was good and put himself into this entire show, but he was a bit pompous and not always musical. Family Stone was awesome - never thought I'd see them live. But the audience was sparse! Wow.

My wife and I enjoyed Edgar Winter very much - He is still awesome. Rick Derringer gave his best being sick. Sorry, but I never cared for Johnny's style music and didn't like that he played a Rolling Stones song, what was that about. As far as the street party, we didn't come until later, and all we saw were vendors of jewelry, clothes, etc. Very crowded, narrow walkways. Where were the variety of food vendors normally at street festival? Only two choices of food. We had the Mediterranean chicken gyro and it was not that great. Also, we don't approve of drunk people at community events and Peabody seems to promote that. We heard the band outdoors, they sounded good but no place to sit or even stand to see them, again, not enough space.

The outdoor Hippiefest was fantastic! The outside vendors and the VW bug and camper displays were super. The live band outside was also great. The young guys played Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, etc. Their quality of music was superb. I've seen all the head liners of hippiefest performers back in the 70's and was looking forward to seeing them one last time. Unfortunately, to me, they were TOO LOUD! I had to get toilet paper from the restrooms and stuff them in my ears to tone the volume down, and my ears are still ringing the next day. I know rock n roll must be loud, but there is a point where too much of a good thing is no longer a good thing. With the instruments potted up so high, they drowned out the voices of the performers. What a drag! Also, LESLIE WEST DID NOT SHOW UP! There was no mention of that before the concert. We heard that he had a limb amputated due to diabetes. Overall, it was a good day, but the concert itself was a bit disappointing. Message to the bands: TURN THE VOLUME DOWN. It would actually sound better and be more enjoyable, and not painful. I'd like to keep my hearing so I can continue to listen to your rock n roll for many more years to come.

Edgar Winter is the show. I'm 50 , so Savoy Brown is just a li'l before my time, however I must same Kim Simmonds was Very good and was a good way to open up the show. I don't know his music but I know when I hear good music. I've seen Derringer before and once again he does not disappoint. Edgar Winter and his band (which is deservant of perhaps carrying their own name as Edgar has done in the past) That was the show!!! I realize the esteem Johnny has and deserves.... but I pay to be entertained and that is Edgar Winter and "his band". Johnny was good and he can still play that guitar but coming on after Edgar, umm??

This was a gift to my Husband for our 20th wedding anniversay, and he was so looking forward to seeing Mountain. Even during intro's they said that mountain would be playing, but that did not happen, while the Winter brothers put on a grand show, it was disappointing to not see Mountain. We went last year as well since our Anniversary is the 22nd of Aug. this was again a gift to each other.

Kim Simmonds was just OK, Rick Derringer proved why he's such a great Session Picker and Leslie West couldn't perform. The back up group was the Edgar Winter Band and they were tight and extremely talented. When Edgar came out he absolutely stole the Show. He still has awesome Pipes and Chops and is a first class entertainer. Johnny closed the Show and it was almost painful to watch. He was frail and had to be walked slowly to a chair where he sat and played. He repeatedly had to be told what song came next and made many mistakes while playing which was evident even to non-players in the Audience. His own back up Band lacked any personality and performance abilities. His second song was Johnny B Good and can be a fun song but a waste of time for one of the former best Blues pickers in the world. He definitely should not have closed the show. He was embarrassing to watch.

This wasn't the sixties that I participated in. Very disappointed and probably will be my last Hippiefest. We have gone to the last three and had a ball but this was truly more torture than fun. Everyone around us was complaining that the music was waaaaaay too loud. Wish Peabody would control the drinking more because the drunks didn't help us enjoy the performance. Sorry I had to give a bad review.

A sound engineer can make or break a musician, regardless of their talent. It was difficult at best to differentiate the lyrics from the instrumentals, much less discern what the song was, even if it was a familiar hit. These were some fabulous musicians, but the abundance of over blasted sound from the "big bad boy" Marshall amps only served to bast your ears out with distorted sound. It was reminiscent of the concert with the back up group having poor sound quality & then the big time group having their sound in sync & professionally orchestrated. Although the target audience generally consisted of old baby boomers (some of which did have their hearing aids on) we deserved better. Perhaps the road crew thought this genre was too old to hear, too stoned to know, or too confused at their "advanced"age to be aware of good sounds or not. Some of us are still discriminating in our music & expect the seasoned icons of music to blow us away" with proportional sound quality.

MISSED "THE RASCALS" & GOT THERE WHILE "RICK DERRINGER" WAS PLAYING. I CAN SAY THAT I SAW "RICK" IN THE LATE 70'S & HE SOUNDED SO MUCH BETTER NOW THAN EVER. INTERMISSION AFTER RICK. NEXT UP...MARK FARNER!!! WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT MARK EXCEPT HE SEEMS TO GET BETTER & BETTER AS TIME GOES BY. HE'S ABSOLUTELY TIMELESS!!! DAVE MASON...ALSO GOOD BUT NOT MY FAVORITE PERFORMER OF THE NIGHT. ALSO, THE CROWD WAS SO MELLOW...IT REALLY SURPRISED ME. ESPECIALLY WHILE RICK DERRINGER WAS UP THERE JAMMING & THEN MARK...THE AMERICAN PATRIOT...C'MON PEOPLE...SHOW THESE PERFORMERS SOME RESPECT. I THINK I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN MY SECTION WHO WAS ACTUALLY STANDING THROUGH MARK'S WHOLE PERFORMANCE. NOW HOW CAN YOU SIT THROUGH GRAND FUNK RAILROAD MUSIC. I HEARD A FEW PEOPLE YELLING TO SIT DOWN BUT I DID NOT...WAS IN THE SECOND ROW & ENJOYED EVERY SECOND OF IT!!!
