Erykah Badu

This concert was indeed an experience. Flawless performance note for note. I enjoyed every single moment.

Event began at 8pm with three openers, followed by short acts from Hi-Tec, Yasiin Bey, and Talib Kweli. The volume was insane--wish we'd brought earplugs, but I doubt they would've helped much. We couldn't understand a word of the headlining rappers, which kind of defeats the purpose! This event would be perfect were it outdoors in the summer with some food trucks and stuff. The main event was, of course, a longer act with Erykah Badu, which ended at about 1:30am. We weren't planning on being there for over 5 hours--again, were this an outdoor event, coming and going would've been a great option. Sometimes the crowd danced, but with a seated venue it felt pretty inhibited. The AC was also cranked, so it got pretty chilly. The three stars provided were because EBadu was awesome, but we would only consider going again if this event took place outside.

Musiq Soulchild not showing up was initially a disappointment, but Common & Erykah Badu more than made up for it. Common s energy keeps you excited throughout his performance. Erykah Badu s cool but passionate demeanor makes you want her to never stop singing.

Umm...amazing. Pretty much sums this up. I had seen Ms Badu at the Warfield before, as part of the block party tour with Dave Chappelle. I was amazed by her but left the show wanting more, as she had just performed a 20-30 minute set. The show my wife and I were blessed to see was almost 2 hours of incredible music. Her band is phenomenal and she captivates, educates and wows. If you ever get the chance to see her, shell out the money because it could very well be the best money you will spend all year.

The Erykah Badu concert was fabulous, to say the least. I was not impressed with the Humphreys rooms, a little midevil times looking to me, but they are in the process of remodeling all of their rooms. All in all the concert and the grounds were beautiful.

Erykah Badu continues to reinvent herself! And once again proving that she is a genius with great talent and lots of style! And it lasted for over two hours straight, which was after her opening act! Fabulous concert!!

Erykah ROCKED THE HOUSE! She never disappoints, sang all the favorites and old school tunes... PHENOMENAL WOMAN and PERFORMER!

Erykah and crew gave a great performance. There were two sets, both with a distinct flavor and tone, both meant to entertain and engage the audience.

Erykah delivered an incredible performance. She is a true entertainer. Humphreys is a bit regulated for my taste, but Erykah made up for it! Her show was full of diverse songs and skits. Her band and back up singers are really talented and complement her well.

She was outstanding! She is one of the best performers in the music world today.

This was my first time seeing Erykah Badu live! And I must admit she is a great performer. She really gets the audience involved. She did all of her hit songs and added great sound effects in between songs too! She is the best! I would highly recommend her show to anyone.

Erykah was in peak form that night, and her opener was amazing! Really got the crown riled up.

I am sixteen years old and since about the age of ten I have been wishing to see Erykah Badu live. I finally was able to get tickets for Christmas, and let me tell you. Seeing Erykah live is the most intimate and passionate concert I have ever experienced. I felt like I was just in a room with her listening to her beautiful vocals. She just honestly puts her whole entire soul into it and sings like no other. She loves what she does as do I. Not to mention, she is a very beautiful entertainer and also hilarious. I loved this so much. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me, really. My dream came true, and I thank Erykah for doing that and just being herself. She did plenty of remixes that I hope one day come to CD or itunes or something one day? Haha. Also: whoever designed her merch was a genius. I bought a fifty dollar "Hip Hop is Bigger than the Government" hoodie. It's of very nice quality and also is an awesome reminder of the night my life was slayed. yeyo<3 I think it's because not only is Erykah an amazing singer, she's a teacher, an inspiration and honestly a gift. Her words are powerful and inspiring and I'm sorry this might seem like I'm being extra but I'm really not. It's really that deep. I recommend this to ANYBODY. if I could give it a million stars I WOULD. buy tickets for the 2015 show, I know I'll be saving up to do the same!!! <33 Once again thank you Erykah<3 COME BACK MORE OFTEN I NEED MY LIFE AND SOUL SLAYED MORE. <3

She started 30 minutes late but made up for it at the end. The place tried to boot her off stage at a specific time and she wasn't having that at all. The concert was fantastic, no need for flashing lights and props because this woman is an amazing singer and story teller. Definitely will go see her again if she comes back or nearby. . She gives her fans the show they deserve for the money.

Concert was great! Music, sound, seating was a little tight but you could see from anywhere in the venue. Erykah came out after the concert and signed autographs and took pictures. She's very sweet and loves her fans!

Ms. Badu put on an AMAZING show ! A meet and greet wasn't even scheduled and she stayed and signed autographs and took pictures. The set was great. They practically had to force her off the stage. The vibe was great and you can tell she was feeling the crowd.

Where do I begin. The show was scheduled to start at 8pm. Erykah Badu did not take the stage until 10pm. Oh did I mention that there was no opening act...her DJ entertained the crowd for about 30 mins...then he left the stage. Once she arrived on stage there was no apology given for the 2 hour delay. Her performance lasted about an hour and twenty mins and I may be overstating the time. Oh wait I did I pay $93.50 for an hour long show. Do not waste your money!!!!

The venue was an open air theater. It was very comfortable because there was a nice breeze off the bay. The seats are very close together but tolerable. Erykah Badu was amazing and sound was excellent. The drink prices inexpensive. They started at $3. I will attend more concerts here. It was a very good time.

I had such a good time! It was a more intimate venue, so you had a pretty good view from where ever you sat. Luckily I was very close to the stage as I got my seat bumped up!! I really enjoyed the showed even Bobby Valentino who I was dreading. Lyfe Jennings did a wonderful job I wish he would have had more time. I love him! When Ms. Badu came out everyone went wild! We could feel her energy and I'm sure she felt ours! She is and always will be one of the BEST live performers out there. Her albums do her little justice compared to what you get live! She's very interactive with the crowd, funny, there's visual stimulation, it's just all around amazing!

This was something that I wanted to do for a long time. I really enjoy watching Lyfe Jennings because his music help me though my a relationship where i was getting hit on every day. But listening to Lyfe Jennings and Erykah Babu it helped me to get way from him and start fighting back standing up for myself. So i thanks you for all the support from you though the your music and the support I give you by being a number one fan Thanks You.

The show was supposed to start at 830 PM. Listened to her DJ for 90 minutes. Show actually began at 1015 PM. Once she got on stage I enjoyed the show. However, I would've enjoyed it more had I not been forced to wait around for almost 120 minutes.

Simply put - the show was Amazing ! I'm a huge music lover and Erykah Badu is one of my favorite artists, i saw her 6 or 7 years ago in Hawaii and have been wanting to see her again ever since ! It was a magical night of music i will never forget !!!

Erykah's performance was wonderful, inspirational, amazing. The down side is the amount of time we waited for her to come on. 3 hours?! Come on. There should have been an act before her, not just a DJ, although he played great tunes.

She was AMAZING! Her band was AMAZING! She took the crowd for a great ride. High energy, intimate performance. I would see her again... and again! After 16 years Baduizm is still relevant. It will forever be one of my favorite albums. The only downside was that at times it was difficult to see her on the stage. HoB has plenty of screens throughout the venue but if I wanted to see her on a screen I'd watch her on television.

Being This Was My First Erykah Live Expirence, I Was Blown Away! Entertainment At Its Best From Beginning To End. I Was On My Feet. The Energy From Her ,Thru The Audience Was Contagious And It Made You Journey Through Happy, Sad,Being Uplifted And Enlightened!

The concert was food for the soul. Seeing such a diverse population was so cool !

I am a lover of everything Badu. When Mama s Gun was released in 2000, I just knew she wrote many of those songs about my life. From Didn t Cha Know, to . . . & On to Kiss Me On My Neck, Erykah s growth was apparent. So, back to her show on Dec. 31, 2012. It s been 15 years since Baduzim s debut and Erykah has subsequently released five more albums. Each has showcased an ever-changing Badu, but one thing has remained consistent Erykah s live performances. They are NEVER a disappointment. Strolling on stage while her band played a lazy and drawn out version of 20 Feet Tall (it came across as if they were still in sound check), she paused at the microphone, taking in all the audience love, before proclaiming, My love, what did I do to make you fall so far from me? At the end of the song (and come to think of it, she did this on every song), Erykah struck a warrior/goddess pose. The next three songs (The Healer/Hip Hop, Me and My People) are all from New Amerykah: Part One (4th World Order) the one album whose meaning I m still working on grasping. This provided me, however, the perfect opportunity to stop and do some recording. Playing On & On and . . . & On back to back, Love of My Life (An Ode to Hip Hop) followed with a surprise appearance by Oakland s own Raphael Saadiq who, according to Erykah, provided the base line for the song. (Side note, I normally am up dancing to this song, but I sacrificed this time so I could record this performance for my readers. I m glad I did.) As the clock neared midnight, the band began the first notes of Danger. About half way through the song, a count-down appeared on the screen behind the stage and we all stopped, screamed happy New Year, and went back to partying. During Back in the Day (Puff), Erykah exclaimed, Now is the opportunity for you to smoke, as if that hadn t been already occurring. At some point, she took her shoes off and ended the night with Didn t Cha Know, the first verse from Out My Mind, Just in Time (the one song I just had to hear) and Bag Lady, which I think was an appropriate song to finish with because in the new year, I definitely will be working on letting the bags go! Briefly about the opening act: I ve heard of The Coup, an Oakland-based, political hip-hop act, but have never listened to their music. I could not understand one single word their front man Boots Riley was saying even when I plugged my ears (which usually works but was of no use to me in this case). After they finished the last song, I sat perplexed because I wasn t sure what I just witnessed; all I know is I was ready for them to get off the stage. Erykah s setlist:

Erykah is the best. She is an amazing vocalist, musician and engaging entertainer. You get your money's worth when Ms. Badu is on the stage. We did not want her set to end.

Rickey Smiley was funny, Special K did a real good job for my first experience. I enjoyed the Fuzz Band's energy and sound. Erykah Badu did a fantastic set, the crowd was with her, there was this whole synergy going on that I was happy to be apart of. Erykah was fly! I loved her dancing, how she interacted with her band and the crowd. She preformed a few of my favorite cuts. Love of My Life featured versus from 3 old school hip hop songs (Ladi Dadi, Friends, & an NWA track I'm not familiar with), which was a treat. The thump of the music was electrifying, Erykah's set was fluid. She is still the Queen of That Thang. Satisfaction all around. After her set and before the encore, she joked around with Rickey Smiley and it was pure fun. Can't wait to see her again. I LOVE YOU, BADU!!!

Every time Erykah Badu is in Philly, I make sure I'm there!!!! She never disappoints!!!! Not to mention her comedic persona. Luv, Luv, Luv her.

I bought 2 tix for my parents they enjoyed both Ro James and Badu. Amazing time! They have both been to shows and this one is at the top of their lists.

Erykah live was a moment I could stay in forever!! Her vocals were impeccable, so much soul. She truly connected with every person in the audience. A stage prensence that is true magic. This was my first and hopefully not my last Badu live experience.

She was funny but REAL! Amazing performance! I'd definitely see her again! Mannie Fresh did a wonderful job of setting the energy.

As always, the lineup was phenomenal. I was disappointed with the choice of MC/Host. The MC was not able to keep the crowd "hype." He's no MC Lightfoot!

The whole weekend was Awesome!!!!! Friday started off with a Bang, all the acts were great! Saturday the rain was unexpected, but the fans were dedicated and enjoyed every bit of the show and stayed to the end despite the rain. Sunday's show was Spectacular, everything was in line, weather, crowd, food, and drinks. My wife loves Joe, and I love Babyface, so we were singing along from start to finish. We will be back Aug. 8th for Mary J. See y'all soon!!!!!

The show was great i understand that there where different artist. But it did seem a little rushed but overall digable planets and erykah was the bomb love them

I had a very good time. The vibe was right, seats were great. Performances was awesome. The Dj kept the mood going. My first time and it was awesome!!

Overall the event was cool but Erykah Badu arrived so late. I wouldn't have paid $80 for this event.

Spent most of the evening listening to background/hook singers or a dj. Erykah Badu showed up hours late and performed 3 songs. Complete waste! Not to mention parking sucks.

First of all I would like to say that I am a hardcore Erykah Badu fan. However, there were several reasons why I felt as if I were a fool for purchasing these tickets. I am too embarrassed to admit how much I paid for these tickets, which is why I am rather annoyed, and deeply disappointed. I am still kicking myself 3 days later for purchasing tickets to this concert... it really was a let down that I had been looking forward to. Let me start out by saying that 60% of the quality of her concert was due to the venue she selected to perform at. The parking was horrible in which a parking attendant at a paid lot said that the venue was close to the venue in which I had to walk what seemed like a mile in heels. We also purchased VIP passes which were supposed to include early entrance, and buffet. The food appeared old and inedible, and the only beverages that were available was bottled water. The concert was held at an outdoors venue in which it happened to be stifling hot, and humid. We were seated wrong twice by the venue staff so between the parking, fooled into purchasing VIP passes, the heat, and being seated incorrectly twice we were already beginning to feel absolute regret for deciding to purchase tickets. The two opening acts were so absolutely horrible that I wonder if Erykah Badu actually listened to her opening act Hiatus Kaiyote before booking them. They were so bad that a fellow concert attendee in the crowd made a white flag out of a white napkin... please stop we surrender! After the opening acts there was a Deejay that played Prince, and Michael Jackson songs as a tribute to them along with 80's hits. By this time I was close to tears from disappointment . This was my first experience of purchasing tickets in the over 20 years of purchasing tickets to countless stage performances that I have attended a concert that was absolutely horrid, and a total nightmare. Erykah Badu didn't take the stage until 10:30 and the concert was to start at 8pm with the opening act. After sitting there in the sweltering heat for about 3 hours, and tortured by her opening acts I think most of the crowd was too tired, and uncomfortable to really care any more. By the time Erykah Badu took the stage everyone stood, but that was short lived considering most were too tired and sleepy to continue standing or participate. Erykah was okay... the venue sound system was horrible. It was simply too loud with her opening acts, and Erykah even being inaudible at times. I was relieved when the concert was over at about 12:30am, and the only reason I stayed to the end was because of the amount that I had paid to see her perform. Bottom line is if you want to enjoy a Erykah Badu concert please do not purchase tickets to a outdoor venue. The concert was in the city so we didn't get home until 2am... thank goodness it was a Friday night.

Badu put on an AMAZING show and amazing is an understatement. incredible in the studio. incredible live. I didn't want it to end. will def be at her next show, front row, when she comes back.

I've been to many concerts over the years but this was definitely the best show. Erykah is amazing, I almost cried when the show was over. Ro James was amazing as well. The venue is okay, high priced food. I would have liked better seats but we didn't hear about the show until about mid May. But still it was a great show!

Rickey Smiley was his usual hilarious self. He was the perfect introduction for the Queen! Erykah Badu's first appearance in Little Rock, AR was truly a night to be remembered. She has an obvious love for her fans as security asked people lined up in front of the stage.... Queen Badu stopped her rendition of "On and On" to tell security to "please leave those people alone! " it was a moment that brought cheers from the audience fit for a Queen! She immediately continued her song. Ms. Badu performed 2 hours straight, without missing a beat and sounding exactly like her recorded voice but just that much better! There's so much more I could say, but I'll finish by saying, Hail, Queen Badu! We were privileged to see you do what you love and we were captivated and forever touched by your aura! Good concert overall. The show would have been GREAT if it had started on time, Ro James performed longer and had a spotlight on him.

I flew in from my Caribbean vacation straight to see Erykah Badu and I was so happy! Her voice is amazing and her stage presence is spellbinding! I am so pleased she gave a great show! I will always be a fan!

Nas was amazing. He performed all his classics. The crowd in Detroit went crazy during ever song Nas performed. You could his love for his fans and for the music while he performed. Words just can't express how amazingly dope he was. Can't wait to see him again.

Nas did all the classics went hard for an hour straight Good Crowd interaction Erykah had a live band and DJ She was amazing... She did mostly of her classics and variations of her songs (Personally, I can listen to the whole " mamas gun" project beginning dto end) As her set came to a close some in the front started to leave to get ahead of the traffic But they missed a treat She came for an encore and sang another 20minutes and the band played for another 10 to 15min

The show was amazing. Badu and Nas in one show was double the fun. The weather was great. Being able to see the river was cool. The acoustics were great! The song selection by both artist was well thought out. Only thing I wish would've happened is Nas and Badu doing a set together. Since they don't have any songs together they can't! Lol but honestly it was amazing. The energy from the Detroit crowd was >>>>>>>>>>>>> definitely a concert I'll never forget.

Badu sounded great and gave a very intimate performance! Erykah was funny, personal, exciting and was really intuitive with the crowd; she could tell that a lot of the fans were not familiar with the songs that were not radio singles from her last 2 albums New Amerykah 1 & 2 (not me-I know those albums backwards and forwards) so she asked the crowd's permission to do a lot of songs from Baduizm and Mama's Gun. Badu proved once again she is a performer that always thrills and captivates. Can you tell I love her??

Erykah Badu is absolutely amazing in concert! She has a unique and crazy powerful voice. She's soulful, down to earth and profound. A true hip hop artist.

I'm so grateful to be able to share the same space as Erykah, her genuine energy and spirit shines through her music. Everyone in her band was really tight... they all feel the flow and rhythm with each other which is soooooo crucial to make good music.. Erykah brought the house down..she skatted, did free verse, rocked some old school hip hop, and reworked her classics into something greater than it was before. If you haven't seen Erykah, you've never been to a hip hop show. This lady brings it.

Erykah was so much better than I could have imagined! She was energetic, funny, beautiful and her vocals were ON POINT! She made me laugh, dance and just feel very warm and relaxed. She was MAGNIFICANT! I would actually FLY to see Mrs. E and I have NEVER been on a plane and TERRIFIED of heights and flying!!!! Thats how deep it is!!!

This was my 7th time seeing Erykah Badu and I swear she gets better each time. I love the amount of love that she was showing to the crowd. There was one point where she invited people up on stage to dance and show off their Detroit style. She even came down into the audience to sing her last song, Bag Lady. She had no problem with us snapping pics of her all night long. She even posed for us a few times! Every time I see her perform I feel like she left a piece of her spirit on the stage. She is an excellent performer and artist and I would travel to the north pole to see her show.

I thought the show was remarkable. Well coordinated, good mix of talent and it ran smoothly. It was my first time seeing Michel Lisette & Rafeal Sadiq, I was not disapointed. Being a DC native, I am very familiar with Chuck Brown and as usual, he delivered! Eryka Badu was amazing! My only complaint is that she did not remain on stage long enough. She was the headliner and the act I came to see, I spent 7 hours waiting to see her and I feel that she did not spend enough time on stage. Otherwise the show was excellent!

My girl ERRRYKAH rocked the house in Detriot. Me and six friends drove all the way from Milwaukee. I'm very impressed how Erykah has recreated herself to entertain her fans however staying true to her identity. We all had a great time at the concert and was not disappointed. It was worth the loooong ride due to the wrong turn we made "back there somewhere". Erykah, if you are reading this I believe we are your "biggest" fans. Most of us who came are Muslim and we had to participate in the concert to the fullest. For example, stepping out of the element of being pious and singing the lyrics to "Ain't No Fun". We had a wonderful time!!

This show had incredible energy and was AWESOME! Every performer from Mike Epps to Erykah Badu sound better in person, LIVE! That's a sign of true ARTIST and not those studio singers. Foreign Exchange gave us Hip-Hop with soul and funk! Raphael Saadiq is taking it back old school style when singing was singing! Chrisette Michele is just showing folks her vocals, style, and finally independence! Mike Epps was amazingly funny; he had me in tears! I wished he could have done more! Chuck Brown, our DC native musician is the bomb and had me sweating - no correction - DRENCHED! That man is inspiring for his age and still blowing up the stage! Foreign Exchange gave us some good sounds of Hip Hop with soul! And then the Queen of Neo-Soul hit the stage and gave us classic Erykah groove's - she should have played more but they only give her an hour - but she uses that time wisely to get us groovin'! True Erykah fans will appreciate her set! Go see this tour! It's hot and worth the money - best thing I did this summer!

All the acts were fantastic. Chrisette Michele's voice was incredible, I didn't really know much about her before but now I'm a fan! Mike Epps was hilarious. Raphael Saadiq was hot! He did a good mix of new and old stuff...those Tony! Toni! Toné! songs really took me back. Erykah Badu was as always just amazing! Her remix of Apple Tree was off the f'ing hook!! Everyone was great but D.C. does not party harder than when there's Go Go involved. Chuck Brown got on the stage and the party seemed like it would go on forever. I was worried Erykah wouldn't get to perform with the amount of time Chuck was on. Awesome Awesome show!! It was well done and I never wanted it to end!

i LOVE ERYKAH BADU's ECLECTICISM! she "marched" out in slow motion0 reminiscent of a TOY SOLDER in her TOP HAT, DOO RAG & BLACK LACQUERED PANTS (patent leather?), military style jacket and 10in (?) platform stiletto BOOTS! OMG!! HOT TO DEATH! if anyone has a clear picture, please post it! Raphael's RETRO set was FAB! he can do no wrong by me... and i LOVED that he went back and pulled out a few TONY, TONI, TONE' (lay your head on my piiiiiiiilllllllllloooooooow.... !!!!) , and LUCY PEARL hits! but being a native washingtonian, CHUCK BABY and Lil' BENNY kept me on my feet!

One of the best shows I've been to... 6 hours of non-stop entertainment from The Foreign Exchange, Chrisette Michele, Chuck Brown, Raphael Saadiq and Miss Erykah Badu. The event was hosted by comedian Mike Epps so the day was beautiful blend of comedy and live music. The only downside was that Erykah Badu's performance was cut short as the venue had to close probably because they had so many artists on the bill... but I'm not complaining :-D

I arrived there @ 7:00pm. The Beach is an live outdoor venue located in called Governor Island. We reach there taking water taxi from Lower Manhattan. Swing in a breeze, I enjoyed the view and smell of the sea with good weather. Viewing skyscrapers of Lower Manhattan, the open stage was set up. This time I found the international flavor in the crowd. The show started at 9:40pm following the opening act of Janelle Monae. Some people moved forward to be close the stage in the break time. Hearing audiece's ebullience voices, Erykah appeared posing with blue backlight in the mystic air. As soon as she hit the rhythm machine, I got to feel her great music talent. If I may say, she is the Muse of Sounds. Her sound made me feel to be in the Xanadu. Also I thought the Beach was the very good location to feel her mystic sound. I think she is also small but she can take us, audience, to a dream world with her magic. Yes, I can say she is a magician. Her fingers took control the venue to be the wonderland. I saw rays of lights from her fingers. I left the venue at 11:10pm, but the concert was still continued. At 11:30pm, once music stopped, but Eryka had encore stage. Of course,the audience was so satisfied the show.

If you have not had the pleasure of seeing Ms. Badu live then by all means possible get yo butt moving!!! :) There was a beautiful sunset on the island and everyone was really at ease just going with the flow, not rude or pushy at all...A new singer Janelle opened the show and she pumped the energy up with her edgy beats and fresh sound. Of course, Ms. Badu's performance brought the house down!! The only thing was I didn't see a place selling her merchandise...I would love to have gotten an autographed cd or something but to have this experience in itself is something I will ALWAYS remember...and I have video on my camera, lol. Love you Erykah!!

erykah badu is a true performer and musician. her show was impeccable, flawless... and you definately get your moneys worth she always plays at least untill midnight and she doesnt just sing the songs straight like the album, she works them all together and mixes them up and really showcases her true vocal talent. not a show to miss

She played everything I wanted !! I was stoked ... This was my 5th BADU show... and i was right up front and center, like a good lil devoted fan..... My arms hurt the next day from cheering.. no joke. great show ... opener usually dope as well... GO ! NO DOUBT I WILL WAKE UP EARLY TO GET TICKET THE NEXT TIME SHE IS IN SAN FRANCISCO!!!!!!!!!!

The energy was great... The vocals were phenomenal... The vibe was great... The outfits were out of this world... Just a beautiful show... We partied and had a good time with Erykah Badu... Hands down awesome show... All hail Queen Erykah Badu... Anytime you in town or local... I will be there to see you... All the best
