The Temptations & the Four Tops

It was hard to tell that there was replacements, sound was outstanding and stage movement was second to none.We enjoyed every bit of it.

It was an amazing show, The tempts and the 4 Tops out did themselves. I would go see them again if they come back to Nashville and I would like them at the Symphony Hall. The Ryman auditorium was OK but the seats were kind of hard but we had a great time and we had great seats. The thing I liked best was that I could take pictures and did some recording.

Great concert. Temptations played their biggest hits. Four tops could have had a better set list. The crowd statrted to thin out well before they were done. The first have of their set was better. Still, alot of fun. Audience participation was a big part of the concert.

The 4Tops did not sound like the originals at all and their moves were not coordinated. They did way to much talking and not enough singing. The Temptations were much better but did not sing long enough (Only about 35 mins) Security was TERRIBLE at the event and allowed people to bring in their own alcohol, people were not respective of others at the event and there was so much talking in the audience that you could hardly hear the singing.,

Was great to hear the old hits again and played and sung so well.....we had a wonderful time!!!!

Temptations were excellent...great show. Four Tops were not good, playing out the string. Would give Temps 5 stars, Four Tops 1

The Temptations were wonderful great performances by all members and the choices of songs brought back great memories to this Baby Boomer... They involved the crowd and the individual members were totally involved with the crowd responding to them. Even though one of the Temptations had just had knee surgery, He was still moving to the music and staying with the rest of the groups choreography even seated; Great vocals by all of them. Really was disappointed in the Four tops choices of songs especially did not like Mc Arthur Park, not what I think of when I think of this group... They really lost the momentum generated by the Temptations. The Temptations should look to team with another group not continue with this psuedo-Vegas Four Tops presentation!

Temptations did a fantastic job of recreating the songs of the era. You would never know just listening to them that there is only one surveying member of this group left. The four tops, not so much. Although they sang well, /1/2 of the concert was devoted to non 4 top songs. I mean, MacArthur Park, come on... They need to re-do their play list to include 4 tops music, that is what we went to see. one star for 4 tops, 5 stars for Temptations.

The groups were fabulous.The music theatre needs ac though,very hot!!!

there is no question the Four Tops and the Temptations are great to watch, however, the conditions at the Melody Tent made it hard to enjoy....the sound system was impossible, making it very hard to hear the words being sung. Also, it was beyond uncomfortably hot. We did not expect air conditioning, but management could improve conditions by installing some large fans...many people sitting near us felt the same way and could not wait for intermission which allowed us to go outside the tent and enjoy the breeze. The uncomfortable conditions was the main topic of conversation during intermission. We would think long and hard before attending another show, regardless of the performers

Wonderful evening for a Motown fan, but... The Temps have to address two issues: The sound guy needs to understand it's not about decibels, it's about singing, harmony and dancing, and Unless the Temps can find a lead singer who doesn't scream, they should hang it up (Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin never screamed) Meanwhile, 4Tops were fabulous - the harmony, the tributes to the 3 deceased Tops, the song selection - I loved it.

The Temptations put on a great show! Loved it! The Four Tops were good, but their show was fairly short, both in terms of duration and song selection. Three of the songs, none of them Four Tops hits, were sung by individuals rather than the group as a whole, which detracted from our enjoyment of their performance. We went to see the FOUR Tops, not one Top at a time!

I brought my parents to this concert for there 50th wedding anniversary gift, well let me just say they really enjoyed them selfs, brought back a lot of memories for them. I saw this show 2 yrs ago and just had to go again and maybe next year too. So if you get a chance go see them it's a night to remember. I also love how they interact with there guest.

Not enough of the old songs; too many tributes to past members; nice touch but too long; more old songs and less talking; temptatoions were better act than four tops; should have gone to steve miller

Excellent shows, both groups !! Just too darn hot in the tent!

The weather was brutal (hot and humid) and that certainly did not help. I had a doubt the heavy-set member of The Temptations would make the end of the set. There is only a single living original member of each group left, so you are not seeing anything close to the originals. Musically OK, and probably fine for those who just want to hear a live rendition of the old tunes. Just nothing special and not worth the cost of admission. It is undoubtedly an unfair comparison having seen Joe Walsh in similar weather conditions at the same venue the night before. Not recommended.

Faces have changed, but great voices, timeless classics, and boundless enthusiasm made for an amazing evening. If anyone left after the performances without a heart full of nostalgia and a huge grin, I didn't see them.

What a treat - was looking so forward to seeing these bands that I grew up with. The environment of the venue (South Shore Music Circus) was so hot that you sweated profusely throughout the entire show. The lead of the Temptations even made a comment on stage.. The artists on both bands were sweating to the point of dripping profusely all over themselves and the stage. I realize this is an intimate outdoor venue but they could have simple fans going OR open up the sides of the tent for circulation! This makes absolutely no sense.. The Four Tops were awesome... when you could hear their vocals. The Temptations were disappointing because again, you couldn't hear their vocals. The accompanying bands of both the Four Tops and Temptations were SO loud that it drowned out the vocals. This has been happening at South Shore for a few years now. I keep thinking things will change but they don't. Big disappointment, and for me, a waste of money and a once in a lifetime experience..

I liked the concert.The 4 tops stole the show.Temptations could have done much better.Its important that people got to know a little about the 4 TOPS.They did a little more with individuialistic performances.Even though my seats were in the last row,I could see everything.My wife and the other couple with us had a great time.

The venue was deficient on the sound system. There was no wow factor. Microphone made their singing mumbled. The back of the venue cannot hear the singing and was not loud nor clear.

Fridays concert was FANTASTIC. The Four Tops were very good with their singing and stories between songs. The Temptations were even better with theirs. Every new member of the group was as good or better than the original member. The music and sound system was perfect and I enjoyed the individual performers when they did solo performances. Will look for them again if they come near my city.

Temptations' sound was like it was the original sound and the dance moves superb.

The Temptations were very good. Good energy. The Four Tops were not good. They can't sing the songs very good and the band sounded bad.

The Four Tops were good. But the new members on The Temptations not only have the sound but the soul of The Temptations. My 13 year old son really enjoyed himself.

Great show led by original member Duke Fakir of the 4 Tops and Otis Williams of the Temptations.

GREAT SHOW ... loved all the old songs!! The show was really a wonderful trip down memory lane.

Amazing show by both groups but marred slightly by poor light and sound engineering. Lead singers inaudible at times. Performers in the dark and display screens blank for a few seconds several times. Not what I expected of MGM.

Both groups were outstanding! Both groups dressed classy as always!!!! The Four Tops opened the show and they were real good, Vocals and choreography was good and both groups performed for one hour straight singing all the favorites with no intermission or break. The TEMPTATIONS were definitely the highlight and Otis still has the moves as the last original member. You could tell that they were really all having fun performing and you can sense the brotherhood and love between all the members. I would recommend going to see both groups if possible, but definitely the Temptations if you can. I would have gone back the next night to see them if they had been performing.The Temptations lead singer is in his element and after having seen him perform with Tower Of Power, him being with the Temptations is definitely a better fit. His voice is amazing singing all their songs..The choreography was so professional like it has always been, the sounds and songs were great, something for everybody because they sang all the favorite hits. A very touching tribute to all the members that have passed away. They have not forgotten them and it is great to have that as part of the show. It shows love and respect..

Four Tops: I was waiting for the Apollo Sandman to yank them off the stage. Temptations: This was a review of old Motown favorite hits. So many newer songs was left out. I know they have not put out an album in years, but they should have included a quick medley of some of their 90's songs like Some Enchanted Evening, Life is But a Dream, My Promise, songs that included the entire audience. Everyone attending was not from the 60's era. Nothing intimate about the performance, felt like I was in Vegas....not good.

Even though there s only one original member in each group they still had the same sound that I grew up with.

TN Theater has some less than customer focused employees that impacted our evening, also no TP or towels in Unisex bathroom. But the groups were good, played all our favorites with energy. Excellent orchestra! Wish the Tops spent less time on remembering the lost members and more on songs. Was it worth $200+ - no!

What a great venue to see two fabulous groups. These guys are a legency of when music was heart felt and soulful..definetely worth the opportunity to see these guys. Was so sad to realize most have already left us but the ones that haven't gave it their all. Thank you

We have watched several performances by the Four Tops and Temptations, and they never disappoint us! The only negative is that the sound for the Temptations was too loud. We have experienced this at all Temptations concerts, not just this one. If you go, take ear plugs for the Temptations half!

Loved the concert! Awesome music from my generation.Did see a variety of ages there all getting into the performance.Especially the lady who stood up in front of the people and danced blocking the view of everyone behind her.It was the only negative thing I could say about the entire evening!

This is the first time seeing the four tops and the temptations. They were wonderful and I would go back and see them again.

This show was fabulous. I would see it again for sure. So fun to sing along!

The Four Tops and Temptations were awesome!! Would highly recommend this concert to anyone who is a fan of the Motown sound!!

Each group had still one of the originals still there so that was pretty cool. I have seen them two or three times before and usually the Tops play first and then the Temptations. Before the Tops would come back out and close the show with the Temptations in a sort of Dueling Banjos kind of thing that was really awesome. That did not happen in this show. The Temptations came out first and were really good and had the crowd really going and into the music big time. They had a 15 minute intermission and then the Four Tops came out. They were not in sinc with their movements like you would expect and were all over the stage individually. The guys could sing well but half the songs they sang were other artists songs and not theirs as you would expect. Then in the middle of their time the original guy sat down on a stool for twenty minutes and just talked about the three that were not there any more. It was bad enough till then but that was the show killer. There must have been over a hundred and fifty couples that got up and walked out between then and the end of the show. It was a real let down after the Temptations did so well. If it were not for my date having never seen them before I would have left early also!

Thought the Temptations did a very good job and put on a nice show. Would recommend. The Four Tops not so much. Too much talking and not enough singing. Came to listen to some of their great songs, half the time they were on stage they just talk. Would NOT recommend

Four Tops talked too much. They have some great songs, but they seemed too tired to perform.

This was an awesome concert! The audience was totally loving the music. The Temptations were first and they were great! Sang all their hits! The Four Tops were next and were outstanding. Both groups sounded as good as always even with new members having joined in recent years. If you love Motown music and these two classic groups, it is a must see concert!

The Temptations were great. Wish they had played just a little longer. The 4 Tops, who were the headliner, spent way too much time talking. People got up and left. We were excited to go and it was a let down. Not a fan of the Ryman seating...

Great show!! Temptations stole the show!! 4 Tops were good too but a little too much slowing down and talking during their part in my opinion. But would definitely see both again.

Worst concert I ever been to. I was standing up .The people complain I had to sit down.

Stylistics were wonderful, the best, being together for 49 years shows in the performance. Spinners were the worst and performed the longest. The temptations had it all together. The 4 tops were pretty good.

The reason I went to this show was the movie. And this was not my era of music but it is now. The talent on that stage was amazing. What positive energy with a little mix from Mr. Marley told me that respect never dies with the person. Wish it would rain, gives me the chills and memory of this concert will be with me for a very long time. Their stage presence was also evident in their bag of skills. They never missed a beat, they all played like family and friends and I want to thank all of them for coming to San Diego. You will be missed.

Wonderful to hear these old time Hits. The Four Tops vocals had an imbalance in the sound system. Too many times the instrumentals drowned out the voices. The Temptations sound was adjusted and sounded great! Both groups were well received and all enjoyed. An opportunity to dance would have been much appreciated by the crowd.

There is at least one original singer in both groups. The Four Tops came out first and played favorites, while also offering some good history on the previous 3 original "Four Top" singers. The Temptations put on a great, high energy show. Both groups continue to sing and perform strong and absolutely true to the old sounds we all know and love.

Music became too loud n affected yours ears. Some people were covering their ears until it was adjusted.

It was an amazing show! The Four Tops & The Temptations were amazing as well. It was good to see an original member in each group- Duke and Otis! The songs were sung with precision! It took us back and reminded us what music really is- and what it's not!

As usual the boys were outstanding, nothing like seeing Duke do his solo, it wont be long now before the boys are retired for good. Better catch em' now. Jefrey-

Best show that I have been to in a long time! They encouraged the audience to sing along

Played all the old favorites. What a honor it was to get to see these two groups. I never thought I would have the pleasure of seeing these 2 great Motown legends. They were everything I expected. Sound could have been a little bit better, but they were great!!

The show was amazing. Great songs that I heard from my parents past. Makes me think that I grew up during the wrong era of music. The covered not just their hits but some of the hits that the helped write for some of the other great Motown artist such as Diana Ross and the Supremes. Was a great show well worth seeing and it helped that I had great company with a great friend and her parents was able to enjoy music they grew up with.

Had a blast at the Temptations concert. Enjoyed hearing all those songs and the memories they invoked. I wanted them to sing all night, it was truly a pleasure!

They still are smooth and so very professional. Excellent harmony and never missed a step. The whole audience seem to be delighted. We all wanted to just hang in there for as long as they performed. Great show!

First and formost, I want to thank both male groups for an outstanding performance and having me experience history live at NjPac. It was a surprise for my companion who is older In age and he enjoys old school genres of music. Being younger then him, I realized what we call music of today is nothing compared to the angels that sung on that stage that night. The show started on time, it was very organized, and The Temptations as well as The Four Tops Blessed the audience from beginning to end with their gifts. The music was so soothing and I felt honored to simply be in there presence for such a time In closing , my companion and I salute both groups and please continue to bless us with your gifts.

What a great concert in a great venue! They started on time, played for more than 2.5 hours, and were very good. I especially loved that they encouraged the crowd to stand and dance. Very neat experience.

Loved the Temptations!!!!!!!!! So nostalgic! Four Tops were good but I thought they talked way too much and needed to do more of the 4 tops songs vs solo songs! But still enjoyed them as well

This was a very fun concert! Nothing like going back to old school days and enjoying a great group! Temptations were super! Enjoyed the whole experience! And what an amazing venue - Views for DAYS! so incredibly scenic!

I can't wait to see them again! I love the Temptations and the Four Tops and I highly recommend their show. They sang all their hits. I definitely got my money's worth!

First time at the St George Theater. Very impressed with the theater and the professional show. Will be back!

The concert was disappointing. Though the band was terrific. The Temptations sang way too many new songs I never heard of, promoting a new album. The Four Tops were better I suppose that's why the went on last. I felt the show was lacking some energy. I can't put a spin on it, it just felt the concert was ok not great

6:45 running down my front steps, so excited, been waiting to see this show for months, fell on bottom step and felt the crack. Broke my wrist! So disappointed, X-ray tech sang temptations songs to me. Hope everyone enjoyed the much anticipated show but know I don t have to guess. I m sure it was amazing! So upset I missed it!

Saw original of this show on Broadway! Maybe putting another 2 years on the groups has taken a toll. Original version played more of the classics. Maybe the "younger" Temps and Tops have influenced the song list to include more 70's and 80's, when the audience is interested in 60's! Hard to believe Tops leaving "Up on the Roof" off a set list. But if you love Motown, and have not seen this show yet, do it. But don't expect to hear Kendriks and Ruffin! Just enjoy for what it's worth.

This was a gift for my Dad! He came home with rave reviews about how awesome the music was!

The groups were great, the sound is always awesome ANYWHERE in the house. The new marquee is beautiful. But the lighting design on the stage is STILL poorly lacking. And the bathrooms need to be updated next! But always an enjoyable evening! Feels good to be young again!

What an amazing performance!! They were spectacular and put on a great show! So much energy and fun!

Temptations' singing and dancing was just a lot of fun. All the songs sounded close to the originals and they played all their hits. Four Tops - often times took until about half way through the song to know which one it was - just a bit off.

The Four Tops and the Temptations were great even though only one member of each group is an original member. The venue was uncomfortable. The St. George Theater seats had less legroom than ancoach airline seat

Let me just say that I love Motown. I grew up in the South (boogie down) Bronx, listening to music that made me want to do better and be better than my surroundings. So, with that said the Four Tops did not disappoint. The lead singer is no Levi Stubbs and couldn't even come close to the sound but they were sharp, engaged and put on a good show. Now them Temptations tho!!!! Let me tell you, Otis has put together a group that rivals even the original members. The sound, the uniforms, the dance steps, the orchestration, and YES THE MUSIC was awesome. Do yourself a favor and catch this act before its gone. You will not be disappointed. The whole theater was on our feet. Excellent!

The 4 Tops were great, but The Temptations were outstanding!!!!

It was an awesome performance done by ear artist. I love old school R& B performers.

The show was very good. The Temptations were great, their stage presence was excellent! The Four Tops should have opened though, their energy lagged a little.

Both groups are great - every song they sing is a song you have heard. We are in our low 40s and were among the younger of the crowd. But I gotta say - the crowd had a lot of energy! DPAC is such a great venue as well.

I enjoyed the Temptation part of the show, they were great and brought back a lot of memories, but the 4 Tops looked like they were lip singing and were off their Q by a few seconds. I was disappointed.

Great show for both groups, the new members blended in perfectly.

I took my mother-in-law, sister-in-law and daughter. We had a BALL!! This was my mom-in-law's first concert ever. She was so excited throughout the entire show. It was a Great Time for us all!

Temptations surpassed my expectations however the 4 tops did not they seemd off and not too excited to perform

Comerica Theatre is a good venue to see a show. All the members of both groups were into the show and enthusiastic. However, the sound technicians were not. The magic in The Temptations and The Four Tops is in their voices. This was all lost in a muddled, washed out sound system. Very, very disappointing.

Just awesome groups. Don't make them like that anymore. Legends that wrote, sang and produced their own music.

I was looking forward to this show for many weeks. I had seen both groups in the past and was wowed by their harmonies, dance moves, and fantastic songs. Unfortunately, the evening was a mixed bag. The Temptations were up first, and played for over an hour. They did all of their hits, harmonized and danced, and interacted with the crowd. I sang and danced along with them and had a fantastic time. Everyone was up dancing by the end of their set. After a brief intermission, it was the 4 Tops turn. I wasn't impressed with the musical introduction that was played before they took the stage. And, their first song was more obscure and didn't sound Motown. They recovered nicely by doing some of their hits, but then a BIG downturn. They covered songs by Whitney Houston, Bobby Darin, Marvin Gay and another artist that I don't remember. I came to hear 4 Tops song, not songs made famous by other artists. And, some of the songs varied greatly from the original style, and again, didn't sound Motown. Those songs were accompanied by stories and tributes that were interesting. Then, it was back to the hits. But, they were in a medley style, and that didn't do justice to any of the songs. It would have been better if each song was played separately and maybe even verses repeated. As I said earlier, Temps - Great! Tops just ok.

Had such an amazing and unforgettable night with my best friend and her mom and Aunt. We were able to go to the stage and shake the 4 Tops hands and even get hugs! It was soooo much fun!! The whole show brought back amazing memories and was just magical!!!

I learned to dance hearing these two groups. It was a great review of their classic hits. Sad to say, there were only 1 original member in each group.... some great voices have been stilled by time. Sang along. Swayed along. I was wonderfully led in the great sounds of my yourh.

The Temptations were amazing. Their lead singer had a voice like no other and has managed to keep the Temptations the class act they always have been. The Four Tops is a sorry group now. Their lead singer's voice was so annoying that I watched people leave the theater in droves. The other singer who sang "Mack the Knife" was so off key and the band was not in sync at all with him. We left half the way through their concert and the sad thing is, is that my son and his friend had gone mostly to see them and it proved a huge disappointment. I can't believe they couldn't find a single singer who had a voice close to Levi Stubbs to keep their act as close to the original as possible. Change isn't always good, especially when you go to see the classics.

The Temptations performed wonderfully; the sound was excellent and the music was what we hoped for and expected. For whatever reason, when the Four Tops hit the stage, the sound was scratchy and the song selection not what we hoped for.

Concert in Phoenix Arizona 1/26/2018 would have been above average if the Temptations would have performed solo. 4 Tops kept singing other peoples songs and were talking more than they were singing. Finally at the end they sang a couple of their hits, but by that time several people had already left. Would not see the 4 Tops Again.

How you call yourselves "The Temptations" and "The Four Tops" when there are only 1 original member from each band left? While the Temptations at least, sounded like The Temptations, The Four Tops didn't even sound like them. It was disappointing. We left after hearing a few songs by The Four Tops. It was like watching a bad cover band. Better to see them in Vegas!

The acts seemed phony. They didn't come close to elegance and style of the original. Sound was harsh and poorly set. Disappointed.

Awesome show I had a great time. It was my first concert

I remember the songs from the Temptations from my adolescent years. They were a classy group. These Temptations, with the exception of the one original were equal in voice and choreography. They were truly entertaining beyond their singing. I would pay to see them again. However, when the Four Tops appeared on the stage, I was very disappointed because they did not do the original group justice. They screamed into the microphone, and the singing was less than pleasan. The choreography was poor, as they all appeared to be doing their own thing. Then the antics at an attempt to be humorous, in my opinion, failed terribly. I walked out with crowd that preferred not to stay for the completion of the performance.

Audience knew every word and every note and sang along. Great show. Amazing bands backed up both groups.

A BIT LESS THAN EXPECTED. THE TEMPTATIONS WERE MARGINAL, SOMETIMES NOT UNDERSTANDING THE MUFFLED WORDS. THE FOUR TOPS SAVED THE SHOW AND WERE MUCH THE BETTER WAS WORTH IT BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER.
