I have to be honest at first when he came out I thought I would probably leave at the intermission but when it came time for the intermission I realized that he is a "legend" and deserves my respect for someone that is 81 yrs old and getting up on that stage and giving it his all...I needed to stay and I'm so glad I did....this was an amazing concert!!!

His talent really showed last night! The concert made me realize what an exceptional talented person he is. Kris is one of the few who truly express their appreciation for the audience. What a great show! Thank you!

Absolutely amazing that one man with an acoustic guitar and harmonica can be so riveting! Over two hours flew by in what seemed like minutes. Kristofferson's songs are the stars...spellbinding stories, compelling and universal. His voice and timing so real that he is irresistible. A man with a generous spirit.

Absolutely the best...Kris looked great... was warm, captivating and sensational...the nostalgiically familiar Ryman surroundings must have been a passage back in time & almost surreal for him. The auditorium staff we observed did an outstanding job throughout the evening assisting and controlling the audience as need be. It was our first concert at the Ryman & we hope there will be opportunities to return.

Listening to Kris sing a selection of his songs brought back memories of all the days we spent together (figuratively) growing up and growing old. iIn a way, I was a little disappointed that he didn't bring along some back up musicians as accompaniment since Kris' vocal talent is somewhat lacking due in part I'm sure to his age. anyway, it was a great evening in a grand old place.

We loved seeing Kris and being there with him. It was my friend's birthday and since he had been an old friend of the late Johnny Cash who was also a friend of Kris it was a very special event for us. We were very disappointed because the microphone and speakers were set up so that Kris could not turn around while he was performing. The Walt Disney music hall is set up in the round so that every one could have a good view of the performer but all we saw was his back the intire time except when he turned and smiled during the applause. I am very disappointed in such a beautiful expensive hall. The floor should rotate during the performance or the entertainer should be microphone so he could move independently and turn to the entire audience. We were impress with Kris, his music and the songs he wrote "Sunday Morning Coming Down" brought the house down. I still felt cheated and felt like the surprise for my friend's brithday was not as it could have been. I hope that it will be possible to see him perform again in a different venue.

This was # 12 or 13 for going to a Kris Kristofferson concert - and this was as good as they all are. I honor his talent - his songs stir the soul. I honor the fact that he's still performing after all these years. Fabulous that it was just him - his guitar and his songs -- singing from the heart as he always does. At one point he said he was worried the Disney Concert Hall wouldn't invite him back because of empty seats - I didn't see any empty seats - and even if there were - the room was filled with love and admiration. See ya' again in January, Kris! (Santa Barbara!)

The man is a legend. his voice is better than ever, he played for 1.5 hours straight, just him and his guitar, and a room full of admirers. tracing 40 years of country and folk music history, he really is a master singer songwriter and perhaps the most underrated superstar of the 20th and 21st century. He is down to earth almost to a fault, and hasnt lost his charm in all these years. Bravo Kris and I hope many more years to come

What a scene! The magnificent Disney Hall stage. One man, alone with a guitar under a spotlight. And then, in his age-tested, raspy voice, Kris Kristofferson begins with one of the poignant classics that launched his career. His heartfelt renderings brought me back to that first time my husband and I saw him many years ago when he was the unknown opening act to Linda Rondstadt (sp?) at the Troubador. His lyrics are sheer poetry, and the show was one I feel privileged to have shared with the appreciative audience.

It had many years since I'd seen Kris in concert and I was anticipating this night with unabashed enthusiasm. The lack of his back up band though turned what used to be great rollicking fun into a pretty sedate experience. Kris, not really great with the small talk and banter many artists are really good at in a concert setting, seemed a bit awkward and out of place in the huge concert hall. He fumbled often with his harmonica and his voice is rockier than ever as age creeps in. The songs however, were great, gone were many of the overtly political songs which cost him greatly in the late 80's and early 90's , and frankly I was happy to see them go. Kristofferson is and will always be the greatest poet of his time and when you listen to the words and the story he is telling you get a sense of the man himself. Would I recommend it? Sure, it wasn't fun but it was good and how often do you get to see a legend perform live?

It is too hard to imagine any 2 performers of such super stardom appearing on one stage at the same time. Both are performers, singers and songwriters and each has become a super star in country music, but so different.. Kris Kristofferson opened the show and it was apparent, he was having problems. he could not hit the high or low notes and couldn't hold a note, but if it was a cold, I am willing to forgive him. His songs are too noteable not too enjoy. Merle Haggard, after a raspy start, warmed up and has a honey-sweet voice and sang the old favorites we all love. After only 2 hours, the show was over. The crowd gave a standing ovation, but alas it was over. This crowd was the type that would listen all night and still be singing Sunday Morning Comin' Down as they went out for breakfast the next day.

Kris, his guitar and harmonica, appeared on stage and it was magic! He sang and told stories like we were his dear friends. He is so skilled in telling the story and shared them about some of the songs. He took requests from the audience and talked to people close by. It was a rare treat, being in the presence of a genius of lyric!!! A real five star show and performer. First time at Fraze and I was very impressed. It is a beautiful venue and all the people were so pleasant every step of the way.

Great, excellent, well worth it. Kris was very original with only he, his guitar, and harmonica on statge. He is extremely creative. He also has wonderful connection with the audiance. He comes across relaxed, down to earth, and like the guy next door. He also tells funny jokes from time to time. I think for a one person performed, playing with limited equipment that he is outstanding. He sort of reminds me of the way Bob Dylan was during the 1960s. Also, all of the proceeds of the concert went to the Music Hall of Fame. This is very charitable of Kris. All and all, I highly recommend his performance to anyone.

Kris was awesome! Merle Haggard's band, The Strangers were a great addition to the show. Really enjoyed hearing the Merle songs scattered throughout the set. I was really looking forward to seeing this icon in Clearwater Fl. Unfortunately I left after 45 mins. He guitar playing was slow and weak and he mumbled through the words. From the first song it was obvious that it was going to be a long tough night for this iconic singer songwriter. Eighty one years have taken their toll on Kris Kristofferson. He talked more than sang most of the songs, his guitar playing was slow and uneven and he really never took good advantage of the very talented Earl Scruggs Band that was backing him up. If you are going for the music save your money. If you are going to see a great American poet songwriter make it to this tour because it doubtful based on this performance that there will be another tour.

This was a benefit for Leonard Peltier and you can form your own opinion, but the lineup of Joe Ely, Rita Coolidge, Jellie Colter, Arlo Guthrie, Shooter Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Jamie Johnson backed up by some great Tulsa musicians couldn't have made for a better night. This was my first time to the BOK, I can see why it is one of the top music venues in the country. Each of the artist had time to play some of their best tunes and visit with the audience a bit. What a night!

Kristofferson was at his best, as well as all his friends from Rita Coolidge to Shooter Jennings, Jessi Colter, Joe Ely, Arlo Guthrie, Peter Coyote, and more... .all to be summed up in a magical musical moment with Jamey Johnson and the the gang. The benefit lasted 4 hours and told the history of the injustices against the Native American people and specifically Leonard Peltier who has spent the last 40+ years in prison after being unlawfully and unjustly convicted. All proceeds went to his legal aide fund. All the artists performed their hearts out with one common goal - to give us a night we wouldn't soon forget, and raise awareness. As Kris would sing, "I want justice, but I'll settle for some mercy.....!"

RockTraveler
Having grown up listening to Kris Kristofferson by way of my stepfather, it seemed fitting to take him to see his hero at the Southern Theatre last Wednesday. We were both excited and were ultimately NOT disappointed when the nearly 81-year singer/songwriter old took to the stage alone with just his guitar. Dressed in black and still sporting a good amount of gray hair, Kris launched into an unforgettable evening of storytelling through his legendary songwriting. In between songs, Kris kept the banter to a minimum and instead let the words and sparse music do the talking to a thrilled Ohio audience. His playing, while competent and befitting the overall mood, was what you'd expect of someone of his age (and mileage). He made no attempts at chords, soloing, or other extravagant flourishes. Instead he picked notes faintly and even ended songs abruptly while shaking his head and shrugging his shoulders apologetically. The crowd only seemed to love him more for it. I later learned that his memory has sadly failed him recently, although the video-assist monitor onstage insured no mix-ups on his hard-hitting lyrics. Overall, it was a thrill to see this veteran play out all his best hits and intersperse them with other gems. While many of his contemporaries have long gone, Kris still seemed to enjoy his magical way of connecting by storytelling before an adoring audience. Class and style that are one-of-a-kind came to Columbus that night and we had a blast.

Such a likable man, contagious smile especially at the end of a song....I think even he was amazed that his loyal fans (like myself, that's why I went) applauded so appreciatively in spite of his poor sounding guitar, ' ok' for an 80 year old voice, and unusual 'abrubt' song endings. He is a legend, a gifted song writer, talented...all the above, but unless you were satisfied to see a legend in person no matter the cost (almost 80 bucks in my case) and not hear anywhere near professional caliber music it would be disappointing. The person attending with me (who loves him ,too) trying to find something nice to say, said, "it sure takes a lot of guts to stand up there all that time alone with only a guitar and no back up band'. To which I responded, "It takes a lot of guts to charge over $ 60+ plus all the ticket fees/charges to the show". I say God Bless Kris and Why ME Lord? (feelin' bad for being critical)

Over the years I have seen more concerts than I can count. Seeing Kris Kristofferson at the Ryman was one of the best concerts I have ever seen. The venue was perfect for Kris to stand up on stage (with not even a stool to sit on) with his acoustic guitar and play song after song after song. Between the venue and his intimate performance, it felt like I was sitting in someone's living room watching Kris perform in the same room. it was another great night at the Ryman! It always is when Kristofferson is there. He was a one man show until the very last song when a few of his old friends joined him on stage. He was joined by former bandmates, Billy Swan, Donnie Fritts, and songwriter Chris Gantry on "Why Me".. Kris started the show by simply walking out with a guitar, and singing. That's the way the evening went... Beautiful songs sung by a man with amazing lyrics. I always wonder how he remembers them all.. ands then it occurs to me .... He is a genius.

I absolutely love Kris Kristofferson! I also live in Nashvile, and the Ryman is one of my favorite venues in the city. I love it's history, and most of all the intimacy. There is really no bad seating, and you feel a part of the show. Kris is still awesome at 76! It was a great experience! I give it 5 Stars!

Kris Kristofferson was one of the best shows I have ever seen. It was awesome to finally hear the legend that I grew up listening to. If you get the chance take the time to go and hear the best word smith of all time. His music is timeless and his delivery is perfect.

An evening with K.K. was unforgetable. Raw, intimate, this prolfic songwriter did not disappoint. A 2 plus hour show of his hits and new song's delighted all in attendance. K.K. is truly an icon. The last song of the evening " "Why me Lord" with Larry Gatlin, and road crew including his daughter had most everyone in tears. What a night!!!

On time, in tune and of good cheer! He walked out at 8:00-just Kris, his guitar and harmonica. He performed all the songs you would expect and a few others for real fans. His voice was in great condition and his mood upbeat. At 76 years old, he finally seems happy!

First, a disclaimer: I have been a fan of Kris Kristofferson since I was a college student in the late sixties. I don't know if the man will ever read this, but if he does, I would like him to know that I think his lyrics are poetry. I am a published poet myself, and I count him as one of America's finest poets. This being said, the evening was even better than I had expected. There were no delays, no opening acts, no theatrics. It was two hours of pure entertainment. I didn't use a flash, because I did not want to distract from his performance, but I did get a picture I'm proud of.

I have been a Kris Kristofferson fan for 40 years and love his recent concerts - just him and his guitar and harmonica. He always sings his most famous songs, so the audience is always happy - the only reason that he doesn't hit all of my favorites is because he would be there all night - there are so many!! He is personable, has a self-depracating sense of humor, and doesn't skimp on the songs - it's a lengthy concert. I was in the orchestra section at Spreckels, so I had a great seat. The only bad thing about the whole night was a guy in one of the front rows that kept yelling things and disrupting the performers (not just Kris, but the excellent comedian that opened the show.) I wish the ushers would have been more proactive about making him be quiet or leave. He wasn't showing respect for the performers or for the people that paid over $100 to hear the performers.

Sad to see the forgetfulness, however he was able to use quick wit to overcome. I would have liked a little more banter with the crowd. I believe he still has a lot to offer. I believe his voice was better.

What an amazing opportunity to see one of the greatest songwriters of our time for who knows if it may be one of the last times! He was in top form as far as I was concerned in good voice and played a great setlist. The audience on the other hand was more immature than if I had been to a Justin Bieber concert -- flash photography throughout the whole show, constantly texting on their phones, talking over the music and one women yelling how she wanted to sleep with Kris!!! Really -- the majority of this crowd had to be in their late 60s and 70s! Grow up!!!! It did not totally take away from the show but this was NOT a beer hall -- it was an OPERA hall. Know your venue. I wish Kris would have told them to knock if off.

Never being able to see Kris in concert didn't know what to expect from a 80 year old performer. Kris has a unique talent for writing songs about life. At 80 years old it amazing he still has the talent to perform live concerts. Maybe not as sharp as 20 years ago but still a great concert by one of the legendary song writers.

Sounded and looked great but didn't talk at all other than a quick bit about Bob Dylan. Very enjoyable evening.

The only way to really describe this concert is to call it moving. For long time fans, the evening took on a personal feeling with Kristofferson sending out his lyrics almost at an individual level. He clearly remains the brilliant and insightful poet/songwriter we all have known so well for so many years, but when he sang "Please Don't Tell Me How the Story Ends" it had a truthfulness that was both difficult and honest. If you're a long time follower and fan...a real fan...do NOT miss this opportunity.

I was so happy to spend the evening with you and relive some of my the days of my life. Your songs have been been with me for over forty years (saw you back in 1974). Your work has been a great part of my life. It was a show that I will not forget.

Saw Kris Kristofferson for the first time and loved the show. He sang for 2 hours with a short break - just him without a band. You could tell he thoroughly enjoyed being there with the audience. He still has the ability to draw people in to see his show. Highly recommend seeing him if you have the chance. Hope he tours again in this area of the country - will go again

There is no doubt that Kris Kristofferson can express all that we feel, hope, dream, and fear in his lyrics. Perhaps being solo on stage and being the age he is laid bare the emotional connection his words forge with your soul. His body of work transcends the passage of time, the physical changes we all face, and it was easy to embrace the evening's experience as a wonderful opportunity to "make it through the night" with Kris!

Kris Kristofferson is a legend. He came on stage old school style, just him, a guitar and a harmonica. Nothing else. Nothing else needed. He played for two hours and at 80 is just as badass as ever. He did not disappoint. If you get the chance check it out, you will not be disappointed. .

Kris came on stage by himself, wearing black, and a guitar. More real and raw than ever. Stunningly beautiful delivery of simple lyrics that hit down to the bone. My favorite performance by far.

At age 80, Kris remains as charming and moving as ever. He played all his best known songs and many others. Just Kris, his guitar, his voice... harmonica a few songs. That's all he needed, no band necessary. His songs are both simple and deep at the same time, and it was great to hear him sing them. For anyone who appreciates the beauty of simplicity, and the point where folk and country cross, go hear Kris in concert. A perfect evening.
