Basically had first row seats for $45. The Violent Femmes have always been one of my favorite bands, and this concert was honestly my favorite ever. Thank you for an incredible venue and even better show!

I hadn t seen the Femmes since the '06 Festa Italiana (Miller Stage) gig. The Summerfest reunion show was fantastic. They played the entire classic 1st album in order opening with Blister in the Sun . They they still sounded great. Brian Ritchie played some mean xylophone on Gone Daddy Gone . For the album closer Good Feelings , sharing lead vocals with Gordon Gano was Sammy BoDean. Great duet. After the 1st album they played songs from the rest of their catalog. The Horns of Dilemma (the original members) came out for this Confession section. The set ended with American Music and for the encore they did Blister again.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros & the Avett Brothers were the best part of the concert. The Avett Brothers rocked the crowd, sounded amazing and made the entire concert worthwhile. If I were just reviewing the first 2 bands, then I would have given it a definite recommended, but unfortunately, the Violent Femmes came on. Not only did it take them 45 minutes to set up after the Brothers finished, they came on the stage as though they just woke up from a nap. They looked and sounded old and tired. It's like the band never played together or practiced. Time to hang it up, Femmes. It was almost as if each member was playing a different song at the same time. Gordon Gano was so off key and basically relied on the crowd to sing all the songs. The drummer seemed to be the only one on key and able to move more than a foot or two on stage. Horrible, horrible. Left after a few songs. Couldn't listen anymore.

I couldn't see. They didn't play long enough. They repeated a song. There were far too many empty seats. It was barely a rock concert! I want my money back I had such a boring time.

It has been years, but I saw the Femme's in Fargo North Dakota at The Hub. They were outstanding! The entire audience was dancing and singing along. If you have the opportunity to see these guys take it! You won't be disappointed.

I was so excited to see this show!!! The opener was ok. But she played a really long time which made the Echo and The Bunnymen late getting set up and on. Then there was a long time between them and the Violent Femmes. For a week night it turned into a very long evening. If they could have skipped the opener and Echo had just been the opener then I could have stayed for the whole show. As It was almost 11 pm before Violent Femmes came on I had to leave before they finished their set. I was pretty disapointed that I couldn't see the whole show. They we wonderful and the energy was great. Over all the show was good but was to long.

Venue: This was an interesting first time (and probably last) at Northerly Island. Our tickets showed 6pm start time. We arrived at 6pm after dealing with traffic to find huge lines everywhere. If the show was supposed to start 6pm then they definitely weren't on time. If the show was supposed to start later, then the tickets need to state that the venue opens at 6pm. We rushed for no reason since it didn't actually start until well after 7pm. Then it's an outdoor venue and had been raining all day. We were told we couldn't bring in our umbrellas. If you are going to do that to people, then you need to make that very clear on the tickets. Ridiculous. Spent 30 minutes going back to my car to return my umbrellas. With the opening act only using a guitar, why did it take another 30 minutes to get the next band set up. Then the final act took over 40 minutes to set up and didn't start until 9:46pm. That's even more ridiculous! Acts: Violent Femmes were great. I didn't know all the songs but they put on a great show and really engaged the audience. Echo & The Bunnymen were interesting. I kind of understand the mystique of having no one visible but it was very awkward for the audience. You really couldn't get excited about the band other than when they played a song that everyone knew. They were blowing through the set list. Very underwhelming since they have great music.

very below average venue postponed opening the doors, due to weather Echo had no screens because it was a dark stage, making it hard to see. Ian McCullogh still had it, but rest of band did not.

Ava Mendoza opened and seemed a little mismatched for the crowd. Her mix was a little off and her set was pretty distorted. Some of her work was really good - but it still seemed a little miss-matched for these two groups and the crowd. I'll give her another listen though - to be fair. Echo & the Bunnymen came next - played a decent set, but seemed a little stiff on stage. They didn't seem to be into the performance very much. The Viloent Femmes BROUGHT IT! Very high energy performance - pulled the crowd in and didn't let go until the encore. Despite a rain delay between Echo & the Femmes to let the lightning pass and dry off the stage- the show seemed to go off without a hitch.

I went to see Echo but I was blown away by the performance of the Femmes. The Femmes played an AMAZING set of their best hits and they got the crowd going with blue-grass-rock-a-billy style music that was awesome! The Meadow Brook Amphitheatre is a great venue; small and intimate; affordable ticket prices; the drinks were a bitt pricey; they had OK food. When Echo came on, they did not turn the spot lights on them through the entire concert; I couldn't see a thing. The sound was terrible; everything sounded pre-recorded. Ian's mike was static-y or he was mumbling the whole time because I couldn't understand anything he said when he spoke to the audience. The band just stood there and played; no energy, enthusiasm or excitement on their part :-(

Echo and the Bunnymen were great. Ian still has a great voice. The Vilent Femmes always do a crazy, fast-paced show. Makes you want to dance! The sound was really good for both bands too! The venue - the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion, drives me crazy! It's really cool to be outside, under a tent, by the waterfront. HOWEVER, there's not enough of a "slope", so each time I've gone to a show there, I can't see jack because everyone is so much taller than me . Even on tiptoes (Im 5 feet tall) I'm having to loo through, down, and around people. It the stage was higher or the seating more sloped....I'm not sure, but this is definitely not the greatest set up. And I will not go to a show to watch the tv screens on the sides of the stage

Blue Hills Bank Pavilion is a great venue in the new Southie. 7/15/17 was a perfect weather night for the Pavilion. Rain or cold temps would have hindered the experience. Echo was fantastic. Great cohesion. They covered The late great Lou Reed very well. Finished with Lips Like Sugar. Violent Femmes was a completely different experience with than anticipated. I expected punk freaks. Not the case. Great musicians. Excellent vocals. The sax player was fantastic. Highly recommended

Hadn't seen the Femmes since the 90s. Even without Victor, they've still got it. The new songs blended in nicely with the big hits. Echo & The Bunnyman, opening with Sugar Kisses put us on our feet and we never sat back down! The band could use a little team building on their stage stance, but the music was fantastic. Violent Femmes has always had a following, and I believe all was in attendance this evening! The walk through the crowd while playing hand held instruments was unexpected and rather impressive with the crowd size. Once on stage the theatrics continued and between songs the interaction with the crowd could only be labeled a comedy skit. Very impressive after all these years to have such stage presence. Highly encourage all to go see this tour if you are lucky enough to have it come to your town. Well worth it!!!

I've been a casual fan of the Violent Femmes for years, but it wasn't until I saw them in January that I realized I was missing out. They quickly became a favorite band. When I heard about this show, my friend and I decided to go. They put on such an amazing show. I love that they are still as passionate about their music as they were when they first started. They performed all of their popular songs (Blister in the Sun, Add It Up) as well as a few that I personally love (Color Me Once was FABULOUS). And they had an autograph session after! Only thing I'm complaining about (and is this completely beyond VF's control) was that the crowd would talk during the slow songs. I recorded some video here and there and the crowd can be heard more clearly than the performance. :/ Still awesome to see them live. I will totally see them again whenever they're in So Cal.

The Violent Femmes and Echo & The Bunnymen delivered the goods on Saturday, July 21st at the BMO Harris Pavilion on the Summerfest Grounds. It was a soggy night and the Festa Italiana folks must have been bummed as the crowds were way down and most of the place was drenched. In spite of the rain that cancelled the fireworks and briefly delayed the Violent Femmes from taking the stage, the capacity crowd that stayed in the relatively dry confines of the pavilion were treated to a raucous Femmes concert that was as much rock concert as cathartic rock revival. Echo & the Bunnymen tore through their sets with precision and efficiency but the lead man's garbled English banter was completely lost and sounded more like a train announcers attempts to communicate the next stop in a foreign language. The Femmes ended with a two songs ... Jesus Walking on the Water and Big Hands and that pretty much summed up the concert from the appreciative crowds perspective. An iconic 80's Indie Band from Milwaukee making it big seemed like a miracle (Jesus Walking..) and in the ensuing 30 years they matured into a fun and engaged live presence that was encompassed by Big Hands raucous ending. The crowd left the soggy Summerfest grounds happy.

Echo opened and def off and can't say I knew many of their songs, even tho' I had most of their albums in college -- alright, thanks. Violent Femmes came on and think they played 4 or 5 songs I knew. They have a dozen + great songs and they're playing what?? What a waste. Would not recommend seeing either of them if you're expecting the hits from the 80s. Add to the evening the Ford Amp which has to be one of the worst around NYC.

The boys got into it right off the bat blasting through two of their biggest hits within the first few songs. Don't worry, no let down, you will probably be familiar with/remember plenty of others. They sounded great too! If you hear some of the fan-recorded live videos on YouTube the sound is not always that great but live it is. At times you may have a bit of trouble hearing the music but that is only because you and your mates are singing the songs at the top of your lungs. Thunderous!

I love the Femmes, seen them multiple times throughout the years. They still have it. They sound great, played all of the favorites, started right out with some of the their most popular songs, awesome time. The crowd was a little older (30+) so no problems there. The venue was great, loads of bars, lots of space, I got there a half and hour early and was right up at the stage in the front. I took my younger daughter, who had a blast. (I made her bone up on all of their songs). So, don't hesitate to see the Femmes, they sound great, put on a good show, and we all sang along.

I am also a big fan of their old stuff and was so psyched to hear Country Death Song which you usually don't hear. Awesome!!

I was surprised at the fact that they didn't have set list and just played whatever they felt like playing, that made it feel like a jam session, which was great! I was also impressed with their musical talents, the range of instruments was quite a shock! I knew only a handful of the songs, but overall I enjoyed the show. The venue is not my favorite place to see a show, but I know enough to pay for a seat rather than stand among the people with vape pipes and other substances thrown in with lots of alcohol being consumed. I'm there for the music, which is all that matters. Musical memories are awesome. My suggestion - make lots of them!!!

They were awesome, I listened to them when I was in High school and had no idea what to expect from a band so long ago. They really did rock out. I was extremely pleased at their sound and the clarity.. The paramount venue really can't be beat, Not a bad seat in the house

The show was great. They played every song I loved and the crowd (a little entitled and rude) was peaceful. Some audience members threw their cups on the floor intentionally. The popcorn at the venue was really soggy and one of the draft beers tasted off. The sound was rear- wished I could hear the huge sax better. Musically phenomenal.

The Violent Femmes are not for everyone, but I had a blast. Wellmont Theater has charm but the sound in the GA bar section was poor. The crowd was great, I'd go see them again for sure. The fans actually knew the tunes off their new album which was refreshing - went to see Paul McCartney earlier this year and he even said no on knows their new music as the crowd dies in front of them.

I loved the fact that not only was I able to expose my 15 year old but also my former heavy metal hubby and both LOVED the Violent Femmes!!! They are one of my all time favorite bands and seeing them and NOTHING has changed as far as the energy of the band and fun of the concert from the early 90"s until now!

I thought this show would be good, but it really exceeded my expectation in every way! Even the opening act was amazing. The Violent Femmes sound great, and the Buckhead Theater was the perfect venue. I felt so up close and personal with this amazing band. If they come to your town, you don't want to miss out on this show!!!

Thought they still sounded great! Was my 6th time seeing them in the last 20 years. They still got it! The Pageant was an awesome venue. Not a bad spot to see the show in the whole place! If going there, look into getting there early by going in the bar!

Very solid performance. but definitely missing old drummer. Leaned heavily on new music, which sounded better live than on CD.

When I was in college in the 90s, the Femmes were the it-band. Every frat party, every house party would blast them out. Add It Up was the traditional closing song. Having heard them about 20 times live at the Blue Note in Columbia, it was great to see them back on tour. Gano and Ritchie were awesome, and while I miss Victor, the new drummer was great. They sounded fantastic!

The Violent Femmes took you back to the 1999s with their high energy show. They sounded a lot like they did in the early days with solid vocals and upbeat energy. The set list included most of the hits. For me, a notable exclusion was "Tonight" from their "Rock" cd. The Femmes are one of my favorite bands. I was glad to see them perform in Michigan. My body may have been outdated, but the Femmes were able to take me Back In Time!
