Cyndi Lauper

Cyndi Lauper

With her multi-colored hair, eccentric fashion, and string of decade-defining hits, Cyndi Lauper has become synonymous with ‘80s pop. Her 1983 debut She’s So Unusual was an overnight success – her bubblegum-meets-punk aesthetic resonated with the nascent MTV generation, making her a new wave icon and earning her a Grammy in 1985 for Best New Artist. A talented singer with a mercurial voice, Lauper showed off her impressive range with the 2010 release of Memphis Blues, which remained at No. 1 on the Blues Albums Chart for an impressive 14 weeks and received a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Blues Album.

I paid a lot of money to see A idol from the 80's. She was TWO hours late which was cool I had been to many of her concerts and watched her reality show, she's always late! But then she only has like 10 people to see her and she couldn't even be bothered with asking OUR names or even saying hi. Just a quick photo and GET the hell out!! Very sad. That being said she is awesome on stage she sounds amazing but the cute sweet funny person you see is all A act. ALSO this theater has no AC

I was at the Rosie O'Donnell/Cyndi Lauper concert in Niagara Falls Ontario last night. Rosie came out and instantly had the crowd laughing. She talked about her experiences in Niagara Falls which were hilarious. At the end of her set she introduced Cyndi who came out immediately - no break. As the band set up Cyndi and Rosie bantered and it was great because you felt their friendship and it was like listening in on two great friends who happen to be famous. Rosie stayed out for part of Cyndi's set singing backup before retiring to the back. Cyndi was amazing and came out into the crowd a few times mixing with the audience. At the end of the night Rosie came back out and joined Cyndi by playing drums (which she is very good at). The show lasted 2 1/2 hours with no intermission. Highly recommended!

For my daughter's 29th birthday, I surprised her with tickets to the first day of this tour, kicking off at the Avalon Theatre at the Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Rosie was buttering us up with her sardonic wit - however a little too much meet-n-greet spilled over onto the stage with unplanned and sparingly funny photo-ops with audience members. We were on the edge of our seats as she finally announced the perky siren to the stage when a crack in the dam creeped its way on the scene. The back up vocals, the lead guitar, the drums and keyboard were amped to perfection, but where was Cyndi? Her voice, her guitar: silence by Ursula's slippery eels. Our little mermaid couldn't even hear herself in her earpiece. And she was miffed. She shouldered her disdain for the situation until nearly halfway through the concert, frequently bending over to adjust monitor levels and stopping occasionally mid-lyric, searching for solutions. Our sweet songbird tried so hard to juice up the energy throughout, flitting across the stage and into the audience, but she was merely the little Dutchboy's finger in the dike. The consummate artist prevailed in pitch and integrity, and we admired her efforts, but we missed her. Her personality, her tenderness and her honesty were buried right in the beginning, and we watched as she struggled for freedom. In short, it's a good lineup and she's amazing, but we should have chosen the second day of the tour to offer our hearts to our favorite performer, because all we really got was her back.

Although a couple of glitches with technical stuff at the beginning - Cyndi has never let me down! She came back with a roar & the show was absolutely fantastic! Cyndi is such a great performer/singer/etc. Rosie started the show & was really funny - she is a great stand up comic! Her drum skills are pretty darn good too!!!!

For a good part of the concert, we felt like we were at a local club watching open mic nite instead of being at a "professional, world-class" venue. Technical problems existed with much of the sound equipment for at least 50% of Cindy's performance -- which you really don't expect when you're paying top dollar to see a professional artist perform! Not sure if the problems were related to her own equipment/crew or those of the venue where she performed, Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, but they did affect our overall experience. I have to give props to Lauper because she wouldn't let up and continued to "fine-tune" the sound, but you could tell that it began to take a toll on her as well. Also, she appeared to be tired at various points during the concert - even forgetting the lyrics to one of her songs... Rosie O'Donnell, who opened for Lauper, did not experience any technical problems, since she was only dealing with her own mic. The first 2/3 of her performance was entertaining and amusing, but once she allowed one fan to "interact" with her, it seemed like the rest of the show went downhill as she digressed with Q&A and picture taking with a few members of the audience.

Awesome show! Cyndi was in top form, and her set was full of surprises. She chose a great mix of hits and non-hits, touching on almost every album (except MERRY CHRISTMAS, SHINE, and AT LAST). Plus she did a number of cool odds and ends. For example, she did "Hole in my Heart" from VIBES and covered Joni Mitchell's Carey the same way she performed it on a television tribute in the early 2000s. Most amazing of all is that she did THREE Blue Angel songs, two of which were hardly obvious choices even though they re great songs. Cyndi got down into the crowd like she usually does, and she seemed to be having a good time. It would have been nice to hear more than one song off her latest album, BRING YA TO THE BRINK ("Echo" and "Rain on Me" would have been perfect). But she more than made up for any omissions-- in fact, I counted five songs I'd never heard live.

After 5 long (and 4 bad) warm up acts (including a midget Brittney Spears) Cyndi Lauper finally took the stage about 21/2 hours into her show. Though she had lots of energy she couldn't be heard for most of the show above her band who were badly over amp'd. I believe she was aware of the problem and she often became distracted, stopping singing to argue with the soundmen at the side of the stage. She rtepeatedly lost her place and even dropped her wireless apparatus several times. Not her most polished performance by any means and after paying $350.00 plus for my four tickets, I felt robbed.

Well as usual Cyndi Lauper did not disappoint. She opened the concert dressed in a tight white outfit with pants and a long sleeve shirt each covered with jewels. She was also wearing a feathery face mask that did not cover her face, but was light blue and probably a foot and a half tall. She still has the same energy she did in the 80's and she dances and sings just as well. She sang a lot of her top hits and some I had not heard before...including songs from her Bring It to the Brink CD that was released a few months ago. The energy she projects while singing is amazing and you can tell every song means a lot to her and she sings all of them with true feeling. She was on par as well with walking into the audience and singing. I saw her at the Northern Lights Theatre at Potawatomi back in 2006 and she did the same thing. She actually sang Goonies 'R' Good Enough right next to me which was AWESOME! She even held onto me to help keep her balance because she was standing on the metal bench that no one was sitting on because everyone was standing up as soon as she came on stage. This is only the second time I have seen her in concert and I loved both performances. I had 2nd row seats this time and the show was just amazing and she played for over an hour and a half. The band was great that she played with as well. She did have mic problems all night and you could tell she was getting upset, but she handled it very well.

Completely unexpected how personable Ms. Lauper is, her stories were very fun and funny. The country singing wasn't my favorite, but as a 64 year old, watching a 63 year old with Ms. Lauper's energy was inspiring... And we lived her old stuff and her double encore.

This was an excellent performance at a great venue. The concert started promptly at 8:00 p.m. with the Peach Kings. They were great and the lead singer was beautiful. I had never heard of this group before but they were great. Cyndi appeared on stage afterward with three young high school women from the LGBT center in Raleigh. The first young woman gave a heartfelt testimony and I really felt for her and the struggles she endured. Cyndi spoke about the HB2 bill and its discriminatory bias. I thought she discussed the inequities of the bill appropriately and didn't make an overly politically drawn out diatribe like she easily could have done. I appreciated that. Cyndi started the show with Funnel of Love which in my opinion reminded me of a song you could have heard on her She's So Unusual album. She played a number of hits from her new CD, Detour, as well as some of her classic hits. Cyndi sang one of my favorite songs, You Don't Know, which I've never seen her perform in all of the ten concerts or so of hers that I have attended. Listening to the lyrics of that song and the conviction with which she sang it was akin to a spiritual experience. A little girl of around 7 or 8 was dressed as Cyndi as she appeared during her True Colors days. The little girl actually went up on stage and accompanied Lauper as she sang Girls Just Want to Have Fun. It was really amazing. I had a front row seat in the center with Cyndi on stage just a few feet in front of me. I could have leaned in and touched her; she was that close. I went to the concert solo but the other folks in the front row and I were very sociable with one another. I felt like I was with friends. Also, there were a wide range of folks age wise there which I found refreshing. Cyndi closed her show singing True Colors. It was a great way to end a fantastic evening. This will go down as one of my best concert experiences ever!

Cyndi Lauper was not really my style of music back in the 80s, yet her songs caught my attention and I became a fan. There's a special Queens New York charm that she seems to personify along with child-like enthusiasm and quirkiness. This was once again apparent to me when I saw her show at the 'ol Music Hall/Wang Theatre here in Boston. She did most of her popular songs, chatted it up with the audience, and of course sang Prince's song "When You Were Mine." Her songs from Detour were actually pretty good and I must say that I enjoyed them very much. All-in-all it was a good show. Note that besides a 15-minute set by a DJ, Cyndi opened the show, followed by another DJ set and then Boy George. Now Culture Club music was never interesting to me, but I stayed for the second act and actually enjoyed the nostalgia of it all.

I loved that neither of them was the opening act . They were just double billed and I can't even tell you one was better than the next . WOW!!! Last night's concert was A-MAZING!! It's was like having ...well it wasn't like it actually WAS... Two concerts and a stand-up comedy show all in one night!! Cyndi Lauper's energy and voice were INCREDIBLE!!! And the new country album songs she sang mixed in with her classics just made the range of her talent that much more incomparable!!! Already downloaded the album from iTunes and loving it!! Rosie RAILED on Trump almost her entire set and had myself and the audience rolling in the aisles with laughter!! Boy George opened with a video montage of just about every video-archived clip of the Culture Club years and took us all back to those days when myself and the world were first introduced to his incredible talent and groundbreaking style and persona that is Boy George and his mix of Blues, Pop classics and Reggae had me (and the audience) literally jumping and dancing like I was 17 all over again!!! What an incredible night it was!!!

The show featured a lot of the new country songs. But she of course included all the main hits. Her energy is amazing. Her voice is still perfect. Cyndi is soooo much more than 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun'. She is such a multi faceted talent. She write deep lyrics with meaning, dedicated 'Dear John' to Sinead O'Conner who went missing in Chicago that morning. Sang 'When You Were Mine' for Prince (he wrote it). She bounces all over the stage like nobody's business but when she sits down to play her dulcimer...you get sucked in to the magic that is Cyndi Lauper. I have seen her a million times and will continue to show up at her party every time she is in Chicago.

Live music is always a plus and the atmosphere of the Ryman made it a little more cozy. She's funny, had some great stories, played a mix of well known hits and some new country music, which prompted me to buy her new album. I would see this tour and show again and again. My ONLY complaint was the opening act, Peach Beans or something. I couldn't understand a word the singer sang or said as the microphone was on her mouth the whole time. Roughly 1/3 of the lower level left during the warm up returning when Cyndi was setting up.

Concert was excellent! After 30 years of solo career, Cyndi still "has it". She is (always has been to me) unbelievably accessible (don't know of any other artist that has so much interaction with the public in general)! Beyond the norm, I got a backstage pass to meet and greet which was an unforgettable experience. Not only did I get to meet her and take pictures with her, but her manager, Lisa, was extremely pleasant. She had a nice conversation with me on the side and told me about future plans/projects. We, too, took pictures together :) The only relatively "down" side of this is that picture taking while performing was not allowed. I say relatively because while one "can't show off", one gets to experience the concert to the max. (Which is what is really all about). Cyndi gave me her hand while performing on stage and walked down off of it, stood next to me while hitting the high notes of the song that first made me her fan, "Money Changes Everything". Absolutely worth every penny...and then some!

This was the 12th time I have seen Cyndi Lauper in concert. I lucked out with the presale as there was a glitch with Ticketmaster. I guess many people gave up but I kept on trying for an hour after it started. I was able to get second row dead center. Happy that there was an empty seat in front of me. Cyndi puts on a true concert. She does not need all the hype you see with many of today's artists (no dancers, special effects etc.). It is just straight singing and it sounds just like you were listening to her on a CD. I love how she told stories about the lyrics to many of the songs. She truly loves and appreciates her fans and it shows in the performance she puts on. Would go see her again in a heartbeat.

It was awesome seeing Cindy she is high energy awesome vocals and beautiful! Cameras are allowed inside which is great. She performed about two hours. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I did not expect there to be so much Blues. Her opening band played about an hour, all Blues. If you are into Blues great but if not you may get a little bored at this time like I did. When she came out she did a few blues songs but her energy is so incredible that I was into it! Wow is all I can say -- not every talented musician is also a great live performer. Cyndi Lauper has it in spades! The woman is unstoppable. Pushing 60 with more energy and life in her than any teenager I know! And man can she sing! It's funny, I never even loved Cyndi Lauper when I was a kid and she was "it" (respected her but wasn't a huge fan) but as an adult, I SO like and respect her as a musician, as a kids/gay rights/humanitarian activist, and as a fellow earthling (New Yoowrk Betty Boop accent and all!) She's just amazing. Long set split in half starting with Dr. John, who was great, but whose jazz talents were somewhat lost on me as someone who doesn't love/know jazz enough to discern the nuances of what makes him great. I was there for Cyndi and she delivered! (My single disappointment is that she didn't sing "I Drove All Night," a 90's hit that I loved. She's also hilarious -- talked up a storm. Had no idea she was an aspiring comedian!

What a FABULOUS show. Dr John played for 1 Hr 15 min and then Cyndi "rocked the house." I waited 25 years and finally got to see her and she did NOT disappoint. Cyndi has an amazing voice and looks absolutely stunning. I was already looking for another venue to see her and bring others with me. What an amazing performance that left you in awe and wanted much more.

Dr. John was cookin' playing piano, organ (sometimes at the same time) and guitar. He is so talented no wonder he is in the Hall of Fame. Cyndi can belt out the blues better than anyone we have ever seen. Her energy level is out of this world, her voice incredible. She really knows how to connect with her audience, telling stories, dancing thru the crowds and standing on seats while dancing and singing. She never stoped. Besides the blues she also did some of her oldies but goodies! Her band was great, very tight, with the added treat of Charlie Musslewhite on the harmonica. Cyndi and the band actually looked like they were having fun too!

ATLANTIC CITY Tropicana, Friday December 10th 2010 On June 22nd 2010, Cyndi Lauper released in the USA her 11th studio album, Memphis Blues , a cover blues album she co-produced with Scott Bomar and recorded in march 2010 in Memphis (Tennessee). An album Cyndi had been wanting for eight years and she could finally make, giving her very personal and refined touch to one of the most loved and complex musical genres of all times. And on Memphis Blues (Naïve-Downtown Records), featuring blues legends as B.B. King, Anne Peebles, Allen Toussaint, Charlie Musselwhite and Johnny Lang, is mainly focused Cyndi Lauper s winter series of gigs, after the first leg taking place during last summer in the USA. Everything is ready for a great night, really a night to remember. True legend Cyndi Lauper is performing at Tropicana and the excitement spreads all over the place. Thanks to a friend I can buy a front row tix and enjoyed the show from there, not even took pics just a couple as I am sooo happy to be there in that moment, I wanna remember and cherish in my heart every single second of that magic night. She is on stage, introducing her amazing band mostly from Memphis right away, and starting with her exciting high energy version of Just your fool : when the song starts to play everybody is in heaven, she s coming! Impossible to sit down, the crowd starts dancing and clapping. She already has all the crowd with her. A fan gives her flowers right away, her glow is always unbelievable but it is even more unbelievable on that night. Shattered dreams follows and we all know how deep is Cyndi s interpretation when she sings this song. Early in the morning follows. This song is originally by Louis Jordan. Cyndi is talking to the audience a lot and gives us some blues education. She tells us the story about how she felt while singing the song and explained the video scene she had in front of her eyes while recording it, as if it was a movie with Sophia Loren she adored. She makes jokes at someone telling her: I love you! : I love you too but it won t work if we lived together\u2026.I have too many cosmetics . She is very up that night and I am so happy! Hound dog follows. Originally a blues song written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller and recorded by Willie Mae Big Mama Thornton in 1952 , the most famous version being done by Elvis Presley. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can t believe I m there, felt so blessed I could attend this gig from Italy (I am Italian), Cyn totally ROCKS!! She then sings Romance in the dark sitting on stage and she looks at me, sings part of this beautiful song just in front of me and I m totally blown away. How blue can you get follows, and the pure energy Down don t bother me . Always love Down so low as Cyndi really has the power to make me forget all the sad stuff when I listen to her and this blues stuff live is even more uplifting. Powerful Crossroads follows and Rolling and Tumblin . Cyndi tells us about all the thrill she experienced when singing at the same microphone with Ann Peebles when recording the song in Memphis, and feeling like Kung Fu Panda when this happened. And she rushes in the audience and climbs on chairs several times during 2Don t cry no more . After a short pause, she is on stage again and gives us a beautiful Christmas Present. She sings her version of Lead me on , an old slavery song. Cyndi explains this is one of the most beautiful songs she herself discovered while searching for the songs to be included in the blues CD. Lights are off, only her face is lightened up and her hand while she sings, mimics and moves. Close your eyes she tells us..and You ll see . Change of heart is powerful and again she runs in the crowd and shakes hands. When she smiles to me and mum during her big tune Girls just want to have fun , she really cures me, all of my troubles are cast in the deep blue sea when she smiles, Cyndi s smile really has the power to heal. She healed both of us me and mum, we were having a very hard time last year and Cyndi greatly helped us and will always do. And You HAVE TO SEE how she dances in She bop . With mum we could really approach the stage at this point, practically touching her and singing along with her as she allows the audience to, these moments we will never forget. And then some Christmas songs: feels like Christmas , it really does when she sings to us, and In the bleak midwinter a cappella. Time after Time gathers us all in singing along with her, this eternal tune. She enjoys singing Mother earth as she always does and True Colors is a magic ending for this magic night.

I felt so blessed I could attend this gig, Cyn totally ROCKS!! She then sings Romance in the dark sitting on stage and she looks at me, sings part of this beautiful song just in front of me and I m totally blown away. How blue can you get follows, she sings this with so much passion, and the pure energy song Down don t bother me . I always love another blues cover of hers, Down so low , as Cyndi really has the power to make me forget all the sad stuff when I listen to her and this blues stuff live is even more uplifting. A powerful Crossroads , with an amazing slide up mid song which always leaves me absolutely speechless follows, and Rolling and Tumblin . And she rushes in the audience and climbs on chairs several times during Don t cry no more . She sometimes gives a decided audience turn, more in the audience both sides and climbing on chairs, the energy is amazing. She then talks about her autobiography - which will probably be out late 2011- and the title of which could possibly be something like 2How to tell the right things to the wrong people . And we really could see the stars, surrounding our star. Cyndi Lauper s famous tunes Change of heart , Girls Just Want to have fun and She bop really move the crowd at this point. A few Christmas Tunes follow: Three ships is amazing and Silent night a cappella. She then goes into a bluesy version of Merry Xmas baby , then it s the turn of Time after Time , which gathers us all in singing along with her. She finally enjoys singing Mother earth from her new album Memphis Blues and True Colors is a magic ending for this magic night. An explosion of energy, Cyn runs into the audience several times and climbs on chairs, she wants to see people dancing and having fun. I strongly recommend Cyndi Lauper s gigs, f you have a chance, you should definitely go and see Cyndi live again and again, she s amazing, a great artist, a complete performer and an amazing heart. I m really enjoying this tour and I will try to follow her as much as I can in future dates. A sparkling and colorful life for Cyndi Lauper, a life that continues to expand to greater creative heights and global prestige. Among her other performances, she took part to John Lennon s Tribute which was held in NYC last November 12th 2010. She is currently capturing her journey in literary form for an autobiography that will be released via Simon & Schuster. It will, no doubt, be another bar-raising milestone in a career that continues to leave the world craving more. I still have so much to say and share, she says. I m grateful for each and every day that I get to make music. As long as there s a corner of the world where people want to hear me, I ll be there\u2026 singing my heart out.

Cyndi did a great job reviving awareness of Memphis Blues. The band were legends of blues and played great. The stories gave insight into her thoughts which are deep. She's also wicked funny when it came to dealing with a heckler and errant lighting operator. I really like Foxwoods as a venue. The sound level was just right, full servicefrom the waitresses and in the front row we saw her up close.

Cyndi Lauper knows how to put on a fantastic, high-energy show! From blues, to Christmas songs, to her classics, she belted them out with tremendous vocal range, even filling several fan requests. She worked the audience, leaving the stage a few times to interact with the crowd, walking all the way to the back of the showroom and performing atop one of the seats. She even sung a few songs acapella, further showcasing her talent.

Outdoor venues are great for a summer's evening entertainment. It was the first time for us at the Portland Zoo. Accoustics were not great. We could actually have a conversation while she was performing. The sound was far too quiet for a concert. Our ears didn't even ring after the show! But Cyndi still has it all, spunky cuteness, sassy mouth and, man, she can sing! Most of the show were songs from her latest album "Memphis Blues." Never thought of Cyndi Lauper as a blues singer, but she sure is. I was happy to hear her belt out some of my faves of hers from the 80's - Girls just want to have fun, time after time, and she bop. I will definetely go to see her again, if the opportunity arises.

Cyndi Lauper was always someone I wanted to see. I waited for her to headline her own tour. I wanted the night to be about just her as I am easily overwhelmed... I loved her in the 80's and still enjoy her current music even though it is not very mainstream. She has a voice that just pierced through me to my relevant core. Now I know that the voice and persona that inspired me are best pre-recorded. On stage she came across as an extremely bitter, angry, controlling, and unhappy soul. She was present, but when we locked eyes she appeared vacant. Her eyes were glazed over. I guess they could have been cataracts. Her voice was flat, kinda monotone actually. Can you imagine not recognizing "She Bop"? I couldn't before tonight either. She crushed my theme song. But on the flip side, maybe she was just having a bad night. It could happen I suppose.

This was a great venue to see Cyndi! The smaller the venue the better! Cyndi belted out the blues better than on her album, and in her ususal style she spend time chatting up...I'll never forget the cricket story! She made sure to keep her die hard fans happy by tying close to the audience and sing her classice, ending in a beautiful version of True Colors.

Cyndi knows how to please a crowd. She danced and sang and wowed the crowd with her energy. She also loves to come down into the crowd and dance with the audience and jump up on their chairs. She ended up going shoeless after that. She laid down on stage and sang upside also.

Charlie Musselwhite was the opening act and was great with his bluesy sound. Cyndi then came out with her band and played an incredible mix of her return to her roots solid 60s - 70s rockabilly covers from the likes of Wanda Jackson followed by her classics like She-Pop. Intertwining country, rockabilly, Americana, and pop flawlessly. She played Ray Price, Patsy Cline, and even Prince covers along the way mixed with hits like Money Changes Everything. Her two encores were wonderful with her first 4 song encore ending with Time After Time and Girls Just Want to Have Fun and the spectacular second encore with Cyndi coming out alone on the stage with an autoharp and playing 2 songs including the final song True Colors which was the show stopper. She played almost two hours and both she and the audience had a love fest. Don't miss this if it comes close to your town.

I SYMPATHIZE WITH THAT REVIEW OF THE WOMAN AT SANTA BARBARA THAT THE MEET AND GREET WAS DISAPPOINTING, CYNDI WAS 2 HOURS LATE, WHY SEND US AN EMAIL TO BE THERE AT 3.30PM, A RIDICULOUS TIME FOR A MEET AND GREET, USUALLY THEY ARE AT 5PM OR LATER, AND IF IT'S KNOWN THAT SHE IS ALWAYS LATE, WHY THEY DIDN'T SCHEDULE IT LATER, AT 5.30PM FOR EXAMPLE, THE TIME SHE ARRIVED, THE ASSISTANTS OF HER WERE KIND, APOLOGIZING FOR HER BEING LATE, WHEN SHE ARRIVED SHE SHOULD HAVE SAID AT LEAST " THANK YOU FOR THE WAITING" OR " SORRY, I AM LATE", WHEN IT WAS TIME TO TAKE US THE PHOTO, THEY ASKED US TO HURRY, THE WOMAN TAKING THE PHOTOS WAS AN AMATEUR, TAKING THE PHOTOS WITH A BAD ANGLE FROM ABOVE OF HER HEAD DOWNWARDS. 3 YEARS AGO AT HER MEET AND GREET IN LOS ANGELES, CYNDI WAS VERY KIND AND GREET EVERY PERSON SMILING WITH HAPPINESS, THIS TIME WAS AS A SISTER OF CYNDI WAS REPLACING HER, A DIFFERENT PERSON, THE TOTAL TIME WAS 5 MINUTES TO TAKE ALL THE PICTURES OF THE PEOPLE THAT WERE PRESENT AND INCLUDING THE GROUP PHOTO, WHICH EVERYBODY SEEMS TO BE HAPPY BUT BEFORE SOME PEOPLE COMPLAINED THAT SHE WASN'T SIGNING ANYTHING, WHICH IT DOESN'T MATTER TO ME, BUT FOR OTHER FANS WAS FRUSTRATING. SOME PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE SHE HAS TO TRAVEL A LOT, PERFORM SEVERAL NIGHTS A WEEK AND THIS COULD BE VERY TIRESOME, ALSO DO THE MEET AND GREET, BUT AS I ALWAYS SAY, IF IT'S TOO MUCH WEIGHT FOR THE ARTIST, SIMPLE, DON'T OFFER IT. I REGRET THAT I HAD TO DRIVE FROM LOS ANGELES TO SANTA BARBARA TO BE EARLY FOR A DELAYED "MEET AND GREET". THE SOUND WAS EXCELLENT, HER PERFORMANCE WAS IMPECCABLE, SOME PEOPLE COMPLAINED THAT SHE SANG A LOT OF HER NEW COUNTRY MATERIAL, THE COVER OF THE SONG FUNNEL OF LOVE IS VERY GOOD AND OTHERS WERE NICE, SHE ALSO SANG SOME OF HER CLASSICS, I LIKED A LOT "SHE BOP", " MONEY CHANGES EVERYTHING", " I DROVE ALL NIGHT", "WHEN YOU WERE MINE" AND "TIME AFTER TIME". OTHER COMMON COMPLAINS THAT I SAW IN THE REVIEWS WERE THAT SHE TALKED A LOT AND IT SEEMS TO BE THAT SHE DID THE SAME IN EVERY SHOW, I DIDN T CARE BECAUSE HER MESSAGES WERE POSITIVE AND SOME ANECDOTES WERE FUNNY. I LIKED WHEN SHE REPLIED TO ONE OF THE FANS " I LOVE YOU TOO, BUT NOT IN A PERSONAL WAY, YOU DON'T KNOW ME, ONE THING IS THE MUSIC AND OTHER THE PERSON", THIS HAPPENED ALSO AT THE GREEK THEATER. THE ARLINGTON THEATER IS PICTURESQUE, REALLY NICE OUTSIDE AND INSIDE THE WALLS WERE AS IF THEY WERE THE FRONTS OF OLD SPANISH BUILDINGS, THE BAD SIDE IT S THAT I DON T KNOW IF IT DOESN'T HAVE AC OR THEY FORGOT TO TURN IT ON, IT FELT LIKE BEING INSIDE A SAUNA. WHY THE 3 STARS, BECAUSE IT WAS DISAPPOINTING TO TAKE A WHOLE DAY EXCLUSIVELY TO TRAVEL TO SANTA BARBARA TO BE EARLY FOR A NOT SO GOOD MEET AND GREET EXPERIENCE. DESPITE OF WHAT HAPPENED, FOR ME CYNDI LAUPER IS THE BEST FEMALE SINGER.

I love Cyndi, she's seriously a fantastic human that does a lot of incredible things but this show was not one of them. I blame the venue mostly which had an atmosphere of a senior center banquet room or corporate gig award ceremony. The sound was so muted I could've carried on an entire conversation with a normal speaking voice and been heard. She's doing country covers now which, while I get their influence on her, are just covers and totally underwhelming. She did six songs before encodring (talked for about 45-50 minutes of the show) then did four or five of her hits in the encore which at that point was lackluster. She had lost the crowd. It was seriously one of the most boring shows I've ever been to, the momentum was lost in tangent filled stories and cover songs.

I was in the 3d row center you would think I would have been able to hear. The speakers were pointing away to the left and right sections. i couldn't hear her stories because people just couldn't shut up. Little speakers pointed out on stage would have been great. I was up against the stage in boston in 1983 there the sound was too loud. Will always love Cyndi though.

From beginning to end this show was perfect! Cyndi Lauper brought an unforgettable level of energy and excitement to the stage. Her movement into the Country Western element was enjoyable and definitely up to her normal style of expertise. What a great show, and her dedication to her fans if astounding. Cyndi's voice is still excellent, but her show at Talking Stick Resort was quite disappointing. From the DJ prior to the show to the format of Lauper's concert and the band. Mainly, Cyndi spent entirely too much time talking and not enough time singing her oldies; and she was heckled by the crowd ("Shut up and sing!"). Most touring artists who have a new album do material from the new album--some of which is fine, but Cyndi didn't really get into the old standards the way we had hoped. Instead, they were kind of thrown in as an obligation to her fans of 30 years. I will not attend another Cyndi Lauper concert.

Cyndi was awesome as always, I think the venue could have been a little more accommodating. They kept trying to make it a night at the symphony rather than the great musical concert Cyndi Lauper is. Even with this obstacle Cyndi satisfied with her classics and a great homage to country greats.

Cyndi sounded amazing and was dynamic on the stage, but bottom line, she spent wayyyyyyyyy too much time talking and too little singing. Not only did this cut down on the number of songs she could perform, she would lose the audience during these long stories, the folks around us would begin having conversations, and then when she'd begin singing again, we were distracted by all of the talkers around us!

She had a short playlist maybe 12 to 14 songs so she felt she had to talk between songs sometimes long drawn out boring topics about how the Watermain broke outside of her hotel room and then she had to make girls just want to have fun into a 10 minute song by asking for audience participation

What could have been wonderful wasn't. Venue - Seats too small and too close. Sound system either not loud enough or muddy. Fellow concert goers - So noisy that along with the poor sound, Charlie was not hearable. Cindy also suffered from interruptions. Performers - Charlie was as much as I could hear as usual; a class act. Cindy was very uneven. Her "stories" were boring and unintelligible. When she was "on", she rocked; both the Cindy standards and her country oldies.
