Killswitch Engage

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE IN CONCERT:Metalcore band Killswitch Engage have made a name for themselves with their heart-stopping combination of sophistication and brutality. At their live shows, the band lays out a riff-heavy onslaught of guitars combined with dynamic vocals that range from bloodcurdling shrieks to low-pitch death growls as they pummel through tracks like "My Curse" and "Holy Diver." In the middle of all this unrelenting intensity is band frontman Jesse Leach, oozing a degree of snarling ferocity that is sure to please metal-heads and hardcore kids alike at the band's 2014 tour dates.BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT: Westfield, MA metalcore pioneers Killswitch Engage were born in 1999 out of the figurative ashes of other hardcore bands and the literal ashes of Massachusetts' post-industrial Pioneer Valley.

Opening act Havok impressed. Anthrax delivered like they always do playing a mix of old and new. Not much of Killswitch fan; didn t quite care for them.

Going into it, I wasn't too sure how I would feel about the supporting act(s). I was going to see Killswitch Engage. I've never listened to The Devil Wears Prada and have only heard one Anthrax song. All four bands (Jasta, The Devil Wears Prada, Anthrax and Killswitch Engage) were great! They really got the crowd going (especially Killswitch with their amazing closing set!) and I am very glad I went to this concert. 20/10 would recommend every time

I am a very huge of the HOB. I am also a huge fan of Killswitch. Put the two together, and it was an amazing show. Not to mention, the opening acts of ATR, Job for a Cowboy and Whitechapel helped.

I can honestly say that I couldn't wait to get out of House of Blues last night. The bands rocked (for the most part), but the atmosphere was virtually unbarable. Out of probably 15 shows or so that I've seen at HOB, this one was BY FAR the most crowded. You couldn't bend over to tie your shoe without knocking at least two underage emo kids over. To call the show "uncomfortable" is an understatement. Kids as far as the eye could see were crammed into every nook and cranny of the venue. I say "kids", because probably 3 out of every 5 people were brought there by their parents...by the looks of it, most of the adults were probably brought by their parents too. Maybe I'm just getting older, but it looked like "Loserfest" was in town. Eye shadow, mascara, pink hair, and skinny jeans were everywhere...and I'm referring to the "males" at the show. Punks were pushing their way through the crowds with VERY FEW "excuse me's" to be heard. I lost what little faith I had for left the upcoming generation last night. If that's the "future", then we are in for a world of hurt! Aside from the quality of the average show-goer, the sheer numbers were inexcusable. Had a fire started, there would have likely been hundreds of deaths...there was NOWHERE to move or get away. I will NEVER go to another "all ages" show at the House of Blues. I can honestly say that the environment was probably the worst that I've ever encountered at a live show (having seen 50 shows or so). Also, having four bands is overkill in my opinion...the show is too long and I end up not really even caring about the final act because my feet hurt so badly. Since I've made it clear how uncomfortable things were, let me mention the reason for being there...the bands. I wasn't a big fan of White Chapel...just a bunch of noise in my opinion. Job For a Cowboy was pretty good...I may try to listen to more in the future. All That Remains was one of my main reasons for going, and they didn't disappoint. Even with a backup drummer, they still rocked the house. It was made even better when I saw Vinny Paul hanging out backstage at the show...a rock god was in the house! Finally Killswitch came on, and they didn't disappoint. All of my foot pain and annoyance towards the youth went away for about 45 minutes or so. They put on a great show and I can definitely recommend them. They had horribly annoying outfits on (all in tuxedo shirts), but when you rock that hard I guess you can wear whatever you want to. All in all, I can say "good job" to the bands...and "what were you thinking" to the House of Blues for over-selling the show so badly. And to the parents of many of these kids...I can say "great job" (sarcastically)...wow the number of douchebags in this World is going through the roof; you should be proud!

There were many problems with this event. 1. The time between groups playing was unbearable. Between the first opener, and the second opener, I had enough time to wait around, leave, go to the food court and eat, wait in line AGAIN, and still waited around unil I was bored out of my mind. When Killswitch came on, I thought they were another opening act, or sound testers, because they were so bored and unenthusiastic. Job For A Cowboy was more into it, and they were an opener. 2. OVERSOLD. Too may people! It took me 20 min to wade through the crowd to get into the floor. 3. Everything was either slippery or sticky. 4. Hotter than hell. 5. Killswitch, the headliner, was terrible. They didn't care, and the fans didn't care. Boo. 6. 80 % of the crowd looked like they were auditioning for "I can't believe shes dating him" or "tool academy".

I really didn't know what I was expecting seeing KSE live for the first time. I was very pleased with the show. The opening bands were a little over the top for KSE, but by the time KSE came on stage alot of people were already wore out. Their show was full of energy and flash and for the size of the venue they put on a full stage presence and more! I would like to see them at Mayham if I get a chance.

Havok (Modern Thrash Metal) was excellent. I have seen them before and they are tight and sound great. Anthrax was also excellent. They played mostly old school favorites with some new stuff peppered in. Very glad I was able to see them. Killswitch Engage, if you have never seen them, are quite the musicians. The songs are played expertly and with great energy. Overall 10/10 night. Don't miss the show if you are a fan of any of these bands.

Attended this concert to see Anthrax and they came through big time. Took my 14 year old son along to see the second of the big 4 (he saw Slayer at Open Air last year and will see Megadeth and Metallica this summer). As a drummer and a metal head, he enjoyed himself immensely. The only thing we would have liked more about the Anthrax set is that if it had been longer. Killswitch Engage was ok but they are not really either of our favorite bands. Mostly they were just extremely loud (one of the loudest shows I have been to in a while). The highlight of the Killswitch show as their closer, a cover of Holy Diver with Joey Belladonna from Anthrax coming out to sing the vocals (which is somewhat telling). Hopefully Anthrax comes back soon on a true headlining gig, with a much longer set, as both my son and I would definitely pay to see that.

Love Anthrax and I see them whenever I can! Killswitch Engage was secondary to my choice to see this concert. That being said, I was not aware of the age difference of the fans for these bands. Huge miss step with this pairing! I am age similar to Anthrax and I can honestly say I have reached an age where if I am not in a mosh pit I don't want to be shoved around. The fans for KSE were young and shoved there way everywhere, sometimes knocking those who were not in the fray down. Both bands rocked it though! Just be prepared to fight to stay on your feet!

First time at 20 Monroe Live. I believe it's been open for about 2 months or so. I was very impressed. It is kind of situated in a weird spot. It looks like your entering the bottom of a hotel. But once inside you begin to wonder where u are exactly. You're obviously in a place where live shows are played but it just feels odd. It is set up great though. Bars everywhere. I think they have food as well. Prices are what I expected for a downtown venue. Didn't see handi cap bathrooms but I'm sure they have one. I used the restrooms upstairs behind the mezzanine. The sound during the show was great. You could hear the music anywhere and there are TV monitors all over the place with the show on screen. No weird echos or anything from what I could tell. I already have tickets for attending Korn in May and Volbeat in June. Overall I think it's a great addition to the already existing venues Grand Rapids has to offer. Five stars.

Seen Anthrax three times in just about a year. Killswitch twice. Definitely like both as headliners better than openers. So a co-headline tour works! Jasta-best opening act I've seen in a concert like this(metal lower price) The Devil Wears Prada-Wasn't too familiar with them prior. Got to be a lot of screaking(death growl) for me. Anthrax-A singer who actually sings! Caught In A Mosh. Killswitch Engage-Puts on a great show. They love their fans and are appreciative. Overall I thought the sound was terrible. I am a vocal above music blend guy. Tone was great.

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE AND BATTLECROSS WERE AWESOME, OUR LODGE SECTION SEATS WERE AWESOME, AT THAT PRICE I WISH PARAMOUNT SEATING PEOPLE WOULD ENFORCE PEOPLE SITTING IN THEIR SEATS AND NOT UP AT THE RAILING SO EVENYONE CAN SEE. IF YOU WANT TO BE UP FRONT IN THE BANDS FACE , GO GET GA TICKITS AND GO ON THE FLOOR. ALSO WHY PARAMOUNT DOESNT USE GOOD LOCAL BANDS WITH A FOLLOWING IS BEYOND ME? THE 2 OPENERS FOR THESE BANDS WERE THE WORST BANDS I HAVE EVER SEEN THERE. ONE WAS SO HORRIBLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. THEY DIDNT EVEN BELONG PLAYING THERE THAT NIGHT, THEY HAD NO BACKDROPS OR SCRIMS , OR EVEN A NAME ON THE DRUMMERS BASS DRUM,SO ANYONE REMEMBERS WHO THEY WERE. BY 15MIN INTO THE SET THEY WERE GETTING BOOED ANYWAY...THAT WAS THE ONLY HORRIBLE PART AT 56.75 A TICKET! THE REST WAS SMOOTHE.!!

KSE absolutely ROCKED that night, & my husband especially was so excited to see Jesse Leach back with Killswitch! There was so much energy & hilarious moments. I would see KSE in concert every chance I got! However, I would hesitate to see them at The State Theater again. I didn't mind the scrunched crowd, & being pushed towards the stage, & the music sounded great. Unfortunately, there is such little ventilation in there, & everyone, including the stage itself was soaked in sweat. Way more sweat than you normally get during a concert! Even KSE said on Facebook "that was the hottest wettest show in a while you kids are crazy! We created a puddle of sweat in stage together!". I'm surprised no one passed out, to be honest. BUT, regardless of the nasty exchange of bodily fluids, the show was AMAZING!!!

I was mainly there to see Killswitch Engage, but I ended up being impressed with entire show and the venue as well. There did seem to be a delay in the opening band coming onstage, but who knows? It gave me more time to explore the venue and go to the coat check. That was one thing I thought was awesome. Usually when it's cold you have to freeze until you get in the venue so you don't have to carry or wear your coat during the concert, but they had a coat check. Also, plenty of room in the venue. I love how there were several bars so there was never much of a line to worry about. Oh yeah, and the bartenders were awesome. Now, the show. Wow. Dark Tranquility was awesome. Devil Wears Prada was pretty good. And, Killswitch Engage Melted our faces off! Great time!

All of the bands who played were very good. There's no doubt about that. The problem was the bands don't really fit together. It's fine because they're all on the Rockstar Tour but with Whitechapel and Job for a Cowboy, they should've had Cannibal Corpse, Corpsegrinder was there :-D, or The Black Dahlia Murder headline. Besides that fact, Whitechapel put on an awesome show. A lot of people said they hadn't even heard of Whitechapel but everyone still got into it. Job for a Cowboy also wasn't that well known but their set ROCKED. It was pretty short, only about 40 minutes, but everybody was moshing around when they were up. This is the band I went to mainly see, although I'd already seen them before and met 3 of the 5 members, and their presentation was awesome. They are definitely one of the best bands I have ever seen live. Killswitch also put on a very good show. Everybody in the crowd was going crazy, which you could then tell that most people were only there for Killswitch. They were interactive as usual, this is the second time I've seen them besides online, and got the crowd involved.

The venue is perfect for a metal show- I've also seen Five Finger death punch at Best Buy Theater preform there over a year ago. They had a pretty awesome line up, Missed the first band unfortunately, but the other bands The Word Alive, then Miss May I, and of course Killswitch, were amazing! ** Mosh on my lovlies ** \\m/

Killswitch was GREAT. They had an amazing setlist, taking songs from their 4 GOOD albums (none from the recent self-titled album). Vocals, guitar, bass and drums sounded perfect, CD quality. Loved it!

All the bands were great. I specifically went for The Word Alive, Miss May I, and Killswitch Engage, but Affiance and Darkest Hour caught my attention. The venue is amazing. The only cons were that beer was spilled all over the floor causing it to be sticky, and people were smoking weed inside the venue. Other than that, everything was great.

Originally it was going to be a 4 band show with As I Lay Dying before Killswitch but things happen and AILD will not be touring with them thus far. The other two bands they had in place, Darkest Hour and The Word Alive were amazing. Then when KSE came on it was mind blowing. The venue was awesome because it was small enough that you didn't lose the vibe and the experience while being large enough to support the crowd. It was also VERY clean which was a major plus. If you love metal go see KSE live, it will change your life for the better.

This was my first show at this venue. I'm from CT so I typically catch shows in New Haven or Hartford, so being able to experience a show in NYC, right in times square even, was awesome. Killswitch sounded amazing, they performed songs from their new cd, which i really liked. Darkest hour sounded great, and so did Miss May I, it was my first time ever seeing or really hearing about that band.

As a new fan of Killswitch Engage I wasn't totally up to date on all of their stuff, I am most familiar with their new album Disarm The Descent. But even without knowing all of their songs I was really feeling their show. Jesse Leach was awesome doing both his songs and the ones made in the "Howard Era." The best part of the the event was the closing which was done with End of Heartache and My Last Serenade, so emotional it was perfect!

I loved all the bands that played. Except for one. I couldn't really understand the lyrics to the darkest hours songs. Everything was muffled during their performance. This was my third time seeing killswitch engage. I always have an amazing time seeing them live. Unfortunately they went on later then expected and I was only able to hear two songs by the band it was still incredible.

Kill switch never disappoints, in fact they always surpass expectations. I've seen them numerous times and having Jesse back is a thrill. He executed Howard's parts near perfect but most importantly he sounded like he never left the band hearing him on the songs that he owned so many years ago, along with the new songs. The band played a great mix of hits from Alive or Just Breathing, The End of Heartache, As Daylight Dies and their most recent effort Disarm the descent. They played almost every song i expected them to, and threw in a couple if surprises as well. The show ended with My Last Serenade, a perfect end to a perfect show.

As a diehard fan of Howard, I was a bit skeptical of how Jesse's vocals would match up. Jesse gave it his all on stage, and in the metalcore scene, he is definitely top notch. Howard will be sorely missed but the return of hard-hitting Killswitch is also a welcome change.
