The Go-Go's

The Go-Go's

THE GO-GO'S IN CONCERT: After three decades together, iconic new wave girl group the Go-Go's still have the beat. Boasting an all-star lineup that includes the beloved voices of Belinda Carlisle and Jane Wiedlin, the Go-Go's continue to be one of the most effervescent live acts around, practically bursting with energy as they take the stage to perform upbeat classics like "Our Lips Are Sealed" and "Head Over Heels." One thing is clear: these girls just want to have fun, and that's exactly what they'll do on their upcoming tour dates. BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT: Formed amid LA's burgeoning punk and new wave scene in the late '70s, the Go-Go's got their start playing seminal venues like The Whiskey A Go Go and The Roxy.

What a wonderful secret surprise! Small and cozy. If you rent a room that faces the venue, you can watch it from your patio. Parking along the beach is free.

The Go-gos final show at the Greek Theater was superb. I thought I would probably hear the only songs I could think of - "We Got the Beat", "Our Lips Are Sealed", "Vacation", but in their set I heard several other songs that made me say, 'Oh, yeah. I remember that one, too." It's kind of sad to see them disband, but I'm glad I got to see their final show. I enjoyed their stories of how they started - about 2 miles from the Greek - and that they were originally a punk rock band. They even played a couple of never recorded punk songs from their early days. All in all it was a great show. I enjoyed it even more than I thought I would. I would say don't miss the Go-gos next time they play, but it's too late. Unless they're doing like the Who and their final shows. (I've seen two of the Who's last ever tours and they've done many more since then.) The opening acts Kaya Stewart and Best Coast featuring Bethany Cosentino were also excellent, entertaining, personable and very enjoyable.

Wow! They sound better than ever! I love them, they know how to rock! I sang to every song played. Only thing that sucked is that I had a tall guy in front of me and I'm 5'3. Anyways, the ladies were very nice during the "meet & greet". But, I'm hoping they release another album before they really call it quits.

The Go-Go's put on one hell of a show! Everything from Belinda's amazing vocals to Gina's drumming. All five ladies are the packaged deal..without one, then it's just not the Go-Go's. Their on stage antics were hilarious! Every song was sang and played with expertise and with a bit more rock than you hear on the albums. They did a great cover of Rolling Stones Mother's Little Helper.

The Go Gos themselves were great for the short performance they gave. However, the roadies for the band or maybe the people from the Minnesota Zoo, or both were not so good. There was a rain/lightening storm the night of the outdoor concert. They kept us standing outside in the rain for 1 hour and 15 minutes after the scheduled start time of the show. If this had been a sporting event, the lightening would have been enough to cancel the show. The Go Gos finally came out and played for just over 45 minutes. I can only wonder if the show would have been longer if it had started on time. The price of the ticket did not equal the length of the show.

300 hundred bucks sounds like a lot and it is, but if yer a Go-Go-s fan this is actually a pretty great deal. Front row seats, a meet and greet, and a signed (by all five original members) vinyl copy of the Beauty and the Beat reissue. (mailed to you later) You also get the cd issue of the "Beauty' remaster. In Hershey, the meet and greet was a little rushed (which is typical for meets) but the ladies were very nice and happily signed autographs and such. Since the signed record was included in the VIP package, I wasn't expecting any more autographs so this was a nice surprise. (One minor quibble is because of the rushed nature of the meet, you get some pretty undiscernable autographs but what the heck) You also get take a photo with them so how cool is that? Pretty cool if you ask me. As for the show the girls sounded fantastic, you would hardly believe 30 years have passed by if you were going on the quality of the sound. All in all a highly reccomemded experience.

The Go Go's took the stage and were greeted by a crowd that was ready to celebrate. The band opened with This Town, and the crowd was dancing. They followed that song up with Vacation and the place simply roared with energy. Their 19 song set was sprinkled with hits and some songs that, while less well known, were beautifully designed and tightly executed. Belinda Carlisle is clearly the personality of the group and she bounced around the stage with polished choreography. The band seemed to have fun playing together and the audience fed off of it. A great show.

As always, Humphreys is an intimate venue. We had fourth row seats. After all these years, the band still sounds great and looks amazing. They played a number of hits that made them famous. I'm a huge fan of Belinda's solo work, but she did not sing any non-Go-Go's songs. Can't say that I was surprised. If you love the Go-Go's you will not be disappointed. They were energetic and hit all the high points. Bravo!

The FOX theatre is absolutely gorgeous, so that helps. We were able to land a great spot on the floor since FOX separates its floor into a bunch of leveled sections allows you to get proper height depending on where you're at. Allowed us to see the Go Go's from a perfect vantage point. Wish they would've played more stuff from their second and third album (can't believe they didn't play Turn To You), but otherwise, they were terrific. It was a childhood dream come true to see them live, and it was worth every penny. Love these girls and their music.

The Go-Go's concert showed how much they care about their fans. It's got to be exhausting to do so many concerts in summer all over the country but you would never know it by their performance. The Vina Robles Amphitheater is an intimate venue. We've seen the Go-Go's rock the house at large venues like the Hollywood Bowl and they accomplished the same energy and joy for the audience at Vina Robles. This is supposedly their "Goodbye" tour but we hope they figure out a way to keep their music alive at live events. It's important to be able to hear them perform and connect with them again in the future.

The Go-Go's have done it again! I was blown away by their performance, just as I was when I saw them before. I first saw them in 1982 at Kings Island, then at the Hollywood Bowl in 2012, and now this show. I can say that they didn't just play the hits, which was refreshing. This is the smallest of the venues I've seen them in, but it worked rather well. The vast majority of us were on our feet for their entire set. Overall, seeing these ladies again was every bit well worth the trip.

WOW! Hottest outdoor concert I've ever attended but well worth it. First time at the venue but what a great historic place to see a 'farewell tour'. I was wondering how about 4 songs could get turned into an entire concert before we went. Well, It happened and it was a lot of fun. I think I am still smiling, like the Go Go's were the entire time. I dislike when I have to stand around for hours on end at a venue waiting for some unannounced random time when a band decides to come out while the HoB sells drinks. . But this band was so much fun, I will only remember the happy vibes , good tunes and standing in front of Jane Wiedlin w/ her Ace Frehley moonboots, downpicking her guitar like Johhny Ramone and smiling the whole time. Last time on tour? we'll see about that...

The Go-Go's rocked Orange County, CA once again this Summer at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa. This has become an annual event for me and I highly recommend not only this show but the OC Fair as well. The Go-Go's may be long in the tooth but they still know how to entertain a packed house (this venue holds 8,500+ spectators) and every Summer people come out of the woodwork to hear these ladies rock once more. Yes, Kathy is now absent but the new bass player fills the gap nicely and Belinda still sounds great! In many ways, the band has never been more on target and tight. They've been doing this a long time so they are seasoned professionals delivering a solid set. It's relatively short hour-fifteen but like The Ramones, these songs are tight and fast. Everything off Beauty and the Beat always kills and the audience eats it up. I go to this every year so I can attest that the quality remains consistent and these ladies seem to have a pretty loyal following here in SoCal. You definitely get a great show and The Go-Go's seem genuinely proud to play this town. Highly recommended if you're in the OC next Summer. Who knows how much longer these ladies will be touring and it'd be a shame to miss one these legendary ladies of the '80s one last time. I've included photos in daylight from my vantage point which is in section 1 at Pacific Amp. Solid venue... good services and clean seats. Recommended.

The Go Go's are my favorite band of all time. They have been a part of my life for 32 years and I don't ever miss an opportunity to see the girls. This was my 17th outing with the girls, as I have seen them in California, Minnesota, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New York. Belinda, Jane, Charlotte, and Gina are the remaining four members of the original five, but not missing a beat on bass is Abby Travis who can play her ass off. She is an asset to the original line up. Gina's new drums sounded incredible..... It would be nice for the girls to crank out some new material....but this sold old show was great regardless.

The Pacific Amp is a great place to see a band like this. And though the Gogo's look a bit older (don't we all?) they proved they still had the chops. The setlist was great and included some great covers but the energy was also high. The audience was on their feet throughout the show. The vocals were a bit low in the mix and muffled. They were often overwhelmed by the bass gtr (and sometimes the lead and Wiedlin's gtr). This is not necessarily the band's fault and in the end it didn't matter because we all know the words anyway! Overall a great quality show and lots of fun!

As the wanna be replacement drummer for the Go-Go's all through high school (who am I kidding...still today) I was very excited to see the girl band from the 80's rock the stage at the Seneca Niagara Casino. I had seen Jane during her solo career and a band that Gina and Kathy had put together at some point, but had only enjoyed the whole band in my coveted cassette collection, tuned up to 10 on my Sony Walkman. So at the wise age of 46, I made the 3 hour trip from Syracuse NY to the western side of the state to fulfill a dream. They did not dissappoint. They were fun but they were also great musicians. Anyone reading up on their solo efforts will find individual members have contributed songs to other artist, projects, shows and they have kept their hands a wash in the music industry, when not touring with the Go-Go's. Among the favs of Vacation, Cool Jerk (where I think the over exuberant fans, called to the stage by the ladies, might have gotten a lil out of hand for Jane Wiedlen) and Head over Heels, was a mash up of We got the Beat with KISS' Rock n' Roll all night screaming through the middle. The handled Painted Black like seasoned professionals, as well. And using their own term of "Go-gofying" Belinda Carlisle own Mad About You, put a fresh spin on a great tune. Jane's hit with the Sparks, Cool Places, was a fun pop surprise as well. Gina Schock took a couple walks from behind the drum set to chat up the audience. "Any of you winning on the casino floor tonight?" I expected to see her pulling the one armed bandits after the show? Charlotte Chaffey is still an obvious power house, musically, with the band. She played lead guitar and keyboards and sang. The 4 remaining Go-Go's were joined by an amazing bass player that mesmerized me (as I'm just learning bass myself), and was a great addition to the band. Over all it was a fantastic experience and well worth the trip to see one of the first all female bands that wrote and played their own music. Proof that their lips should never be sealed from sharing their music with the masses.

I have been a long time fan of the Go Go's since I first heard "Our Lips are Sealed" back in 1981. Unfortunately for me I never had the chance to see them whenever they came to Milwaukee until Oct. 4 of 2012 at the Northern Lights Theater at the Potawatomi Casino. Having seen the GOGOS for the first time in 1981 I was thrilled and excited to see them again. The girls have not changed a bit-in fact gotten better and stronger with the passing years. My only complaint was the show was extremely short-less than 90 minutes-but the choice of songs was excellent. We got one song from the awful "God Bless the GOGOS" CD and the rest being a great mix of their first 3 CDs. My favorite moment of the show was Jane's solo song-She and Belinda belted out an all-female version of Sparks' "Cool Places" and my mouth dropped open! Never in my life did I think I'd get to hear that song live. My life is complete now! The die-hard fans went wild when they sang that one. Encore song of "Head Over Heels" was obviously the best song of the set. Belinda stating the Gina had "beer breath" when she came from behind the drums was great as well!

I was excited to see them probably one last time before they retire. I have been a fan of them way before Beauty and The Beat. I have met them 4 times in person and this was about my 6th time seeing them over the years. I loved how nice the staff and security were there. Seats became available in other closer spots and we were given the opportunity to move seats, but I was content where we were. If you have never been to a Go-Go's concert I would recommend going. I purchased the VIP package and got to meet four out of the five goddesses of the ever so talented "Go-Go's" on Friday! WOW! So beautiful and personable women! Polite, kind and sincere. They also ROCKED the stage, made it entertaining and fulfilling as well as comedic and personable. You felt like you were part of their family. Great vintage tunes, mostly from the BEAUTY and the BEAT album and VACATION album, virtually all the GOD BLESS THE GOGOS and TALK SHOW were ignored, which was really my only complaint. LOVE THESE LADIES, hope they continue touring for years to come. America has truly embraced its ONE AND ONLY TRUE ALL GIRL ROCK BAND!

This concert was amazing. The opening band was Tom Tom Club, (genius of love) I got chills running down my spine, such a blast from the past but what a goodie. When the Go Go's came on: they were kickin butt, alive, vibrant and electric. They were on point with each and every song! I cried of happiness, this group brings me back so many memories. Each of the girls look great and a few days later they were in the walk of fame! HOW AMAZING! I love these girls and BELINDA will be my favorite of them all forever! THANK YOU! THE CROWD was so loving and I think everyone felt such happiness and everyone was on the same page!!!

The girls still got that beat...had the crowd dancing and singing along! Played their big hits and a Belinda song from her solo venture and Jane Weidlins hit w/the Sparks, "Cool Places"...opening act, Girl in a Coma, had that cow punk, Johnny Cash sound and was pretty good!

They brought the youth back for my friend and I. We felt like teenie boppers again. They are so cute and still have that funk! I lost a few pounds from dancing and singing that the huge bag of kettle corn that we consumed didn't make a difference.

It was the last night of the Farewell Tour of one of the most iconic girl bands of the 80's. Belinda Carlisle could not have been cuter. Jane Weidlin hasn't aged a bit and was ever-so adorable! The band sounded great. They got everyone at the Greek dancing & singing... for a short time, we were transported back to our youth and it was magical! Thank you Go-Go's for saying goodbye to us and allowing us to thank you for all the wonderful memories you gave us!

A very good "last show" for the Go-Go's, but first time for us seeing them live. A lot of fun, and the crowd was really behind the band and had a great time. They played all of the hits and even a couple of their early "punk" tunes. Sorry, but playing Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" for one of their encores? I mean really?? First time at The Greek Theatre, nice venue.

Great energy and a well balanced set with their hits and even an old punk track! These ladies could play for another 30 years as far as I'm concerned...my friend and I had a wonderful time. Great seeing Best Coast as an opener as well...check 'em out if you don't know them. Quality Cali Indie Rock...

Such fun to see them again ...35 or so years after first seeing them live. The ladies ROCKED! Especially Jane! TBH Belinda's vocals were pretty rough in a lot of place...don't know if that was emotion from the last night, wear-down from the tour, or just the state of her voice these days. But it was a blast, the end of an era, and an unforgettable evening.

The Go-Gos was the first concert I ever saw back in 1982 . The group had such a fun energy back then and I didn't know if that energy would still be there. The group did themselves proud with a quality show that carried fun from beginning to end . It was good to see the fans standing and rocking to the tunes through out . My only 2 complaints were that for a show during the week it ended very late, i didn't get home till after 12:30. The other complaint was the second opening group, Best Coast showed why they don't belong on the big stage, they pretty much beat on there instruments the whole set. When the Go-G0s did the surf punk songs, Best Coast needed to pay attention because that's how what they were trying to do should sound. Overall the Go-Gos a B+ The openers C- D

The venue was great! The GoGo's sounded great and were a lot of fun. I wouldn't say you have to see them it's a must and especially at $77. I didn't know the opening band.

The Go-Go's were great. it's just the two pre bands played longer than the gogos. They only played for an hour at most, and the other two bands took up three hours of the time. So a lot of people were a little disappointed but their performance for what little time we got to see them was excellent. 1 pre-band would have been plenty not 2.

They still sound good after all these years. It sucks we had 2 opening bands taking up valuable time. We barely got an hour show with only 1 encore since there was a midnight curfew for the outside venue :( I feel like we got robbed of a proper goodbye for this farewell tour & it's too late to catch them at another show.

Great Show, Opening Acts were amazing. The Go Go's are very special considering the amount of time they have been together. No other all female rock band has reached this amazing height. I doubt any group ever will.

We were ready for a fun evening of great 70's & 80's rock-n-roll, but the fun didn't last very long. The first two opening acts of whom I can't even remember their names, paved the way for the great all-girl band. They sounded good and played some of their hits, but after less than an hour; it was over.... It would have been a much more memorable experience had there been a little more inter-action with the fans; you would think that after over 40 years of making music, some interaction with the fans would have made a "Farewell" concert much more memorable/enjoyable. Too bad it didn't happen, too bad they didn't play long enough, and too bad they wasted so much time with two opening acts that made a lot of noise but not much more.

Had a great time at the show! The girls sounded and looked amazing! The only problem I had was , they only played for 45 minutes. Really wish they didn't have 2 warm-up bands. Knowing this was last to see them live , I was hoping to hear more. Really going to miss them!!

The whole concert was great. Typically when you see a great band like the Go-Go's the opening acts are okay or one may stand out. We really enjoyed both opening acts. They got the crowd excited and ready for the Go-Go's. So happy we came out and experienced this!

Vina Robles is a fantastic venue. Well placed food & drink locations, lots of counter space to put your food/drinks so you can visit. Discount on drinks when you bring your plastic cup back! All seats have great views. The venue emailed a 'know before you go' message so I knew exactly the times and names of warm up bands. The GO GO's concert was awesome! Started promptly on time, including two warm up bands. They played for just over one hour. Sound system was great. Exiting the venue was easy. Great transportation from Fetch! ($7pp each way) from various Paso Robles hotels. Fetch! is granted access to VIP area to unload and load passengers too. Totally recommend this venue and the GO GO's farewell tour.

This was a truly great performance! I always enjoy myself seeing the Go-Go's, and this was their greatest show yet! I loved their hits, loved their rare tracks, and even loved the cover of the Miley Cyrus "Wrecking Ball." Belinda Carlisle was in great voice, and Gina Schock, Jane Wiedlin, Charlotte Caffrey and Abby Travis rocked the joint! Go see it if you get the chance!!!
