Def Leppard

Def Leppard

British heavy metal pioneers Def Leppard have been rocking the concert stage since the late ‘70s, and they’re not even close to quitting yet. Amazingly, the lineup has remained intact since 1992, with lead singer Joe Elliot, drummer Rick Allen, bassist Rick Savage and guitarists Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell continuing to deliver flawless, high energy performances for metal heads young and old. Classics like “Rock of Ages,” “Love Bites,” “Animal,” “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” “Let’s Get Rocked,” “Foolin’,” “Don’t Shoot Shotgun,” “Rocket,” “Hysteria” and “Armageddon it” never fail to bring fans to their feet, proving year after year that these metal gods still know how to deliver the goods. With spot-on vocal harmonies, Joe’s signature sky-high wails, Phil and Vivian’s in-your-face, effects-laden guitars, Savage’s solid bass lines, and Rick Allen’s legendary single-armed drum solos, the band never fails to give longtime fans what they’ve come to expect from a Def Leppard concert—a hard rocking good time.

Journey began the show with a 16 song set. Just a bit too much Neal Schon guitar solo, but a solid show. 2 song encore. Someone cranked up the bass for Def Leppard, but a solid 16 song set as well, including a 2 song encore. Denny Sanford center was nice, but during intermission the outer rings were crowded with bathroom lines and loitering.

Both groups were outstanding as always, but taking my entire family for the first time I was disappointed very much that Joe Elliot felt compelled to use foul language, especially repeatedly using the f-word, while speaking to the crowd between songs. I do not want to listen to that, and I certainly do not want my children to listen to that. Otherwise it would have been a permanently premium memory for the entire family. As far as the venue, it is good, they do a nice job. The big thing they could ve improved on is more direction in front of and just inside the venue entrances so people know where to come in and line up and thus keep it orderly instead of cutting in line chaos.

Cheap Trick played the usuals, a good warm up. Poison was pretty rockin'. Brett Michaels and CC can still rock. Evertone is sober, and so they sound great. Def Leppard is always entertaining. He can't hit the high notes the way he used to, but he makes up for it by playing to the crowd. it's obvious that all 3 bands are greatful to their fans, and really enjoy what they do.

I have been a fan of Def Leppard since I was in Junior High. Every good memory I have of that time has "Pour Some Sugar On Me" playing in the background. My parents wouldn't let me go to concerts, especially rock concerts back then, so when I saw that Def Leppard was coming to Blossom I got tickets. I saw Cheap Trick last year with Journey and Heart, and they were just as good as they always are. Poison rocked and after watching 3 seasons of Rock of Love, I have a renewed love of Poison. But when Def Leppard took the stage it was like nothing else! I swear Phil Collen was having sex with his guitar on stage!! :-) Rick Allen has always been my fave member and hearing him play live was awesome! I told my husband I had to hear "Pour Some Sugar On Me" live at least once before I die and I'm a happy camper now!!

I have been in love with this band for close to 20 years. I have been to 4 of their concerts and have never been disappointed. Every member of this band has something special to offer. I only wish we could get them into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. They deserve an honorary spot there.

All three bands did a wonderful job. It was cool that they had the screens zooming in on different band members throughout the songs, so you could see what they were doing! And Def Leppard had little videos and slideshows playing in the main screen. Sometimes, though, I would get distracted by the slideshow and forget to watch the band! The only negative thing was that it started about 40 minutes late, which wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't raining! And the time between bands was a little lengthy. (i.e. the time between the end of Cheap Trick's set and the beginning of Poison's, end of Poison's set to beginning of Def Leppard's) But, Poison came out and did an encore of Nothin' But A Good Time after Talk Dirty To Me, and Def Leppard came back after Rock Of Ages to play Let's Get Rocked, and all the bands got the audience involved in the music. It would be awesome if I got to see these three again, it was an awesome lineup.

For fans of the 80s, this couldn't have been better musically. All three groups did all the hits and Poison was especially terrific. Blossom Music Center, however, grows increasingly bad each time I go to a concert there. On the Ticketmaster website, it said we could take in umbrellas--no size limit was listed. When we got there, it was raining sideways and I wasn't allowed to take in an umbrella, even though we had seats under the pavillion...I just wanted to stay dry until I got to my seat. Not one of the four employees we passed mentioned anything about the umbrella until we got to the gatekeeper. And then to top it off, there were lots of people with larger umbrellas when we got inside. Then it took almost two hours to get out of the parking lot since there were only two people directing traffic. I go to a lot of concerts at a lot of places, but Blossom is now off my list. I'll drive two hours to Pittsburgh before I go back to Blossom.

The concert was amazing. Blossom was a muddy mess as I remember it in the 1970's. I bought out 4 tickets presale, we were in the last row of the paviliion. What an amazing view. The sound was as great as ever- but the light show was like I remembered in 1972 at many outside concerts- the prices were ok. I have been out of work for over a year and now my husband is too.

I went to see Journey/Def Leppard with my family. It was one of the best concerts I ve ever seen. Journey played many of our favorites and sounded great! Def Leppard was really good too but their bass and drums were so loud it almost hurt one s body and at times you couldn t hear the words being sung. Journey had the better concert musically. Def Leppard had the better light show and visual effects. It was an awesome concert overall.

Journey and Def Leppard are two of my all time favorites! Journey was absolutely amazing! So much more than I expected. Def Leppard was a bit lackluster. No songs were played from their first album and only 1 from their second album. Joe can t pull off half the songs anymore. They did have a really great lazer light show during Love Bites. But, I am so grateful to have seen both bands! The sound in the Forum needs some work. I really think it was due to the aound engineer. Most of both shows were very distorted and fuzzy. I saw Foo Fighters at the Forum a few years ago and I dont remember sound issues.

Everything about this concert was amazing. Our seats, the overall venue, my T-shirt, and above all...the music. Felt good to sing along with every song like I did when I was a kid. Would love to see this same show again. Def Leppard was so humble and seemed truly grateful to their fans. I saw Journey with Steve Perry on his last tour with them in 1986. Was afraid I d be disappointed with Arnel as a showman and live. He was amazing. Much respect for keeping their unique sound alive.

Sound was spot on! Music was fantastic and the band was genuinely happy to be there! They sang their biggest hits and did individual solos which was great. I got the meet and greet with Def Leppard package which put me on the 2nd row from center stage and it was awesome baby! Memphis rocked that night and I really loved the venue right in the heart of the city just off Beale Street! Had a classic BBQ dinner and a few brews then it was on to the Fed Ex Forum where they brought the house down! Loved this combo so much I plan to attend the tour down in Tampa on Aug 18, 2018 where they will do it again. Classic Rock still number one!

If you're going to see Journey, don't waste your time. It's one endless guitar solo by Neal Schoen followed by another. There was also an eight-minute Steve Smith drum solo. These wouldn't have been so bad, but the never even played, "Who's Cryin' Now." Really, dudes! Now Def Leppard? They were much better. They did a great job, and were worth the money. They played all the hits, and even played "Two Steps Behind," which is my favorite song by them. I would gladly see them again. Oh, the Royal Farms Arena is awful. I'm a Baltimorean, and we call it "The Municipal Ruins." Washington and Philadelphia have torn down better arenas than we have. We've talked about this forever. For the love of God, can we get a new Arena!

Tesla opened the night and always seems to have a blast in stage. Seen them 7 times now and they never disappoint. Poison seemed to be revitalized and their energy level was amazing. Do they sound as good as 1988? No but still rock. Def Leppard seems to be cashing checks at this point. Seen them 3 of the last 4 years and not much has changed from a show perspective to song selection. Same video background shows and stage set. Probably my last go around with them. This show was absolutely amazing as expected. I love Def Leppard. This was my first time at this venue and it was great. Seen Def Leppard 3 yrs in a row now and 8 times total. They just get better and better. Yes, the shows are not the same as back in the 80's, but we are all older.LOL I know a lot of people complain about some of the new songs, but that is why they tour, to promote the newest album, so get over it. If you are a true fan, you will like these songs just as much. My only complaint is that I would like to hear more of the songs that they don't play often, such as Mirror, Mirror, Love & Affection, Desert Song and more acoustic stuff. However, they could sing anything and I would be happy!! Love how Joe talks to the fans. Poison and Tesla were great too! But I would be really happy with a really long DL show, just them!

This was my 5th time seeing them but the last time was around 95 and they've always put on an awesome live show but they have definitely improved with age. I have been to many concerts over the years and they have the best sound system of any concert I've ever been to. Anytime they come to town near me I will be going to see them. Phenomenal show. Worth every penny. So much fun. I hope these guys are still playing into their seventies like the Stones. Lol.

Def Leppard can still rock with the best of them. They are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year and they're professionals to say the least-spot on with their songs and the camaraderie of the band after all this time. Great, entertaining show!

Along with Poison and Redlands this was an incredible concert. Sound seemed to be off a few times but we were sitting in the front row in front of a large speaker. I only saw a few empty seats. All entertainers put on a great show. Background effects were awesome.
