I don't believe Kansas could have been any better. I have seen a bunch of older bands and singers in recent years that were battling aged vocal cords. Not these guys - They sounded fantastic!

I can only say that with their new vocalist, Ronnie Platt, a singer gifted with retention of a great range into his 50 s, Ronnie was also very animated! He nailed all the songs you remember...the most difficult Steve Walsh notes; nailed them like a carpenter! Closed my eyes, only for a moment and the legendary songs sounded as good as all past members of Kansas, including the original band, ever made them sound!! And, I love my band photo next to him! I m a drummer and had Phil sign my Zildian Splash. He was a little more business-like, but he has kept Kansas sounding incredible, for 40 years! I hope he remembers signing my little Zildian. It allowed me to tell him he influenced my life more than he could possibly know:)

You don't realize how much you retain from being younger until your tested. Kansas was so Amazing I was very quickly brought back into those wonderful teenage years of hanging out with your friends, turning up the music and singing along very loudly. Loved every minute of it.

They sounded great, very entertaining! And accompanied with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra it was so awesome. Nice to see an older band still putting out great music. Can't believe that the opening act was 4 of the Kansas players. Native Window. And they never let on.... It wasn't until I came home and pulled up the website that I saw that they were going to surprise us.

I was really looking forward to this concert. I LOVE their music. They were playing with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra... the music sounded AMAZING. The problem I had with this concert was the vocals just arent what they used to be. They are getting older and the lead singer just doesnt have it anymore. He was emphasizing the words differently (I think because he couldnt hit the notes anymore) The violinist was AMAZING and definitely made the show. I did go out and buy an old CD in hoping to hear the sound that I remember and enjoy. They didnt play very long either. The show was over around 10:15 when the city ordinance and other concerts at that venue go till at least 10:45

The band's music was spectacluar!! They aren't fantasic showmen on stage but they are all wonderful musicians. Then having the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in the background just adds more depth. I would definitely go again if they came back to town.

These guys are still as good, probably better, than the other 4 times I've seen them since 1977. The orchestra was a great touch. The songs were studio quality. Chastain was a great venue for this show. I would definitely go see them again.

I went into this show thinking there would be a sold out atmosphere for a band that once topped the charts. To my surprise the show was a half a sell out, and for that matter it was only half a show. Kansas played for a little over an hour and 20 minutes...perhaps due to age, and perhaps due to the fact that 3/4 of the band played as the opening act. Once onstage, they slowly eased you into the show and showed little energy. The only roar from the quiet crowd was for Dust in the Wind (which sounded good) and Point of View (which was also good). They played with the Atlanta Symphony Orcestra and if you didnt know they were there, you wouldnt have heard them. They could have brought them more into the show. They ended the show with "Wayward Son," and abruptly left with no encore. For the money I paid, the least they could have done was played at least one encore, and stretched the show out to an hour and 28 minutes. The acoustics were great though as always with Chastain Park. Bottom line is maybe were not in Kansas anymore.

This is a group I have followed since their beginning. Such a phenomenal mix of time signatures and syncopation. Have always been and will always be my favorite group and they have only gotten better with time. I was a little sceptical about how they would sound after losing Steve Walsh, but they have truly Carried On with their new lead singer. Truly, a night I will never forget.

The group was just great!! They are a real class act and there music was perfect. The performance was a very special and a sad night in my life. I have always liked Kansas and they play one song that had a special meaning to me. "Dust in the Wind". I lost my wife of 40+ years 2 weeks prior to the concert. The next day June 4th was to be our 41st wedding anniversary . As I spread her ashes over our other loved ones the wind came up and blew some of her ashes away. The song " Dust in the wind" starting playing in my head. So that song has a new meaning for me now. I wanted to thank Ronnie who I met by a elevator and allowed me to have my pic taken with him. Thank you Kansas for playing that song and God Bless you.

My wife and I have been fans since the first album, Kansas in '74. We've been to 18 Kansas shows over the years and there always special. We liked the City National Civic but they could use more bathrooms. It was very cool to actually meet the band this time and get autographs and photos, thanks guys! Due to the shorter sets and rising prices I'm not sure how many more shows we'll be able to attend but we will always Love Kansas!!!

The Venue was small so the view was good from most of the seats. Kansas is a mellow show. Itd a sit down and rock on your seat kind of show. Carry on my Wayward Son is the encore. The lead Vocalist sounds exactly like the album. I was entertained and wish they would have played longer.

Kansas sounded amazing. The lead singer sounds just like you hear him on a CD, and he has the energy level of a young man. The violin player was maybe my favorite part. He was awesome, and the whole band put their heart into the show. They obviously still love to perform and unlike so many of the old bands, you aren't seeing a cover band when you see Kansas. We had an amazing time and that started out with meeting the band. The band members were quite personable during the Wheat and Greet as well as during the performance. We sat in the second row of the left pit and were seated less than 10 feet from the stage so the 2 1/2-hour performance was up-front and personal. Awesome night to say the least!!!!

Kansas played the entire set from their latest live double CD which included a bunch of their meatier and more obscure tunes. This was a feast for music lovers whether you know their catalog or not. In addition to what is on the live double CD, they added about 20-30 minutes of all-acoustic versions of a bunch of tunes throughout their 40+ year history. I am so glad I got to see this show which included the mind-blowing Magnum Opus as well as Journey from Mariabron, the Wall, Paradox, Lamplight Symphony, and Voyage of 818. The band is firing on all cylinders, everyone in the current lineup is so into it. The set covered such an incredible range of emotions and moods, it was just remarkable.

Kansas has been my favorite band since I was a teenager and I always love seeing them in concert. They started out with an acoustic set that I thoroughly enjoyed. It highlighted their voices and musicianship. It was an excellent way to start the concert. They played for 2 hours 15 minutes straight which was incredible. Ronnie Platt s Vocals are perfect for Kansas! They bring back memories of Steve Walsh but have their own unique quality. This was the first time I ve seen him in concert and he delivered! The whole band displayed incredible musicianship as the set was tight, artistic and had solos that highlighted each band member s skill. This was one concert that I was grinning the whole time. The end of the concert was the Leftoverture album complete in the order it was originally released. Leftoverture is one of my favorite albums so it was a great closing to the evening. Kansas demonstrates, once again, why they are one of the best rock bands of all time. I m already planning on seeing them again next year and hope to upgrade to the meet and greet. Thanks for a great show and continued success as you demonstrate your musical talent for your fans.

Any words I would use to describe this show would be an understatement. The musicianship, enthusiasm, and chemistry these guys have is simply beyond words. The set was a great mix of old and new (yes, they have awesome new stuff, as well as their classics), hits and deep cuts, energy and serenity. Kansas continues to carry on. The band has been revamped a bit with the addition of Zak Rizvi (guitarist) David Manion ( Keyboards) and Ronnie Platt on vocals. It's not the same as the original Kansas so please don't compare. This tours set includes a set with the album Leftoverture being played in its entirety after an acoustic set which includes Reason To Be, All I Wanted, Hold On and Chasing Shadows. After acoustic set things get rolling with Icarus (Borne On Wings Of Steel) Icarus II, Journey From Mariabronn, Lamplight Symphony, Point Of Know Return, Rhythm In The Spirit, Voyage Of Eight Eighteen, Section 60 and Paradox is played after Leftoverture. They play for over 2 hours and I would say is worth every penny.

To be honest, I saw them on the first leg of the tour at Kansas City's Kauffman Center, so they had a lot to live up to. After touring for over a year, I expected a bit of a let down in energy. That is not what happened! They put on a long, energy-filled string of their greatest hits, and I never heard a missed note or fumbled lyric! For a band with so much technical music, they were as sharp as the last time I saw them play over 20 years ago! I'd pay to see them again tomorrow if they were still here!

Kansas really brought the old skool Rock and Roll to life. I have been to see a lot of concerts, but when you go to a smaller venue to see a band who didn t have the notoriety of some of the other bands of the era, you are not sure what you are going to get, but I was very pleased. I would rate them as well or better than some of the bands I have seen from their era. If you like Rock of this era, you will love this band, even the new album brings a taste of the good old Rock and Roll I remember from youth

The Cullen Performance Hall on the UH campus is a great venue to see live musical acts. The seating was plush and comfy. The sound is amazing there. I saw the 40th anniversary tour of Kansas performing their Leftoverture album in full. They played some of their new stuff then some of their other hits (there s a lot!) and then the Leftoverture album in its entirety. I can t say enough how great they sounded. It was studio quality live on stage. Although not all were original members from 40 years ago, they sounded identical. The songs were performed true to the original sound. Unbelievable musicianship!! This band can still bring the hard rock mixed with melodic symphony of the violin and organ. Their two, sometimes three lead guitars and a drummer that is unreal, they were all tightly in sync. Their style is unique and I was in awe of their performance all night. They had no opening act and played non-stop for two and a half hours straight. They re considering touring again next year with their Point of Know Return album s 40th anniversary. If so, I will be there again front and center! Don t miss this show if you have a chance to see it!

WOW! The original sound is still there--very little noticeable change. I loved when John Elefante was the lead singer, but the lead singer now, Ronnie Platt is amazing to say the least. The great originals, Rich Williams, Phil Ehart and Billy Greer are amazing. David Ragsdale on Violin is super although Robby Stienhardt is missed. Zac Rizvi playing second lead guitar to Rich is awesome. And Dave Manion on keyboards kills it. I have heard the bands that stick around lose their sound a bit, especially when there are not many originals, but Kansas has maintained a well sounding machine. I so miss Kerry Livgreen.

The band opened with an acoustic set, followed by fan favorites, deep cuts from early albums, a couple of songs from the latest album and then moved into the entire Leftoverture album. In all, they played songs from 11 out of 14 studio albums. This band is ON FIRE. They are playing songs that they haven't played in decades. There is nothing in the catalog that they cannot perform with this lineup. I've seen Kansas 6 times, and this was the best show yet. I have seen the band three times in my life, 1986, 1997, and 2017. Although there have been an occasional member change, the band has been top notch. Live performance in sound and musicianship was on spot all three times. As a musician its always a pleasure to see the level of music they play live knowing its real balls playing it and not studio tricks. There was one part of the performance that i have noticed that has improved over the times i have seen them. Sunday, April 30, 2017 Closing Circles The summer of 1976 in Tel Aviv was as hot at the preceding one, and perhaps just a tiny bit cooler than the following. But for a small group of teenage boys, it was a very special summer. All summer long we were hanging out at one of the guys' room. He was the only one whose parents agreed to not only buy him a Marantz stereo system, they also agreed that he actually use it... We were hanging out in his room, listening to music, smoking, joking, basically doing nothing. One of the group, Michael, one who came from a more affluent family, went to camp in the United States of America. It was the end of the summer before he came back. He brought a lot of experiences that made the other boys green with envy, and a few vinyl records. The type that are so old, that you can see them making some kind of a comeback already... Boston, Doobie Brothers, and Kansas were the bands he chose to share. One of the boys, who already started to develop a flavor in music, took to Boston right away. To this say, More Than A Feeling is one of his favorite songs. Leftoverture, the new Kansas album was a lot more complicated. It contained more than songs, it was more like compositions. The violin, which is rarely used by rock bands was a very dominant instrument, and certainly a distinguishing element of Kansas. "Carry On My Wayward Son", "Dust in the Wind", "The Wall", "Miracles out of Nowhere" became part of this boy's life for years to come. It's been over forty years since Leftoverture came out. Forty years in which he was listening to Kansas on turntables, tape cassettes, walkman, diskman, iPods, iPhones, at home, in the car, during hundreds of flights. Finally, forty years after listening to the magical sound of Kansas, this fifty four years old boy finally saw Kansas in concert. That fifty four year old boy is me. I find it incredible that a band who has been active for a half century can deliver a two and a half hours concert, with no break, and nailing each one of the beautiful songs they have been singing for who knows how many thousands of times. Seven people on stage. Six in their late sixties, and they rock, literally. When I was in my teenage years, molding my music preferences, I listened to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and many many other bands. My father thought that his generation's music was cool, pure, harmonic. He also thought, and said, that these kids with the long hair and the tattoos knew nothing about music, and whatever it is they do is just noise. I'm listening to the current music, and with a pain in my heart I realize that he was right. He was certainly wrong about my favorite bands, but he was right about the new music... Naturally, and unlike him, I recognize that generations develop their own flavor in music. And the fact that I don't like current music all that much, has little to do with the music, and lots to do with me. And yet, when I see my kids listening avidly to Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles and Kansas, to Queen and Genesis, I take a deep breath and I think to myself, perhaps I'm wrong after all. Perhaps the music we loved was indeed better. A circle was closed for me last night at the Moore Theater in Seattle. I saw Kansas Live. It took me back forty years, to a smoky room full of teenagers back in the summer of 1976, listening carefully to great music performed by Kansas. Who would have thought that forty years would have gone by, and I would see them in concert in Seattle. Certainly not me. I didn't even know even know the name Seattle back then...

My all-time favorite rock 'n roll song is "Carry on Wayward Son." I still have the record album from my teenage years. However, I didn't remember too many of their other songs. I was reminded at the concert. The group still has it after 40 years! They are very talented musicians, especially the violin and base/guitar players. Their rendition of "Carry on Wayward Son" was fantastic! They played for about 2 1/2 hours.

We bought front row seats with the wheat and great package. It was a fantastic value. We got the new CD, drumhead, tote bag, and VIP badges included with meeting the band. Very well organized. Intimate venu. The sound was perfect. Kansas put on an incredible show. We can't believe some of these guys are pushing 70. They were dancing on the stage, making funny jokes. The lead singer was going up to the balcony at one point. He can still sing his butt off. I don't know where the drummer gets his energy. We got our autographs and picture with the band. Everyone was very nice and made the event fun. Don't miss this concert!

Absolutely one of the best concerts I've seen. Kansas performed flawlessly. Opening with an acoustic set and transitioning to a full blown set of hits. The night culminated with Leftoverture in its entirety. Couldn't ask for a more satisfying night.

Even if you have seen Kansas many times as I have, you won't be disappointed. This is not the pseudo-Kansas that played at county fairs 20 years ago. All members now measure up, and they play plenty of the early stuff. And they did it for 2 and a half hours, not 90 minutes as in the past. Excellent all the way around.

Kansas is still a rockin good band and I would highly recommend catching one of their "40th Anniversary Leftoveture" shows. This newest lineup is the best Kansas has sounded in years. Steve Walsh has retired after finally blowing out his voice after leaving it all on-stage every night for over 40 years had his big shoes abley filled by Ronnie Platt who has made their songs his own. They also add their long time lighting director on B3, synths & keyboards and a second guitarist Zac Rizav who has worked with them as a studio engineer for a long time. They sound great live these days and are playing Kerry Livgren's songs the way they were recorded. They are playing a 2.5 hour set and are their own opening act doing some acoustic numbers.

Kansas played for 2 1/2 hours. They started with an acoustical set that highlighted their famous harmonies. Then they rocked it out for the rest of the show. They played all the old favorites that we were hoping for and new songs that became instant hits. Kansas interacted well with the audience and sounded as great as they did 40 yrs ago.

From the opening of "Point of know return" to the double encore " Fight fire with fire" & "Carry on" these guys rocked the Landis theatre like it's never been rocked!! If you are a Kansas fan & you have the chance to go see them, it's an absolute must! Thank you Kansas for the great memories and the best show we have seen in years!!! Please come back to Vineland!!

Great concert. I don't know all of Kansas' music, but even the songs I didn't know were great to hear. Sound quality in the area was not great. Hard to understand the band when they were introducing songs, or engaging the crowd.

Kansas is always all about the music and this concert proved it. Acoustics were very good considering the venue was outdoors at a County Fair. This was my 17th time seeing Kansas and the first with Ronnie Platt on lead vocals. His vocal range is very impressive & the band played songs to showcase his talent, including two that I have never heard live before - People of the South Wind and What's on My Mind. Nobody can replace Steve Walsh and his soaring vocals, but Ronnie brings a lot to the table. Do yourselves a favor and see Kansas before they call it a career - you will be forever impressed by their wall of sound and those fantastic lyrics & vocals. No other band comes close to these guys.

What a wonderful evening. Kansas gave a wonderful concert. Each band member was entertaining and the lead singer, even though he is not the original singer, he was note/pitch perfect to the original - if not better. I was particularly entranced by the violinist. He was spectacular. The whole event was well worth the money and recommend any Kansas fan, whether hot or luke warm to their music to attend a concert. It was a great night.

Only an OK show, the band sounded good and played hard, but just didn't have enough songs to keep the crowd rocking. I sort blame the casino for that since there were so many "older folks" and Free Tickets(?) (no offense) that were not part of the rocking 70's - 80's when Kansas was in their prime. So it was a stiff crowd to get going. The real bummer though was the encore with "carry on"; the song was rushed with no appreciation for the pace of the song.

My wife and I went to see Kansas at the Del Mar Fair and had a fantastic time. We were utterly astonished at the performance of each of the members of the band. If you have ever been a fan of Kansas and enjoyed their music I highly recommend seeing them. They were spot-on-outstanding.

After reading online what an acoustically perfect room this venue was my hopes were high. When the band came out the Drums (and Bass) were so loud I couldn't even recognize the song. I could see there original guitarist up onstage but couldn't make out what he was playing. This was in an 800 seat church not MSG. As the night went on it did get quite a bit better but WOW, why do sound guys think louder is better? Also the PA system looked rather small to me but who knows...

We've seen Kansas 4 times in the past 7 years and this was by far our favorite show. The band played with a lot of energy and the music was fantastic! I echo other reviewers who gave high marks to the new lead vocalist Ronnie Platt ... he brought it both with his vocals and his work on the keyboards! And what a treat to see Kerry Livgren and Robby Steinhardt join the band on stage during the show.

So much musical talent on one stage is almost unheard of these days! They sound just as good as they did when they first began! Not only are they an incredible band, they are probably the most humble group of guys you could ever meet in the music world!

Had a great seat! So I was able to enjoy up close and center many of my favorite Kansas songs! New lead did a great job on vocals. Only disappointment was the concert lasted 1 1/2 hrs, and with 40 years of music to share. There we're 3 original band members. Really good audio and lighting! Part that was strangest to me is after seeing Kansas many times and having Steve's voice go thru some changes over the years and now hearing a younger version, was different... Also missing the rest of the band

Great performance! I have seen Kansas about 10 times. The band was tight .Steve Walsh sounds great considering his age. The first time I saw them was 36 years ago at Nassau Coliseum then at Madison Square Garden- sold out shows. it's amazing how good they are. I was happy to see some young people in the audiance who appreciate their great music. Capital One theater is an amazing place for a show. We were 15th row. The sound is great. My only complaint is there wasn't a bigger audience for these amazing musicians. See Kansas! They are awesome. The warm-up band was Arc and Stones. They were excellent. Melodic hard rock.
