The Avett Brothers

The Avett Brothers

Avett Brothers Concert Schedule and TourGrowing up in Concord, North Carolina, and influenced by Bob Dylan, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Neil Young, brothers Scott Avett on banjos and Seth Avett on guitars formed The Avett Brothers with standup bassist Bob Crawford in 2001, and released their first studio album Country Was in 2002, as well as live concert album that same year. Their stripped down, folky sound has a maudlin but warm vibe, full of gorgeous melodies and bluegrass jingle jangle. 2003's A Carolina Jubilee followed on Ramseur Records, as well as 2004’s Mignonette, which further polished their sound with graceful harmonies. In between a relentless concert and touring schedule, the band managed to record 2006’s Four Thieves Gone: The Robbinsville Sessions and The Gleam EP, in addition to a second live album, between tours before releasing their 2007 album Emotionalism.

The brothers put on an amazing show, as per the usual. But the crowd in the mezzanine sat the entire time! Concerts are for dancing and singing. Not sitting!

The ryman has many spots on the first floor that are horrible. We happened to get two fo those. Luckily we walked down to the front of the stage and none of the seat nazis confronted us, most likely because of the packed house and everyone standing. If it had not been for this I would be writing a very different review. Anyways, the show was unbelievable. The energy and ability this small group of guys have to entertain and keep an audiences attention is amazing to say the least. Also, I should point out that many bands play on Halloween and hardly mention it or try to get into the spirit of the season. These guys embraced it, dressing up in full mummy costumes and staying like that the entire two hour set. Speaking of set, there stage was every bit as dressed the part as the performers. From dead trees and grim reapers hanging, to jackolanterns on amps and torn rags covering the drum mics. Greatest halloween show I have ever attended. Hands down.

Been to MANY MANY shows at the Ryman but have NEVER seen the Ryman rock like the night we saw The Avett Brothers there. They, and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, put on an unfrogettable show- the music was fantastic, the setting was incredible, and the vibe in the Ryman was that of a large group karaoke. Unbelievable, would recommend anyone see the Avett Bros. if they can and see any show at the Ryman if they can!

I am a huge fan of music in general and love to go to concerts to see and hear the music produced in person. I have been to the Ryman before and knew the sound would be perfect. I have listened to the Avett Brothers for many years now, but never had an chance to see them live due to my schedule. I have to say, of all the concerts I have ever been to in all my "seasoned" years of seeing live music, the Avett brothers surpassed them all for the energy they produce in the fans. One only assumes that they are truely enjoying their calling and making great, positive impressions on people of amazing scales. You can't help but feel happy for people that know what a hard days work is like and make it big with such good messages in their songs that so many people connect with. I will be back to see these guys again as soon as they are anywhere near Memphis or Nashville because this was the best concert I have ever seen!

After almost a full 2 hours, the band finally called it a night but I and the rest of the crowd would have happily and enthusiastically stayed for 2 more. I haven't had that much fun and pure joy at a concert in a long, long time. Their lyrics, musicianship, heart and spirit shined bright in every song. They rocked and wailed and then went soft and sweet and sometimes all in the same song. Don't know how you would categorize them...alternative country / folk / rock / bluegrass ...doesn't matter, they are a fantastic live act. The crowd response was wonderful - singing along with almost every song. The brothers, Scott and Seth and the rest of the band seemed so appreciative of the welcome they were given. They had 2 back-to-back sold out shows in Nashville, so if you see them coming to your town, grab a ticket as fast as you can.

I'm not a writer, so I will just say that the show was more than I thought it would be. Some may think that the Brothers are mostly bluegrass, but at times you were at a rock concert (complete with pounding bass and lingering ear ringing if you're too close), then a few songs later they're together at a mic and the crowd goes silent and enjoys the harmonies that they're softly singing. They say there's something about harmonies that come from family members and this couldn't be more true in this case. See a show!

The Avett Brothers and band are never a let down. Ever. The setlist was amazing, the crowd agreeable too... all made for a magical night. It seems older brother Scott is giving younger brother Seth a leg up on his musical solo stage presence, which is endearing. Seth, you did rock the stage too! We all come to see live music for the end result... the real time physicality of it, amped up with people all around... but, personally speaking, I also get into my own fish bowl, where I'm entranced in the sincerity, authenticity and love of expression each band member showed. I was comforted, lifted and inspired... and, I continue to take away with me this experience. Thank you Scott and Seth... your perseverance of your craft shows. We, your fans... I am so grateful to your talents and what your music provides for us... in a live, thrilling performance such as at The Greek Theatre, but also behind closed doors in the quiet of a room.

The Avett Brothers show in Berkley was phenomenal! They sound even better live then they do on their recorded songs. Great group! Great Acoustics! Great seats in Balcony! the only issue was rude people who didn't know how to stay seated in front of everyone. Had to attempt to look around a cowboy hat wearer in the first row of Balcony and 5 rows who stood to see around the first row. The Performance was very professional and beyond comparison to venue I found this to be better than others.

This was my sixth Avett Brothers show. My very first was at the Barkley's Center in 2014. I asked myself back then "why did I wait so long to see these guys?". They came on stage and opened with the high energy song "Talk of Indolence", off their 2006 album "Four Thieves Gone" album, which set the tone for the rest of the night. These guys mix it up & I've never seen the same show twice. They pull out songs from years ago, while adding some of their new material. They look like they are having a great time on stage. The audience is always filled with fans who sing along to every word of every song. Something magical about these guys that if you have never seen them live, you must.

The energy, the excitement, the way this band loves what they do - it's hard to describe, you have to just see it for yourself. I would recommend them to anyone that likes any genre - they are truly gifted at writing lyrics and quickly became my favorite band after one live show.

Ive been blessed to attend many concerts over the years, from the black eyed peas to garth brooks. I would have to say out of all the concerts Ive been too this was by far my favorite. Jason Isbell did an amazing job on the first act and I hop to see him in a solo show soon. The Avett Brothers came on at 9pm and played non stop till 11:30PM they are so talented and played their harts out only stopping to say thank you to the audience ever 5or so songs. The crowd was electric singing and dancing to every song I had an amazing time and hope to see them both again soon.

I was skeptical at first about the Avett Brothers' abilities as entertainers, but I must say that this was one of the best concerts I've been to in the last few years. The crowd was surprisingly calm and accommodating, which is always a pleasant surprise when it is standing room general admission. Overall a really enjoyable evening

HeyMegan
This was my first Avett Brothers concert, and I was absolutely stunned by their energy and passion. I do have to commend them because by the second song all the band members were pouring sweat thanks to the Louisiana heat and humidity, but that sure didn't stop them from putting on an amazing show. Their music can be beautiful and touching at times, and rambunctious and fun at others. One moment I was crying (listen to "Shame" and you'll understand why), and the next I was jumping up and down with my hands in the air. If you love, or even just like, the Avett Brothers make a point to see them live. It's a totally different experience and you'll love them even more, trust me. Just to demonstrate how great these guys are, during the middle of the show an audience member near me in the pit in front of the stage fainted. Before the medics could reach her, Joe Kwon (the cellist) rushed to grab some cold water bottles and a towel then tossed them to the woman's friend to help her. Now, the band didn't stop playing and Mr. Kwon started playing almost immediately after he helped the woman. It occurred to me later that unless you were standing by the front of the stage, you would have no idea this woman fainted because the band members didn't miss a beat and Mr. Kwon reacted very calmly to the situation. Their response was very professional, and I have great respect for them because of this. Overall, this was one of the best concerts I've been to. Their show wasn't overly complicated, but was still very entertaining. The venue at Champions Square in New Orleans was great, very clean, and you had a great view from any spot. I wish I could really paint an accurate picture of just how amazing the band's energy was, but you'll just have to go see them for yourself! And the woman was fine, by the way. :)

Extraordinary. Life changing. I m a 55 year old live music fanatic- I ve seen everything short of the Beatles. This was the Best show I have ever experienced and I knew nothing about the band before I went. My 2 daughters took me and I was blown away at the talent of these men and women. The sound blew my hair back, the lyrics brought me to tears. They even had their father come on stage and sing the most beautiful Christian hymn I ve ever heard. We love this venue. We live several hours away but make the trip if someone we like is at the Saenger. It is small enough that the concert feels intimate and the acoustics have been great. Good restaurants nearby and we usually stay in an AirBnB just a block and a half away from the theatre. If you haven't seen a concert there, you should try it out.

Love the Avett Brothers and am a member of the Avett Guild. However, they have lost the attention of their audience and need to get a new vibe to keep folks engaged. We were in the GA pit about 10 people back and many folks around us were carrying on conversations instead of listening to the band, especially during the slower songs. Further, the venue's sound was horrible making it difficult to hear the words over the bass.

Can someone tell me if standing through the entire show is mandatory? I get as pumped up by the music as the next person but show a little consideration. Best live band I have ever seen! This was my second show of the tour and the set list was completely different. I would see them again in a heartbeat!

This was my first time seeing The Avett Bros. Their energy was incredible as was the sound quality. Loved the song selection, good mix of new and classic. All I can say is that I am truly amazed by their lyrics and harmonies. You can tell they really love what they do, and us fans are truly appreciative. I anxiously look forward to the next time they are in the Chicago area.

This was our 5th time seeing the Avett Brothers. And when I say "our" I mean my family. My husband and 2 teenagers. Our kids even let us stand on the second row with them and dance. There is nothing better than enjoying a Band together and the Avett Brothers are the only one. We Love You

This was by far the best concert I've ever been to! The Avett brothers came out on time & played for almost 3 hours straight!!! Time flew by & the crowd just seemed to mesh together with a common love! I will never miss an Avett show that's within 4 hours of me! A must see band!

The show kicked off with base booming under the sweet sounds of a banjo, cello, bass drums and keys as they group opened with Smithsonian, a track from their newest record, True Sadness. The energy that they brought through their music was amazing! We danced our butts off the whole night. This was by far one of the BEST shows I have ever seen. My first Avett Brothers show will definitely not be my last! They are the most humble, kind and positive group with a message of love and peace that this world needs more of. Thank you guys for sharing your beautiful voices and talents with the world. We need more people like you in this life! God Bless :)

These guys always put on a great show. In their words, they have a hard time not "going into flight," which means they have trouble not playing every song as hard as they can and putting all their emotions into it. Their energy is so infectious and entertaining.

Man do those boys work hard to put on a quality performance every time. Maybe it was that they'd just come from home, maybe because they love Ohio, maybe because new album allows for more versatile set list....? They even covered some Dillon & Cash! One thing missing: Seth's outrageous screaming...poor dude played sick & sang with cough drops the whole time... wishes for speedy recovery. Thanks again guys....Hugs... We & Love & U

What an amazing show! The Avett Brothers were worth every Penney! The played a great mix of their old and new songs. And even played my favorite, Winter in my Heart, which I wasn't expecting at all! Even kids and babies enjoyed the show! I loved that it was family friendly! I'll have to bring my girls to their next show!

The concert was the best night of my life. This is my second Avett concert and definitely the best. I don't know how they keep me so enraptured for 2.5 hours but they are incredible. Definitely definitely definitely find a way to a concert if you are an Avett fan. I could have paid $200 for this concert and been completely satisfied. If you want to make someone an Avett Brothers fan take them to a concert.

I can't put into words how wonderful this concert was. The Avetts have constant energy throughout the entire show and just make beautiful music. The venue was perfect. Not too big, not too small. It was just an all around good atmosphere.

I saw these guys for the first time in Sept 2007 at one of the side stages of Bumbershoot in Seattle. At that time I had heard thier name but didn't know much about them. The performance was up close and personal & made me an instant fan; I've followed thier music ever since. This time around only strengthened my wife's and my support of these guys. Thier latest album, "Magpie And The Dandelion" is a gem and they played plentiful amounts of it with old favorites mixed in between. We went home humming melodies and laughing about lyrics.

The Avett brothers were absolutely amazing. My seat was not too bad but even if I was farther back it wouldn't have mattered. The acoustics were great and Seth and Scott work so perfectly together along with the rest of their band. The cohesiveness in the song order and display was unforgettable. This concert was truly amazing. I love the avett brothers!!!!!

I've loved the Avett brothers for years but this is the first time I've seen them live. I learned two things. First, I've been mispronouncing their name (the "A" is long) and when performing live they are even more dynamic than on their studio albums. Go prepared to stand up for the entire concert, and to not mind at all.

There was such a good energy and the amount of energy was incredible. I felt lucky to be there. The fan base is so mixed and everyone seemed to have a great time. They played for about 2 hours and were very interactive and connected with the audience.

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals were great openers! Got the crowd going and ready to see the Avett Brothers. Concert started around 7:30 and Grace played for about an hour. Fifteen minutes later the lights at CMAC turned off and the Avett Brothers went on! They were amazing! My buddies and I were dancing the whole time and it was one of the best concerts. The cellist was dancing around the stage the whole time, while Seth and Scott were keeping a happy profile throughout the concert. They seemed to love crowd as we were all singing along to their more popular songs.
