THRICE

Thrice has been a staple in the alternative/modern-rock world for over fifteen years.  A band known for effortlessly and continuously releasing groundbreaking records, their discography has sold over a million copies, and they’ve toured the world with acts like The Deftones, Coheed & Cambria, Rise Against, Circa Survive and Brand New.Thrice released their first proper full-length, Identity Crisis, in 2001 and quickly stormed to the forefront of the indie music scene as listeners rejoiced and formed what can only be described as a cult following. The band went on to release seven highly praised albums – fan favorites The Illusion Of Safety (2002), The Artist In The Ambulance (2003) and Vheissu (2005), the brilliant and eclectic four-part concept album The Alchemy Index: Fire and Water (2007) and Earth and Air (2008), the visceral and raw masterpiece, Beggars (2009), and a grunge-inspired follow-up album, Major/Minor (2011).

I can't comment on the openers, but Thrice rocked the house at the Pageant. They played primarily their harder songs and, as one would expect, many songs from their recent album TBEITBN. The songs from the new record were great live. The crowd seemed to know the new tunes well, while surprisingly being less well versed in some of the older songs. It was a magical moment when the crowd joined in singing the final bars of The Long Defeat. There was even a decent mosh pit for many tracks, which Dustin acknowledged and asked everyone to take care of one another. I was particularly impressed by Teppei's flawless guitar work. He sounded near identical to the album version of most songs. Dustin's vocals were a little better when I saw Thrice about 3 years ago in Raleigh, but you could still feel the emotion in his words, especially as he belted out songs from the new record. The band is clearly focused on playing their "harder" music, as nearly all soft, bluesy and melodic tunes in their catalogue were noticeably absent. I'm limiting it to 4 stars due to the lack of variation in the set list across the tour. From what I've seen, every set contains the same songs in the exact same order, including the 3 song encore. I have to imagine this becomes tedious for the band, as well as for the fans who look into previous set lists from the tour. Just one or two different songs rotated in would be a welcome change.

AMAZING and INCREDIBLE are understatements for this show! Not only did Thrice play a 2 hour set but it was an all across the board selection of their music! My husband and I sat in the balcony seating and it was perfect! Honestly though, there isn't a bad seat in this venue. The first two bands opened and they were great. A few people stood up here and there but as soon as Thrice came on the entire balcony stood up and it was awesome! You got to see fans everywhere and the feeling of everyone singing is unlike any other. No one cared how crazy we looked- the music was amazing! So going to miss being able to see Thrice but this show was a perfect 10 and couldn't have been a more amazing show! Thank you THRICE for your years of amazing music- your words will forever enlighten us.

Very awesome show by thrice, especially the acoustic "aftershow" outside in that small alley. Was really cool to get to talk to Dustin for a min and get a picture.

The show itself was pretty awesome. The guy at the mixing console looked about 15, but he ran the desk very well. Everything was clear and suitably loud, but not deafening. For Thrice, the only band I really knew, I actually picked up on some detail in their songs that is rather lost on the album, so hats off there. This venue is kind of annoying in that they've got these tape lines all over the floor. If you are outside of this box, you are not allowed to stand still, and they are serious about this. I'm sure this is probably some kind of city ordinance or something, but the end result feels kind of like you're visiting a prison, which is not how you want to feel at a rock show. It's less annoying for shows that aren't that packed, but I'm pretty sure Heaven was at or near capacity, so finding space to stand a comfortable and socially appropriate distance apart to have a conversation with my friends was a challenge. All the bands were pretty great though so this was only a minor issue, as we were mostly just paying attention to the stage.

This is my second time seeing Thrice live and for the second time I have not been disappointed. It's such a great feeling to see these guys live again since listening to them since their inception. The entire lineup was amazing and Thrice seems to consistently find up and coming bands that are just amazing. Each band had its own type of energy and was able to pump the crowd each and every time. My only problem was not with the music but with security scrutinizing my ID for a solid 5 minutes to make sure I am over 21. I understand that their job needs to be done, but it's not like I am trying to get into a CIA only authorized building. Let alone being analyzed by someone who I am sure is not even close to being an expert at knowing what a fake ID looks like. That was my only gripe but once I got inside, the crowd was incredibly friendly, the bar staff as well, and the music unforgettable. If you love rock and roll and high energy, definitely come see these guys. Dustin Kensrue: "I'm not good at talking. The Doors opened at 6:30pm and the first band which was o'brother were first to open they weren't bad at all their set was great, I was anticipating Moving Mountains set and they did an amazing job I felt that their set was short but overall I really enjoyed it, After them La Dispute pumped ip the crowd and they were pretty good, and Lastly Thrice had an hour and a half set I'm not complaining it was great, they played a couple of boring songs, but they played like maybe a few of my favorites which was okay by me overall I had an amazing time

I always say that a true artist should be measured by the way they perform Live. And this band does NOT disappoint. Thrice is a band that will move you not only with their amazing lyrics, but with the sheer energy of their music. You want to experience real music the way it supposed to be experienced? Go to a Thrice concert. They will rock your world. :-D

I got tickets only to see La Dispute and I was pleasantly surprised about how much I liked the other two opening bands (O'Brother and Moving Mountains) and Thrice, of course. They all put on a fantastic show, and since it was the day before Halloween (10/30/2011) they all had costumes on which I thought was coool. And I'm SO excited to see O'Brother for the 3rd time with Thrice again. :) Go see them for this tour! You won't be disappointed with Thrice, O'Brother or the other bands.

Let me tell you my boys thrice brought the A game in the first 20 minutes reppin the classics but then they toned it down to give the crowd a breather and more introspective opportunities. Last time I saw Thrice was in 2012, right before their hiatus, so good to see them releasing albums and touring again! I've seen them several times live and they are definitely a band that brings the energy and sounds great live! Even though I'm not a huge fan of their most recent release, I will say several of the songs play really good live (Like Hurricane, Long Defeat, etc.). I think Black Honey is maybe their WORST song ever, but even that one wasn't too bad live. Their live sound is much heavier than you would expect, which I love. I was a little disappointed that neither Circa or Thrice had an encore, but while I disagree with this practice, that's typical for co-headlining bands. Why the hell they can't BOTH have encores is beyond me, but I guess those are the rock rules for some reason. Speaking of Circa Survive, I'm not a huge fan but I thought they were good live. Kind of a drug influenced alt metal sound, reminded me a little bit of Jane's Addiction at times. Chon was also impressive, really cool guitar instrumental stuff. I was a little bummed that Thrice only played a couple songs off my fav albums (The Artist & Vheissu), but they played tribute to The Alchemey Index, so only so much time. BTW the SJ City National Civic is a great venue for concerts and sounded awesome! By far one of the best sounding venues I've been to in the Bay Area

As a huge Thrice fan, I was nothing short of elated, nay, ecstatic when I heard they were touring and a new album was to be released. Lo' and behold, the album is pretty damn good, and the band, returning from a five-year hiatus, is still getting better and better. I snatched up tickets as soon as I could. The show, overall, was amazing. They played 20 songs in total, and sure, there were some I would've loved to have heard, but I have no complaints: they put together a set list that catered well to their multi-faceted discography. Though the opening acts left some to be desired (Nothing, Nowhere was alright; not a fan of La Dispute's sound though), Thrice made the show worth attending, as they always do, and the ticket price was insanely cheap for the caliber of show that was put on. All in all, the show was fantastic and I look forward to the next time Thrice is in town.

First of all, Stage AE may be the nicest venue I've ever been to. Nice big open floor, high stage, looks nice and new and clean. Didn't check the bathrooms, so can't speak to that, but everything else was big, open, accessible. Don't know about the upstairs either, but the main floor was great. Sound was okay. I think it relied too heavily on the drums, which drowned out some of the other instruments at times. But the speakers were plenty powerful, and I wouldn't even say too loud. Okay, this was my second time seeing Thrice. They are incredible. There's not really more to say. Dustin is the epitome of a rock star on stage. All three of the mobile members have such terrific, engaging stage presence. Their musicianship is top-notch, presenting everything live with four musicians. Their set was a great combination of older classics and new stuff. The crowd was great. Everyone was excited and enthusiastic. People were considerate in the pit- tearing it up, but the second someone fell, half a dozen people were there clearing it out and helping the person up. It wasn't packed in the house, which is a bummer cuz I think Thrice deserves better, but was kinda nice because it wasn't crazy packed. Thrice played for a solid hour and half or so, which was great. La Dis was fantastic, didn't care much for the first band. Thrice: please, please, please come back! It was loads of fun.

Basically just look at the setlist and that should say it all about how awesome this show was. I have seen Thrice 5 times previous to this show and hands down this was the best I have ever seen them. Eddie is an awesome drummer, Riley is always great on base, Dustin's voice is amazing (I don't know how he does it night in night out...I thought his voice was going to give out during "The Messanger" but it didn't), and Teppei shreds the guitar. And lets not forget the crowd! There were times the crowd was so loud that you could barely hear the band...go Philly!

Thrice was, for my 6th and final time, amazing. No band does a better job of being diverse and impressive. Farewell, guys. Also, the Howard Theatre venue is badass. I'd recommend it for anything; if they keep it open to metal bands they're going to need repairs... O'Brother isn't bad. I'm pretty sure they'll always be openers, and they're definitely different, but pretty enjoyable. Animals as Leaders are the worst thing I've ever heard. The only genre they're capable of being called is "suck" and they're pretty square in the middle of it. You guys should stay in your parents' garages.

I have been a Thrice fan since their very first album and although I wasn't thrilled at first with their change -- let me say that again, their MATURITY -- in musical direction after The Artist in the Ambulance, I have grown to love every single one of their albums, including the Alchemy Index EPs. That being said, I have seen them a few times in the last few years and I wish that they would play more stuff from their first few albums in their live shows, but I guess I just missed out on shows dedicated to Identity Crisis, The Illusion of Safety and Artist. This show was no different, with them playing a bunch of songs of of their newer albums and even their older songs were played in a much more "tame" tempo. I would have loved to mix it up in the pit to the older stuff (hence docking them one star), but they sounded impeccable and it was a great show overall.

I have not been to HOB Orlando since around 2008 when mewithoutYou played there. I was much into the post-hardcore scene (The Chariot, Norma Jean, As Cities Burn) but also enjoyed a variety concert in the last six years. This Thrice show was very close to being the best show I've been to. Easily the most solid Rock show I've ever seen. In terms of musical performance, message, atmosphere, and connection between artist and audience, it was the most consistent show. I loved it. Amazing band that should keep on playing. Played a great mix of the old and the new and everything between.

This show could not have been better. It was bittersweet with this being thrice's farewell tour, but their performance was outstanding. I will never forget it.

This was my second and unfortunately last time seeing Thrice, they were great the first time but they were incredible the 2nd time, everything about this show was perfect, O'Brother impressed, Animals As Leaders were mind blowing as usual, and Thrice were just something special, maybe it was because it was their farewell tour, i don't know for sure, but there was just this heavy, very unique connection between the band and crowd, the setlist was near perfect. And as usual the House Of Blues were great, i always enjoy going to shows at this venue.

I've been going to Thrice shows throughout California for many years now, but this show was by far my favorite! They played songs from every album, were in perfect tuning, and sounded amazing. It was truly a Thrice fan's dream come true!

The show was amazing.... as expected!! We managed to score some seats up top after the first couple of bands played... Even with a hoarse throat, Dustin was beyond amazing! The new songs were intimate and heartfelt... the old stuff rocked like it always does!!! Best show I've seen in a while, not to mention HOB Anaheim is always a great venue. Thoroughly impressed & pleased!

The concert was awesome! There were other bands opening, and it's nice to get a variety. The acoustic session at the end made the whole deal worth it.

This was an awesome show. O'Brother opened the show and they were really good. Moving Mountains was next and they did a great set. La Dispute had the whole crowd making mosh pits and singing along. It was cool to see how each band kept mentioning each other and praising one another. Thrice did really great; it was my first time seeing them live and their energy was awesome. Their encore performance also served for one last huge mosh pit and Dustin getting really close to the people in the front and singing. Overall, it was a very cool experience :)

This was one of the best concerts I have attended this year. Their energy level was insane and the crowd was really engaged. Thrice never fails to put on a good show. I was especially happy when they played some of their older songs and not just from their new album Major/Minor. AND Dustin played an acoustic set after...amazing!

The show was sick! Good atmosphere, people, music, moshing without worrying about some punk stomper to hit my face. And every opening band was sick. Never been to a show where I liked every band. Good job guys!

I was late so I only saw La Dispute and Thrice, however, it was no disappointment! La Dispute have such stage presence and really command the crowd. Thrice was incredible as well. The start of every song brought cheers from the crowd.

This was my 5th Thrice show, and it was by far the best one i've been to. The Regency is a great venue, the chandeliers and old-school theatre vibe make it a cool place to catch a show. The sound was great too, as the video I took was the best sounding love video I've ever recorded. Thrice, as usual, played with such accuracy and feeling that I feel like I'm being cheated when I see any other band. Dustin Kensrue's voice was spot on, Teppei's guitar/keyboard work was phenomenal, and the Breckenridge brothers were rock solid in the rhythm section. If you ever get a chance to watch these guys, please do, they are some of the last true great performers.

Thrice puts on a stellar live show! They had a great set list, the venue (Showbox Market) was intimate, and the crowd was just the right amount of crazy. If Thrice comes around to your city, GO. Moving Mountains has a similar sound and they were also great live.

Though Moving Mountains was too generic for me, La Dispute, O Brother, and Thrice put on an amazing show! The Showbox was a great venue for these bands, because they were able to get the crowd moving and be really close to their fans while still putting on a professional, high quality performance on the big stage. I would come see these bands at The Showbox again for sure!

Thrice put on an amazing set. They sound more mature and well refined. Hardest record to date? Definitely not, but not a disappointment either.

Thrice was amazing, while they mostly played songs from after Artist and the Ambulance. They played a number of their most catchy and engaging songs while still honoring their hardcore roots. I would see Thrice again and look forward to a tour where they can spend more time on stage with a wider set-list.

Thrice is my favorite band, so honestly I was just going to see them, but the other bands were really good and enjoyable as well. It was the funnest show I've ever been too. The fact that there were open bars didn't really take away from the mood of the concert; there were very few "rowdy"/drunk people that I noticed. Overall it was an amazing concert and I'd go to the same show a thousand times over. I think the Granada is a great venue.

This show was great. I thought the lineup was a little bit strange going into it, I love both Thrice and La Dispute, but their musical styles do not line up on album. In reality though, their two musical styles went really well together, and made for a very interesting and engaging show. O'Brother opened up with about a half hour set. I saw them a year ago with Manchester Orchestra, and I was not left with a lasting impression. Now, however, they have made huge improvements to their live show, and I was extremely impressed. I love seeing a band that obviously loves their music, you could tell they were into it, but no matter how much they jumped and head banged, their was no sacrifice to musical quality. I will definitely be buying their albums, and am very excited for the new one coming out soon. Moving Mountains followed with another half hour or so set. After O'Brother, Moving Mountains was a lot less high energy. I am reluctant to say "boring" but, they were definitely not as high energy. They put on a solid show, although I have never listened to them. Although they seemed to play well, I will not be going out and buying any of their albums. La Dispute followed with a set of about a half hour to an hour (I was caught up in seeing them and did not look at times). La Disput played extremely well, having listened to every album they have every released, I was extremely impressed with how accurate to the album their live sound was. Again, it was obvious they were "in to" their music. If they had moved around any more I think it could have been called working out. I was however a little bit disappointed with their sog selection, they only played three songs off their old albums. Still the show was awesome. Thrice followed la dispute and played a set of about an hour or a little bit more. Although I do love Thrice I had not listened to their latest album very much (Major/ Minor), but even though, I loved the new stuff. Their song selection was awesome, spanning almost all of their albums. On top of that they sounded fantastic, even when idiot "crowd surfers" ran into them and their microphones they did not sacrifice anything. I was extremely impressed with the hard hitting and consistent show they put on. Overall, the show was awesome, and for the price I highly recommend it to anyone.

Thrice played old songs and many from their newest album. I would've liked to hear more from Vheissu but they do have many good songs and not enough time to play them all.
