Loved the production -- scenery, lighting, actors. I did not see the original production 20 years ago. I understand Glen Close was amazing then, but she has really owns the part now. Since 69 is the new 49, her Norma Desmond is even more desperate for attention and fitting for this time. The London cast is wonderful and they compliment each other very well. The large orchestra on stage made it feel very "old Hollywood" and was genius. The only thing that bothered me is the body - it was suspended throughout the show and then was lowered into the "pool." Since I was sitting in the Mezzanine, it was distracting.

Seeing Glenn Close and the amazing cast of Sunset Boulevard's performance was nothing short of exhilirating! These were performances of a lifetime, a show not to be missed. It's not surprising that we (the audience) stopped the show to give Ms. Close a standing ovation after one song and then applauded her at the end for FOUR returns. I hope you have the privilege of seeing such an amazing performance.

Fortunate to see the production 22 years ago and Ms Close performance was unforgettable. Didn't think it was possible but she far exceeds her last performance as Ms. Desmond. Even though very familiar with story I found myself at the edge of my seat waiting to see what Ms. Close Norma would do next. I was transfixed on the character and found the rest of the cast to be simply supportive of the masterful Ms. Close.

I was fortunate to get tickets for opening night. What an experience -- one i know I, and I m sure my friends, will never forget. Adjectives I would use: unforgettable, phenomenal, amazing. The energy in the theater was so high. You could just feel the excitement. And when Glenn Close started down the stairs in her first scene, the audience erupted in applause and the show kicked into high gear. She is simply amazing in this role -- it s like it was created just for her. Of course the rest of the cast was great but to see Ms. Close as Norma Desmond -- it s one of those things that shouldn t be passed up. The orchestra sounded great and I loved how it was on stage and the set worked around it. This was the first time I had seen the play. My litmus test for a good musical is if I can walk out humming at least one song. This more than passed. I still can t get With One Look out of my head. The music is beautiful and the lyrics are so poignant and clever. And then of course there was As If We Never Said Goodbye . That was a showstopper. The curtain call was wonderful, with all of the key players involved (including Andrew Lloyd Webber) joining the cast on stage. It was so moving. I m actually contemplating going again before the run ends. It was THAT good! I hope they remake the movie (with Glenn Close in it of course) -- that would be wonderful and I ll be among the first to see it....however nothing will compare to seeing the performance live.

Noone from today's palette of talented actors can portray Norma Desmond as Glenn Close can. She transformed the stage and took us back, scene by scene, into the Era of the silent movies, glamorous Hollywood and the mental breakdown of a lonely heart wanting to come back to her glorious days, begging to be loved. Combined with the music of Andew Lloyd Webber, I was weeping for her. God Bless Broadway

Saw the original production of Sunset Blvd over 22 years ago on Broadway with Glenn Close and didn't imagine it was possible all these years later (and without that spectacular set) to create something that could match that theatrical experience. This production doesn't. It surpasses it. Glenn Close along with the rest of this stellar cast plays their roles in a much more human, vulnerable manner which makes the entire story much more relate able and relevant . This massive 40 piece orchestra (the largest on Broadway in over 50 years) brings to life one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's greatest scores that is worth the price of admission alone. Director Lonny Price has taken what was called a Masterpiece in 1994 and made it even better. Saw this production in its third preview and will certainly be seeing it again

I took my girlfriend into the city for Valentine's Day to watch Sunset Boulevard. The show was amazing. I am relatively new to this show and this was my first time seeing it. Glenn Close owns this role. She has the ability to bring out all of your emotions. I wasn't aware that she could sing, and that certainly isn't her strongest point, but it didn't matter because her acting even came through her singing. A powerful play! I have seen Sunset Blvd before many years ago and loved it that was the reason to treat my daughter to see the play. My main objection is having the orchestra on stage, I felt it was a distraction. Don't know in 1995 they were on stage. The sets were minimal, I thought in 1995 they were better. Giving you a sense of being in her home. Glenn was amazing and also Michael Xavier, Fred Johanson . Don't remember ever seeing a standing ovation in the middle of a play, in which Ms Close was very happy to see as she stood there for a minute or two. All in all another wonderful afternoon at the theatre

This had to be one of the greatest experiences in the theatre. For more than 30 years, I only have heard tales of standing ovations in the middle of the show. I experienced it first hand with this production of Sunset Boulevard. I had seen the show several times in its first incarnation on Broadway and almost decided to pass this time around. What a fool I was. This was superior in every way. The staging was ingenious, appealed to your imagination, transported you back to a time that most of us could only read about. And to cap it off, a glorious, stellar, incredible performance from Glenn Close. This is a show superior to the reviews it has gotten and one I am unlikely to experience ever again. thank you.

This is a great production with a perfect cast. Glenn Close is awesome back in this role and is surrounded by really talented actors. My husband, 12-year old and I all truly enjoyed this spectacular show. That tells you it's good, if it can speak to multiple generations. This show makes me want to watch the two films, and we plan to. Glenn Close was amazing, with her range, and her incredible singing voice. She looked spectacular for a 70 year old, playing a 50 year old Norma Desmond. This was such a great plot, and again, even my 12-year old could comprehend it, and the manipulation seen by the major character. The supporting actors were on point with their singing, choreography, and with the costuming they displayed. I'd highly recommend this show.

Sunset Boulevard is an exceptional Broadway event, and should not be missed. The Andrew Lloyd Webber score is lush and melodic, the costuming and set decor completely set the mood for the show. I make it a point to travel to NYC each year and always attend as many plays as possible. But I have to say I have never experienced the same thrill as I had seeing Sunset Boulevard. I cannot find one bad thing to say about it. It was amazing to see Glenn Close reprise the role she was made for. I particularly loved the glittery gowns she wore. The audience response after her songs "With One Look" and As If We Never Said Goodbye" just rocked the theater! The roles of Max, Joe and Betty were all played perfectly as well. I was very surprised to see the orchestra on stage and was curious to see how that was going to work out but it was perfectly incorporated into the show. I was also happy to see the orchestra conducted by a woman - Kristen Blodgette. I can't think of one bad thing to say about this show. So, if you get the opportunity to see a Broadway show, put this one on the top of your list.

I saw this show with Ms Close when it opened back in the 90's and 20+ years later her voice was just as amazing as it was the first time! However, what really gets to me is that all the 'artist's' in NYC talk about how they want more & more people to see the 'arts' but the tickets have gotten so high that it is freezing out the 'normal' people. To not have to pay an arm & leg, I had to get nosebleed seats. If Broadway REALLY wanted more people to see the arts, they wouldn't keep raising the prices to outrageous amounts and causing many people to not be able to go..... I've seen around 200 Broadway/off Broadway shows but I'm about to stop going also because of the high prices...

By any account, "Sunset Boulevard" is a dark story, with great intensity and pathos. Glenn Close was amazing as "Norma Desmond," and I believed her every step of the way. The passion she imparted as an aging star who was desperate to regain the adulation she received as a young starlet was so very sad, and one could feel her frustration and pain. Her co-star, Michael Xavier as Joe Gillis was very good, although I am still enamored of Alan Campbell from 1996. Betty Shafer, portrayed by Siobhan Dillon, was excellent, and Fred Johanson as Max Von Mayerling, was astonishing. I would give anything to see it again!

The acting was excellent and the music was good. The 40 piece Orchestra and the conductor added to the show. Glenn Close should win for best Actress.

I saw this show in Los Angeles with Glenn Close over 20 years ago. I thought it was fantastic then, and I continue to think the same. Ms. Close is just fantastic in the role of Norma Desmond and sings beautifully. I brought my son hoping he'd enjoy the show. He has loved all the other ALW shows he'd seen in the past. And he thought this show was as good as any he'd ever seen. It really is a great score, and the story is an old one that seems never to get stale. The cast headlined by Ms. Close are all terrific. But you can't take your eyes off Ms. Close when she's on the stage. I saw this show 20 years ago, and I could not be happier that I came back to see it again.

Sunset Boulevard is not a perfect musical. There are forgettable numbers, and the chorus is not in sync on several occasions. But it is thrilling to experience Glenn Close as Norma Desmond. We've been going to Broadway and off Broadway shows for decades, but we've never seen an actor and role so perfect and exciting. Ms. Close is only there through June 25th. If you haven't already seen it, don't deny yourself the thrill. We may never see this perfection again.

I happened to see this twice in one week due to friends coming to town. Last Sunday's performance was all sparkle and shine. The audience was in from the get-go. Thursday, it seemed a bit limp from minute one. This is the nature of audiences and, thus, casts. Also, keep in mind that Weber is all romance and sentimentality. He is forever showing off the (great) talent of his performers. On Thursday, no surprise, the audience did arrive for the second act and was thrilled with its close up of Ms. Close. While the iconic nature of this great American story holds up in the musical, the rest of the piece is unremarkable for its production numbers.

Glen Close in Sunset Blvd is a legend. Though to me the show is a bit slow and the theatre seats here on the uncomfortable side, i would not missed this show. If you can make it, go!

Glenn Close commands the stage and it was an unforgettable performance and great play The music is fabulous and rush to see it before it closes Very rarely do you see a standing ovation in the middle of a show but that's what Ms. Close received You'll be sorry if you miss out

I had never seen the movie but had heard how good this production could be. I thought it was fun. Glenn Close was fabulous and Michael Xavier, Siobhan Dillon and Fred Johnson were terrific in their roles. And the 40-piece orchestra right on the stage- what an experience! Sorry to see this play close. I often have trouble hearing at a play, especially dialogue, and did not have one bit of trouble hearing anything. Great sound!

The last played that I saw that had the emotional impact of Sunset Boulevard was Phantom of the Opera. I could see Sunset Boulevard again and again ! Phantom was the only other play that I saw more than once.
