Rod Stewart

With his 1978 No. 1 single, Rod Stewart famously asked the world “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” 100 million record sales later, it’s safe to say the world answered “Yes.” As one of the top-selling artists of all time, with a career spanning four decades, the British singer-songwriter is one of the most celebrated figures in rock and roll history. The times may have changed, but Stewart’s appeal hasn’t – with his 28th studio album, 2013’s Time, the raspy crooner once again topped the UK Albums Chart – the first time he’d done so since the release of his Greatest Hits Volume 1 in 1979.

Cindy Lauper brought her rock and roll game to the Hollywood Bowl. Her voice is still full and resonates with emotion. She is very personable, and told great stories between songs. She played guitar, flute, and I'm not sure what instrument she played while singing "All Through the Night." (Maybe a slide guitar)? This was an all around enjoyable performance, and I wish she'd tour on her own. Rod Stewart \u2026 what can I say. This was something from another era, or a Vegas lounge act. His backing band and backup singers were all fabulous, and they carried this performance. He left the stage at least three times while his band played solos or rocked out when he was gone. One of the best moments of his set was when his backup singers did Tina Turners "Proud Mary." His vocals couldn't be heard over the band unless he was really projecting, and even then his phrasing and tone were just not there. His best song was an old Etta James song called "I'd Rather be Blind." He really brought the emotion and belted it out on that one. His famous "Do You Think I'm Sexy" was fun, but we really don't need or want him shaking his derrière anymore. It was a very campy show, and a bit boring. But, on the positive side, it's always fun to have a night out under the stars.

Great show. High energy and song list. This long time superstar has so many hits that he would have to play by himself to cover it all. Happy to see that he is even better than the time I saw him in the mid 1970 s.

The old Rockers still got it. Every song greeted by cheers. Lots of senior citizen 40+ acting like teenagers. Rod still can hold an audience......lots and lots of energy from him, his band and then crowd. Maggie was the finale as it should be with the crowd singing along.

Rod Stewart still performs with energy, fun and enthusiasm. He presented the majority of his greatest hits for an audience which remained on its feet for most of the performance and sang along with gusto. Rod added updates and twists to several of the favorites without loosing the feeling his fans associate with those tunes. His musicians, especially drummers, guitarists, and the "Light Bulbs" were skilled and talented making their solo performances enjoyable and more than just time fillers for Rod's off-stage moments. The evening moved along smoothly with the crowd remaining engaged throughout. As always, Rod's, dare I call it this, dancing adds to the mood of fun and spontanaity I associate with his concerts. Would I have liked one more set? Absolutely! As we left the Pavillion three or four songs came to mind which my companions and I would have liked to hear. If I had any issues it was with the sound system which, at times, allowed the musicians to overwhelm Rod's voice and even made it difficult to hear him clearly when he was talking with the audience. Bottome line: Sitting on the hill, on what turned out to be a very pleasant evening for late July in Houston, and listening to a great performer live, is a bargin for the price we paid. I wouldn't have missed it and am delighted that I didn't!

Rod Stewart performed many of his biggest hits and I was sure he would include "Do You Think I'm Sexy?" as his final encore, but he did not. The stage looked great, all white, and the costumes had a fifties look--skinny pants, lapels and ties. Maybe it was just too hot but he seemed subdued or tired. His saxophone player looked like she could have been one of his daughters; tall, blond, slender and beautiful. And she could really play the sax!

Good show - perfect stage - his girls (musicians are good-looking and perfect in playing their instruments, Rod has always a very sympathetic appearance, he should have given at least further 2 add-ons, including sailing. The show was great! I can't believe he can still move like that at his age. The band and back up singers were also really good. The show moved right along even when Rod Stewart had to exit the stage. Even the opening group ( The KIM) was really good. It was really hot weather wise but hey it is July and this is Texas. Getting in and out of the Pavillian was also quite easy. Once again the whole night was pretty amazing!!!!!!

I did enjoy the show. So did my kids. We have seen him four times over the past 10 years. Rod started at 8:45 and ended at 10:30. There was no opportunity for an encore. I think we were spolied when Billy Joel and Elton John played put on a four hour show that was unforgettable.

Rod's music is still classic and wonderful but his performance was tired. He hopped around on stage acting like an old man trying to be young and worst of all, his mike wasn't working properly. The band was too loud for him to sing over. You'd think for that amount of money he could have a good sound system! Just buy his new CD if you are a fan.

Wonderful show, lot's of energy by Rod Stewart, great voice, an excellent entertainer, very classy show. Also loved the beautiful blonde lady on the saxaphone, the brunette lady on mandolin, violin and cymbols and the three beautiful black lady vocalists! The duel drummers drum solo is incredible. He also threw out and or kicked out autographed soccer balls. This concert was at the outdoor Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavillion, north of Houston in The Woodlands, TX. I was on row T, aisle seat, under the open air pavillion. The first one he kicked out into the audience, was coming right to me, but on its descent the slow moving fanblades of one the giant suspened ceiling fans, hit the ball and deflected it over into the section to my left. My loss! LOL Worst part, my camera died after taking my first photo when he came on stage, not the batteries, the camera, it locked up and would not respond, even with removing and batteries and putting them back in. Bummer.

this would have been an AWESOME night if i could have only been able to HEAR AND UNDERSTAND THE STAR OF THE SHOW! obviously, his mike was having a problem....when the back up singers sang, i could understand every word. when rod stewart sang, I COULD HARDLY HEAR HIM!!!!!!!!! great crowd participation, great stage decor, $100 tickets up close on the far right.....i think rod would feel bad for my hubby and me. :( wondering if others had this thought.

I have always liked and appreciated Rod Stewart's music and style. Since The Faces. I hadn'e seen him live since 1975. This was such an amazing show and his musicians were all highlighted and shown to be excellent in their craft. Rod has not missed a beat. In fact we loved the show so much, we are going to see him again this year in December in Vegas. Cyndi Lauper was a great compliment and full of personality!

Cyndi Lauper is not only super talented but she's cute as a button! Rod Stewart was terrific and he sang just about every song that I wanted to hear. He also looked terrific. Yes, Rod, I do think you're sexy! Still! The Hollywood Bowl is my favorite place in LA (my happy place) and my favorite venue anywhere in the world. I just wish Ticketmaster fees weren't so high. It prevents me from going to more shows /events (& getting better seats when I do); ticket prices are high enough.

I go to a lot of concerts and this definitely ranks as one of the best! I have always wanted to see him and he definitely exceeded my expectations - he was adorable, energetic, and very interactive! He sang all his amazing songs the way they were recorded which is a huge deal to me! I recently saw Hall & Oates in concert and I was really disappointed because Daryl Hall sang them all jazzy, which was just weird and did not sound good. Definitely go and see him, you will not be disappointed! I really hope that I am able to see him again in the future :)

This was my 4th time seeing Sir Rod Stewart, dating back to the "Do you think I'm sexy?" tour in the late 70's. It's safe to say I'm a fan. His voice is still strong and he's still got the moves. We were disappointed he didn't perform "Hot Legs" especially since his background singers were in short, fringy dresses for part of the show, so that would have been appropriate. But he took us back in time to 1972 and progressed from there. Cyndi Lauper also sounded terrific; not losing a beat after all these years belting out tunes. Overall, fantastic show, time traveling down memory lane to, what seemed, simpler days.

Rod Stewart is so comfortable with his audience. The concert was outside in Tuscaloosa in July. He was having a bad hair day and was so funny when he looked at himself in the monitor and saw it. Of course a critique of his singing is a 10. It's impossible to pick a favorite from concert. He did a great job with every song. I love the way he incorporates the band and backup singers. They all have their own moments in the spotlight and each one could be a solo artist.

High temperatures, humidity, and thunderstorms took a break on July 25 at the PNC Bank Center in Holmdel, NJ. However Rod was our lightning and the crowd was his thunder! He sent the temperature soaring with a hot setlist!!! He switched the order of some songs and deleted Rollin' and Tumblin'. Much to my delight he added It's A Heartache. The black and white soccer ball pattern turned to red and black.....Anticipation!!! The band opened with Soul Finger, and then Sir Rid walked onto the stage! 1. Infatuation. In fine voice he captivated the audience. He had us at the first note! 2. Some Guys Have All The Luck. Rod has all the talent! My heart melts when he sings "All my friends have a ring on their finger, they have someone". He can call me collect anytime! 3. This Old Heart of Mine. He certainly has mine. Brought Cindy Lauper out to do this with him. Great choice. They rocked it! Cindy's opening set was good, but most of us were there to see our man! I'm not used to Rod having an opening act. Cindy was a great choice, but I believe I prefer All Rod, All Night to borrow the name of his 1999 tour. 4. Tonight's The Night. "The secret is about to unfold, upstairs before the nights too old!! No secret, great audience participation! 5. You Wear It Well. He wears everything well, from the tip of his hat down to his colorful sneakers! 6. Forever Young. One of my personal favorites. It speaks to me. Beautiful lyrics and only his voice does it true justice. 7. Rhythm Of My Heart. This has turned into a patriotic anthem. "Running down the alley I've got my eyes all over you, baby" is another one of those line that grabs me deep in my gut! 8. Young Turks. Another great classic with a great story to tell. 9. It's A Heartache. Loved it when Bonnie Tyler recorded it, but love it even more when Rod belts out this ballad. I'd like to believe he added it to tonight's show just for me! 10. Downtown Train. He always gives credit to Tom Waits before he starts singing this one. A beautifully done tune. Again my heart melts! 11. First Cut Is The Deepest. Yet again another story in song that so many of us can connect with. 12. Ohh La La. Loved this when it first appeared on the When We Were The New Boys album. Loved it even more when I had the privilege of being hand a soccer ball by Rod in Camden, New Jersey!! 13. Reason To Believe. "Knowing that you lied, straight faced while I cried". Another line that rips onto my soul. 14. You're In My Heart. Classic ballad that the audience takes over! I can only imagine the emotions that Rod must feel as we all sing our hearts out. It must be an adrenaline rush and humbling at the same time. He looked truly moved. 15. Have I Told You Lately. At last a chance to sit down and rest my weary from dancing 63 year old body!! Not for long though...... 16. Proud Mary. The ladies do an amazing job with this one! I'm pretty sure Tina Turner would approve! 17. Maggie May. Again he invites us to sing as the cameras pan the audience. 18. Stay With Me. The audience stayed with him through the whole journey of his songs. Rod did comment on the smaller than usual stage in a joking way. I say it's not the size of the stage, it's how you work it. He worked it like a pro. Those down front were close enough to be able to shake his hand!! 19. Encore, Do You Think I'm Sexy. Yes!!! It was, using another tour name, A Night To Remember. However for me that goes for all his concerts!! Rock on Rod!!!

Rod Stewart still wears it quite well at 72. Recognized the military during WWII as well as the current Mosul operation. Class.

As always Rod Stewart is amazing in concert and his performance at Taj Mahal was no exception. It was a smaller stadium than most of his concerts but it just made him seem up close and personal. Nice touch with balloons at the end.

So you think a 70 year old rocker can't still put on a great show. Well, let me tell you this man and his band are amazing. Great set, great musicians, great set list. Tickets were pricey, but once you see the show you know why. Rod and crew spared no expense on anything. His back up signers/ dancers were outstanding and did Proud Mary on their own and it killed! Highly recommended, my top 3 all time now including Prince and Jackson Browne for a live concert. So many great songs, would have liked to hear Young Turks, Passion, and Hot Legs, but he just left us wanting more.

My wife's favorite entertainer is Rod Stewart. We got to see him in Louisville years ago, but when my wife's birthday came around, and the concert was announced, this was a no brainer! I got great seats in the 3rd row center, and we were off to Bloomington. The warmup band was OK, but when they ended, there was electricity in the coliseum. The stage was set, and the lights went down. Rod Stewart is 72 years old, but unlike some other singers from the 70's, he has not had horrible plastic surgery. He looked great, was fit as a fiddle, probably no more than 8% body fat, and his voice was FLAWLESS! The orchestra behind him was fantastic! The backup singers were beautiful and had voiices like angels, and Rod was AMAZING! He did a few new songs, but most of the show was oldies, that have never gotten old! A magnificient concert!

Thus was my 4th time seeing Rod and the first in nearly 20 years. Getting beyond the fact that it is a 70yr old rocker who may have lost a step in his athletic abilities, and can no longer hit the higher-end of the vocal registry, the man still puts on a highly entertaining show. He played just over 90minutes with 17 tracks covering a wide swath of his catalog. He still can kick a soccerball into the overhead lights and knows how to get his fans singing. Its not Rod of the 70s, 80s or 90s, but then why would you expect that?

Rod Stewart proved to be forever young and totally entertaining tonight. The show was nonstop hit after hit.... With a couple Faces songs which was a great surprise. Staging and band were very good. Back up singers were exceptional. I did not expect this good of a show. Highly recommended.

The show was great, he still has the energy to rock us all, you can just see he still loves to perform for his fans. The voice is strong (even with cold) he did not let us down.

Rod Stewart is a wonderful entertainer, his back up singers and band are a wealth of talent. Stage had a classy look and teh video/pictures in the back ground were great. Rod can still move and kick a soccer ball to the back of the stadium. My only wish is he would of played 2-3 more songs, the hour and a half went by too fast.

I have seen most Rod Stewart concerts, I believe all but one since 1977. I must say Rod was in fine form this evening. He seemed so very happy & delighted to be performing. He beamed when his daughter Ruby joined him onstage for "Forever Young". The stage was simply magnificent. So simple but beautiful. He played for 2 hours and there was not a single dull moment!

I have missed Rod Stewart in concert. He is back and just as good as ever. I highly recommend his concert to everyone. He sang his oldies but goodies and he sang his new stuff. He performs with class and an energy that belies his age. I wish he was coming back in the area again I would make sure to be in the audience again. Welcome back Rod Stewart. Don't be a stranger come back to the NY area.

I've seen Rod Stewart many times but this was THE BEST show ever. His daughter also came out and sang an original of hers and sang with her dad a couple songs. Steve Winwood was AWESOME too. I only got tickets because he was playing since I've seen Rod so many times. It was so worth it! I also had great seats, on the side of the stage with no obstruction. I almost sold my tickets due to a severe tendonitis problem in my legs but thank God I sucked it up and went anyway! GREAT, GREAT show!

One of the best shows we've ever been to! Stevie Winwood is legend but to be honest Iwas a little sceptical about Rod - I mean he's 68, so maybe a washed up has been?? Wrong, wrong, wrong!!! Rod Stewart was super energetic, his voice is as good as ever and the show was cool, classy and terrific from beginning to end. Would highly highly recommend. If he comes back to Boston we will definitely go to see him again!

This was my third Rod Stewart Concert and as always Rod and his team were brilliant. This is one show that you need not be hesitant to attend as Rod has always been in a class by himself and for me is considered one of the best entertainers of all times. I promise you will be delighted as there is nothing like an entire audience singing with Rod . . . Maggie May

We were disappointed when the original show was postponed but it was worth the wait for this one. It was a great night to be in Boston. Stevie Winwood as an opening act started the night off and he didn't disappoint. Rod Stewart puts on a great show even still. We saw Elton John a couple of weeks back and he was horrible. Elton should go see a Rod Stewart show and see how it should be done.. We almost stayed home because of the show being mid week an hour from home but we are glad we didn't Thanks Mr Stewart!

I've been wanting to see Rod since the Do Ya Think I'm Sexy tour when my Bible Belt parents wouldn't allow me to go to concerts. I've always had the hots for Rod and he didn't disappoint. He doesn't dance quite the way he used to but he is still quite the charmer! His daughter sang a song with him and on one her own and was a fun addition to the show. I loved that he played all the old songs we wanted to hear and wasn't trying to sell us a new album. He was very gracious about having cancelled and then postponing previous engagements here. He did a couple of costume changes and had some cool video and images running on the big screen behind him. Overall Great Show!

As always, Rod put on a tremendous show. he was in a great mood, lots of interaction with the crowd, joking with the band memebers. It was a treat to see his daughter, Ruby Stewart perform a song she had written and also their duet on "Forever Young". She truly has a great voice and I'm sure we will be hearing more from her.

This man needs NO review, truly ! 74 and still entertains as if he is in his 30's. He had his daughter come out and sing a few. And he kicked out about 100 signed soccer balls which was fun!

First of all the personal at the Palce were terrific and very helpful... As mentioned we have been to many many concerts at the Palace, the Fox and this was the best. Most impressive was Rod's personality, you knew his songs were going to be great but he really seems like a great guy.
