Amazing performance! Highly recommend get out see them when they come to your town. They have matured a lot and perfectected their sound. Great combination when they mix in the classics we all still love to scream back to them.

I've never heard of the opener, Caspian, before but they were amazing. Very technical, progressive, ambient hard rock. I was just staring in amazement, even got chills sometimes. But now on to UnderOath... If you've been to or heard about UnderOath shows, you know they're high energy. So when I heard one of my favorite bands was back together (Aaron Gillespie included) and they were playing their 2 best selling albums (both Gold) in their entirety, I was definitely going. The Pageant is my favorite venue, not a bad place to sit/stand in the whole venue but big enough to bring in some bigger acts. We ended up in the balcony which I will always be doing now, great view up there. Well back to show...UnderOath even had more energy, which I don't know how that's possible but they did. You can tell the band is pumped up about their "rebirth." The show had production (some special effects, video) which I've never seen them do before. Obviously it's great to see not 1 but 2 albums performed in their entirety. The little tweaks, additions, and instrumentals connecting songs were great to see as well. Great show!!!

They played songs from "They're only chasing safety" and "define the great line" They sounded great! Also Aaron had "Merle" wrote on his kick drum. That was cool. Also my first time seeing them live!

The facilities were good and they had some food vending. There is a pizza place right across the street with a take out window so that helps while everyone is standing in line. The sound was good and there was good security. I am writing as the 50 year old father of a son whom I went with. I did not really understand the music but at least I was able to sit in the balcony and experience the scene as my son wanted me to do.

If you went there mainly to see Underoath you would have been disapointed because although they preformed well their show lost some of the energy they started out with and finished with. Emery and August Burns Red preformed very nicely with no gaps in the set.

I've been to a lot of concerts, and Underoath's performance has topped them all! High Energy and great music. The other bands, Emery and August Burns Red, also did a terrific job. I wish Emery would have played longer because they are pretty killer. When you leave a concert drenched in sweat, and without a voice... you know it was an epic show!

This concert was stunning. The first band was eh, but what can you say about a supporting band thats not even listed on the local advertisement posters? Then came Emery, a band i'm not too fond of but they were surprisingly good. Next came the real reason I was there: AUGUST BURNS RED. They were, without a doubt, one of, if not the best band I've seen live. Their performance was amazing and the energy in the room could be felt in every mosh pit, crowd surf, and fist pump. Lastly came Underoath, another great band yet I still ranked them lower than ABR. However, they easily put on a spectacular show, and the crowd was really into it and it was an all around amazing experience. If your into this music, DEFINITELY see these bands live.

I dont know if my hopes were too high or what but i was LET DOWN by their live show. I have seen many bands at Revolution like stone sour, chiodos, the devil wears prada, all much better sounding than underoath was last night. Emery was great beforehand, and even august burns red sounded better if not with a mediocre mix. This show in the end was just a big /sigh

I found myself yawning about 15 minutes into the underoath's performance because every one of their songs sounds the same while being rather boring to begin with. By far the worst concert I've ever been to i could only recommended seeing one of their shows if you happen to be a die hard fan. The two bands that opened the show were slightly better though August Burns Red was the only mildly enjoyable part. I will never go to any show ever again that underoath is a part of and I wish I could get my money back

Each show they do is special and different in the way you won't forget them. I highly recommend anyone who listens to metalcore or christian music, to give them a listen. Underoath's farewell show was incredible. They definitely picked the right venue to say farewell to the music scene as a group. Thirteen years of passion, dedication, and beautiful compositions were displayed in one cosmic moment. Unforgettable show. I went to about a dozen concerts this summer and this one was by far the best. The sound quality was clear which was a first for me, having been to several shows before with lesser acoustics. Not to mention the venue was very nice, and not crowded. Even though the opening act, Stray From The Path was unable to attend, Letlive put on a memorable show, the theatrics easily setting the band apart from the others. times of grace was much anticipated for me and did not disappoint at all. Their show was easily my favorite of the night. Underoath's show was great, though the pit got pretty packed and I almost witnessed a couple fights. Other than that, their show was smooth and the songs and videos helped create a lasting experience for me. i would highly recommend any hard rock or metal shows at this venue - it will undoubtedly be the best setting for you to witness your favorite bands in!

Underoath: "The Only Survivor Was Miraculously Unharmed", "Anyone Can Dig a Hole But It Takes A Real Man To Call It Home", "Young And Aspiring", "Emergency Broadcast... The End Is Near", "Returning Empty Handed", "Casting Such A Thin Shadow", "You're Ever So Inviting", "Too Bright To See, Too Loud To Hear", "We Are The Involuntary"(?), "Breathing In A New Mentality"-----Encore-----, "The Blue Note", "It's Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door", "Writing On The Walls" August Burns Red: "White Washed", "Paradox", "The Truth Of A Liar", "The Eleventh Hour", "The Escape Artist", "Meddler", "Back Burner", "Existence", "Marianas Trench", "Thirty And Seven", "Composure" ***NOTE: Setlists are to the best of my memory in order. ABR's set is almost completely out of order, I believe. I did the best I could, but seeing them twice in two months made me forget alot and mix them a bit.*** August 4th, 2008 -- The last time Underoath took the stage in Clifton Park and Northern Lights. (At least I can be 99.999985% sure.) Other than having seen Aerosmith with my mom (have some laughs now...) several years before at SPAC, that was my first REAL show, and when the concert was first announced (as in the first time my friends and I heard a collective announcement of the show), I had no intention of going. I was still growing into the metal scene at the time, listening to a bit of Killswitch Engage, Senses Fail, As I Lay Dying, Avenged Sevenfold, and Static-X mixes. Some bands I'd listened to before and was always a fan f, but began to listen to at excess. My friend introduced me to Underoath's 'Define The Great Line' album, and I was hooked. Their DVD 'Survive, Kaleidoscope' drew me into their album 'They're Only Chasing Safety', and I was a huge fan of the band within two months. August rolled around, and so did Mayhem Fest. A fan of UO now - I bought a ticket to the Aug. 4 show, and a ticket to Mayhem Fest in nearby Hartford, CT; only twelve days later. I've seen them four times, five including this show. None of them to date were nearly as impressive or well performed than this one. So on to the latest show, December 2nd, 2009: Emery started the show, and having never known them before, I have to say I may start listening to them. Goofy antics included dressing in all winter weight clothing, including heavy winter coats and ski hats. The stage had Christmas decorations (which dissapeared after their set, and TOTALLY dissapointed me!), including colorful streamers and I think Christmas tree but they definately had an inflatable snowman up there which made me laugh. Good set, the crowd got into it, I did too, and their singer managed to end up halfway in the crowd still rocking the hell out. August Burns Red just rolled through recently with Acacia Strain, Impending Doom, and Mychildren Mybride. They headlined that show. They blew Northern Lights apart. It was an awesome time. They didn't headline here, but the setlist wasn't much shorter (my only recollection of a missing song was "An American Dream"). I was actually shocked "Marianas Trench" made the set that night. I always feel like bands go for harder, more mosh heavy sets when they don't headline. August Burns Red drops that cliche like a ton of bricks with this song. To be fair, the intro is the only really "slow" part, but the melodic opening just doesn't scream "metal show" to me. I'm in no way complaining that they played it - it's a personal favorite off the CD for sure. I'm just noting the awesomeness I've seen it twice in the last few months. They utilized the (new?) projector in the bar to shine their album cover on the back wall, elimnating the need for the lame hanging backdrops, and crammed room for the drummers. Awesome. They also used smokers again, and a ton of strobes which just made the set so much better. (I'm trying so hard to not cuss to get my point across a little more.) They opened with "White Washed", my absolute favorite song from their CD, 'Constellations'. They ended with "Composure", another favorite and ironically the song that got me into the band. All in all, I will pay money to see August Burns Red any day of the week, if they're within a reasonable distance. The lights come on for seemingly FOREVER, until FINALLY a darkness overtakes the Clifton Park venue -- and the screen lights up. It's time for the headliner: Underoath. If you've seen the DVD, the opening was similar to the one used there, only it's a continuation of the story they created there. I WISH they would release those videos online under their YouTube account, or on a DVD, or something. I would love to see the full videos and ACTUALLY hear the dialogue clearly to understand it all. It's great art, I need to actually see it and hear it to truly appreciate it! Anywho, it goes quiet, and they NAIL the crowd with 4 tall, multi, mini-bulb, standing lights. They were intense, and the stage lighting and strobes just intensified the awesome sound of the opening screams of "The Only Survivor Was Miraculously Unharmed". I was so ecstatic, and the crowd just exploded into a frenzy. They continued through their set and impressed me with a dark lit set and "Emergency Broadcast... The End Is Near". Spencer played the guitar as well. He even threw it back on for a personal live favorite of theirs, "Casting Such A Thin Shadow". Let me say, that most bands on stage, even the GREAT ones-- I feel don't do for me, what that show did. The lighting, the music, just the technique of the whole thing is on another level of performance. It's not another show with great songs or something. The pits exploded everytime the song called out to the masses with a 'breakdown' (or as close as you can get in an Underoath song). "You're Ever So Inviting" was the song that helped me listen to the band at first. They led straight into that, causing me to scream the lyrics harder than I had all night (I'm positive everyone around me was impressed with my skil - they all seemed to enjoy it, I swear). The rest of the set was nothing short of fantastic, Spencer was more than friendly as always in between songs. The rest of the guys seemed into it, but pretty drained it looked like. Must be exhausted. I was nowhere near dissapointed by anything they had done that niht though. It was all awesome. They took a fifteen second off-stage break (which I saw no point in, as they came right back out with "The Blue Note" and then jumped into their encore (which I'm not completely positive of setlist-wise). In any case, they closed with "Writing On the Walls" which seems to be their favorite closer the last few months, and an awesome one I might say. The only dissapointing thing the entire night ---- was the ridiculous sound set-up. I swear the sound set up in Northern Lights is absolutely awful. The only GOOD show I EVER saw there was the first UO show last year. Ever since, the shows I've seen have awful levels with the drums entirely too loud, vocals low to the floor, and high end guitars. It's like, "Deafen the crowd! Who cares about the music? They know the songs, they can sing louder now!" It's stupid. Fix it. I want to hear Aaron Gillespie, not sing FOR him, because his mic is practically muted. All in all - This show was more than five stars. I'd say fifty. Amazingness. I recommended this from late September, the day the preorder went on sale (when I bought the very first presale ticket - proof attached). I knew it would be great and I wanted everyone to go. In the end, most of my friends were there. The bands performed amazingly, and I can't wait to see them ALL again now. If this tour heads near you - GO SEE IT. PAY WHATEVER! SEE IT!

the venue, the masqerade is really rad. this was my first time at this venue and i really liked the set up. the sound was on and the staff was nice. emery played second and they rocked the house. they played some old songs which to me just took the show to a whole new level. they have such a great stage show and play really really good music. the crowd was electric. they had a Christmas theme set up on stage which was cool underoath played last and the crowd went nuts. i made it to the front about 4 people back from the stage. it was so freakin hot and tight but i got some really rad photos. they played an allsome set. also played one or two old songs. the lead singer told the crowd that the reason they tour and play music is to honor Jesus Christ and to bring people to the love and knowledge of Him. that was rad.

After a set by opener Caspian, which almost put me to sleep a few times, Underoath came out swinging! Having seem their live shows grow more and more amazing over the past 12 years, this was definitely one of the best I've seen. Hard as ever, tight playing, and on point. During a lull, due to technical issues with Tim McTague's guitar, Spencer bantered about playing in Philly and how recording their live DVD at the Electric Factory earlier was such a special milestone for them. They played one of the longest sets I've ever seen them play and even threw in a song or two that they've never played live. The crowd energy was fantastic and the band sounded better than they have in years (if that's even possible)!

This concert was amazing. They are still so good after all these years. Singing along with some of my favorite childhood songs live, along with a huge crowd of fans was simply unforgettable. Money very well spent. Only two gripes: 1) I wished they had played all of "Some Will Seek Forgiveness, Others Escape" in the way it was recorded on the CD. They tacked a shorter version onto the end of the second-to-last song, which was a little disappointing. 2) There were several people who brought air horns, including someone at the sound desk, for crying out loud! What the heck? They blew them a few times throughout the performance, which didn't ruin it, but was distracting.

The show was great overall. Good sound quality. My only complaints were that it was over crowded to the point where it was difficult to breathe at times and that it was difficult to see. The over-crowding is pretty common for a sold out show. However, even with platform heels on, I had significant difficulty seeing anyone on stage for more than a quick glimpse. I haven't noticed this at previous shows. Perhaps I am usually closer to the stage.

This concert closed my childhood because I used to listen to Underoath all the time. Now that they have gone, so has my love for their genre. First time to the Masq, and i loved it.

AnnoyingLightInTheCrowd
I did not like Letlive's performance and some of their music was unprofessionally presented and the content was relatively immature compared to more well-known bands. As Cities Burn had great stage performance and was involved well with the crowd and adjusted behavior according to the crowd's reactions. Mewithoutyou's performance was somewhat lacking in energy but, the way they performed their music was pleasing and easy to listen to. Even though the crowd was not very active during mewithoutyou's session of play, lots of people were bobbing their heads to the music and the band received decent applause. UnderØath's performance was acceptable but a little on-edge according to the way they started each song. It was because of the energetic start to some songs that caused so many "mosh pits" and eager fans to just behave rampantly. The music was phenomenal, a lot of the songs sounded as if it was being played directly from an mp3 player or CD. Of course Spencer, the singer, is older now so the older tunes sounded different and I'm sure he planned to present them differently. The whole band was full of spirit and joy to be playing in the home state from which the band originated. The light show was very-well coordinated with the style of music played. Underoath was kind enough to give back to the fans by giving away some priceless treasures from a raffle. Chris and Tim sacrificed some instruments into the crowd. They showed their appreciation of fans by playing some of their pop tunes and because Spencer made stress relieving speeches. Also, the tickets were only $28!!!!!

I've seen a lot of great shows at Masquerade, many of them farewell tour shows (Copeland, Thrice, and now Underoath). The venue's always great.

Underoath outdid themselves. I'd seen them before but this show was insane. They played the songs that got me into screamo music in the first place. Too bad this review doesn't mean anything because they only have one show left, ever. :(

venue was good; clean; lots of ushers; lots of room; drinks expensisve. bands were great. being the finale tour for underoath the band and audience went all out. it was a highly energetic show. spencer of underoath had a few words to say about the bands end and he was near tearful. overall a great show and experience.

The opening acts where uninspired and genuinely terrible. Underoath guitar tones sounded good but they seemed to not care and at times it felt like they'd rather be somewhere else. I guess for a farewell tour I expected more energy and a little more umph. The Sound Academy is a crummy venue and I wish promoters would stop booking there.

Good venue at Sound Academy, Letlive is crazy and fun groovecore. As Cities Burn had a lot more to offer than I expected. mewithoutYou was our big ticket show - they were very solid: their music and persona so original. Underoath was really bringing it. Haven't followed their last couple releases, but their music was intense and the show was pretty spectacular. Had a great roadtrip and concert with my best bud.

State Theater was a bit of a let down. I can appreciate the "up close and personal" feel with the bands, but there were no seats. Standing for 4 hours was a bit ridiculous. Security was good. Alot of people, and since we were all standing so close together, there was alot of body odor. 2nd band had some technical/sound issues that they could never resolve. Of all the opening bands, Chariot was the best even with sound issues. Underoath was enjoyable, however since I had been standing for 3 hours next to alot of stinky people, I was ready for them to start and finish quickly. Mosh pit was closely watched by security which was good. Only got one drink spilled on me, so I guess that wasn't bad. Overall, liked the concept of the show/venue better than the implementation. Need some chairs and more ventilation. My niece sat on a railing pillar and she absolutely loved the show, so it was worth it in the end.

This was a comment on an UO live video on you tube and it seems appropriate to quote them now: the show was so sick that it need to be quarantined.

I had some some love and respect for Underoath after Aaron left and advoided them for a year... I was a avid fan, I first saw them when I was 9 years old, so I grew up listening to them. But after some thoughts and talking to Aaron, I was excited to fall in love with them and give it a second shot. I'm so glad I did, it was an amazing show and I felt like a carefree kid again, I needed that escape and Spencer looked oh so sexy! Hahh! <3

The two opening bands, Times of Grace and I forget the other, were both good. But it was Underoath that really turned up the heat. Everything from the lights, videos, setlist, crowd interaction/participation, etc. was done to the highest degree possible. Simply an unbelievable show that I will never forget. Totally looking forward to seeing them again sooner rather than later.

Great performance. The opening band, Times of Grace put on a solid set to start out. Underoath put on a high energy set. Some metal bands can't recreate the sound from their albums live, but Underoath sounded amazing. Tight set from start to finish.

Underoath could have played their one hour show as a solo performance on its recent tour, and its enormous fan base would have gotten their money's worth. Not only is this Christian metal band musically sound, its performance of old and new songs with an animated and talented Spencer Chamberlain on the mic brought down the National this past Thursday. Underoath played its set of old favorites and several songs from its recently released album, Disambiguation, all to the backdrop of a unique combination light and video show that has become trademark Underoath. No other Christian metal band performs a show better than Underoath. Let Live, the first of the opening bands, was decent musically, but somewhat forgettable. Next in the lineup was Stray From the Path. This band deserves an "A" for its musical talent and showmanship: however, its song lyrics were unimaginative and filled with repetition of inane phrases, earning an "F" for lack of creativity. If I had a nickel for every expletive that exploded from the frontman's mouth, I would have left the National a very rich woman. Times of Grace performed an amazing show, ending its set with two beautifully penned ballads. Not bad for a somewhat aging Christian rock band.

I mainly went to the concert to see Times of Grace because I am huge Jesse Leach and Adam D. fan and it was by far the best concert I have been to. I got to talk to Adam D. before the show at his merchant booth and he signed my shirt and took a picture with me. I got to do the same with Jesse after the show. They were both great guys and totally killed it up on stage.

What a KILLER show! I am SO glad I didn't miss it!!! Definitely get out there and see Times of Grace!!! It is awesome seeing Adam and Joel and Jesse! They all did amazing!! Matt was AWESOME filling in on bass!! I was really impressed by him and I'm not a huge fan of Shadows Fall. The drummer was good too not to leave him out. I think the whole band really played well together and I'm SO excited they came to Portland!!!!!! PLEASE COME BACK!!! The bummer is we saw Joel outside and thought we did but he didn't have the HAIR so it wasn't till he showed up on stage with SHORT hair we realized we missed our opportunity to meet him. He did toss my hubby a nod and a pick though. :)

Having been a fan of Underoath since I was 12 years old, 10 years later I felt it was finally time to witness them live. I had always heard stories about how amazing they are in concert. Friends kept reassuring me that "Underoath WILL NOT let you down." Turns out they were absolutely right. I'm a little disappointed I've never made it out to see them perform sooner, but I think the wait made it that much better. Seeing these guys physically pour their hearts into their performance definitely showed. Undoubtedly impressed with this band.

Ok, so I got front row center. Best show I've ever been too, ever. Every single band was awesome. I never have EVERY band being awesome. Well, the opening was a local band they didn't tell us about. That was not too great. But letlive opened officially and they were amazing. Most energetic performers I have ever seen. Stray From The Path was next, they were great. nothing bad about them. Times of Grace. Now THEY were the reason I went to his tour. Best band ever. Just ever. I love them! Underoath played a great set. Mostly new songs. Never heard or seen them ever but they were kickass. The whole crowd got into it by the end.

Thursday was awesome as they have been every time I've seen them. The other bands weren't bad but I was extremely disappointed to find that Thursday wasn't playing last and therefor had no encore. They did play Full Collapse front to back as promised which still made it worth the price of admission but as a long time Thursday fan I thought the accompanying acts could have been a better fit and the merch selection was pretty weak.

Finally! Definitely the single word I would use to describe this show. The sound has been so off the past few shows I've attended at HoB, but it was completely and utterly spot on at this one. I don't know whether it was the sound guys, a change in setup, or the bands, but it was amazing. "Underoath" was on point as well which was quite a change from their last HoB show. The drummer swap wasn't the smoothest in my opinion, but it is all working out for the best now. "Animals as leaders" was new to my ears and proved to be quite an entertaining group of guys to watch, sans vocals and bass. "A Skylit Drive" wasn't quite mixed well for me, but they do have a superb stage show. "Thursday," as always, sounded incredible and didn't stray much from their CD sound. A+ overall!
