Tremendously enjoyed the performance, at least that which we could see. . It is difficult to buy tickets online at Ticket Master to an event when you don't know the venue. Stage left - was hidden from complete view by equipment and lighting. Since it was below the stage performers with fans waving in the audience blocked our view as well. The pics of the venue provided by ticketmaster or the College were not helpful at all!

There are not enough positive adjectives to describe our experience at the Hot Chocolate Nutcracker. It defied imagination. The children, the costumes, the adults, the singing, the comedy, the different cultures that were represented, the dreams, the DANCING, the MUSIC!!!!!! THE MAGIC OF IT ALL. Thank you Ms. Allen and all that were involved in producing this outstanding, cultural event. Our family will be talking about our experience for months to come............and we plan to attend next year with an even larger group.

So relaxing the performers with the beautiful music. I wish my other family members could have attend, but due to a death in the family they could not attend. I am hopefull that maybe next year they can see this wonderful performace. I loved the angel scene, it was so gentle and gliding. The male dancers have such strong legs in the scene that required them to fully expand their legs and hold for several minutes. It was a soothing, peaceful, vibrant performance. I took Marquis, my exchange student from China. He loved the performace and will see it again next year. He loved it so much that he purchased a sweatshirt. All in all I am happy have seen Debbie Allen's version of "HOT Chocolate Nutcracker. "

I absolutely loved it! It was a great way to kick off the Christmas season with my family. The way the different countries were showcased was brilliant. The performance helped me to see the value of the arts and why it's important to continue to provide our youth with opportunities such as DADA. My family & I will be back next year & we're even looking into other productions put on by DADA.

Debbie Allen's Hot Chocolate Nutcracker was an amazing display of dance and song! What a unique take on the traditional holiday story of the Nutcracker. The talent that was on display, from the young girl who portrayed "Cara" to the Pas de Du to Candy Cane Lane to the celebration on Bourbon Street, it was all fantastic! I am soooo glad that this wonderful production will be performed again next year. What at awesome way to keep the arts alive in our community and in the lives of our young people. Loved it loved it loved it. My daughter (now 27) danced every role as a youth in the original Nutcracker for a local youth program affiliated with Allan Hancock College. We had also seen the Russian version, the Canadian version, the San Luis Obispo version (at Cal Poly) so it was so much fun to see it with a modern twist. Loved the dancers, they were spectacular, and loved the music and the 'theater' feeling of the production. My only complaint was the volume - and at 65 I am a little hard of hearing. I had to cover my ears at times. This was the best version of the usual boring 'Party Scene' that I have seen. I would go again; congratulations to the fabulous dancers - from the very youngest to candy canes, to the Spanish they made my heart soar - Jacquie

The Holt Chocolate Nutcracker was everything I imagined and more! My husband was skeptical in the beginning thinking it was a little kids show but in the midst of it, he was dancing in his seat and so was my daughter. The venue itself is visibly appealing and the show was geared towards all ages. It was colorful and the depiction of all different cultures/countries made it even more colorful! Also the montage of different dance styles made it so much more entertaining! Raven Simone and Debbie Allen's participation (we found out she was one of the mice) was icing on the cake! I would highly recommend this fabulous Christmas/Holiday production!

Loved the multi-culturalism.The kids were all so well trained and executed perfectly! Wish I had a program. Couldn't find them until after and then the line was way too long. The venue has very difficult access for the handicapped and was quite a struggle until I ran into one of the three wheelchairs. All-in-all it cost me $25 in tips to get to my seat BUT it was all worth it! Will go again next year and encourage members of my church to attend.

The production of Hot Chocolate Nutcracker was very delightful. The costumes and set designs were magical. Being prejudiced , I have two children in the production however watching Miss Allen take these four to eighteen year olds and forge them into a production company was the material of a reality show. The show for them started with auditions and only ended offstage when they said goodbye. The show is proof of the vision and capacity of Debbie Allan to teach our young girls and boys to be Dancers. To watch the disparate group of children dance like the pros they are warms your heart. The material is a fresh and accessible take on the classic nutcracker which although a magnificent score and performance is only for aficionados of Ballet, this performance has something for everyone. Kudos to the cast and Miss Debbie

Debbie Allen and her team drew together traditional and modern dance techniques across numerous cultures in a breathtaking display. The choreographic approach was well thought out. Many scenes had dozens on stage with a wide variety of age groups; the visuals were smooth and the dances were technically flawless. The use of integrated storytelling brought an element to the performance that kept the audience engaged. The use of background visual effects also added to the experience. The end result was a powerful and memorable performance.

Very disappointed with Debbie Allen's Hot Chocolate Nutcracker production. I was looking forward to it, but from the start onward, it just didn't meet the standards we have come to expect from Debbie Allen. The performance began late. The opening was messy and the stage was overcrowded. It was difficult to see all the performers on stage. The show's best acts were with streamlined performances such as Candy Cane Land and the dancing couple in air on ribbon hanging from the ceiling. Kudos, though to costuming and stage design in acts such as Egypt and Bollywood. All in all, it was a courageous effort, but fell short of a production that charges the public a lot of money to see it. I would not recommend this performance.

I was rather disappointed in this production as I had such high hopes. I was expecting at least some of the Nutcracker music, but done with innovative funky dances. That was not the case. The music was an eclectic mix, most of which I didn't recognize, and the dance styles were varied, but only a few of the numbers were entertaining. My group especially loved the candy cane hip hop, aerobatic ribbon, and the rain forest numbers. The girl who played Kara was wonderful, the person who played the Nutcracker was a little lacking. The most annoying part of the show were the quartet of mouse narrators - it was almost impossible to understand what they were saying - the audio mix, or mics were off - not quite sure what was going on, but the base levels actually hurt our ears. And, the yellow mouse was the hardest to understand...guess who that turned out to be? Surprise!

I really enjoyed seeing Debbie Allen's version of the classic "Nutcracker" ballet. It was fantastic; costuming was great; stage settings were good; talent ranged from good to excellent. It was a beautiful experience to share and have many of our community performers included from the Los Angeles area. I can believe that each year we will see improvement upon improvement as Debbie receives her reviews from viewers. As long as she gets the support to continue her show, the artistry will surely manifest itself through those benefits.

Despite the late start, which did aggravate me, it was a must see. With a variety of dance genres there's something for everyone as viewers are taken around the world by music and dance. Had it not been for the late start, I would have given the performance five stars. I attended with my husband, who usually sleeps through part of a ballet, and my 18 year old son. This was my family's 3rd year seeing this show and we all enjoyed it just as much as we did the 1st time around. It has become a tradition for us and we've even invited others that we know to attend so the group is growing.

The show was fabulous, the choreography was outstanding. From the oldest to the youngest dancer they all performed with grace and style. It is a show to be seen again and again. Thank you Debbie Allen!

I brought my 6 year old granddaughter and she said it was amazing. We both thought it was a great show for kids as well as adults. It was a true joy to see so many talented young kids on that stage. We are looking forward to next year now.

I'm an avid theater enthusiast. In addition my 9 year old daughter and 6 year old son are part of a larger musical organization in Los Angeles that does a fantastic job choreographing literally hundreds of kids on stage. Debbie Allen's Nutcracker is a cut above anything that I have seen that is predominately childrens based acting, dancing and ballet (mostly under 21 years of age). They sprinkle a few adults to carry the main theme and significant singing roles, but the remainder of the 100+ member cast are young adults to kids. The story line is wonderful. The adventures that the kids reveal are just precious. This is not a serious theatrical ballet at the Dorothy Pavillion, but it is a much more entertaining and family fun event that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Thanks Debbie Allen! You ROCK and you made magic! Raven is so beautiful (thanks for the autographed Nut Crackers Debbie and Raven) my 28 yr old son loved this Christmas gift. This was my 1st Nutcracker expierience of any type and my 1st visit to the UCLA campus. All was wonderful and I had as much fun as the little girl seated behind me. Already recommended to many and making plans for next year. Yep, that Hot Chocolate Nutcracker made for a perfect Prince. Hooray Debbie Allen.

The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker was amazing! The choreography, the dancers, the story, as well as the music was all simply fabulous. . Royce Hall is a great venue, but it doesn't hold enough people. Add more shows so more people can be educated on Debbie Allen and her dance company can do and to display their talent and beauty. This should be performed more than twice to the public and should travel from Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside Counties
