Not only does Basia still have it, she sounds even more amazing than ever! I was fortunate enough to meet her after the show, and she could NOT any sweeter or more humble! A beautiful singer and person!

It was like hearing her albums come to life. What an experience! I'm not the typical fan, being younger than most in the crowd, but she really put on a show. Not the flashy show of the Red Hot Chili Peppers or Tiesto, but just great music. The talent of the band, the backup singers, and "the girl" really shine and it's not something to miss! She even took a few requests!

Basia was Great!! She sang some old and some new songs.. I personally like the old ones better.. Band was OK, but needed a Bass Player; the Guitar Player has 2 do double duty and also play the Bass.. Love the closeness of the Birchmere to all of the tables..Lighting was too low.. I tried to take some pictures with a nice camera; they were fair but since now flashes were allowed, more stage light was needed..

I had waited 16+ years to be able to come across an event that Basia appeared in...I got my tickets early, thanks to Ticketmaster alerts, and we went to go see her in Melbourne, FL last night. She opened with a cut from her newest album and then launched into what can only be described as some "Best of..." Amazing range, creativity, engaging, heartfelt and soulful...she really does still have it. She got a standing ovation after hitting all the hard stuff in "Time & Tide". Truly hair-raising, eye-watering performance. I feel fulfilled in having seen her and would encourage anyone to go see her. I'm a long-time fan, but I feel that for those who aren't, they would become instant fans after seeing her perform live. ...and Danny White, too! Band and back-ups were awesome!

This show was definately NOT dissappointing. Basia's vocals were right on...and especially her backup singers were just as incredible. Basia is the most underrated DIVA out. If you like vocals and awesome harmonies, you haver to go see her.

Basia was a true treasure. My wife & I love her CD's but live, she shares her beautiful soul with you. She is touring with a smaller, but excellent band. She did songs off her new CD - all great writing and we will buy it today! The show was also loaded with her numerous great hits. Can't say enough over how her personality shines through along side her gifted voice. We felt like we saw an old friend. The people who run sound at the King Center do a substandard job with the mix. The drummer's overhead mic was off for most of the performance, you could barely hear the acoustic guitar - except when Basia featured him in a solo, and the poor fellow playing sax/flute was inaudible for pretty much the whole show. 5 stars for Basia, 1 star the the sound guys.

I have Basia albums and I have enjoyed her unique style over the years. It was wonderful to see her in person. Wonderful musicians - a quartet with a BIG sound- Great tenor sax and flute - an American - an Italian guitarist (acoustic electric) and bassist - an incredible drummer from London - Then there is Basia's partner / collaborator on keyboards Danny White -Basia had two Russian women (twins) vocal singers that added the vocal harmony that is the Basia sound. . Both of their voices were almost equal to Basia Basia is a very warm person to the audience. She was very humble and appreciated the applause.

Having missed her when she toured the last time, I was not going to miss her again. Saturday night I was rewarded with a wonderful set in the intimate setting that is Club Nokia! I have been a big fan of Basia since 1989 and I like many others was bummed about her extended "vacation". Well she is back with a vengeance! Her new music is amazing, and her live set was a great mix of old and new material! Her new guitar player is really good, and yes I, like everybody else was elated to see Peter White jump on stage to help take the show home! Basia seems to really be enjoying herself onstage, and she is singing great! What would give this performance 5 stars is a horn section, and a longer set.. Keep making music Basia, and build off this momentum! Welcome back!!!

From start to finish, simply amazing. Get to see her again on the 2nd of October. She never fails. Her band is incredible and there was actually a rush of the stage by the audience with some singing along with her. And the venue and acoustics of Club Nokia, Wow!

She was great, as usual. I have seen her many times in the past and also with Matt Bianco. She was her usual sweet and charming self. She looked fantastic (having dropped a lot of weight since last year). She did all the music you would expect. For some reason her mic level was lower than it typically is for her shows. She has a very powerful voice but she held back a bit (might be that she was having some trouble or a cold). But even so she was pitch perfect. Her two back up singers are really great at harmonizing with her and sound similar to her voice so they blend really well in 3 part harmony. My only criticism is that these two sisters are a little too showy. They are constantly pulling my eye with their hokey dance moves. Its kinda like being at a bad latina bar and watching the girls dance. I wish they would chill and just sing. Basia should be the focus but they literally have moves for every song - its annoying to be frank.

Basia voice was just as strong as when she burst onto the scene in the US with Time and Tide almost 25 years ago. Her back-up singers were amazing and her partner in crime from the beginning, Danny White, was on piano, Special guest was Danny's brother, famed guitarist Peter White. She was beautiful and talked and connected to the audience between songs.

What an amazing concert with Basia Saturday night - the venue was small and personal! Her voice is still smooth as if she just stepped out of recording "Time and Tide" for the first time! Her new material is great but the real pleasure is enjoying the best songs from the 80's!! Her range of vocals is such a pleasure and those in the band seem to really enjoy what their doing......love the new guitar player from Italy and drummer is amazing - and of course her back up singers are as good as ever! Sax man gets the music soulful and lively.......it was a great evening, not as slick as past performances, i.e. Matt Bianco, but more like "Basia Unplugged" - really down to earth performance and as fresh as ever.....we loved the whole event! Thanks for being there Basia and group - you're still the best in our book of great performers!!!

The last time I saw her was in the 90's when she was on broadway. She still sounds just like she did back then. I loved her band. BBKings ran out of wine glasses with in one hour of opening it's doors at 6PM....management needs to get their act together. They need to color code reserved tables so they stand out more when guests are looking for available spots.

The music for this show was AMAZING... However; it was WAY WAY WAY too loud for the venue at the Birchmere. Everyone in my party had the same feeling - such a shame that such great music was blared at a level that was just way too high.

Wow!! Fantastic concert by a outstanding voice and artist. Band was great. I've been a fan for over twenty five years. We have all aged however, Basia's voice. like a fine wine has improved over the years. Her song slections off her many albums seemed to creshedo to a puslating climax. The audience was in a frenzy and Basia and the band seemed to feed off theiir enthusiasm. What a memorable night. She didn't sing all my favorites but, after all she did sing for well over 90 minutes. The close setting at the BB King theater allowed for a up close up and personal atmosphere.

We never saw her in person though we've played her music since she came on the scene in the late 80's. Everyone on stage did a great job, and their enthusiasm was really evident. Basia mixed enough new and old standards to keep everyone engaged. They still have it over 20 years later. Never been to BBKIngs before. Disappointed that we got there at 5:40 PM for an 8PM show, were about the 6th couple on line, and when we arrived inside to have dinner all of the good seating was taken already or reserved for "friends of the band, or relatives of the owners.' Utter nonsense! We sat in the row in front of the bar one table from the end. The food also leaves something to be desired. Fortunately the sound was pretty good.

Love Basia, she's a real talent, but she brought her own sound crew and it was soo painfully loud that it drowned her out completely. I saw more than a few audience members using earplugs and covering their ears. Really a shame! I had to leave my excellent paid seats near the stage and stand at the back of the room to tolerate the sound.

The show brought my wife and I back to the 80's. Basia played all our favorite songs and her energy for the 1:30 set was amazing. The back-up singers and the entire band were great as well. It was our first time at BB Kings and after being sat-down in very close proximity with complete strangers, we were thinking the night would go South. We ended up sitting with 3 fun couples which only made the event even more fun. A bunch of true Basia-fans having a wonderful evening. Oh, the food was pretty good to at a very reasonable prices.

A most enjoyable evening. Basia's voice was fantastic as was that of the twin back up vocalist . The band also cooked which made for an outstanding show. The brazilian bossa nova beat to many of her songs had the audience swaying in their seats. We need to see her more in the tri-state area.

I was very pleased to hear Basia sound just as good as years ago when I first saw her perform at the Chicago theatre. She put new spins to old songs and her new songs have spunk. I bought her newest cd and highly recommend it. On the other hand, I would not recommend the venue. Even though it is nice inside it does not have enough seats for all the people they sell tickets to and they do not let you know so you can make an informed decision. Every time we tried to sit on an empty seat an employee would tell us we could not sit there. Two guys sat on the steps of one of the staircases but them too were told to get up. All House of Blues cared about was collecting the admission money and selling as many drinks as possible but other than that we were treated like cattle.

I went to the House of Blues with my husband on Sept 10, 2011. Basia's concert was Great !!!!!. BUT the seating arrangement was Horrendous at House of Blues. If you have general seating that means you STAND up stairs behind the front tables, around the second set of tables, in front of the bar, where you can only see the screen, NOT THE STAGE. Every one around us was very upset and complaining all night. What was I paying for, If I wanted to see a screen I would have gone to the movies. House of Blues get a clue, we came to see a Basia not to look at a movie screen.

After 20 years of suspense--i was NOT disappointed to hear one of the most beatiful voices in person. Basia still has it--her voice was crystal clear, her energy was vibrant and her stage presence was very inviting. I felt like I was A VIP last night having the show of a lifte time, the best kept secret and rare privilige of attending a very private jam session at Club Nokia by way of Basia. I can't wait for her follow up tour. I certianly hope she's willing to share herself with the West Coast again. Judging by the crowd last night, Basia has a strong underground following of a varied kind but nevertheless, romantics of the world united and supported our dear Polish Princess. I enjoyed when we gave her a standing ovation and she shed a tear. It was an intimate moment for all.WE LOVE YOU BASIA--YOU ROCK! DOBRANOC!

Basia sang one Basia standard after another. All upbeat, all one amazing love song after another. I'll admit to being a Basia fan, and was unabashedly able to sing along with each song. Another person sitting near us said at the beginning of the show, "Oh, I know her, just not well," and at the end exclaimed, "I knew over 10 songs!!" Basia puts on a simple show from a set perspective, it's her and her group. This show is enjoyable to romantics everywhere.

It was such a treat to finally see Basia in concert at last! I've loved her music since "Time and Tide" and when she paused her career in the mid-90's I thought I'd missed the chance forever. She was a great performer, connected intimately with the audience, and her voice is as good as ever -- maybe better. The songs from her lastest album were even better in person and there were enough of her older favorites to please everyone. Danny White was excellent, the backup singing twins superb and the rest of the ensemble perfect. I hope the enthusiastic reaction from the Boston crowd will help inspire a return performance in the future. My wife and I are still hearing her songs in our minds more than a day later, which says a lot about how great this show was.

We had never seen Basia perform before this concert, we only had one Basia CD and decided to attend the concert just sort-of out of curiosity, having heard nothing about her. To say we were happily suprised would be a major understatement! This was one of the best concerts I have ever attended, and that's saying something: in my 50-some years, I've attended many, many concerts, often with top-named bands ( mostly various types of rock or blues, some jazz). Basia and her band were excellent. Her singing, and that of her (twin) backup singers, was wonderful. (Basia has an unbelievable vocal range). Her very-talented band was spot-on all night, truly professional musicians who seem to handle Basia's unusual and sometimes difficult songs with ease and enthusiasm. When they settle in to one of their trademark samba rhythms, the whole place just rocks, and it's impossible to just sit still. But Basia herself is the best part of this concert. All during the performance she truly seems to be having a wonderful time, laughing, giggling, and honestly loving and appreciating the music, her band, and the audience. I don't know if I've ever seen a performer having such a great time playing their music. Basia is having way too much fun! And her enthusiasm for the music, and performing it, is totally infectious!! Before long, everyone in the building, musicians and audience, are "connected" together, bonded by excellent music being wonderfully played, and infected by Basia's unbridled enthusiasm (and, of course, I mean this in a good way!!). I can't remember a concert being this entertaining, just downright fun, in a long time, if ever. And, judging by the response of everyone that I saw in the audience, the feeling was mutual. I will definitely be watching for Basia & band to return to the Portland area. I wouldn't want to miss such a wonderful evening of great music, fantastic singers and musicians, and just plain FUN!!

We had tickets to see Basia about 17 years ago in Portland. To our great disappointment, that show was canceled due to slow ticket sales. We were thrilled when we heard she was coming this year, and bought tickets right away. We were so glad we did! The warmth and optimism that Basia somehow always manages to project through her recordings and videos comes through even more strongly in person. She just really seems to be a radiantly happy, gracious and positive person. She was having so much fun on stage, it was positively contagious, and the typical hipper-than-thou, too-cool-to-show-emotion Portland audience finally had to cave in and start grooving. Basia's voice is lovelier than ever. The years have taken off that occasionally strident edge, leaving a mellow, resonant instrument. And she wields this instrument masterfully. All the members of her band are impeccable musicians. The songs were not performed by four instrumentalists, a lead singer and two backup singers -- they were played by one tightly honed unit. The set list was a delightful mix of old and new tunes. Some of the earlier ones have been updated, with the synth-heavy '80s sound stripped off. In general, the performances were faithful to the recorded versions, with one notable exception. "Drunk on Love" is one of my all-time favorite songs by anybody. To me, the arrangement of the original recording are about as close to perfection as you can get. I especially enjoy its steady, almost loping mid-tempo groove, supplied by Danny White's piano line and the drums. For some reason, the live performance had the drummer playing a sort of shuffly double-time rhythm. The rest of the arrangement was the same, but it was made kind of tiringly hyperactive by that change of rhythm. This was my only real disappointment.

This venue, this location , this artist was FABULOUS I was expecting to see Basia in the large Nokia Theater but foound that she was in the club this was the best Concert I have been to all year.. She was whitty, Fun, Upbeat, Sang better than ever, The location was so personal that it made it like Basia was one of my friends I have 3row seating not like that matter because the club is so intimate that it was up close and personal, Basia sang for the crowd, sang with the crowd, shook hands while on stage danced and invited the crowd to dance. Phenominal! I saw Sade and thought her concert was great, but given the choice, I would go to Basia a 2nd time around..

I don't know if it was done by design/desire or just poorly executed, but Basia's singing was hardly recognizable on the background of the band. She could have done a fantastic program if she sang with one or two band players at a time - say, with a guitar, or with saxophone, or keyboard. Speaking of music.... Several people I talked to after the show wished she stuck to Latin American classics instead.

Basia is a class act.. the venue was fantastic. However, she did not have a bass player. the guitarist played bass and would switch to guitar. And she did not have a full brass section, just a Sax player that was a bit timid in his playing. I hate to say anything negative about her. She still sings amazing and I hope that she returns to touring with her full band.... I love her!

I can watch Basia's concert over and over again. Words are not enough to describe what I felt in every song she sang. Unexplanable. It was just amazing! Love it!

Saw Basia in September 2011 at Club Nokia. It was a perfect venue -- small and intimate. She was 100% connected to her audience, sounded even better than in her recordings, and played all of the classics you'd want to hear. She seems to come to L.A. regularly so if you miss her this time try to catch the show next time.

I enjoyed the older songs and feeling nostalgic. What I did not like was that the show started one houre later!!! This would have been okay if there was a meet & greet situation, but that was not the case!? I guess, they wanted to sell some if those $10 drinks!! Which I did not buy. But that is not in Basia's control!

It is amazing to me how many people I talked to who do not know who Basia is. I do... Basia was very good. I had never seen her perform live before and I really enjoyed the show. She played all the songs I wanted to here, and then some. Bringing out Peter White, who used to be her studio guitarist was a nice surprise. Club Nokia is a very intimate environment and it worked very well for Basia. Her range is still really good. My friend, who did not know who Basia was, really enjoyed the show as well.

Wonderful concert. Always enjoyed Basia. She seems down to earth and communicates with audience well. Very likeable lady. Love the band and back-up singers. Great harmonizing. She makes you want to get up and dance all through the concert. It was my second concert with her and won't be my last. When I received a notice she was going to be in town, I was able to get great seats at great prices. I just hope she doesn't raise her prices.

The sound could have been adjusted to hear Basia better; her backup singers were just as loud as she was and EVERYONE in the band was too loud. The volume decreased the quality I felt. She also only played/sang for less that 1.5 hours. Too short in my opinion.

Basia, great sound, amazing voice, wonderful songs -- however for a band of this caliber, the visuals are not at a respectable level. When one pays that much money and fights DC rush hour traffic in the rain, the show should be professional in every aspect, and I"m sorry Basia, but the choice of clothing, the choreography, the band presence was not there! Why not choose some beautiful flowing dynamic clothing for you three strong powerful, and lovely women? And why does your band seem to fade away back there? The choreography seemed like middle school. You can do better! Please do!! I thought that maybe your luggage had gotten lost on the airplane, however I then saw your bus and knew that it was a choice -- my advice is to make a different one.

What a wonderful artist! Of course I was familiar with her music, but I couldn't have imagined the energy, enthusiasm and sincerity of Basia. It seemed like she stepped onto stage from my living room sofa and started singing a wonderful conversation. Seamless performance and the band was incredibly masterful in their delivery as well. I loved every second of it and she seemed to as well. Wish that the DC crowd didn't hold their enthusiasm til the end, but I guess that's a 'mature' crowd for you. :) Will definitely look to see her again!

I was truly blown away! This was the first time I have ever seen her and I've been a HUGE fan since the 80's!!!! The show stated late but we found out her tour bus had broken down and they were at the roadside for 8 or 9 hours before being "rescued" and drove straight in to town after that ordeal to jump on stage and give a really amazing show. Basia's voice is just like her albums over 20 years ago. The band and backup singers (twins to boot) were first class. She had a great opening act from Sao Paulo Brazil and at the end we were all up out of our seats with multiple standing ovations and cheers and not wanting the show to be over! It was a real treat! Im still smiling days later!

I would recommend her music to anyone (especially in concert)! The ONLY distraction to an otherwise perfect evening was the facility - Variety Playhouse. For a show scheduled to open at 8:00 p.m., we stood outside until AFTER 8 which delayed the start time for the featured act. Later we learned that Basia's bus had problems which caused her to be late. But the folks at the Variety should have simply sent someone outside to explain the delay. Due to the delayed start, the concert ran much longer than originally planned; but unfortunately we had to depart before she ended because it was a week night and as it was we would not be able to make it home until after midnight.

I have been a fan of Basia since 1988 and she did not dissappoint!. Her voice is as good as it was 20+ years ago. It was so much fun being with an audience that are as passionate about her as I countinue to be and at the Variety Playhouse which is a great, intimate setting! Her band is great and her background singers were wonderful. I liked the new stuff and was so glad that she sang the "old" stuff as well. I went away hearing all but one of my favorites -- often times artists want to only sing their new songs, but not here. Fabulous! Fabulous! Fabulous! I want to see her again, soon.

The first thing you notice is that the audience consist of people 40+. In conversations while waiting outside for over an hour, we all shared tidbits of songs we knew and the memories they brought back. Her voice, the band and singers were phenomenal! It isnot often that you see performers who have maintained their voices in such clarity and distinction as she has. If you get the chance, don't miss it ..... MEMORABLE!

Her bus broke down and they waited 9 hours for the repair on their way from St. Louis, Mo. to Atlanta, GA the day of the performance and she and her group were excellent and so full of positve energy. She is a very gracious performer and you can feel her energy in her songs. The Brazian guitarist that opened for her was great. The crowd loved her performance and was constantly clapping after many of the songs and were standing up dancing during the last part of her concert. I liked the changes she made to her older songs to "jazz them up" !!!

I've now seen Basia in concert 4 times (3 times lucky!). At 56, she still has an amazing voice with the 3 octave range, and lots of energy! This, even after being stuck on her tour bus for 8 hours on the drive to Atlanta after it broke down! A true professional, she is. And still a stellar entertainer. She focused her show mostly on her classics, her hits, and the crowd loved it. But she was able to sprinkle in a few surprises as well. She and her band and background vocalists put on a terrific show for two+ hours. Plus an encore. No one left dissatisfied. I always say if you can close your eyes and the sounds you hear are like that of your favorite CD, the performance is awesome. And it was! My *only* complaint is that I wish she traveled with the FULL band (second keyboardist, trumpet, trombone, xylaphone, and strings) to give us the total experience. But short of that, the show was perfection!

I've been a fan since 1988 (Time and Tide)! I have been fortunate enough to be at all of her Atlanta's concert since then. This was the second concert I've taken my daughter with me. Her first live concert ever was Basia's 6 years ago, when she was just 11! She is 17 now, and we think she was the youngest "fan" at the concert, but she didn't care. She loves Basia and her music! All concerts have been great, but this one was truly incredible and unforgettable! We waited for a while....but as soon as she hit the stage, she welcomed the crowd, thanked us for our patience and sincerely apologized for the wait - explaining that their bus broke down on the way down to Atlanta and they were stuck on the road for 9 hours!!!! They almost didn't make it! I think everybody there would have waited all night if they had too...it didn't matter! Through out the concert, I kept thinking, how does she get this much energy, this much voice and stamina, after been stuck on the side of the road for 9 hours?? She is truly an awesome person, an incredibly talented artist and singer! Her partnership with Danny (sweet Danny) brings us some of the best music in the planet! Music that is "easy" to listen to, easy to dance to, easy to love! Rich in rhythm, melody and meaningful lyrics! From swing to Samba, she does it all ! Basia's stage presence is stunning....She is genuinely beautiful, vibrant, funny! And so appreciative of her fans! The band was incredible, and the back-up singers simply the best! Can't wait for next concert. Hopefully it won't take 6 more years this time!

It was an electric evening for a packed House; Basia with her four musicians and two back up singers were on fire all night long. They mixed the set with classic hits like Time & Tide, Promises, Half a Minute, and Yearning along with new hits like "If not now then When" and the awesome new one "I Must". Basia connected with the audience demonstrating her passion for entertaining and for the love of her fans and her home country of Poland. The band, including Danny White, was HOT styling tunes that sounded like a 12 piece band. This is only the second time I have seen her perform and she is flawless with an octave range amongst the best, her voice becomes another instrument for many of the songs. She referenced her own time spent in Chicago when she was with another band from years ago and you could see there was a real connection, she was having fun. I highly recommend this entertainer Basia for an electric evening of energy, love and great music!

Although Basia didn't look as cool as she did 26 years ago when I first heard her live in Washington, D.C. her voice, band, songs and presence were as beautifully strong as ever. She is still the quintessential jazz/new age singer. I love her to pieces. What a great performance, especially after 26 years.

I've seen Basia every time she has come to Chicago -- which is just a few times, in the last two decades. This show ... the joy in her face ... she is age 33, again. She so loves these songs, and so enjoys singing them ... I was giddy, watching someone have that much FUN. I know every note, and she sang every one of them -- perfect tuning, there was not a single note that was not delivered with the highest level of musicianship. Her voice is as clear as it was in 1987, and the tight harmonies that she and Danny White orchestrated were beautifully and joyfully executed by her backup singers, twin sisters Annick and Veronique Clarisse. Brava!
