I saw Zeppelin in '69 in a venue about this size and, since then, I haven't seen anything that compares. And of course it's not 'apples to apples', but the excitement, and level of profeciency that these guys exhude, is. What's BETTER about these guys is a certain element of personality that beams thru, Justin is more than just a great voice and frontman (and guiartist - who can REALLY play), he's really fun and keeps you captivated from start to finish. Dan has chops that are really on-par with the greats, bluesy- meaningful solos, KNOWS how to play rhythm without blur, Frankie is concrete solid on bass(I wish he'd play a Fender though, it would just sound better..) and Ed is a hard-hitter with fills that are so well placed and never self-serving. I wish they played more tunes from the 2nd Lp but am not dissapointed in the selection of the set list as it was a good balance of old and new. Great show guys! Can't wait til you come back to LA!

Now that I've had a couple of days to really reflect back on what transpired that fateful night in T5, on a lovely Sunday evening in NYC, I can recount objectively as to how my simple mind and tiny ear drums exploded when the Darkness came on. The boys ripped through the hits of all three albums with finesse and mad guitar skills from the brothers Hawkins. While Justin's both chizzled and thoroughly inked torso strutted across the stage, my body was attacked by the pounding drums of Eddie and the bass beats of Frankie. Sadly, the night ended way too early as Love on the Rocks could've lasted another 20 or 30 mins (minus that creepy guy), easily. This was my second show in NYC, didn't think they could've top the that second Irving Plaza night last winter, but the boys surely delivered, and then some. I would see them again and again if I can, so you should too if they ever roll into your town! If they are the keepers of Rock'n'roll, then we can put our children to bed safely at night.

It was short notice being invited to show, but getting the ticket was easy. We were greated and directed with smiles as soon as we got to the venue and from sound check to encore the show was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! The opening acts The Sweathearts and the Dirty Pearls were a perfect fit and easily got everyone in the mood for some great Rock. You could see the stage from any angle and bathrooms were easily accessible. Even after these two bands preformed they were everywhere chatting with the crowd or enjoying the other bands performance. As soon as The Darkness came out the energy in the room intensified. They rocked the stage like real pros ready for a rowdy night. At the end they did 3 encore songs, making the last one as long as possible and no one could complain that the show was over.

This show was absolutely amazing overall. The first band Sweatheart was quirky and really funny but they pulled off their look and sound great. The had an 80's type of Pop Rock sound but had great lyrics and a solid keyboardist (literally). The Dirty Pearls had a great Hard Rock sound and it was nice seeing a hometown band kick major ass at the show. They had all types of rock and roll genres in the band and had a solid sound that had good bass, heavy drums, hard riffs, and vocals that were easy to sing along with. The Darkness hit the stage with Every Inch of You and never stopped rocking until the end of the show. Justin was witty with the crowd and the fan interaction was amazing, until the end of the show. There was this really stupid guy that was brought up on stage that wanted to be bigger than The Darkness themselves. It got annoying and you could tell that the guys in the band were getting frustrated. He killed the mood of the finish but still didn't hurt how the rest of the show was.

This is my 3rd time seeing The Darkness and I keep coming back for more. Their music is tailormade to be played live and the entire band's high energy stage show shines. Frontman Justin Hawkins is in a league of his own when it comes to modern rock entertainers--Freddie Mercury meets Robert Plant with the firm tongue-in-cheek attitude (and splits) of David Lee Roth, plus some serious guitar skills to boot. His lyrics boast "I've got the whole arena eating out of my hand" and he's not wrong.

The Darkness came out with incredible energy that did not stop once. Each song was better than the next. The band's athleticism was apparent, especially Justin, who I hardly could tear my eyes away from. The band is so tight. They sounded so good, maybe better than their recordings! They can do no wrong. The venue was really nice too. You could choose to be in the crush of people on the floor in front of the stage, or watch from a balcony. The drink selection was excellent, and not overpriced. Everyone there was in a great mood and I honestly had the best time at this show!! Pure, unadulterated, rock and roll FUN.

My son and I have shared a love for rock since he was born. He figured out my "type" of music and would share bands with me to hear and see. I had a faint idea of who The Darkness was but wasn't too familiar with their music till my son called one day after seeing them in New Orleans to say "if The Darkness ever comes to town again, you HAVE to be there." So.... when I read about their Back to the USSA tour and saw that New Orleans was on the map, I did not hesitate to get the tickets the second they went on sale. WOW!!!! I was not disappointed. The energy oozed from the stage and the band drowned us all in their frenzy! Justin, Dan, Frankie and Rufus felt like long lost friends sharing their passion for entertainment through music. I can't wait to see them again

It does not get any better than this! I have been a Darkness fan since their early days in the UK, had the chance to see them at Knebworth and then smaller venues when I moved to the US. The Paradise in Boston, and the House of Blues. This band give you 200% every show, Justin was born to be the Front man. His stage presence is fabulous to watch, his energy, little quirky sense of humor in his performance, surfing the crowd, when he jumps off the flipping balcony and my heart is in my throat because I don't want him to get hurt. Other Darkness members include Justin's brother Dan, a phenomenal guitar player like his brother, the energy on stage will want you begging for more after nearly 2 hours! Frankie, well, Frankie is just a God among bass players! And when he goes to hit that cow bell, you know what I mean Ladies, we are all clinging to his every move, waiting for that moment, just getting tingly thinking about it. ;) And Rufus, OMG Rufus, this lad is amazing. What a fabulous drummer, putting aside his famous Father, he is a fantastic drummer in his own right, and was made to be a part of this band! Then The Darkness have their VIP opportunities. This is the deal of a lifetime and is not to be missed, if you are an Army Member you will know what I mean. The Darkness Army and true supporters of the band and everything TD related. We have formed friendships and have become a close knit family through this amazing band, and I thank the lads form the bottom of my heart. If you have not had the up most pleasure or rocking out with The Darkness, do it, you will not regret it! I have only recently see them Nov 2015 and they are coming back to Boston in May 2016 before embarking on another album. That's dedication and supporting their fans right there! Thank you Justin, Dan, Frankie and Rufus, you guys mean more to me than you will every know, your music is in my life daily, thank you!

I traveled halfway across the country for this show. The Darkness is the BEST touring band around right now who is still making new music! Now on their 4th album entitled Last Of Our Kind (you got that right)), the band is in fine form thanks to new drummer Rufus Taylor. (But I still miss you, Ed!) I don't know what else to say but 1) Every song is a winner 2) Justin Hawkins is the best front man and lead guitarist in rock right now 3) Dan Hawkins is also guitar god 4) Frankie Poullain kicks bass! If you want to be entertained and listen to some seriously great rock 'n roll music where you still have singlalongs, clap alongs, the band dresses to impress, and the lead singer will literally do anything to get and keep your attention, as well as can sing and play his ass off, this is the band to see! I'd give them 100 stars but this only allows for 5. SEE THEM! and TELL YOUR FRIENDS!

The Darkness is the best band you will ever see, EVER - I'm not kidding - EVER. Guitar solos that will make you immediately soil your trousers. Singing that will make grown men weep and women surrender their first born. Drumming that will shake the very fibers of your soul and leave you an empty husk. Bass playing that will thunder in your ears all the rest of your days.

From the moment we step foot inside the venue, the piercing notes and pulsating rhythms originating from the rock gods sound check emanated through the bodies of eager fans. When Justin Hawkins, Dan Hawkins, Frankie Poullain, and Rufus Tiger Taylor stormed the stage, they floored the audience. Crowd attendees seeing The Darkness for the very first time looked on in awe as Justin jumped back and forth flawlessly between abyssmal bellows and angelic falsettos in the opening song, Barbaian (off of the newly released Last Of Our Kind - if you don't have it, get it: http://thedarkness.co.uk/). The guys shredded, and long-time devotees (yours truly) found themselves in complete bliss as the fellas rolled through their ever expanding catalog adding in songs from each of their four studio albums. If that wasn't enough, they also played a brand spanking new track called Rack of Glam, which is both classic Darkness and brutally perfect. There is not a band on the circuit today that so uniquely combines the immense talent, style, presence, humor, and delivery all wrapped into one beautifully perfect package as The Darkness do. Just when the show was thought to come to an end, they come back with a 3 song encore and ended with their signature grand finale. Frontman Justin Hawkins climbed onto the back of a lucky fan, who undoubtedly soiled himself with pleasure (yes, yes I did), with his white Les Paul custom and proceeded to ride chariot style through the crowd in an extended solo during Love On The Rocks. If this wasn't enough, meeting the guys before the show just adds to their credentials. They say never meet your idols, for fear of being let down or disappointed. To that I say, pick the right idols. Beyond humble, hilarious, and generous in both their time and their responses to fan questions. These guys should be the gold standard of how musicians should interact with their fans both on and off the stage. This marked the third time I saw these gentlemen live, which I quickly remedied on Halloween in Huntington to make that number four. Next time they come around you can bet I'll be there and if you're reading this I hope to see you there too. Bring a friend, I can guarantee you and s/he will not be disappointed.

The Darkness are pretty much the only band I feel is worth the time and effort, to crawl out of the house to see these days. They're that good, and may I add, satisfying. You leave feeling like you've just seen one of the most incredible shows, ever. And you feel this way, after every show. Never disappointed. Their skills as musicians, professionalism, and absolute grace, put them head and shoulders above the rest. Music today, is a sad state of affairs. Sad but true. Same rehash stuff on the radio, played ad nauseum. Gives me a headache. So, if you ever decide you want to be enlightened and see how real music should be done, GO SEE THE DARKNESS!!!!

The Darkness rocked Newport Music Hall. It was the first time I had seen them live. I was really surprised how well they sounded live, especially the vocals. With so many songs sung in falsetto, I was expecting to be disappointed. No such concerns. Justin Hawkins hit the high notes just like on the studio recordings. The band was tight and got the crowd rocking. They kept the crowd happy playing 10 of the 11 songs on their multi-platinum debut "Permission to Land . They played just two selections from "their second CD "One Way Ticket to Hell..." , including the songs "One Way Ticket" ( a highlight for me because of the cowbell intro, everyone needs more cowbell!) and "Hazel Eyes." They also performed the single "The Best of Me from 2004. The band seamlessly worked in 8 new songs from their most recent masterpiece their third cd entitled "Hot Cakes." The crowd really enjoyed "I Believe in A thing Called Love (of course!) and Get Your Hands Off My Woman. My favorites were "Friday Night" and "One Way Ticket." From my vantage point on the balcony above the left speaker, it was a great place to see and hear a show. My buddies and I had a great time.

The staff of Blogs N' Roses took the opportunity to see THE DARKNESS in Atlantic City at the House of Blues. This venue is very odd. It's your typical General Admission floor with a small balcony overlooking the General Admission and stage. But then picture a full General Admission area tacked on to the right side of the regular floor and that is where they serve beer and the artist sets up their table for merchandise. The venue is odd, but it still works and I have no idea how. I tried my hardest to figure out who was opening the show. I have strong GOOGLE-Fu to locate this information and yet, my repeated attempts came up empty. No one was talking about this opening band and the band was not promoting the fact they were opening for THE DARKNESS. Despite this fact, Hell Or Highwater still had a loyal fan base that knew they were going to be opening the show. I went into their set unspoiled by their recordings. I had never heard of them nor had I heard their music. The band is a mismash of personalities that works for them. You had Opie from Sons Of Anarchy on the rhythm guitar, you had a charismatic bass player (let me tell you how hard that is to find!), and a lead singer that didn't fit into the band, nor his pants. I didn't like the music. I thought there were your typical, generic radio pop rock that I have been trying to escape for years. It was an interesting choice because I don't think Hell on Highwater really fit with the style or genre THE DARKNESS have carved out. There was a fellow next to me who sang every word to every song. He was standing very close to the front and after the show ended him and his friend turned to me and said "You can have my spot." I asked, "Why are you leaving?" He said, "Yes, I only came to see that band." So they had their fans that really loved them. They just didn't convert me. THE DARKNESS hit the stage around 10:15 and played until 11:30. It was a casino so I understood the late timing. Had this show been in Philly, it would have to be over by 11, but I don't think Atlantic City has the stringent time rules. DAMN UNIONS! The band raised their banner to the Boys are Back in Town by THIN LIZZY and shortly after the banner was raised, the band took the stage. The first song they blasted in our faces like a Nick Manning cumshot was Every Inch of You. An inspired opening to let new and old fans alike they had returned. I had seen THE DARKNESS two times before - both at festival dates. I saw them shortly after Permission to Land was released and loved them. They did a lot of cheeseball 80's movements. Justin wore a one-piece (still does) and they hammed up the double movements on the guitars and had a lot of splits like David Lee Roth. Those are still there, but not with the frequency that they used to be. What exists now is a mature band that has used the 80's sound and style to propel themselves forward. Dan Hawkings sounds as hungry as ever on the guitar and his brother Justin's voice sounds no worse for wear considering his past drug history. He effortlessly hit the high notes. Black Shuck was the second song of the night and the song that provided the best entertainment. During the performance, Dan blew out the power on his side of the stage causing his guitar and equipment to go silent. That's when the frontman, Justin, took the time to share a story about a friend he knew from grade school that reached out to him. It's a hilarious story, but in case he tells it frequently on the road, I will keep it to myself. His comedic timing rivals Russell Brand's and he kept our eyes focused on him while the roadies scurried about on stage to fix the issue. Once it was fixed, THE DARKNESS ripped right back into the song as if nothing had happened. They picked up at the exact note they lost due to the sound error. Showcasing the tightness of the band and how well rehearsed they are. I can't recommend the band highly enough. The show was a blistering good time that once the band took the stage, captivated and held your attention, even through the power outage. The setlist pulls a lot from Permission to Land and sprinkles in Hot Cakes and One Way Ticket. They even did a great cover of RADIOHEAD's Street Spirit. The crowd was slightly older than I thought it would be, but I am going to chalk that up to Atlantic City. But the old guys were right in the heart of the mosh pit and really having a great time and you can't ask for too much more than that.

I kid you not. This was the BEST rock n roll show I have seen in a VERY long time. This DARKNESS reunion tour is not to be missed. These guys are incredibly tight on stage....and every song was a winner. If you like a mix of heavy guitars, pop rock, and superior lead vocals,....THE DARKNESS is for you. The sound at House of Blues was great. I really like seeing shows here. Standing on floor is always best....I like it better than sitting in balcony. Opening act was very strong: "Hell or Highwater".

If you want to see a band that rolls up Queen, Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, and AC/DC into a perfect package, go see the Darkness. Justin's screaming high vocals are incredible and the guitar work is stellar. The whole band is super tight and even the banter is great. I saw them back in '06 and once I heard they were back together in 2011 I couldn't wait for them to come back to the states. GO SEE THIS BAND!

The Darkness show at Hard Rock Orlando was GREAT!!!! My wife and I both loved it. If you are tired of, winey, depressing, slow and boring so called "Rock" music, the Darkness is for you. The musicianship is top notch, the lyrics are smart but not "deep" the vocals are spectacular (imagine, a rock singer who actually sings). I would say there music is a mix of Queen , Thin Lizzy, and Zepplin with a little AC/DC thrown in. And these guys are showmen, they just have "IT". No Pyro necessary for these guys just awesome stage presence and a true connection with the crowd. For the real Darkness fans it was an event long awaited and for those who were just at Universal and decided to check out this band it was a real treat and eye opener. I saw there faces and spoke with some of them, they are fans now. In a nutshell these guys are a great band that know how to have fun and don't take themselves too seriously. The only bad thing was the lack of promotion on so called rock radio. If it wasn't for Facebook we never would have known about the show. These guys sell out arenas in Europe and in America they cant sell out the Hard Rock.

The Darkness do arena rock style shows better than any band I've ever seen. The band was superb. The Darkness have so many great songs, that it's impossible for their setlist to be long enough. I wish the band had pulled more from their second and third albums!

Where do I even begin to say how amazing The Darkness is live. They put on such a great and unforgettable show. I swear everytime they perform, they just get better and better. I just wish they would have more shows in LA/OC area than just once a year! The Darkness performed their new songs but it does not get any better than playing songs from their Permission to Land album. Pure bliss awesomeness in so many epic proportions!

Best live music I've ever seen. So glad they've been my favorite band for 10 years. Tons of character, humor in between songs, randos invited on stage, what more could you ask for? Saw them twice in the last year, and in no way is that depressing.

One of the best shows I ve ever seen! So much fun. At this venue, you can get right into the show and they really interact with the audience. I felt like part of the show. The opening band, Diarrhea Planet, really rocked the place. I don t know how they aren t incredible superstars by now. Just a quick note on the venue, The Underground at The Filmore in Charlotte NC - great but a little confusing for a first- time visitor. There are several venues all next to each other with multiple shows going on at the same time. Get there a bit early the first time to get your bearings and also make sure that you are in the right line: the right building and VIP or general. There weren t a lot of helpful signs but god, did I love this show. Waited years to see The Darkness and was definitely worth it.

First time at The Underground venue. As soon as the opening band Diarrhea Planet came on we could tell the sound was off. Not only was it almost too loud but it was echoing and crackling. Unfortunately the kinks were not worked out before The Darkness took the stage. Both bands performed well and Justin Hawkins was hella charming and entertaining. However, since we were unable to find a good spot where we could see but also not have our eardrums bleed, we sadly ended up leaving mid-show. I've never left a show early but this was too much to suffer through just to hear a few of our favorite songs.

If you like your dish of rock served with bombastic swagger, wardrobe changes, epic musicianship and showmanship, finely crafted songwriting and FUN, this show is for you! The Darkness ended their Back to the USSA Tour 2016 on a high note at the Paradise, complete with an interpretive dance number by Mr. Mark Jones during "English Country Garden." Frontman Justin Hawkins, after his customary guitar solo on the crew member's shoulders, also did a swan dive into the audience from the balcony, surfed the crowd for awhile before returning to his rightful place on the stage during the 15-minute closer, Love On The Rocks With No Ice. America needs more bands like The Darkness. Hell, the whole world does. I personally can't wait for their new as yet unrecorded album and really look forward to another U.S. tour!

See the Darkness and you will wonder afterwards why any other hard rock band even bothers. Their front man is like an amalgamation of Freddie Mercury and Eddie Van Halen living in the same body. They lay it down heavy and hard, but with pleasing melodies and lots of humor to balance out the vocal and instrumental histrionics. And again, the front man -- one Justin Hawkins -- is an unbelievably dedicated and energetic performer. This band has mastered all the pop-metal hair band shtick in fine detail and renders their performance as an homage to everything that is great and wonderful, pulse-racing and life affirming about Rock. God bless the Darkness.

If you love "The Robot" dance move, you'll love The Darkness live! The first song was "Every Inch of You". As the the guitar solo started in "Black Shuck", Dan's guitar went out completely. This was a true Spinal Tap moment. I loved it! Was this staged?? Probably not. Justin says "Dan, do you want to use my guitar? My guitar works." and other hilarious ad libs. Then Justin was forced to tell a story about receiving an e-mail from an old flame. The problem was fixed and "ok, from the solo". Justin seemed genuinely pissed but, I love that stuff. Not long after, Dan's guitar strap popped off his guitar. He kept trying to play as his guitar was falling down "Doink, plink, klonk!". HILARIOUS!! Comedy is sprinkled throughout the show, some intentional, some not. I love it. There was never a dull moment in the entire show. Including the Karate Kid tribute at the end....I'll leave it at that. The performance of the music, overall, I thought was great. Justin's voice seemed a bit weak on "Get Your Hands Off My Woman..." and "Givin' Up" (one of my faves :-( ) but his vocal performances of " I Believe in a Thing Called Love" and especially Radiohead's "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" were breath-takingly AMAZING. Don't know what happened there. Cool moment #107: They went into "Stuck In A Rut" right after "Givin' Up", just like on the album!! Lowlights: Although they did every song off "Permission To Land" except "Holding My Own" I was a bit upset they did, with extreme precision, the songs I HATE from the 2nd album: the title track, One Way Ticket... and Hazel Eyes. The only one they missed was the stinker "Knockers". Guys, "Is It Just Me?" & "Dinner Lady Arms" are waaaay better songs to do, don't worry about the multi-tracked vocals being absent. Drop those 2 songs, PLEASE!! I was surprised they didn't find room for "Love Is Not The Answer". And I can't remember if they did "Everybody Have A Good Time" or not. So, overall, it was a great show. A great rock band that doesn't take itself too seriously. Justin is a REAL frontman, a great performer. If you love Rock, you gotta see these guys. The opening act, Hell or High Water, was impressive. It's not quite the stuff I listen to (I call it Happy-Emo-Metal) but, the band was great and the vocalist has a SUPER-powerful voice and great sense of humor. He was getting heckled by morons here and there and handled it well. Check 'em out.

I have seen many concerts, but this one tops them all. It's even better than the last time they were here. Justin Hawkins really engaged the audience by crowd surfing (twice), jumping off balconies, and generally just being a cool British dude. To top it off, Hell or Highwater, the opening act, was pretty decent, which is not always the case with opening acts.

The Darkness put on the greatest show I've ever seen - Justin Hawkins is still as incredible as ever 10 years after the band's first album. Interacting with the crowd as he's known to do and having a bouncer walk him around on his shoulders during the final encore of "Love on the Rocks" killed it!! It's a bummer that they probably won't be around to tour the US again anytime soon but it'll be hard for any show to live up to this one.

Justin jumping from the second level into the arms of the crowd, going for a piggy back ride on Dan's back. There was never a dull moment. I've wanted to see The Darkness for about 10 years. Back then they hardly ever came to the US and if they did, it was very expensive. Then they broke up for awhile and I was devastated, thought I'd never see them again. When I found out they were back together and then playing in Orlando, I freaked. The show was unforgettable.
