Paco, the all time master, brought the thunder as he rocked the house with a fantastic backing band and a flamenco dancer who unleashed the tap dancing fury.

Everything was excellent about the concert and the venue - except for the concession prices. Complete rip-off. $11 for a mixed drink in a plastic cup? Are you kidding me? Gimme a break.

Just because it's Paco doesn't mean I'm going to rave about his show. It seems like some people will give him a standing ovation for just coming out and breathing on stage. I've seen Paco many times over the years and this was not one of his better shows. What may have contributed to the way I feel is the sound really sucked where I was seated. Paco's guitar was drowned out by the percussion to the point I could not hear the details of what he was playing. It was muffled and mid rangy which left me feeling disconnected from his performance. When Paco's supporting guitarist took a a couple of short solos I could hear his guitar much better than Paco's. That is unacceptable. It would be nice if Paco worked up a new ending for his show because he has been finishing his concerts with the same tune for like 15 years. I don't think I will be paying $90 to see his show again. I would love to see Vicente Amigo or Tomatito perform here.

I went to see Paco 5 years ago at the Arsht Center in Miami. Five years later, he again put on a great performance, as well as he fellow musicians, cantaores and dancer. My wife and I were very pleased with the performance. The thing that I did not like (nor my wife) was the way the attendants behaved. The Jackie Gleason facilities are great (except maybe they need a few more urinals). However, they did a few things wrong. 1) They started the show over 25 minutes late. This was probably due to the undisciplined local attendants who are always the last to arrive and the first to leave. 2) They allowed people into the theater after the 8pm showtime, and even 30 minutes into the late start of the performance people were still arriving to sit for the first time. 3) They allowed drinks (beer, wine, etc.) into the theater. 4) They allowed people to get up to get more drinks and return to their seats during the performance. I am sorry, but this was not a sports event and there should have been more order enforced upon the attendants. Even in Spain they do not allow people to leave their seats during a bullfight. I know, this was Miami. The guy sitting next to us was drinking 16 oz cans of Heineken when we arrrived; and after a few beers, he left his seat before the show even started, and did not return. Next time I will drive or fly to a different city to see Paco. I should have gone to Boston, instead. I would rate the performance with 5 Stars, but due to the other problems with the lack of control of the attendants, I am giving an overall rating of 3 Stars.

The event was excellent! His performance was as always breath taking. The flamenco dancer was unbelievable. It took me back to Spain where I last saw him perform. Started 20 minutes late.

Paco and his group played nonstop for 2 hours and had me on the edge of my seat the entire program (partly so I could see around the person in front of me). I had binoculars so was able to appreciate the expressions on the faces of the amazing, passionate singers and the fabulous dancer. The harmonica player was great too. The audio was fine, even in the upper balcony. The seats were packed in and leg room was limited but otherwise the seating was comfortable. Latecomers were annoying as usual but the audience was respectful and appreciative. Standing ovation lasted 5 minutes at least in order to plead for an encore. Parking was tight but we were able to get a place for the premium $10 two blocks away in a private lot. This was a sellout with 3000 people, more people packed together than on a cruise liner. Bathroom lines were long at the end of the performance and drinks a bit pricey for beer, wine and champagne (and $3.00 water); no food or beverages allowed from outside. The theatre itself is gorgeous and worth a look. Overall fabulous evening and worth the money.

Musically, this was fantastic, but it would have been more enjoyable had they not double sold my seats at the venue such that we missed the first song. Paco De Lucia is an incredible musician.

It was a must watch show. Really enjoyed it. Paco worked his magic on the audience as usual. The dancer was a nice surprise. Very well executed performance. However, the organization in the theater was below expectations. Just before the start of the show, there were long lines in the aisle entrances and everybody was getting in from behind without respecting the line priority. That there was nobody to enforce order, did not help as well. It was quite chaotic. Hopefully, the organizers will work out a better solution to make it an enjoyable experience in the future. Having said that, once Paco started playing, I forgot everything.....:)

From the moment when he started a solo till the end of the concert with all the musicians and chorus, it was an amazing experience. The repertory was very well selected and Paco still plays as the Master he is. You should be proud of bringing this type of artists in such a nice place to perform, not only for money but for enriching culturally, our society.

This was a superb performance but for my taste Paco was at his best when staying closest to his Andalusian roots. At times, the 8-piece ensemble with synthesizer and harmonica came perilously close to 'hotel fusion' background music. The extraordinary power of the guitar, the vocals and the dancing in a purer flamenco idiom were by far the most powerful. Also the percussion, particularly the syncopated handclapping, was brilliant - in the original meaning of that term. My bottom line is that this was definitely worth seeing but for more for the authentic numbers than the more synthetic stuff that I could have done without.

One of the best concerts I have ever seen. Paco is a true master of his instrument and his medium of flamenco. He blends finesse and musicality with incredible technique. His ensemble is also world class, very exciting and all masters in their own respect.

Not that the show was bad, but I expected more from maybe the best flamenco guitarist in the world. The music was almost a bit monotonous at times, and we didn't hear much of Paco playing by himself -- it would be nice if he were more selfish. The flamenco dancer was amazing and stole the show completely

Flamenquito
Paco de Lucia's concert at the Boston Opera House lived up to my highest of expectations! I have heard his last recording (Spain 2011 Tour concerts) many times and yet the same material, which he performed with a few variations, was fresh and powerful! I have attended five or six of Paco's concerts (one in Spain and five here in the US) over the years. Paco remains a force to reckon with in ANY genre of guitar playing. In Flamenco, there is no question that he is and remains the best Flamenco guitarist of all time, by far (and that is no easy task, considering the likes of Sabicas, Mario Escudero, Nino Ricardo, Diego del Gastor, etc.). But among the best guitarists in the world, Paco is just far too unique and special--his musicality and creative genius, his technique, and his great sensibility with the instrument and nuances of Flamenco guitar music is outstanding. Paco is now playing comfortable with himself and his legacy in Flamenco music; he is "settled" and "well-cooked" which means we are hearing the best of him in his "older years" (sorry Paco!). His playing is full of conviction, expressive, and nuanced. His ensemble is just phenomenal; great choice of artists:Duquende, who remains majestic in his "cante," David de Jacoba the young singing talent, Farruquito the young dance phenom, and the other instrumentalists, including Antonio Sanchez (guitarist), Alain Perez (bass), El Pirana (cajon), and Antonio Serrano (harmonica). They all complemented each other well and showed great versatility, musicianship, and tecnical skill in the solos. The best part for me--hugging Paco as he left the concert hall...he is sublime and kind soul, genuine and warm in personality. What an honor to have shared a few words with this great legend of the guitar!

I have known about Paco de Lucia for many years, but I had never had the pleasure of watching him live. He and his amazing group of talented musical companions made the evening a spectacular and unforgettable one. The complexity of the melodies and the flawless execution, mixed with a wonderful dose of passion, made me walk out of the concert feeling that my expectations had been exceeded, and that I would love to see him/them again. Paco de Lucia: Que bueno eres, majo!

Paco de Lucia was fabulous with his high energy guitar playing and terrific band. What a treat to see a world class musician playing for almost two hours and no break. But managing the event was a failure. The show was sold out. Half the patrons came late - consistently during an hour into the show - to find their seats taken by others; no staff to help clear up the mess and for the first hour we saw only snippets of Paco in between the crowds in front and around us fighting to get their real seats without spilling their beers. What's up with that? Get some staff up there to get people into their correct seats from the start and to limit when latecomers can take their place. The rest of us suffered the consequences and missed the lovely first songs of the concert.

This has been the best concert I've ever been to! The audience couldn't stop clapping and was very exited. The singers and instrumentalists were amazing but the dancer was the star of the show; he made the audience stand up of excitement. Paco's playing is at its finest. Please bring him again to Miami!!!

There will be a before and after Paco de Lucia in Flamenco history The rythm is just incredible and the quality. Although he has not the same speed in some techniques, he feel the rythm even better than yearsvago. I love the way he undertands and express the flamenco.

He came with 7 musicians, including two incredible singers and a dancer that made us stand up and applaud. What can I say about Paco? He is a virtuoso, he plays his guitar effortlessly and with so much feeling. The entire show was caliente, intense, emotional, like spanish flamenco music is. It was an incredible show all around~
