A crazy twist on classical music! Definitely not what your mind would expect. The choreography was great, and the show even had some hilarious comedic moments. For an opera theater the Civic Opera House has a booming sound system for the electronic interludes.

The quality of the actual dancing was subpar. They are athletic for sure, but they have a lot to learn when it comes to breakdancing. It became dull at some points because they did not execute the movements woth enough style, sharpness or accuracy. They came short for sure. Even my husband was not impressed. Their footwork & artwork was where the most of the problem laid. The artistry of it tho was really good. The musical interpretation & the music itself were amazing. The show itself was good, but the dancer left you wanting. I'd give the dancer 2 stars but the show itself more. So I settled on 3.

Excellent, excellent musicians and dancers. One of the dancers was injured and could not perform, and there was no understudy to replace him, so the choreography was noticeably off with an odd number of dancers performing the paired sequences. The performance is about 70 minutes, which is somewhat short given the pretty steep ticket prices. I understand how physically demanding the dancing is; I just didn't want it to end.

The Lyric Opera House was filled with a mix of the well-dressed opera goers and more casual dance enthusiasts. A piano, a harpsichord, and occasional recorded Bach with a beat were the audio and an attractive group of talented young dancers were the visual. One female dancer with a contemporary repertoire was underutilized. I could have watched her dance all night. The group of young men thrilled with head spins, leaps, kicking spins, and other choreographed moves. This is the kind of stuff you can find on street corners in questionable neighborhoods, but with difference music, All in all, it was a very good show.

The combination of classical music and breakdancing was off.the.hook. Spellbinding from start to finish, the entire audience roared at times and held their breath at others, completely captivated. I can't imagine the Civic Opera House has ever had such an enthralled crowd... I immediately ran home to see if I could buy tickets for my friends to see them in NYC, and was shocked to see that Chicago is their only U.S. stop on their world tour. Come back and perform elsewhere -- you are amazing!!!!!!!!

The dancing was superb and well thought out . The colloboration of Bach masterpieces and breakdance blew many folks minds out. Coming from a breakdance childhood I danced to pretty much everything that had beat: so the mesh wasnt really mind boggling. I would have enjoyed to see the crew incorporate more females in the line up. They represent a different style of dance and passion. The use of story line through me off...No special effects, and hardly any incorporation of technology yelling to take Bach and breakdance to a whole new level. It wasnt cirque de solie but...think passion think modern think targeting every demographic to instill love back into the music and dance specifically for those who have never experienced breakdance at this level.

I was expecting a fun performance, but what I got was a show that seemed to glorify domestic violence while hinting at rape. At one point in the show, one of the male dancers actually "hits" the single female dancer. He is later forgiven by the rest of the male dance crew, which of course is all that matters (who cares about the female's feelings?!). Besides these truly disturbing themes, there's a long section in the middle of the show where the audience is forced to watch slow motion video of dancers twisting around with a bunch of water droplets. Confused? Me too. And this video went on FOREVER. I would not recommend this show.

I was the oldest person there but didn't care. Didn't know what to expect when I purchased tickets but was up for an experience and what a terrific experience it was. The breakdancing was amazing but I,having a background in ballet really liked the young lady doing ballet moves. The pianist (also the director) and harpsicordist were phenomonal.

Red Bull's Flying Bach helped redefine what I believed was possible when talking about the combination of break-dancing and classical music. The piano and harpsichord pieces played live sounded beautiful and incredibly present. The dancing was top-notch and extremely engaging. If orchestra or opera sounds a little boring normally, this show will not be! It was really unique seeing breakdancing reinterpreted to the beat and flow of classical baroque Bach music, and the mixture of a little bit of ballet made it a beauty to watch. I went in not knowing that baroque classical and hip-hop mash-ups where a thing, and now I can't stop looking for where I can find more music like this!

i could tell these break dancers were so talented but sadly we did not get to see their talent. they were constrained by the slow music and storyline and didn't really get to shine. I would've liked to see less of a storyline, less of the female ballet dancer, and more of them just break dancing.

We weren't sure exactly what to expect for this show, but we were completely blown away by the talent of this group of artists. It was high energy throughout the whole show with drama, comedy, and artistry. In addition to the dancers, there were 2 pianists who played each piece so beautifully. It really is a one of a kind combination of talent. We brought the whole family out and the kids (13, 13, and 18) are still raving about it to their friends 3 days later. Thank you for coming to Houston and introducing this unique event to our town.

Great show! Red Bull always puts on an attention grabbing and well put together production! The Flying Steps have some real stamina! You will find yourself sitting there saying "WOW did you see that:" to whoever is sitting next to you! The choreography went right along with the classical music like you would never imagine and they were in perfect sync with each other. They throw in a little hip hop twist into some of the songs that's really cool and some of the music is from a recording, and some of it is played live on the pianos. It's a great show that the whole family can enjoy. Well.. you probably don't want to take the little bitty kids but probably 5 years and up can enjoy it if they are into that kind of thing. (I don't have kids so I could be soo wrong LOL) The whole show last about an hour. We went to a 4:00 which was perfect timing to get there and get back home for dinner (we lived about 50 minutes away from the venue we went to ).

While the event was well directed and produced. I was very disheartened with the utter lack and disregard for the historical and cultural underpinnings of the dances. Additionally, the fact that there were no Puerto Rican or Black performers, the people who originated the dances in The Bronx were neither present or acknowledged was equally disparaging. While they were acknowledged by some of the dancers this was not conveyed at all during the performance. Just another example of the originators not getting their due credit or respect for their efforts of originating a cultural, musical and performance phenomenon.

I always look for "cultural" events that I can share with my children, and came across Flying Bach. My 11 and 9 year old sons loved it! There were some slow bits during the show, but they were quickly forgotten when the breakdancing started. Music was provided by piano, harpsichord and what can best be described as Techno-Bach. We loved it all!

Unique performance that kept my 9 year old enthralled throughout the show. I'm not skilled in dance so I don't know the names of any of the moves but these guys were impressive. Loved that there was an underlying story. The ballet dancer is very elegant as well. Only reasons I didn't give it 5 stars are; the long awkward period where they showed images on the screen without dancing, and that some of the artist chose not to do a solo at the end.

If the dancers actually performed when the piano was being played instead of the dubbed over music this could have been an unbelievable show. But unfortunately we found it rather odd. Very talented group of performers without enough material for a full show. There were 2 or 3 instances when the performers left the stage and we watched videos of the performers while the pianists played. We had purchased seats in row 8 so that my husband, who has limited eyesight, would be able to see. The stage was so high that we could only see the upper half of the performer's bodies. Since this was break dancing, we missed a great amount of the show. I ended up finding a place on the side to stand up for most of the performance

I bought seats on the 5th row, which turned out to be the front row. From that row you could see the dancers heads. That's it. You couldn't stretch your neck and see the dancers. The stage was at least two feet too high. I went out to ask someone to reseat us, ended up having to raise hell with three different people to get different seats (they didn't care a bit and were rude). The new seats were better, but still too low relative to the stage. No refund for the difference in seat cost.

Interesting for the first 20 minutes and then truly boring. The girl, really didn't fit in, with her way of dancing, or the way she was dressed up. The guys simple keep repeating same moves over and over. And the story, with them slapping the girl and then she slapping some of them, was not fun at all. I wish we red reviews before we went, because we would never waisted time watching this.

The show was good, but I can't really tell you how good because I could not see most of the dancing unless they were at the very front of the stage and I could Not see any of the footwork. It was SO disappointing. My seats were second row orchestra, expensive and should have been fantastic, but the height of the stage was such that no one in the first 5-10 rows could see everything. These seats should have been sold as "limited view" and at a discount. I'm not sure if this is Red Bulls fault or the Masonic's fault, but it ruined the show for me.

These boys are unbelievable. Absolutely marvelous. A relatively short performance (about 1hr) in which we enjoyed every minute. Top: dancers Great: pianists Cool: music although, I never liked Bach very much and that hasn't changed. I wish they were Flying Mozarts or else instead : )) There is a pretty good sight from everywhere you sit and if you don't have such a very cute and freshly fallen in love couple in the row before of you... What sucked: the seats. For longer performances it would have been an imposition.

LAME!! When you think of Redbull do you think of extreme sports or classical music? Exactly! The show was EXTREME-ly slow! I dare anyone to drink a few red bulls and try to sit through this "breakdance ballet" and not wanna jump out and ask for your money back! I recommend this show to 5-12yr old kids and 45-60yr old ladies because they were the only ones raving about it. I'm a 32 male ex- breaker and hip hop head. If you are too, stay away!!

This was the best show that my daughter and I ever attended. I have been going to the Opera House for over 30 years and I can say that I will never ever look at Bach the same way again. The agility of the dancers was something I could have never imagined. I am German and I have to say WAY TO REPRESENT GERMANY!!! Thank you Thank you

The whole event was amazing!! The skill of the hip hop dancers was incredible and the atmosphere that Red Bull provided was so energetic. Honestly anyone even remotely interested in dance should count this as a must see!

Original ballet dancer was not performing. Choreography was lackluster. Storyline was absurd, confusing, and only muddled up the performance even more. I had high hopes for this event, I really liked the concept of breakdancing and classical dancing styles being mashed up, but it's execution was terrible. I've seen better on YouTube. I read in another review someone calling it a bad rendition of something you can see on X Factor...perfect description. Definitely not worth the money. Also don't bother purchasing front row tickets because they stuffed the orchestra pit area with foldable seats that then completely blocked the view of front row seat purchasers. Since the orchestra pit area seats were not tiered like the rest of the theater, the rear rows in the orchestra pit area as well as the front two rows of the theater basically couldn't see anything. In fact many viewers left because at some point we just gave up straining our necks. There is a reason theater seats are tiered! Yet by stuffing more seats in the theater to make more money, they lost many potential return customers.

Flying Bach was one of the most interesting performances I have ever seen. There was music, dance, comedy, & drama! What more could you ask for? A must see event. Way to go Red Bull!

Loved the DJ spinning before the show. Breakdancers and ballet dancer were good, but wished they danced to more of the music the DJ was spinning.

The show was absolutely amazing. I have never seen such strength and stamina from dancers in my life. The combination of music, performers and theatrics was perfect. I highly recommend the show to anyone who appreciates dance or Bach.

Our family enjoyed the show. There are not many venues that are fun for ages 5 to 65.

The dancing was mediocre at best. In the first five minutes a break dancer fell out of his stance. The ballerina looked terrible too. She was not graceful and she landed heavy on the stage after every jump!

I really enjoyed the mix of classical music and breakdancing. Flying Bach also took the time to tell a story throughout the show versus just being a strict dance concert. There were two slow parts, but overall excellent!

The music was great and the dancers were absolutely awesome! It's hard to believe they can dance like that even tho' we saw it for ourselves! The show was soo artistically done - much more than we expected. Our only reservation was the "story line." I really didn't see the need for it to be based on violence against women, especially since so many kids were in the audience. It just wasn't necessary and felt offensive to me. Loved the final showcase bows!

As a huge fan of SYTYCD, I was very much looking forward to watching the breakdancing. Coupled with the music, it was very creative and different. Definitely an energetic show!

Good show with great skills. Too much filler with the ballet and attempt at a storyline. Stick to showing off amazing skills and it would be Awesome!

This was an absolutely first class performance all the way. We starred in awe at some of the dance moves the artists made. Not only were they creative and extraordinarily difficult to execute but execute them they did with grace and ease. Put this on your "to see" list!

The show wasn't quite what I thought it would be but it was enjoyable. I would have preferred that the projector come from overhead so as not to shine through the performers. For a few scenes it was a little distracting. The performance as a whole was incredible.

The show itself was great! It was a little short (hour and 15-minutes). I wasn't crazy about the girl next to me who continuously exclaimed "WOW!!" with every headspin or helicopter. But, you can't really help that. I would definitely go see it again. Not sure I would pay $80 again though (especially if the person next to me is going to talk and gasp through it).

Amazing Event! Nice combination of street and classical along with solid choreography. Didn't expect to spend my Saturday night out at the Opera House but hoping Red Bull brings this tour back to the US again ASAP!

I would definitely recommend this performance to others. The music was amazing and so was the dancing. If I could change one thing, it would be more costume changes and more females in the show. The dancers were amazing but I felt it was monotonous at times. I would have liked a bit more variety.
