I have been going to Gen shows since the early 90's, and Gen has never disappointed me yet. The musicians are tight and the stageshow is second to none. Gen works the crowd like not other performer and has great "audiance participation" namely myself at that last show :)

I was really loving the show before David Yow (Jesus Lizard) showed up on stage, stumbling drunk and yelping into the microphone. I respect that GVSB reveres him and his band(s) output and as a friend, but his voice does not work for them and his antics smothers the band's otherwise fantastic live set. GVSB are playing in top form, it's just a shame that their collaboration with another artist couldn't be someone more complimentary (like Mark Lanigan from Screaming Trees showing up for Mad Season).

Absolutely positively love The Gramercy Theater. There is no doubt in my mind that Gid Street Wine is the greatest band that ever lived...

Summer night at the outside amphitheater of Chastain Park in ATL was an ideal setting for this event. The setlist was choice. It really showcased both Warren and Jerry's talents. The symphony added another layer of depth and texture to the old standbys. Vocals and guitar are two of Warren's big talents, and he utilizes them on this occasion and the result was beautiful.

This year's 20th Anniversary Christmas concert was one of the best! Gary Hoey plays from the heart and it reflects in the greatness of the music he plays. Surrounded by his family friends and fans, in the beautiful Blue Ocean Music Hall, we enjoyed Live Christmas tunes in the Gary Hoey " Guitar sings it best" tradition. AJ on bass and Matt on the drums, this band knows how to jam! It's always a pleasure to see Ian Hoey on stage too. It will be an amazing day in music history when these two start collaborating on their own original songs ! Ian is gifted and with a dad like Gary, I expect great things! 2 sets with an intermission and immediately following the show, Gary meets and greats for photos and autographs while AJ & Matt mingle with the fans.

John McDermott

Again, John McDermott gave a fantastic show. The man, in addition to being a terrific talent, is a humble person. He has such a rich sense of humor and loves to tell stories about his family and friends as introduction to the songs he sings. He's backed by 4 very talented musicians, and he gives them a chance to show off. John performed for about 75-90 minutes without an intermission. Some old songs, some new. Not as many old Irish songs as he has done in the past, but his newer material is great. The venue was small and intimate with not a bad seat in the house. A perfect setting for this type of show.

Daniela Mercury

The wonderful thing about Brazilian Musicians is that they are never boring. They size up the audience, and play to that audience. In this case, the turnout for the Greek Theater show of Daniela Mercury and the Brothers from Brazil was about a third of the Greek s capacity. I do not think total attendance was more than 1500 people. That was fine for us, as they upgraded our seats from section C to Section B. The side sections were closed as well, making this an intimate affair. We got there early enough to get free parking as well, so I was pleased even before the show started. I has had two opportunities to see the Brothers from Brazil beforehand at Molly Malone s, but due to the late start time of 11:00pm, I had to decline. I am sorry I had, because these two garotos were fantastic! Imagine a cross between Sergio Mendes, House of Freaks and Frank Zappa, and you get the idea. Both are talented singers and instrumentalists, on guitar and drums, and funny as all get out. These dudes should be on Saturday Night Live or Leno. This was my fourth time seeing Daniela Mercury in concert, having seen her twice at the Hollywood Bowl, and once at Royce Hall, UCLA. I have about six of her CDs plus one live DVD, so I am very familiar with her music. Daniela is one of the great three Bahia musicians along with Yvette Sangalo and Carlinhos Brown. She is also a UN cultural ambassador for Brazil, which allows her to travel a bit more than many of her Brazilian contemporaries, many of whom get caught up in the reciprocity agreements between the two nations. This show was a tour de force, as they opened with a mystical dance movement of an elemental nature. Daniela played her repertoire at the peak of her ability, plus she added several cover tunes from the likes of Ellis Regina, Antonio Jobim, and Milton Nasciamento. Ms. Mercury has such a body of work, that she could have played four five hours straight and not played her entire songbook. She has done what many Brazilian singers do when the come to the USA and that is to placate the middle of the road crowd. I believe that considering the nature of the audience, predominantly made of Brazilian nationals and their spouses, she could have stuck to her own material entirely, and all would have been pleased. But that is a minor quibble on an amazingly warm night in Griffith Park, with the Moon and Mars hovering overhead, and the tropical sounds of Brazil echoing throughout the theatre.

This was one of the best hip hop shows I've been to. Awesome lineup and awesome crowd. Group Home, Onyx and M.O.P. brought their energy and put on a great show!

This was an amazing, great show. Ozric's music was perfect, multidimensional and inspiring. These people really know how to make good music with simple and at the same time intricate melodic patterns and solos. This music is a mixture of new age rhythms, pulsating rock sound, synthesizers and electric guitar solos. Great music.
