This was my first opportunity to see Stephen Wright in person. I have watched him lose his hair over the years. 75 minutes was not enough... I wanted more. Those 75 minutes were jam-packed with great material, both old and new. I would pay to see him again.

I have come to the conclusion that no performer is worth paying good money to see them perform. much hype, but it was just okay. will think twice about seeing anyone again! Plus it took over an hour to find the venue! If you did not know where it was located you could not find the place. No signage or markings of any kind.

I had seen Steven Wright approx 12 years ago and thought he was hilarious. Not so much this time, but part of the issue was that I couldn't hear 50% of what he said since the sound was so bad at the Vic Theater. We were sitting toward the back so that could have been part of it. But Steven seems to mumble much more than he used to. It was disappointing.

When you walk into a comedy night starring the insane Steven Wright, be prepared for constant laughter. His quick one line statments of his life come at you fast and furious, they are filled with his unique outlook. You think you are watching someone who was just released from the looney bin, and all his observations appear to come from someone brain damaged. But don't let that stop you from seeing him. He speaks in a low key, and you have to listen closely as he does not let his voice go up and down, he keeps everything in one note. What might seem normal for you, is certainly not normal for Steven Wright as he see everything sideways. His two hour sets are compete with some of the funniest imaginations you cna imagine, and you are doubled over screaming at the footlights.

Wright is one of the greatest dead pan comics to come along in recent times. It's the kind of comedy that stimulates the grey matter. He definately chose a great venue for his show. The Fitzgerald Theater is such a great place to be entertained.

Like a fine wine, Steven Wright is an acquired taste. No warm up guy.... just walks out and tells intellectual jokes for an hour and 40 minutes. We enjoyed it immensely, but we knew Steven Wright. He kind of morphed into George Carlin in appearance and attitude at time, but in the subtle dry Wright Way.

Steven Wright was on his game from the first one liner to the last. He's at his best when telling you a story that ends with, "I spent two weeks in jail for that." Leading you to believe the free flow of strange thoughts and ideas can't even be contained when speaking to the police.

Although Steven is very funny and has a great deadpan delivery, much of his material was old and a bit stale.. With all the comedy stations available it's hard not to hear him almost daily. Even though it's fun to hear the old stuff once in a while, We felt 60 - 70% was old and only about a third fresh new jokes. Could have heard most of the show on the radio.

I can only imagine if someone had never heard of Steven Wright and went to see him just because they liked comedy. He is a constant brain twister. Imagine an alien who only knew about Earth from hearing Henny Youngman broadcasts. Especially loved hearing about his dog Snatches who always came when she was called. Loved it!

I enjoy the historic beauty of the Balboa Theater and enjoyed the comfort of my Orchestra seating. Haven't seen Steven Wright since the 80's and the boy knocked it out of the park. Machine gun laconic one liners left everyone in my party's face hurting from so much smiling!! If he had performed a second night--I would have gone again!

I have always wanted to see Steven Wright in person. I have seen small snippets of his act on TV for years. I was disappointed. The first half of his show was very funny. His one liners are hilarious. But the second half was all about death. He also made jokes about hurting animals and he does not appear to hold women in high regard. It is supposed to be comedy but I do not find cruelty to animals at all funny and there is already too much disrespect for women in the world to joke about it.

I have wanted to see Steven Wright for years, but don't think he's been on the road much (or, if he has, I haven't noticed). So I was eager to cross him off my comedy bucket list when I saw he was coming to town. Overall, the show was fun. Lots of newer material, delivered in that same unmistakable monotone. Of course there were a couple of duds mixed in (particularly anything he performed on the guitar), but overall it was a great performance that still has me looking back and laughing several days later.

Steven was great. Ticketmaster not so. When I got to the venue, the TM website would not allow me to show the tickets on my phone. The venue was nice enough to look up and print the tickets for me. That was a major issue.

I've seen Steven Wright 3 or 4 times - the latest being Oct 5, 2017. While I would recommend him to a friend - his humor is right indeed, I think he was off a little this evening. I was sitting about 5 rows from the stage, center and he was hard to understand a fair amount of time. Almost seemed like he was mumbling for a good part (and I'm not talking about places where he seemed to mumble as part of the show - you could tell). He seemed to cough quite a bit and was drinking lots of water. Almost seemed like he wasn't well health-wise.

After Hurricane Irma made it's presence known, it was a relief to have Stephen Wright's bizarre take on life. His standout was all new material ,at least to me, and great. And although the Parker Playhouse wasn't completely functional I love the "grand lady" is always fun to experience.

Don't believe I've ever laughed so much & so hard in my life. At age 60, Mr. Wright is still crazy quick witted & delivered a seemingly endless amount of 1-liners .... for 80 minutes! He is A ONE OF A KIND. Amazing how he remembers them all. Some of his 'repeats' go back as much as 2 decades PLUS, but most of material is new, provocative & sophisticated humor. The venue itself is nice & intimate--not a bad seat in the house. Parking leaves a bit to be desired in field out back.

What an enjoyable evening! A welcoming crowd filled the auditorium and was treated to an hour and a half of continuous laughter. Steven's view of life reveals humor in every day things and shows a bit of the twisted thinking of his incredible mind. This event was postponed from January, but was well worth the wait. UPAC is a beautiful venue to see a performance like this. The only draw-back is that parking for the auditorium is a bit of a walk. I would definitely go see Mr. Wright again!

We've seen Steven Wright several times, but the comedian doesn't appear often enough. His one liners are fantastic and I wish I could remember them, but his dead pan drone is what really carries off his comedy. Steven has not lost his amazing talent to entertain. I was always a fan, and have not seen him in years. If possible, he is better than ever. I did not stop my laughter for an hour and a half, as well, neither did the rest of the audience. I would recommend his show for a light and fun night out.

Even in his extremely laid back way, the jokes were rapid fire and non-stop. Laugh out loud funny after all these years. Just him talking, and 90 minutes flew by. I would absolutely recommend this show. He's not filthy and foul mouthed like some.

Steven Wright is like the days of George Carlin, he gets funnier with age. Hes so quick witted and this is my 3rd time seeing him. He's never a disappointment. I wished he had done more songs, but thats my just my preference. He had NO opening act and he stayed on for almost an hour and a half. I cant wait to see him again if he comes up here!

Steven Wright was great. The Talking Stick room does not offer elevated seating. I am 6"2" and in row M I could only glimpse at the entertainer when the heads in front of me lined up.

This was my first time to this nice little theatre. However, I paid $47.30 each for 2 seats on the last row there. The sound system was terrible, so I heard about half of what he said. Drove 120 miles to hear a worn out performer. Much better on You Tube. Suggest your sound guy adjust the system so everything SW said was not a blur.

I love comedians that make me think, not necessarily deep thoughts, but think different. Steven Wright does this with his unique perspective of everyday events and sometimes bizarre ramblings that you wish would go on and on. He's a must see and Carolina Theater is the best theater in the area.
