Dr. John and Joe Cocker were in great voice, belting out their classic tunes as if decades hadn't passed. Dr. John's "Right Place Wrong Time" amd Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful" and "Feeling all Right" were personal favorites, sounding just as good as when they were first released. The band and the guest artists, as well as the backup singers, all rocked. It was more of an ongoing jam session than a concert. The music was raw and rough, they way it should be. This event was a great tribute to Cornell as well as a testament to why this music must be preserved forever!! The appearance of Cornell's wife, along with a video of Cornell himself, was particularly moving, and Paul Schaeffer was flawless as emcee.

I was in awe of all these R&B performers that I had never heard of. Absolutely, thought Joe Cocker was the most amazing singer and always love to see Dr. John perform.

Dr John and Joe Cocker were awesome. Playing some of their greatest hits and never sounded better. Dr John even played a wicked guitar as he let a fellow New Orleans piano man sit in for a song. What a Night!

What a great show. To see two legends in an intimate setting like this was incredible. Joe Cocker did not disappoint, singing many of his well known tunes such as "Feelin' Alright" and "You Are So Beautiful". Likewise, Dr. John thrilled the crowd with "Right Place, Right Time" and "Iko Iko", among others. BB King's Blues Club in NYC is a great venue. The food is good and the sound is always up to par. To add to the festive atmosphere at this particular show, the crowd knew they were involved in a noble effort....raising money for a lung transplant for premium guitarist Cornell Dupree. Dr. John treated the crowd to a rare sight...him playing guitar. He began his career years ago as a guitarist, until a mysterious hand injury switched him to keys. To see him grab the Strat from the guitarist and lay down some lead as well as rhythm work was very cool indeed. Special guest Emcee Paul Shaffer did a fine job. The promoter, David Kramer, produces many shows at BB's, and his events are always a great time.
