Newsies (Touring)

I took my 12 year old daughter to your show, not knowing much about it. I was mesmerized by the dancing. Better yet, the humorous slant you portrayed of the lives of poor news boy in the 1900's was marvelous. Rather than sad and depressing, the storyline was amazing and the actors were so on task. We want to go again!! We thought nothing could beat WICKED!!

This was my first theatre musical experience and it was awesome! Definitely a must see! I'm glad I surprised my girlfriend with these tickets for our date night!

Enjoyed the play. It was very entertaining. Amazing set changes. Very talented actors.

MY 16 AND 17 year old grandkids loved it. Singing and dancing were great. I never wanted it to end. All scenes held our attention. I would recommend it to everyone

The cast and songs were crowdraising, and the crowd did exactly that. There were roaring cheers, standing ovations, and joyous laughter. Brilliant show.

This is the second time we see Newsies - first in Broadway and now in Baltimore and the touring company did such a great job as well as Broadway.

This was a fantastic show. The dancing, storyline, songs, etc. were all great. This is what musicals are all about. Just good fun.

The set was interesting and dynamic, the costumes were well designed, the lighting was spot on, music, acting & singing were phenomenal, choreography was creative and exciting. I laughed, I cried... this was truly an amazing show all around. I was captivated the whole time.

The dancing was great, the singing was great. I loved my whole experience...except the weather that night.

If you go for any reason, go to see the dancing. Amazing choreography, amazing dancers. The acting was so-so, some of the singers were fantastic while others were just okay, but the dancing! Superb.

Went to see Newsies as a 16th birthday present for my daughter, Emma - who is a true Fansie! Really enjoyed the show, and she was so happy to meet the stars after the show at the backstage door. The stars were very happy to take selfies and sign autographs, Emma had the best birthday ever!!!

This show was literally one of the best live performances I have ever seen. The adaptations from screen to stage were natural and the focus given to the cast would make any existing Newsies fan proud. The stage design was wonderfully done and the performances were spot on. This one is a must see for everybody of all ages!

Dancing and singing, stage sets etc. were wonderful!

The show was terrific - as good as Broadway show. The stage was smaller than Nederlander and therefore some of staging was different. These kids are young, full of energy and just inspiring! An uplifting show for young and old!!!

What a wonderful show! The dancing, singing and acting was superb. They put the audience right back in 1890's New York City with the sets and the costumes. I loved the authentic accents, things haven't changed much it seems.

A highly-charged, creative production that brought forth an effortless standing ovation. Many stand-out performances among young talent. Veteran Steve Blanchard has spare stage time as the villain, Pulitzer, but creates a dominant presence, nonetheless. Such a win.

My daughters were Newsies junkies growing up, watching the video over and over. When it was coming here I knew I had to take them. We loved the show. The sets were amazing and you really weren't aware of them moving them around to take the play to another location. The dancing was great. The only criticism is that the rewritten love interest still doesn't work (it really didn't work in the movie either). Newsies is really an all boys show.

I have seen newsies twice once in newyork two years ago and then in baltimore and it was absolutely amazing both times. I love the show and everything about it. I would watch it again and again if I could.

Awesome show. Good music, dancing, and the actors/actresses are very energetic. You can tell they are passionate about the show and what they do. Incredible performance--every bit as good as Broadway. Racetrack (Race) was awesome.

Newsies displayed wonderful talent, positive energy and incredible role models for young people wanting to challenge themselves in something other than sports. We took our daughter for her 30th Birthday, remembering how much she loved the movie as a teenage girl. Very enjoyable evening. Very appropriate for younger people and hope they come out to see it.

The cast of Newsies had amazing energy. They truly enjoyed performing. They had the audience in the palm of their hands. I can't remember the last time I was part of an audience that was so supercharged. What a wonderful performance and a wonderful evening!

This was my 4th time seeing the show and each show was better than the last. The cast's excitement to be performing could be felt the full two hours. From the costumes to the music to the stage design, everything was high quality. If you get the chance to see this incredible show before it closes in October, I HIGHLY recommend it. P.S. The cast is incredibly sweet when you talk to them at stage door. All were extremely genuine and sincere.

I see many of touring musicals that come to the Pantages Theater inLA. I also see many regional shows. This production of Newsies fell into the category of FANTASTIC for me. Very rarely do any of the shows I see I will describe as fantastic or even bother with doing the review. Usually most people will do the review if it's fantastic or it stinks. This one ROCKED!! The dancing was amazing!! There are definitely many highly trained dancers and gymnasts in this cast!! The audience was so amazed by the big song and dances numbers, they cheered and applauded loudly I loved the story. The music was great. and the casting was outstanding.

My friend and I took the Metro From the Universal Station (only two stops) and arrived directly across the street. Upon crossing the street, I was quite taken back by the setup in front of the Pantages. It has been some time since I was last at this venue and was saddened to see that they are now searching purses and bags upon entry. This drastically took away from the magical feeling I used to get when walking through the large doors of the venue. The show itself was enthralling. Voices were clear and audible, constant set changes that flowed with the show and enhanced the imagery. There were bits of humor and romance amidst a great historical/political story.

This show is crazy good. The performance by the cast was unforgettable, the choreography was fantastic, the songs grew into me and before I knew it I couldn't stop listening to it. This is my third time watching it and I drove ten hours to get to this location just so I could see it again. Whenever this show plays in California, I will get there, no matter how unlikely or how far the distance is. I can't get enough of it.

The cast is the best and they really put there hearts out there. Leaving it all on the stage. Great job!

This production of Newsies really hit it out of the park! The sets were completely amazing; so many moving parts with the actors interacting throughout the process. The video displays added such a wonderful touch to the set design. NOW...the SINGING and THE DANCING!!!! This was non-stop action that really did please and made you long for more!!!

I absolutely loved this show! I was a big fan of the movie and couldn't wait to see the stage production, although it took four years for the tour to come my way. Totally worth the wait. Saw it in San Jose and immediately made plans to see it in Los Angeles. It was just as good the second time, if not better. The score and choreography were amazing. It's been a week, and I am still singing the songs all the time. All the performances were fantastic. Joey Barreiro in the lead was incredible-I fell in love with Jack Kelly all over again! It really looked like the cast was having the best time putting on this performance. This is now one of my all-time favorite musicals! I would see it again and again and again if I had the chance.

Fabulous and so many talented performers. It was a little long for my 10 year old Grandson but we all enjoyed it anyway.

I've been a fan of the movie Newsies ever since a friend convinced me to watch it 15 years ago... Needless to say, this live version did NOT disappoint! My mom and I go to the Pantages theater at least once a year, and while I've loved them all, this one had, by far, the most dancing I've ever seen. It was amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better show!

If you loved the Disney movie, you'll love the live musical! I loved every single moment. The song and dance numbers were all fantastic and I would totally go see it again.

This musical was just great. It was fun and energetic. The music was fabulous and the dancing was amazing. We loved it and plan on definitely seeing it again in the future.

Newsies was truly an excellent musical with incredible dancing, singing and acting. These performers are absolutely incredible and I give them a tremendous amount of credit for all of the long hours and hard work that go into this play. I would 10/10 recommend this musical to anyone who wants to experience a great story and hear some of the most catchy and beautiful songs on Broadway. Seize the day!!!

Great show. Great venue. Seats were perfect. Got there early easy parking I. The structure. Walked down to local restaurant near by. Awesome evening all around.

Loved this story. I didn't realize that it was loosely based on a true story! Music was great and the dancing a choreography was wonderful. The Pantages Theater is a lovely theater (just wish there were more stalls in the ladies room!). Parking is adequate and close by.

This touring cast continues to amaze and dazzle audiences all over. It's a totally entertaining show from start to finish.

I really enjoyed this show. So energetic! It didn't feel like two hours long. Definitely recommend it for kids, 10 years and up.

Sets and choreography were fabulous. These guys had to be great athletes constantly running and dancing up three flight of stairs along with dialogue. Whole family (ages 9-60) loved it

The best musical ever!!! They are a wonderful group of people. They each took the time to meet and greet at the end and everyone of the cast was so kind, happy, and just perfect. So thank you :)

My husband and I went there for our anniversary and it was really good decision. The show was full with amazing songs and dances. Since we are from NYC, the story was even better to us. What I really liked about was stage design and how it changes. You must try this show!!

The show deviated, from the movie that I love, in very strange ways. Taking away the male reporter role and giving it to a woman we are supposed to believe is young enough to be Jack's love interest but old enough for the large, male run newspaper empire to care about and actually post her article on the front page. It was far fetched enough in the movie with a veteran male reporter, the female would just be unheard of in that day and age. Besides that, her voice was so monotone it was obnoxious and her one solo song felt like she was mumbling through it, I couldn't tell you what she was saying at all during that number except when it was written on the screen behind her. I was also disappointed that the Seize the Day number wasn't as powerful as it was in the movie. Overall it was fun to her the songs and see the performances by the newsies, who were fantastic, and the man who played Pulitzer was fantastic. I was glad I saw it, but have no desire to see it again. Unlike the other Disney productions I've seen.

We enjoyed the movie version, but the stage performance blew that version away. Great set kept the actors moving. Singing was excellent, as was the sound quality. My whole family was super impressed with the dancing. Highly recommend this show for kids of all ages. Many of the actors were kind enough to stop and sign autographs by the stage door.

Growing up in my family meant you watched The Newsies everyday, all of my family could recite the movie line for line, we knew every song! One of the first DVDs I bought as an adult was a copy of The Newsies... And of course the soundtrack is a staple in my car. So when I heard that the play was coming to Mpls, I had to call all my cousins and tell them, which ended with me buying tickets that night!! We all made the trip to The Orpheum, it was our first time there. The excitement had taken over and we were all on cloud 9!!! When the lights went down, our smiles were plastered on our faces. I literally couldn't sit still the entire time!! And even though the movie and play were a little different, you never lost the heart of the Newsies. Laughter, chills, goosebumps, grins... All taking turns looking at our reactions. Thank God for intermission so we could talk about the show!!! Only halfway thru and we could barely contain ourselves!!! The second half of the show was even better if you could imagine!! The dancing and athleticism of the actors was so inspiringly, awesome to watch! To sit in the audience and feel the buzz of excitement from everyone around you was something that I will never forget!! Thank you for taking me back to my childhood, for giving me the excitement of a little kid again! This was an experience that my family and I will never forget.

I have loved the musical Newsies, since the revived it 5 years ago on Broadway and I was so excited to see it when it came to Milwaukee! Newsies, did not disappoint! The show was outstanding! The actor who played Jack Kelly---WOW! And the dancing! I could go on and on about how much I loved the show, but I wouldn't because you all need to see it for yourself. It is well worth every penny. I wanted to see it again, but all the performances were sold out.

I have waited 23 years for this movie to be made into a musical and I was not disappointed. The new songs, the incredible dancing, the stellar acting and the non stop energy and action are amazing.

Awesome show!!! I laughed, I cried, I was total engaged!! A cross between Oliver Twist and West Side Story. A must see for the whole family. I loved Nico De Jesus's performance as "Romeo"!! :)

I do not regret buying my tickets two months ago when I heard about this coming to Detroit! The Detroit Opera House stage is not grandiose, however the movement of the scenery and the creativity of the set design was fantastic! These young men and few women are extremely talented. I was pleasantly surprised with fantastic choreography that brought me back to my childhood days in theatre. It makes me want to warm up my voice and take dance lessons all over again! My 8 1/2 year-old accompanied me, along with my mother. My daughter was skeptical at first as to what mommy possibly could have Dructor to, but commented for several days after on how much she really enjoyed experience! Fun for all ages.

This is a great show with an easy to follow story line. A group of 3 HS seniors and 3 40+moms enjoyed this musical at The Orpheum in Memphis. All of us were blown away by the dancing/acrobats! The cast performed with high energy and great skill! The stage set, with moving multi tiered stairs with attached catwalks, was brilliant! It was exciting to see how they would move and reconfigure for each scene seamlessly. This is a great musical that would appeal to any gender and age group. We were very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed the show!

Having seen the Disney movie Newsies in 1992 at 17 years old (yes I'm probably not in the demographic now lol), I've been waiting for the Broadway musical ever since! The touring production was everything that I had hoped for! The set design was fantastic! The costumes were wonderful! The actors were amazing! The dramatic and comedic performances were spot on! The singing was first class! And the dancing...wow! Blew my mind! I can't be more proud to say that I would see this production every year! The cast of the Newsies made this 40 year old woman (and 17 year old inside me) squeal with delight! Bravo!

The show was absolutely incredible! High-energy dance numbers with great choreography and impeccable harmonies. Family-friendly but never cheesy! An amazing display of talent.

The cast and ensemble put their all into the show. We went to an early tour, and at first I wondered is so dancers were a little tired, however with in minutes they fed off each others energy and that between the audience and the players. I have had some of these tunes "in my ear" for a long time and it was great to see them in the show.

First real musical experience. All other experience were high school and college performances. And for this first time it was amazing. Beautiful venue and prompt staff. Such an excellent show.

Growing up, I used to watch Newsies on the VHS I had, memorizing songs and singing along. I get nothing but excitement when I hear Newsies was coming to Broadway. Seeing this tonight returned many memories, made me sing along, and fine new joy in the new twists on a remembered story. Thanks for a fun evening!

I have been a huge Newsies fan since I saw the film. The true story that was a base for the film piqued my interest in child labor and influenced my senior project in high school. The minute I heard that Newsies was coming to Broadway I was ecstatic since I knew a national tour had to follow. The show was so well done that it left me going, "I have no talent." The cast is fantastic. The dancing, my God, the dancing. I can't even do a proper cartwheel and these guys (and a couple gals) are doing things many of us can only dream of doing. I do like what they did with the plot change from the movie. It wasn't too drastic and I felt it worked really well. I think I liked it a bit more. I had an excellent view from my seat (Mezzanine, Left Center, 313A) and saw all the action. I would definitely recommend this show to a friend and I would be the one sitting right next to them watching it again! Bravo Disney and Newsies!

As a longtime fan of Newsies, I know the show pretty well. I didn't notice a single error with the tour. Every line was correct, every prop was there, every cue was met, every dance move completed. There were no understudies for act one but at intermission an older ensemble part was taken over by a swing, who seamlessly transitioned into the piece. I have never seen a show where the entire cast was as involved as this one- whenever anyone was on stage, they were in character, they were there. It truly exemplified the idea that there are no small parts, just small actors. They never forgot where they were- either that, or they did forget and really thought they were in turn of the century New York. The leads are especially wonderful, just joys to watch. The only complaint I have is that the cast immediately had to skedaddle after the show to go do something else and so we didn't get to meet them. I had fanart for them.

This musical was extremely good and was performed beautifully. This has easily become my favorite musical. The choreography and songs were beautiful and really showcased the cast's talent. I went to the stage door after and the cast was extremely polite and asked us what we thought of the show. They signed my program, my sister's program and poster. I hope to see this musical again with this cast because they were great!

From the music to the costumes to the sets to the lights, every detail of the show was just perfection. Newsies is a modern day ballet with just the right amount of comedy and song. Do not miss it!

This was the experience of a lifetime. The show was the best I had ever seen. It had been my dream to see the show on Broadway, but I wasn't able to make it out to NY but I was able to fly down to see it in LA. The show was amazing quality, the dancing was superb, and the singing was fabulous.

I couldn't resist the line from "Hello Dolly," but this is overall a thoroughly entertaining show, and the combination of grace and athleticism is amazing. All the roles are well-acted and sung. The only low mark would be for historical accuracy, but hey, that's Disney's standard.

Newsies was just wonderful- the sets, the singing and best of all the dancing. I took my 2 daughters, 2 granddaughters (12 and 14) and niece. My girls and niece remembered the movie and sang along with many songs. It was a wonderful start to our holiday season.

We had not been to Toby's in years, having moved out of the area. However, our 15 year old daughter is a Broadway nut and was excited to hear Toby's was showing Newsies. It was amazing! Performers were all excellent, top quality & would definitely recommend this show. Dinner was very good, as always. We will definitely be back.

I took my 8-year-old son to see Newsies because I wanted him to see that boys can dance and sing on stage. I had never seen it before, not even as a film, and it blew me away. The dancing was so masculine and powerful. The music was fantastic! I would see it again in a heartbeat, and my son was inspired. He wants to be on stage, and this show encouraged him to pursue his interests.

2nd time I've seen Newsies, and it is terrific. The effort put into providing the audience a memorable experience is amazing and appreciated. Great talent and energy. The only thing that was bothersome was when the orchestra either went off key or altered the music to "King of New York". Why they would do this was irritating and disappointing. Not the cast's fault, they gave it all they had.

The show needed a bit more humor, the dancing, singing and acting were ok, but it was not funny enough. I went with my family of 6, and no one liked it, not even my youngest daughter who is 8, she wanted to leave at intermission.
