We had a wonderful evening! Long time fans, listening on the radio, as well as past show, and have many cassettes, that we often play while traveling! Such a joy, with Garrison, his piano player and beautiful singer, in voice and appearance! Enjoyed the "intermission", when the entire audience had chance to stand and join Garrison in song!

I have listened to Garrison on the radio for years and with his retirement of the Prairie Home Companion, Saturday evening is just not the same. Took my Mom to the show and we had the most wonderful evening. Garrison is the master of story weaving and just keeps you in suspense up to the final word.

Went to see GK at Cary Hall in Lexington Massachusetts tonight. He had us in the palm of his hand....magical evening...why then do you have to take the Lord's name in vain and share a poem about cunnilingus with your wife. Totally inappropriate and offensive. I am not a prude and he said a lot of funny and touching things but four or five offensive and totally needless moments ruined it for me. If it is going to be R rated, please tell people so they don't bring their kids and so they can avoid it as well.

I've listened to his show on the radio for years and loved it. He did not disappoint. He was intelligent, entertaining and engaging. He connected with the audience as he walked around and through the aisles (we were outdoors) and I loved the intermission sing along. It was a fabulous show and Cedar Rapids was lucky to have him here! So sorry to hear he'll be retiring after his next season. His band and lead singer were amazingly talented people and his special effects person was unbelievable. It was apparent that these are people with talent who work hard. The show lasted for 2 1/2 - 3 hours and they didn't miss a beat. I'd recommend his show to anyone who is a Prairie Home Companion fan, or just Garrison Keillor fan, because all of it was wonderful. We were outdoors at the Amphitheater on a beautiful summer night and a good time was had by all. Thanks to all of them for coming here.

Garrison Keillor is a wonderful story teller. He led off with singing some familiar tunes and then segued into several charming and sometimes entertaining stories, a few of a very personal nature. Some folks walked out....and continued to walk out during the program. While my husband and I are adults...and were not personally offended... some seniors were and chose to leave. If you are attending because you think it will be like A Prairie Home Companion...it is NOT. It is just Garrison Keillor sitting on a stool telling stories as well as leading the audience in song. Many of the songs are those you and I have known and sung since childhood. Favorites that we learned in school and growing up. What I found inappropriate was his choice to lead the audience in songs that were Christian church hymn. Garrison, not everyone who attends your program is Christian. Having listened to NPR to A Prairie Home Companion for over 30 years....I was disappointed.

We heard Garrison Keillor on Valentine's Day and were disappointed. Very few stories, very little about Lake Wobegon, mostly short songs with a female vocalist who was a great singer, but not the act we paid to see. We tell our kids that there are two kinds of humor: intelligent humor and cheap humor. Keillor has been very good at intelligent humor in the past, but this show was full of the unintelligent kind, and not in good taste. Felt hollow.

Hearing Garrison tell his tales and getting to do an audience singalong with him is absolutely joyous. Painful reminder of what's now missing on Prairie Home Companion. Someday this too will (woe)be gone (yeah--sloppy pun), so whenever you get the chance to see him in performance DO IT (all CAPS, underscore, hilite)!!!!

Mr. Keillor entranced the audience with stories of his youth and those familiar to the fans of "A Prarie Home Companion." He connected with his audience to a degree this concert-goer has rarely experienced. I marveled after being entertained by his stories for over two hours.

My fourth time seeing Garrison Keillor and it was fabulous. Two hours of non-stop hilarity mixed with nostalgia. My only regret is there weren't more youngsters in the crowd. I fear the art of listening is lost to the current generation of young people. Mr. Keillor's shows will remain in the highlights of my memories.

It was a wonderful evening. Intermission was a singalong of patriotic songs, hymns, Beatles, and others, and it was almost inspiring. He was so funny, as funny and ironic as I remember from A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION---except maybe for his prostate LOL. So nice to see younger people there. I would see him again. I love the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium.

In his signature red tie and red socks, Garrison Keillor brought the audience in Thomas Wolfe Auditorium to its feet with his "traditional sing-along" and stories of humorous characters! He always weaves a circle around each story, humorous in itself, tying each together with a common brilliant thread! A burst of genuine "belly-laughs of glee"! Good clean adult fun!!! Five-star rating!!!

We got isle seats with the hope he would come past us. Lucky us. He did and I got some' great pictures. Hope Garrison continues to do these traveling shows and enriching our lives with so many unforgettable stories and his personal relationship with the audience. Hope to see you again. I had always hoped to go to MN to see "A Prairie Home Companion" but was never able to make it. I'm so glad I was able to to make it to the "Love & Comedy Tour." Heather Masse added a rich, tender touch to the vocals; Rich Dworksy and his band were amazing (I could have listened to them all night!); Fred Newman was as much fun to watch as he was to listen to; and Garrison Keillor was even better in person. Time disappeared and when they announced an intermission at 9:20, I was amazed it was that late. I didn't care how late it went, I was staying until the end. I'm so glad I did! The stories that were shared in the second half had me laughing so hard my sides hurt. Thank you to all the performers for an absolutely lovely evening!

Mr. Keillor looked very sharp as he came onstage exactly at 7:30 PM. We started with the National Anthem which was meaningful to all Baltimoreans. Particularly enjoyed the ability of Mr. Keillor to begin a story and complete it after 20 minutes, holding the audience's attention for the entire time. It was fun to see Fred Noonan demonstrate how he made his signature sound effects. I did not realize that Rich Dworsky not only played the piano, but sang "KETCHUP". One of the big crowd pleasers was "Powder milk biscuits". Since many of the audience members were unable to even stomp their feet, I particularly enjoyed doing it for them. There was no intermission. Garrison took a ten minutes break off stage, while Heather Masse and the gang performed. Mr. Keillor seemed to appear out of nowhere, walking across the front row and up through the main aisle singing American favorites including Amazing Grace and Abide with Me.

Garrison Keillor is a master of calling up a time that never was but feels like it should have been. His stories and his voice are perfectly matched to evoke a feeling of nostalgia for small town America. The cast and crew worked well together and are all old hands at helping to create that atmosphere. I found that I really liked the "singing intermission" as well.

A truly fantastic show presented by a man with integrity and wholesomeness that one would have trouble finding anyone else to measure up. The show was a solid 3 hours long -- even the intermission was a stand-up sing-a-long with Garrison strolling along the aisles of Pier Six's audience leading old, old songs. Reminiscent . . . .

Garrison Keillor is simply an amazing storyteller and entertainer. His stories start with events that are common to all of us, then he takes you on a journey that should not be related, but somehow is, then back to the beginning. The troupe that works with him are also phenomenal and a perfect compliment to Mr. Keillor.

I have loved Garrison Keillor and the Prairie Home Companion since I found them in the mid 80's and then listened to them every week. I had a chance to see them a few years back in Hot Springs Arkansas which was great! But this last weekend at the Tivoli he not only helped us feel loved but put life in perspective as we awaited the arrival of Hurricane Irma in our area (I live in mid Alabama). He and his gang made me belly laugh, sometimes made me cry and of course he is still the master story teller he has always been. Boy howdy can Heather Masse sings and whistle. He came out into the audience and we started to sing together songs of America and some old generic hymns. It was all great!

This was a fitting anniversary special for the great Ryman Auditorium. Garrison shared the rich history of the Ryman, beginning with it's inception as the 'Union Gospel Tabernacle'. This was during a time that the Ryman was indeed a Gospel tabernacle hosting revivals, the first Southern Baptist Convention, and the Fisk Jubilee Singers. The Auditorium became a unique meeting place as it evolved, with historic moments: the real time play by play via telegraph of Vanderbilt v. Michigan Football from Ann Arbour; Election Returns given on Election Night providing for the first time in the history of Nashville returns given inside a building which allow women to attend. Some of the most famous personalities of the 20th Century appeared including Susan B. Anthony, Anna Held of the Zeigfeld Follies, Helen Keller and Anne Sullican Macy, and America s biggest film star Charlie Chaplin who visited the Ryman on April 18, 1918 to help sell bonds assisting the American troops during World War I. Two Presidents, Theodore Roosevelt and President William Howard Taft appeared at the Ryman with President Roosevelt speaking to standing ovation. This rich history accompanied by Ricky Skaggs, Fisk Jubilee Singers

An astonishing uninterrupted two hour visit with a man who, like Ray Kinsella s baseball field, reminds us of all that once was good and could be again. Although as he often mentioned he is now 75, he hasn t lost a step or a beat in his story telling and his baritone voice is richer than ever, particularly when leading the singalongs. Missing an opportunity to enjoy this show would be one of the great mistakes in your life.

For fans Prairie Home Companion this show is a great night out. Mr. Keillor's intellect, wit, humor, charm and storytelling was on full display. He even addressed the allegation of sexual harassment brought against him, giving details of what happened without throwing his accuser under the bus - thought that this was daring and insightful. To be able to entertain an audience by largely talking for 2 hours is amazing and just illustrates what a remarkable celebrity he is.

Sorry we went, we left at half time. Humor was good for the 15 minutes it lasted, then a young lady was brought out to duet on many songs that had little to do with anything. It was just a time filler. It takes all the pieces of the radio show to make this entertaining, and they were not there. Way over priced.

Whether on his own, or in the company of his regular performers, seeing Garrison is always a great experience. His performance and story telling was great as usual, and the addition of Heather Masse and Rich Dworsky made for a wonderful evening. This was my first time to the Hoyt Sherman Place, and the facility is gorgeous. I would give it 5 stars but I was a bit disappointed in the sound system. It was quite lifeless and tinny sounding, not natural and full like it should be in a venue like that. I think they ended the show a bit prematurely also when both the cordless mics they were using malfunctioned.

I feel weird saying this, but the show was too much of a good thing. I loved the stories but the middle part of the show where he sang with a young lady could have been half as long. The songs were too similar to have so many. And they went for almost 2 1/2 hours before intermission and no refreshment were being sold by the venue. We left at intermission.

Why would there only be pictures allowed for the 1st 5 min. When I saw the show in Cedar Rapids there were no such restrictions. I was seated in the in one of the 1st rows and was scolded by the camera witch, there were a lot of people taking pictures all around me. I was not using a flash, but they were and they did not get a talking to. The Show was great. Garrison delivered as always. I like to just sit back and listen to his voice as he tells a story and I swear I can see all the thing that he is talking about. He has funny facial expressions as he talks. Wasn't sure what to expect - similar to "Prairie Home Companion"? variety show? Didn't even consider that he would talk for two hours - but he did and it was GREAT! The audience (99% over 60) was held spellbound and laughing out loud. Genius delivery. Interspersed with audience participation of singing along with him on a few "oldies". He's 75 folks. If you get a chance to enjoy him, don't miss it. It helped make up my having missed Elvis. Hmmm . . I wonder what Keillor would have to say about that comparison!

Postponed our move date so we could see Garrison one more time. He graces Asheville with his work every couple of years and I ve been fortunate to catch him each time. Went to the live broadcast of his former radio show several times while living in NY. You will not find a better story teller or writer, a richer imagination, a more soothing voice, funnier, intelligent man than Garrison Keillor. Had the pleasure to meet him after the show and what impressed me the most was how present he was with each guest. One of a kind talent and one of a kind gentleman. ❤️

A full, delightful three-hour show with stories, songs and more. GK duets with Heather Masse were excellent, Fred Newman was exceptional, and GK's stories were innovative and entertaining. A big disappointment though was that the show had been described as featuring Guy Noir and also The Cowboys, which would indicate that Tim Russell and Sue Scott would be part of the show. Russell and Scott were not present and those skits did not happen. Otherwise, a fun evening.

I have seen Garrison a couple of times before but this by far was the best. The singing and story telling was over the top. I'm amazed at his ability to keep you interested and laughing all night. Great show!!!

You know the say " Lake Wobegon - where all the women are strong, all the men are good looking and all the kids are above average" - well was he right or what ? He can sing , he can make you cry - when he talk about his father, he can make you laugh and also he can make you sing , "Silent night" in September. When he talks looks like his is talking to you and you only, when he sings sounds like he is serenading you and you only you, and when he is telling his jokes - like the one with the 25 Lutheran priests walking on water - you can actually see it happening in front of you! Thank you for an amazing night, and by night I mean the show and I will see you again !

Garrison Keillor is one of a kind. The show is not exactly Prairie Home Companion, but is is Garrison Keillor. I did miss hearing the news from Lake Wobegon, Guy Noir, the Lives of the Cowboys, and so on, but it was nice seeing Fred Newman playing a larger role. Richard Dworsky and company are amazing as always. This is pure live entertainment at its' best!

This was Garrison Kellor at his finest. Wonderful stories accompanied by terrific sound effects. The music was excellent and the vocals outstanding. I was especially moved when Garrison Kellor lead the audience in a singalong during intermission. We sang songs that we all know and love. I recommend this show to everyone! I will always remember "21 pastors in a pontoon boat". You have to see the show to understand.

Had a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a gentleman that I have been listening to on the radio for the last 12 years. 75 years old and still kicking it. What a great time.

Nice smaller venue with a lot of dining options close by. The weather was perfect and it was a short walk from the parking to the seats. The show was three hours long and blended Garrison's wisdom, humor, and music into a very enjoyable performance.

Garrison Keillor's "Love and Comedy" tour was amazing. We expected the great stories - and they were as expected. We expected the great band and vocals and sound effects...and they didn't disappoint. But we were amazed at the energy and commitment to the event that Garrison displayed! The opening song [that he composed as he walked around the crowd] was so welcoming. And after two hours...when we thought the event was over... he called for an intermission! Did he go backstage to rest for a few minutes? No! He came back into the audience and invited all of us to join him in a sing-along...encouraging four part harmony...which we haven't heard in a group setting for far too long. It was just beautiful! And then proceeded to continue entertaining us all with his troupe for another hour!! Thank you for a show we will always remember.

I attended this show at an outdoor amphitheater and found the entire program to be marvelous! Garrison was in good form and his supporting entourage were exceptional. This is a show that could easily pass for a 1940's era radio program. Garrison is good on the Prairie Home Companion radio broadcasts; he is even better live and in-person. Don't hesitate - this is one show you will thoroughly enjoy!

Wow! Three full hours of entertainment including Garrison walking about the audience and leading us all in song, stories and music. "Refugees" from the PHC show rounded out the band, and we had the wonderful Fred for sound effects. Singer (and whistler) Heather was so good - I would go see her in her own show. Even if the show had ended at the "intermission" I would have gotten my money's worth and would not hesitate to recommend.

Had a great time with my wife listening to one of America's profound storytellers and entertainers. Always great to see his intimacy with the audience as he strolled through the audience and led us in song... Wish NPR would just put him back on his show... Also, ate at the Oakland University golf club pre-game -- run by Opus One -- great food and very convenient...

the show was tremendous. On a scale of 1 to 10 i would give it a 3000. Garriison kept telling his stories and they were rather self contained between other entertainment. finally near the end of the show he started what proved to be a near hour long Tale From Lake Woebegone. In this tale he smoothly wove in every other story he had told that night (I pray this was recorded in some manner and I will be able somehow to get a copy) The tale involved an first love who had died. Suffice to say it involved her ashes, his Aunts ashes, a Green Bowling ball, a glider, a hot air balloon, 24 Lutheran minsters , a pontoon boat, a guy wearing red speedos caring the green bowling ball and, above all else, so much laughter, that i had to gasp and just rock back and forth in my total glee. I have never been so entertained by humor, the brilliant mind that could interweave this complex story. If he has another concert anywhere near me; I will happily go.

Garrison Keillor performed for 3 straight hours. At intermission, he said he wanted to keep on singing, so he walked through the audience leading us in group singalongs. I smiled the entire concert. I am sad it took me this long to finally see him "Live" -- I have been a radio and book fan for years !

Garrison Keillor is a consummate storyteller, easy to listen to singer, personable down-to-earth performer, along with his very fun sound-effects man, and talented band. What is not to like? He had us sing old tunes all through the intermission, without him ever taking a break. The 3 hours flew by in a blink of an eye. He is a genuine American icon.

Garrison Keillor has not missed a step in his stage presence since retirement. If anything he has come back stronger, wittier, and vibrant than ever. Maybe the grind of a weekly show for all those years and the stroke he suffered caught up with him. And, the fact he is always on stage for the entire show, not counting the times he walks out amongst the audience and engages us in old time songs, hymnal and patriotic as they are, everyone is entertained. The only reason I did not give the show 5 stars was the seating. Our seats were 2 rows behind the audio board and the guy stood in front of us the entire length of the show. If another seat was available we would have moved, except the venue was sold out.

I had only been listening to Garrison for about five years when my husband introduced me to his radio show and then he retired! I was so sad. My husband heard that he was on tour and we jumped at the chance to get tickets in our town! I wasn't sure what to expect because I have never been to a show of that type but it was the most fun I have had ever had a show! Ever. I absolutely loved it and would go again and again! So much love and talent and good old fashion commonsense. It was just fantastic!!!

The entire crew was Amazing and most especially Mr. Keillor. Listening to him sing, tell his stories and work with the other performers is like sitting with him, at home, in the living room. Setting this performance at The Santa Fe Opera House, although a large performance space, still felt very intimate.

The best, most crowd-interactive concert/show ever. Garrison's personal involvement and memory/performing skill were phenomenal. Fred Newman is a unique national treasure. Rich Dworski and the guys are beyond amazing. This was the highest level of professionalism.

Loved the show, he started out by walking into the audience while singing and asked us to sing along....the show was mostly Garrison singing in his beautiful baritone voice, accompanied by a young pregnant singer at times, and the audience too...He didn't do Guy Noire which I missed and I'm not a fan of loud "kazoos" which his sound effects guy did ....BUT that sound effects guy is sooo talented, he sang a song too and played a "jawharp"...I just wish this show had lasted longer! Btw, At intermission he just kept going and asked us to sing along as he walked amongst us again...how does he do it at 75? Have to mention the beautiful SanteFe sun was setting behind the stage during the performance -- just MAGICAL!!!

First let me say that I had not followed or listened to any of Garrison Keillor's shows on the radio or on DVDs or CDs. I know who he was but that was it. That said I was overwhelmed by how much I enjoyed his show at the Santa Fe Opera on Sunday. He entertained the crowd for just over three hours non-stop. Even during the intermission he was leading the crowd in sing-along songs - like Can't Help Falling in Love, Silent Night, etc. It was a feel-good show. Garrison is an American treasure. He is 75 years old and he is saying that this is his farewell tour. He is a wonderful storyteller - simply amazing that he can remember all the details at his age. He had his fans rolling in the aisles especially with his witty lines and he was so funny with the local humor about Santa Fe and Albuquerque. If you are a fan of Keillor be sure to catch him at any of his shows. If you're not a fan like I was before, take a chance and see him. I loved his humor and singing so much I'm planning on driving five hours down to El Paso to see him again!

I enjoyed the show. Garrison had a great troupe of musicians with him and the music was wonderful. Three hours later the show was over and we wondered where the time had gone. I hadn't been a fan when I was younger, so I didn't know what to expect. I do love his Lake Wobegon monologues and I was hoping to hear a lot of that. It was more like a radio show, and mostly music, and mostly Garrison singing. I didn't know he was such a singer. The woman who accompanied him was excellent. She did a sweet solo, The Lakes of Pontchartrain. The man who did all the sound effects was pretty good. Before the show, and again during the intermission, Garrison went into the audience and led everyone in a sing-along of hymns and patriotic music. The venue was wonderful. The Santa Fe Opera House is open (on the sides) to the weather, and we had a beautiful evening.
