Absolutely FANtastic. I've been waiting to see this show since 1973. Ian Anderson was excellent. Although time waits for no man, he still has sufficient finger dexterity to play note-perfect, even while standing on only one foot (intentionally). Catch this tour while you can. Add seeing him live, to your "bucket list" like I did. Worth it.

His hair is just about gone and you might say the same about his voice. I speak of Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, the main man and only continuous band member for 50 years, and according to the Summerfest app, over 3,000 live performances spanning the globe. Tull appeared at the BMO Harris Pavilion during opening night of Summerfest last night and I attended the show (my 17th) of either Tull or Ian Anderson along with a friend who was seeing them for the 46th time. The music played was primarily from the first 10 years of the band and the 90 minute set (quite possibly the shortest of all the times I've seen them), with the "newest" song being Songs From The Wood, released in 1977. Ian did most of the vocals, and the wear and tear of non-stop touring certainly was on display as he had some difficulty hitting some of the higher notes. He used some pre-recorded vocals that came from a giant video screen at the back of the stage, something I've seen at previous Ian/Tull shows. I can only speculate, but Ian is a proud man and I'll fathom a guess that he has trouble passing the baton to a fulltime lead vocalist, despite indications he may no longer be able to carry the load himself anymore. Ian's flute playing magic was also on display in abundance along with additional work on guitar and harmonica. He is an amazing musician and the crowd was very enthusiastic towards his performance. Yet, when they played "Too Old To Rock 'N Roll, Too Young To Die" I was thinking that this may finally be true. The current tour continues back and forth from the U.S. to Europe and other locations all over the world. I'd like to know how many frequent flyer miles he has. It has to be a lot! Rumors have it that after this tour, 2019 has Ian working on his biography without any touring involved, and there is also at least one more album supposedly going to be released. Whether it is released as an Ian Anderson or Jethro Tull album has yet to be announced. (I'll put my money on it being an Ian album.) One other noteworthy bit of info is the lack of participation by a key member of the Tull glory years, Martin Barre. Several of the songs were introduced by video clips from the 36 total members who has played with the band at one time or another in the past. Martin played guitar during the time the biggest albums of the Tull catalog was released. His absence was conspicuous. Supposedly he didn't want to tour anymore but has toured with a band of his own name. It would not surprise me if he and Ian had a falling out that right now makes any sort of future reunion unlikely. I've always enjoyed seeing the band and hope the opportunity to see them again down the road presents itself. My gut feeling is last nights' performance was the last time I'll see them play live. I hope I'm wrong.

Being their 50th anniversary, I kept my expectations in place but was blown out of the water by the energy and talent that has stood the test of time! I have seen the band numerous times over the years and this was one of the best!

Who is Ian Hunter? The warm up band was pretty lousy although some folks around us seemed to enjoy it. Jethro Tull was good, but far from great. The classics were terrific, but the set was bogged down by some turkeys like "Night in Budapest". The audio, particularly on Ian Anderson's microphone, was horrible. All the words were garbled.

I thought opening act Ian Hunter did a fine job and was very entertaining, till he neglected to play "All the young Dudes" as a encore... Then Tull Hit the stage and well... I instantly revised my review of the opening act. If they were and 8 then Tull was a 28! I have seen just about every major rock act in the past 36 years and I cannot say I have ever heard a band that sounded this good, instumentally speaking. Rush are a close second. Although Ian Anderson's voice is a bit strained sounding he manages it well and more than makes up for it with his stage movements and of brilliant musicianship. I would see them again tommorow if I could. Bottom line - don't expect the exact same voice from 30 years ago and you will not be diasppointed.

Excellent show, excellent opening act, and excellent venue. Enjoyable evening with the masters of classic rock. Though Ian Anderson couldn't hit some of the vocal highs as in many years past he more than made up for it with his flute and showmanship. A totally enjoyable evening.

Unfortunately, the sound system was not good, the venue was poorly organized--the seats were not marked and there was no one available to ask, so we just sat where ever we wanted, which was okay, the band sucked, his voice really sucked, the flute playing was good, though. Anyone else have this experience???

This was an incredible night of magic. Ian Anderson was at his best as he danced his way over the stage. Maybe it's the salmon but this man has incredible stamina and more energy than should be allowed anyone no matter their age. He hasn't lost a step and his vocals were as good as any of the previous times i have seen him and that spans the 40 years that we celebrated over dry skies Wednesday night at Red Rocks! Everyone in the band gets 5 out of 5 stars for their wonderful performance in my book. Outstanding acoustic set and when it came time to rock they brought it. Magnificent evening!!!

I think Jetrhro Tull & Procol Harem put on a wonderful show. They still have it in them to sing & play like 40-45yrs ago. I enjoyed the music & the CMAC was a great place to see a concert. The only thing that disappointed me was that Jethro Tull didn't play his hits from the 70's. I was looking forward to hearing a lot of his songs from the Aqualung album & Thick as a Brick. He only played 2 songs that sounded familiar to me. However he still does play the flute tremendously! Procol Harem did play the 2 songs that I loved by him & they sounded great!(those were the only hits he had in the 60's-70's) I would see them again if they came to town.

Opening night in the cool but comfortable arts performing center was opening act with Procol Harum. They played before an attentive crowd most of the their familiar tunes. Then after a brief intermission, Jethro Tull came out with Nothing Is Easy and A New Day Yesterday from Stand Up. The musicianship was tight..Ian's voice seemed a bit better in the higher ranges. Of course near the end was the Aqualung/Teacher/Locomotive Breath as an encore. Was a very nice night..thanks Ian and the boys...and of course the venue was great too...

Great Show by two great Classic Bands. Procol Harum led by Gary Brooker opened and played for one hour their greatest hits plus 2 songs from their last CD released in 2003. Gary Brooker voice is still very strong and the band was tight and very enjoyable to watch. The audience was well aware of Procol's history and gave them a standing ovation. Jethro Tull, while the set was shorter than usual, played a strong set. This is the 3rd time I have seen them in a week and while not as strong as they were at Jones Beach they played well. Ian's voice is holding up and actually seems stronger than in the past 10 years. They played two new songs plus a classic written by Henry VIII, otherwise the set consisted of the basic songs they have been playing on their past tours over the past decade. Some different songs would be nice considering the fact that most people going to see them are probably ones who see them every time they tour the States.

Always the hallmark of a great band when their live versions are better than the great studio versions! Seen Tull in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, in large arenas, outdoors, and in smaller venues - the tent in Boston sounds great. Ian's voice is showing its age, so he has gone to a new interpretation of the vocals which still works for me, and he went as far as to show that he could still caper about with the flute as good as ever. Martin was - Martin! Still capable of playing anything to suit the mood, and he was really in to his fret last night. Noticed many fans of the older material sitting with their hands in their laps for the newer and recent material, but it all rocked too! I talked to some 20-somethings before the show and they didnt know what to expect, so i told them that Tull was going to rock harder and louder than any metal, grunge, or head-banging band they had ever seen - and still be musical! Afterwards they agreed "it was a fair assessment"...8-) The only negative I could see was that the house mix seemed a bit muddy for the vocals, which were buried in the basses...

After a long cold winter to be BACK at the beach - Opening night was just about as wonderful a evening as anyone would want, "Perfect Concert Weather" and a respectful showing by the fans, although expecting a sell out is not what this night was about yet I was pleased with the turnout - MUSIC - so beautifully performed - both bands are in the pocket as they say, sharp, tight and not at all seem to be going through the paces of an auto pilot, they came to play and play they did - I was hoping to here from JT Too Old to Rock and Roll, something more from Songs from the Wood aside from the title track and Bungle in the Jungle would have been great too.

Great show! Could have done without the rain. No bother. The show must go on! The TULL set started around 9:20pm, after it appeared that the people in charge of the show would not let the Ian Hunter Band perform an encore. Ian Hunter started at 8:05pm (5 mins. late maybe?) Tull began their set with Cross-Eyed Mary and then Beggar's Farm. A surprise for me. I thought what next? Dahrma for One? They played a lot of older stuff like Nothing is Easy, A New Day Yesterday, My God, Songs From the Wood and Jack in the Green. Budapest was the youngest "TULL" song that was played. They finished the set with Aqualung. Locomotive Breath was the encore. Along with the incomparable mainstays of Ian Anderson, Martin Lancelot Barre and Doane Perry, David Goodier on Bass and John O Hara on keys , excellent musicians in their one right, put on one heck of a show. If you are TULL fan, you must go to this show. An extra bonus for me was finally being able to see Ian Hunter in concert. Thumbs Up from this TULL fan!

I try to see Tull every time they are around, now up to about 35 times. As this show was the first of the new tour, Ian's voice sounded great as opposed to the last time I saw him. I still will never get his song selection though, We are mostly older fans and we want to hear the classics. The fact that he did a 10 minute song about India and a 10 minute version (maybe not that long but it felt it) of Budapest and NOTHING off of WarChild or Thick as a Brick was dissappointing. He did the ususals, opened with Cross eyed mary and closed with Locomotive Breath, and stuck Aqualung in the middle. Did a nice version of Jack in the Green and Songs from the Woods. but I would have preferred older stuff.

The show was a good double bill with Ian Hunter opening the show promptly at 8pm. Jethro Tull was in excellent form. Martin Barre ripping out the riffs and Ian Anderson with his usual antics with the flute, and even some harmonica and guitar. It started to dirzzle a bit after about the first three songs into the Tull performance, and pretty much continued throughout. But we didn't really get very wet at all.

I've been a Tull/Ian Anderson fan over 40 years (yeah, most of the journey). I get that Tull as a band was pretty much retired after the 40th anniversary shows and that Ian, being the primary songwriter, has wanted to escape the constraints of a product that was out to pasture. However, over the past decade, Anderson has put a pretty good touring band to carry on the legacy and to perform new music and ideas. But when you decide to call this travesty "Jethro Tull," it's pretty much becoming like other acts endless farewell tours. First, Anderson's voice has been shaky for years. It's one of the reasons he brought in Ryan O'Donnell to perform the TAAB shows and the Homo Erraticus tour. Now it's clear that his voice is shot, but instead of having a talented performer do those parts, we have to endure shaky backup singing by the keyboard and bass players, in addition to the recorded vocals done for the "Jethro Tull, the Musical" tour. Add to this lyrics have been mysteriously altered for no good reason. (Heavy Horses, the most blatent example.) Further, I'm all for playing around with arrangements to keep the show interesting, but to alter tracks to accomodate the limitations of your performers? Give it a rest. Drummer Scott Hammond clearly couldn't carry a beat in a paper bag and his ineptitude was spotlighted on Dharma For One. Thankfully, the rest of the band (including Ian's flute and bazouki) were the saving grace for this night in Toronto. Guitarist Florian Opahle continues to amaze. Now in his 30s, Florian has been playing with Anderson since he was a teen and clearly is the second coming of Martin Barre (who? more on that later....) Bassist David Goodier is solid, but doesn't have the presence of any of Tull's prior bass players (Noyce, Pegg, Glascock, and on and on). He's pretty much musical wallpaper. And while David O'Hara certainly looks the part of all the mad scientists who have been behind the keys over the decades, again, no stage presence. And again, because Ian's voice is gone, more instrumentals have been added to the show, Bouree, of course. A solo by Florian on another Bach piece, Toccato en Fugue, where he channelled a heavy metal Al Di Meola. But the biggest surprise was a piece by Heny VIII, he of the many wives, Passed Time In Good Company aka King Henry's Madrigal. But for the most part, songs were speeded up or shortened, it was like Jethro Tull, the Opera was being playing by Green Day. The first set was 9 songs and lasted 45 minutes! For a 50th anniversary show, the only tips of the cap to, ahem, Living In The Past, were video intros to songs by three early Tull members and tributes by Joe Bonamassa and inexplicably, Slash. Additionally, Anderson made absolutely no mention of Martin "I was In the Band for 40 F'ing Years" Barre, but there was an intro by a guy who played ONE song with Tull, Tony Iommi!!! No mention of any of the late 70's players. Nor David Pegg who was with the band nearly 20 years. This is an utter slap in the face to any true Tull fan--No acknowledgement of those musicians who built that legacy. Save your money. Go see Martin Barre's band this fall if you want to see how the Tull legacy is truly being handled. Sorry, Ian, but either retire the voice and bring in a competent singer, or just stick to instrumental records.

The venue was awful. The wait to get in was ridiculous and the concessions outrageously expensive. I would not go there again for a concert. The band was tight as usual and the format of the concert was interesting but Ian just can't sing any longer. Now, I am a huge Tull fan having seen them in their various iterations at least a dozen times but Ian needs his young protege to do the heavy lifting vocally. He can still be the main guy as his instrumentals are still outstanding and maybe do a little singing but this particular concert vocally was very rough.

Ian definitely has a thing for the video screen. In his rock opera he took it too far, and as a whole, that show was awful. Because of that we were prepared to take this show or leave it, hoping for the best. Yes, Ian has lost a bit off the top of that youthful voice, but accommodates it well. He is still a showman, and he and the rest of Jethro Tull put on an enjoyable show. I can definitely recommend this show.

Jethro Tull put on a good show. However, even though we arrived over an hour before start time, due to massively long parking lines and security check-in lines at venue, the show started before we got to the amphitheatre entrance gate. And we were not allowed in. Apparently this is a thing with Ian Anderson? He doesn't allow the gatekeepers to let anyone in during the first few songs? I didn't quite catch everything the gatekeepers were saying, but there was quite a crowd of us wanting in and they wouldn't let us in. Told us they were sorry, it wasn't them, it was Ian Anderson's policy. Finally after 2-3 songs, they told us we could go around to the back entrance to the seating area and get in that way. So - I am not sure what to say. I thought it was kind of messed up, personally. The main take-away lesson here - go EARLY. Earlier than you would normally go, if you are going to see Jethro Tull anywhere. Because if you're late, through no fault of your own, you won't be allowed in. (I'm guessing they finally allowed people in, but am not sure when - intermission maybe?)

If you were a fan of Jethro Tull back in the day, there is some rocking nostalgia here. Don t bring your kids or grandkids, musically there are highlights, but overall you need to appreciate their age and music and history to groove it. They did a nice job working around Ian s aging windpipes reducing his range. Too much muscle memory to play these flute parts in a different (lower) key so kudos to finding other solutions with videos. Overall I am definitely glad I went. The bands decision to ban all photos/videos was awful though. If you stand in line for 2 hours and pay the better part of a hundred dollars for tickets you should be able to take a picture without security threatening to kick you out.

Although frontman Ian Anderson's voice range was limited, he still nails the blues harp and his timeless, unique flute. His current band, like all his former players makes his shows a must see! It was an amazing concert, a visit with songs from long ago. The Tull 50th anniversary tour was as I expected and wanted. They played a lot of music covering their long career, including many of the songs from the first few albums. Ian Anderson is still playing an amazing flute and he is still very active for a 70 year old. As you can hear from others, he blew his voice out in the mid-80's on a long tour and never fully recovered. His voice was nearly perfect at the start of the concert and was strained toward the end. The backdrop videos were impressive and the accolades from other musicians introducing the songs were a special surprise. I've seen Tull probably 20 times over the years and they never disappoint. Here's to 50 more years!

Ian Anderson can still bring it even though he is in his seventies. The band played songs from the sixties through the eighties. The band has been through 36 members over the years & this version was great. I m sure most fans would have preferred they play more of the well known songs, but it wouldn t have fit the theme of the tour. Anderson hasn t lost a bit on his flute. The songs did seem a bit slower than originally played. It was a great night to remember those old songs from the old days.

50 years later and he's still got it. He starts with his early years, working his way up to his classic albums. He could have played more of his classic songs though considering how many great songs are under his belt. He could have kept going to his later years, but he kinda stopped halfway through at the top of his career. Great concert anyway, bringing back old memories spanning from 5 decades of hits...

I ve been to many Jethro Tull shows dating back to the mid 70s. This was a very nice snapshot of their career. My one disappointment was they played nothing from Stormwatch, my favorite Tull album. Other than that, very nice selection Ian\u2018s voice range is obviously in it s twilight. It was nice to see him utilize some technology and back up singers The technology is there to assist his ability to hit some notes. I wish he would use them. He certainly needs no help with his musicianship. Still incredible.

His voice is a bit rough but I never heard him live before. His energy, flute playing, spirit are inspiring. Had one of the best times at a concert ever.

The last time I saw Jethro Tull was in 1971 when they released Aqualung, and I have to say they still have it! Very good show, and Daily's Place is an awesome new venue!

The music was great. The new guitarist doesn't have Marty Barre's sound, but he is a great guitarist. It was a great show. The acoustics at dailys place was not very good. I would rate the show 5 out of 5 stars. I'd rate the venue somewhere between 2 to 3 stars.

I had never seen Jethro Tull and really looked to hearing them live. Our seats were in the middle of the balcony and had a good view. However, I'm 6'1" with a sore knee from years of jogging and the leg room was very bad. I felt very uncomfortable for the first set, so much so, that I moved to open seats near the back where I could stretch and move around. The musicians and song selection were great; however, Ian Anderson couldn't carry a tune. I hope this was a temporary affliction but, if it's not, he needs to stick to his flute and guitar playing and get another vocalist to carry most of the singing load.

I guess I was hoping for the old Jethro Tull and that just wasn't possible! Ian Anderson can play the flute like no one else and that part was great but his voice wasn't as good. I can understand but didn't expect so much instrumental music - I wanted to hear Cross-Eyed Mary, Too Old to Rock and Roll, and other classics. There were a few, but having another singer (who sounded just like Ian) sing much of Aqualung just wasn't what I hoped I would experience. The music was solid and Anderson as animated as expected! I would recommend for friends who know what to expect in terms of old Tull songs. It was a very enjoyable evening even if not what I expected.

I can see from an artists perspective, they are tired of playing songs they have played 1,000's of times and also want to get their new material out for $$ - But with a classic band like Tull, older stuff is what they want to hear. Only vintage songs they did was aqualung and locomotive breath, thats it. I was shocked they didn't play at least cross eyed mary, too old for rock n roll and maybe thick as a brick. Even the encore was new material, me and my friends were disappointed, though his new stuff is very listenable. I liked the big screen thing with the hot singing chick, was watching her more than Tull.

The concert went 100 minutes without opening act or intermission. They skipped two songs (Slipstream and Wind Up) from Aqualung. I wish those and more of the old classics could have been included, but what there was was great.

Jethro Tull at the Mountain Winery was a perfect show. Even after 40 years, Tull are still at the top of their game musically. In addition to the thrilling musical performance, Ian Anderson's witty banter with the audience was always entertaining. Set all of this in the beautiful venue that is the Mountain Winery, with a delicious dinner on the Winery Deck before the show, and comfortable seats from which the watch the show, and this show will remain a shining memory of a perfect concert experience. Seeing our favorite artists at the Mountain Winery is such a pleasant experience that we can't imagine ever returning to a sports arena venue.

It was a KICK-ASS show that also delivers at least one message - practice makes perfect - they did a variety of tunes from every album, some exact, others with a twist, but each one was soo absolutely tight, the essence of BEING A BAND!!! Not even slightly bored at any point during the show!! I love the combination of hard rock and flute! I also played in a band with a lead singer/floutist/acoustic guitar/sax player named Robert Barry Leech, and the band was BLUEBEARD. Album released in 1979. We were all extremely influenced by Tull. I really hope they keep playing, and would like to hear some new tunes!! Loved 'Crest of a Knave', and Martin's guitar mixed again with Ian's flute. Absolutely Superb!!!

I will keep this short and sweet. I know... Your welcome. I am a big fan of J.T. I've seen them many times and have everything by them. Putting aside their age, tedious touring schedule and any other excuses, I found this show to be lackluster. No Ooomph. This was not an acoustic show, but felt like J.T. "Lite". My main complaint for the evening was that the show was promoted as the 40th. Anniversary of Aqualung. It was advertised in print and verbally ahead of time that they would perform the Entire Aqualung album as the main feature for the concert. To me that means from the first song to the last, in sequence, just like the original album. Well, they did do most of the songs from the album, however, mumbo-jumbled throughout the show. Variations of the songs were performed which were interesting and entertaining, but I was ready for the real deal. The seats were very good. The sound was very good. The crowd was ok, other than the usual idiots standing and dancing, hootin' and hollerin' and basically ruining it for the other true fans around them. In an interview Ian Anderson was quoted as disliking these people that do this at improper times of the show. Yes, I am keeping this short and sweet. Overall I give this show a " C+" on the RobReportCard scale. Yes... Barry & Mike agree. (I assume). Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

My first time seeing the Red Rocks Amphitheater which was beautiful. Then to see 2 legendary groups there was fantastic. Kansas can still put on a great show. But Jethro Tull was an surreal experience. My 3rd time seeing them and they are all performing at a high level. They opened with Thick as a Brick and performed several hits such as Farm on the Freeway, and Songs from the Woods, Then they moved in to the Aqualung album for the 40th anniversary performance. The worse thing I could say is they ended the show promptly at 10:30 and performed no encore. Supposedly this is a rule for Red Rocks on week nights. To dampen a legendary rock band for some dumb rule is an outrage. So starting earlier might have been nice. But this was an experience I'll remember for a LONG time.

They just keep going and going. It doesn't get much better than Jethro Tull, paragons of classic and progressive rock. Even in their mid-60s, frontmen Ian Anderson and Martin Barre show no signs of slowing down.

Great show. Kansas obviously is slightly different without the original lead singer but the rest of the band is very tight and their drummer is one of the best on the planet IMHO. Tull was an amazing experience but short in duration (Done by 10:30). Ian Anderson's voice has suffered a little through the years but his flute playing was absolutely stunning and the rest of the band is incredibly talented as well with the possible exception of their drummer. He was certainly OK but after seeing the drummer from Kansas he was a slight letdown.

Ian Anderson still plays flute amazingly well. Last 2 songs Agualung and Locomotive Breath were great. Only issue was the video that did not arrive on time and Ian made it clear he was unhappy with Live Nation saying they must not have read the blanking contract. Too bad for the fans!

It took a half hour to get through the gate. Tull did not have a warm up band. 7:30 meant 7:30. We missed half of the first set. Ian had a lot of prerecorded music. Seems he has lost his voice. The show was very good and Ian is so talented. It was not the Jethro Tull of the studio or live stage of the early 70's. Seemed like a little watered down version of what I expected. First time at this venue and I was not impressed. very poor sound system. Do not know if it was the bands equipment or the theaters.Could not take a picture. do not Know if it is the artist's request or theater rules. I did not want to film a documentary for distribution rights. A single cell phone remembrance should not hurt.Come on 5 dollars for water and 15 dollars for beer when it is 93 degrees in the sun is greedy.I paid 165 dollars for two tickets and I left feeling abused.

It was great seeing Jethro Tull but will never go to Freedom Hill Ampitheater (Michigan Lottery Theater) again. The security people were obnoxious! Kicking people out for taking a quick photo of Jethro Tull who by the way is 71 years old and the average age of the patrons was 60-65. Us seniors were certainly no threat but were treated as such. Rude security guys ruined the show!

He started out with a song from when he first started out, & had some former bandmates talk to him in a video form.. He then kept moving thru the years with his songs, & telling a bit about each one. The pictures on the big screen were some old shots of the various band members. From the reaction of the people in attendance, everyone was thrilled with the show. I would highly recommend it!!!!!

Great venue, great music, BUT lead singer can t sing anymore, literally - he had someone on the back screen sing most of Aqualung, which was the main reason we went... I will say though, lead singer could still keep his breath for harmonica and flute, no problem... My only gripe as I did enjoy the show, just feel that if you can no longer sing full songs and need a person on a screen to assist in the singing, the cost per ticket should have been less. $575 for 3 tickets... should have been more like $150-$200 per

Comment one... The venue/Four Winds. A flat floor room with chairs. Heaven help you if someone tall sits in front of you. We had two. A couple. He maybe 6'5,and she maybe 6'3. I really didn't pay to watch Ian on the screen, but that is what I had to do. Comment two.... Ian's flute playing was spectacular. Timing, creativity, showmanship. Wonderful.... That being said, his vocals were stunningly bad. I'm not sure if there is a medical condition, but the timing, and fluidity were nowhere to be found. I know the songs, so I could remember them as he tried to sing them. I felt bad for my wife who didn't know them. Ian is such a fantastic flautist and showman he just needs to step back from his ego a bit and let capable singers do the vocals. He could go on for years then.

Excellent show. The venue was good, sound was excellent. the theatre could have been a little cooler, but considering how hot and humid it was outside, it was ok. Not really a fan of walking through the smoky casino to get to the event, wish they had a separate entrance just for the shows. But I get it, they want you to gamble away your money before/after the show. Tull was great.

I attended just so that I could say 'farewell' to Ian Anderson one last time. However the show was a disappointment. It has been a few years since I saw Ian Anderson, and I realize that age wins out in the end. He cannot sing any longer. If he's smart he'll hang up touring after this 50th anniversary celebration of Jethro Tull. This was supposed to be a celebration of the members who played with Ian in Jethro Tull over the past 50 years. However, Martin Barre, the lead guitarist for 43 of those years was barely mentioned! The supporting musicians are adequate, but it is really Ian's show. For a man of 70, he still can entertain. The flute playing was excellent, and it almost makes up for the voice deficiencies. While the video board was an interesting addition, but the band had to synchronize all of the music to it. Thus, there was no spontaneity or improvisation. Because of the video screen behind the band, the lighting of the musicians in the front was dim. Many times, Ian or the soloists were playing in the dark. The lyrics to some of the songs have changed and made politically correct. I had read some reviews of the leg of his show earlier this spring when it played in Great Britain. Many songs were cut out, leaving this show at only 90 minutes long instead of the expected two hours. "Thick As A Brick" was drastically cut down to about 5 minutes (or less)!. No "Living in the Past", "Solstice Bells" or "A Passion Play" - series of tunes I would have enjoyed seeing live. This might have been due to the Summerfest curfew. Other bands at the festival played short sets as well. The BMO Harris Pavilion is a nice outdoor venue, by itself. The sightlines were good, and the acoustics were fine. However, this concert was held during Summerfest, when way too many people try to cram into a very small space containing a huge amphitheater and 10 (or more) other stages. Access to the festival site is a nightmare. A mediocre show and the chaos of Summerfest gives this show a thumbs down.

I believe this is my 8th or 9th time seeing Jethro Tull/ Ian Anderson and the concert was as amazing now as it was to the ones of the 70s. It was a beautiful night at Summerfest/ BMO stage and the sound control was absolutely superb. Not too loud but perfect!.... and it sounded like we were in a recording studio. Thank you Mr. Ian Anderson for bringing your 50th show to Summerfest in Wisconsin. Your flute playing is simply amazing. All the classics under one roof. Your band is outstanding and thanks for sharing the memories of all the other 36 or more members of the Jethro Tull band with the audience. Looking forward to your next tour and hoping for many more. Thank you! PS. I heard many people comment behind us that they have not seen a concert this good in many years also.
