Great Christmas tradition to go see the Nutcracker Ballet. It was FANTASTIC!! May have been far away but could see the stage perfectly.

Swan Lake was amazing. I took my daughter (who loves ballerinas right now) and we both thought it was a beautiful display. It was as if we were watching a painting come to life. I STRONGLY recommend the Milwaukee Ballet to anyone of any age who is interested or wants to check it out maybe for the first time. Excellent performance!!

As a 51 year old male, who has never been To a ballet, I have to say I was surprised how Much I enjoyed it.

Took my 7 year old daughter and my mother to the Nutcracker as a christmas present. The preformance and music was amazing! The set and the props were all beautifully designed and very attractive. Many of the dances took my breath away and my daughter sat there with her mouth hanging open in amazement. Highly recommend to anyone, is a great holiday classic!

The event was spectacular. We have been to the show for at least the past 5 years and this year may be the best yet.

A little different from the traditional Nutcracker that we saw 20-some years ago. The colors were brighter, the backdrops more beautiful. I think it was lovely and a wonderful way to spend a Christmas season Saturday night with my daughters and granddaughter. Definitely a must-see!

A bit confusing first half, too much activity and movement for this 55 year old grandma, but the second half was better. Nice comedy touch throughout. Music impecable. Scenery and costumes first rate. Story feels like Nutcracker but with extra story lines, less formal dancing, more crisscross movement of people and scenery, the stage is full and very active. Beautiful, inviting and a must see. Delights the eyes and ears and imagination.

Awesome event. The nutcracker was a gift to my wife for our 16 year wedding anniversary! She was delighted with the opening and the seats I picked! Great performance!

Fabulous performance. Dancers were great, costumes magnificent, orchestra good. Afterwards, some of the dancers were available in Anello Atrium for professional photos for a $15.00 fee. What a sensational idea for a memento of a great time! The child I brought told me this was the happiest day of her life (10 years so far!)

It was very enjoyable. Luz San Miguel did a great job. This is probably my 3rd or 4th time watching Luz's performance. Along with Ryan Martin. he was also great. Even though, he was not part of this event.

I'm not a fan of opera and was a little nervous going into it. However, it was an amazing score of dance and music to tell a story without words.

Very theatrical, romantic. I recommend this ballet to everyone. Milwaukee ballet has floored me once again,

My daughter needed to attend this ballet as course assignment. We both enjoyed every moment! We only wished we would have brought more family members with us. The dancing was impeccable, the sets delightful and the music was fantastic. The audience interaction made it memorable for so many! Well done! I am hooked and look forward to attending future events.

Sets, costumes, and of course the dancing were all absolutely amazing! This show will certainly have my wife and I purchasing more ballet tickets!

My wife and I had not been to the ballet in 23 years (last went while we were still dating). After the performance of Esmeralda, we'll be going much more often-we loved it!!! Amazing how good the dancers were and we were also impressed with the excellent costuming and sets. We look forward to further ballets!! Good job Milwaukee Ballet!!

This was my fall event for myself. I live alone and love ballet and overcame obstacles to attend. And I was very intrigued by the interplay between the male and female dancers of the character of Esmeralda. Beyond any doubt, Julianne Kepley danced most finest. I will say, I think it is time to alter the camera policy. I used a digital Cybershot without flash. I was not trying to infringe copyright, if that is the reason I was taken aside. Next to me in my box seats were a mother and daughter who were tweeting and texting during the entire first act. Annoying enough that I had to take photos if I were to capture the performance. However, they were not called aside. Then, after intermission, I was accosted by a male/female couple who were obviously trying to "ride" in on me to the second half of the performance. For my safety, I stalled as long as possible. But then, the gates were closed and I couldn't get in unless I let this couple in with me. I didn't. I did purchase a fine piece of Wisconsin Craft at the gift shop and left. It was annoying. But since I already knew the story and understood the choreography and art, I was mostly annoyed by the behaviour of the non-performers. I thoroughly enjoyed Pink's use of classical steps and incorporation of modern influence.

This was a well choreographed ballet with a surprisingly good orchestral score, both for content and quality of performance. Some of the scenes reminded me more of Broadway than ballet, but the cast handled both scenarios wonderfully. The commonfolk party in Act II morphed into severally erotically charged couplings between the Tarts and various men that may want to make parents think twice before bringing the young 'uns.

I'm a big Ballet fan, and I felt really happy watching this performance. It's great combination of music and dance.

It was simply not was I expected. I was hoping for a modern turn on ballet but the show turned out to be a kinda repetitive slice of the 80's. No knock on the dancers... I know they train very hard. I just think it was a little boring and dare I say "loud" at times, with the 80's Euro vibe. Could have been more creative.

Loved the show, what a great compliment to the collaboration between Ben Folds and William Shatner. The other two pieces rounded out the afternoon. Would definitely recommend.

I went to this show because I am a huge Ben Folds fan. I had never been to a ballet or any sort of dance event. Turns out I loved all aspects of this show just as much if not more than the Ben Folds / William Shatner feature. I would go back to the ballet in a second.

I loved the show, so much talent. Very entertaining and magical. I went with my family and even my teenage kids really enjoyed it! It really is a family must see. :)

The nutcracker was a wonderful display of a story about Christmas. The talent, costuming, and storytelling was phenomenal.

This year's production of The Nutcracker was the most beautiful, fun and artistically captivating I have ever seen. Having studied ballet for more than 10 years, this was the perfect blend of the traditional elements and fun for a 21st century audience. The set draws you into the story. The costuming was at the same time true to tradition and absolutely breathtaking in a contemporary way. They brought life and character to the exquisite dancers instead of being something they danced in. The performances were perfect lively and fun. The audience was engaged in a way I haven't seen before. It was just a fantastic evening.

I haven't been to the ballet in years. I took my five year old granddaughter and she was at the edge of her seat through the whole performance! The costumes, the decor and mostly the dancers where amazing. The only disappointment was standing in a long line to get a nutcracker cookie and by the time we got up there it was sold out. But we will definitely make this a yearly tradition.

This is my second year in a row attending and I want to attend again next year. I smiled the entire time...the sets, the costumes, the orchestra, the dancers....all so wonderful.

A truly great additional to the holiday season, true to the original. My wife and I have made this an annual tradition. This year's was one of the best!

This was a beautiful performance, very professional. The sets were wonderful and the dancers were amazing. My only recommendation would be to have more dancers available for a little longer period of time after the performance for pictures. That is an opportunity to the children to capture the memory forever

Fantastic production quality, set, costumes, music, direction and talent! It really sparkled. Lead dancers were all on top of their game - made impressive leaps and combinations look relaxed and natural. Loved Clara's mischievous smiles and good humor. Some clever new transition tricks - excellent choreography. We treated our church friends from Hungary and their daughters. Loved it and we all agree it will be a lasting memory. Thank you for doing this with such excellence and love for the story. [[Milw. Rep's Christmas Carol should take a lesson from MKE Ballet - stay true to the tradition.]

It's hard to put into words how incredible this production was. The combination of traditional ballet and acrobatics/aerials kept the audience on the edge of their seats, and it meant their was something for everyone. It's wonderful to see how fresh and unique this traditional art form is in the hands of Michael Pink and the Milwaukee Ballet.

The production was masterful. I especially enjoyed the scenes with the Queen, because my oldest daughter (age 4 and a half) was mesmerized by the Queen and her music-- it was so much fun to watch her expressions.

The ballet and the music were wonderful. Creative in every way. so very glad we went. We will certainly do next season. We had an unfortunate situation with our seating. A couple politely said we were in their seats. We showed them and the usher our tickets and ticketmaster had issued us both the sme seats

Everything about it was perfect...it was great that the incorporated a younger cast...they were so good and cute! The action and costumes were perfect and kept you entertained. The length of the show was the right amount. Must See!

The best ever MKE Ballet performance. Costumes, music, dance...spectacular. Don't know if they pulled out all the stops and put heart and soul into the performance because it was the retirement of 4 members of the company or not, but it definitely worked! Hope it is added to another season in the future; I'll be taking others with me when it happens.

I attended the 5/21/16 performance and it was breathtaking.The costumes, the choreography, the dancers... it was another hit for the Milwaukee Ballet. They never disappoint.

This ballet was by far the SINGLE best show I have ever seen. The live music was very moving. The costumes were so well done and hilarious. The choreography and stage sets were very inspiring. The dancing was so beautiful and fun to watch. I wish I could see it again. Quite the amazing show. Well done!

I have never been disappointed by a performance by the Milwaukee Ballet. Their performance of Alice In Wonderland proved that they continue to strive to provide the best shows possible. I was in awe of the talent on stage as well as the fantastic staging. My friends and I left the show wanting more and contemplating getting season tickets for next year.

This was a Mothers Day gift to me. I was impressed by the costumes and dancing. I am going to see another ballet, hopefully Mirror Mirror.

Loved all three dances in the program, but The Trey McIntyre piece was over the top. Wonderful, inspired dancing by the Milwaukee Ballet.

Addendum and The Sixth Sin were amazing additions to the Milwaukee Ballet season in this series of three contemporary works. The first, Addendum, opened the evening with seemingly endless variations on themes using tiny chairs. These chairs were not props for the dancers, but were their partners as limbs became entwined with them. The performance used the company's athleticism to great effect. Mary Pirin's costumes were extraordinary. I cannot say enough in praise of this work. The second piece, The Sixth Sin, was more confrontational than Addendum, but also beautifully executed. At times the movement of the large sets and multiple layers of dance on the stage nearly overwhelmed, but these were so well integrated into a conceptual whole that it left me wanting to see the performance again. In fact, I do want these pieces to be performed again here. I want to see them. I also found myself wanting to talk about The Sixth Sin during intermission. The theater's lounge was given over to dancing with members of Ballet II. This was an interesting effort at audience engagement and fun, but I felt it incongruent with the The Sixth Sin. An opportunity for discussion at cafe tables might have worked better. After all, audience members had just witnessed people with apparently perfect bodies exploring their dissatisfaction with their images in front of an audience of aging overweight people. The final work in the series received applause after every segment of it. When I attended on Saturday night there was a thunderous standing ovation at the end. I wondered why. Despite a couple of really athletic performances that showcased two danceurs and a ballerina, the overall work was banal. Bun heads in toe shoes mincing to the Beatles? The corp was given really dismal choreography with which to work. The piece lacked cohesion. Crowd pleaser? Apparently. Good dance? Hardly. This one could go into the dust bin, though I doubt it will.

Disclaimer: If you're new to dance or modern dance, Kaleidoscope Eyes may take you off guard from traditional ballet. Regardless of style, this series of three unique dance pieces is both athletic and artistic. Thought provoking and inspiring, seeing this performance is an incredible experience, and I highly recommend it. Rather than give a detailed review of each dance, let my endorsement be that it was so worth seeing, that I bought tickets to a second performance. Worth every penny.

I took my mother for her Christmas gift, and a gift to myself. This was the first time both of us saw the show it was GREAT!!!!!! I would see it again.

My granddaughter, son and I went to the ballet showing of the Nutcracker and it was the pinnacle of our Christmas celebrations. Wonderful set, orchestra and dancers!!!

The production was amazing! Very well choreographed. The costumes, music, and scenery were all breathtaking!

The only disappointment for the performance was that Odette and the other swans were not dressed in tutus. Also, the signet variation was omitted. Other than that, loved it!

What a beautiful performance of Swan Lake. We particularly loved all the swans. Their feet fluttered and moved like a real group of birds.

My friend and I loved the ballet. We liked the unique story that made it so special and not just another Disney rip off. Disney lovers may want to avoid this if that is what they want but they would be missing out on a wonderful ballet. I highly recommend it!!

Between the costumes and music, the dancing and ambience, everything was completely magical! I only wish that I had been able to take more people with me!! I hope it returns!

So wonderful to see a world premiere of a ballet. Michael Pink and the entire organization..dancers,,musicians..scenery..costume..gave us a new classic. It is a good one for all to see as it has a good story and keeps you enthralled all the way through to the end. I hope they can bring it back soon.

Show was great. We came to see a family member. We thought the production could have used a larger number of cast members in certain scenes.

There are not enough superlatives to describe this show! Everything about it is amazing! We go every year and it never fails to astound us and get us in the holiday spirit. Highly recommend it!

I'd never been to Milwaukee Ballet before, but I'm so glad I went to see its version of "The Nutcracker." I was completely blown away!! I'd recommend that everybody go see this production!

We took my 7 yr old niece and aspiring ballerina, to the Sunday matinee and had a wonderful time. The Nutcracker is always enjoyable and evocative but we appreciated the way, in this version, Clara and Fritz were much more than a passive audience in Part II. Their attempts to join the dance and mimic the performers added some fresh spice.

This was the best production of the Nutcracker I've ever seen, and that includes 2 in the past at the Milwaukee Ballet. The staging and costuming were a Christmas-vision of sparkling delights. The dancing - individual masters and chorus ensembles - were masterful and brought the audience into the story. The core members of the ballet company treated the audience to emotionally-inspired artistry as they performed and interpreted the main dances of the Nutcracker. I especially enjoyed how Fritz and Clara danced throughout the visions - as when they danced with the Sugar Plum faries. My granddaughters- one 13 and the other 16 - were thoroughly amazed. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to your artistry. You gave us a great Christmas memory.

I have been taking my daughter to the ballet since she was 7 yrs old. This year was by far the best performance. We noticed some slight chances - but loved them. The little bit of humor that came through and the facial expressions were wonderful!

We haven't been to the ballet since the Nutcracker 20 years ago. The Milwaukee Ballet was new, beautiful and exciting. The score was recently composed. The full orchestra was astounding as the strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion sections blended together filling the cavernous space of Uihlein Hall with wonderful melodies and harmonies which enhanced the story. The dancers were talented athletes expressing their tale without words. The choreography was both modern dance and traditional ballet blended together as they climbed through the different levels of the forest. Dancers were dramatically lifted 20 ft in the air a couple of times. Other times they moved gracefully on their toes. The sets, lighting and special effects were awesome like Hollywood movies today vs.older movies. The gorgeous costumes were designed to develop each individual character, enhance their dances and set the time period of the story. There were 4 evil spirits with Ninja like, light up masks my grandsons would have loved. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening of great entertainment.

It has been since 1981 that I have attended an event at the Ballet....have I been missing out!!

Loved the costuming and scene changes. The lead female performers shined especially the evil stepmother.

A delightful, memorable story. The most colorful and wonderful dancers. I was captivated and spellbound by the acting as well as the dancing. I am a big fan of the ballet.

La Sylphide was stunning. The dancers were absolutely flawless, and the performance was very well done. Very historically accurate, and love how they incorporated some of the famed poses from Marie Taglioni's performance posters. Fantastic performance, can't wait to see the next one!

Fantastic show for children and adults. We were very impressed by the quality of the dancing, sets, costumes and music our three year old was mesmerised. What an excellent introduction to classical music and ballet for children.

We are truly lucky to have this caliber of a performance in our "backyard" The production, music and performance is all top notch! I feel it is very affordable for the experience. My daughter and I have gone 5 times over the years and we look forward to our next time!

Beautiful production of Swan Lake. I would not recommend bringing small child unless they really are into it. My daughter is 10 and really enjoyed it she has been in dance since she was 3. Other little ones around us got a little anxious. I would suggest waiting to bring a younger child so you both can enjoy the performance.

I hadn't been to the ballet for a while and the Milwaukee Ballet's Swan lake made me realize that I have really been missing something. The choreography and dancing were exquisite. The sets were outstanding, absolutely beautiful. The performance was a great example of the importance of acting through the dancing. There were so many small gestures and facial expressions that conveyed the story and the emotions much more than the last Swan lake I saw years ago. I came away feeling really impressed by the growth the company has shown.

Beautiful.....this is now off my bucket list of things to see before I croak.
