Highly recommend seeing Toots. His voice is so soulful and the Maytals sound is true Jamaican reggae.

I can't believe it was the first time I've seen him perform, he is one of my all-time faves and an original reggae great. His voice is still strong and he is in fantastic shape, with biceps bulging and him jumping all over the stage. I took my wife, who knew a lot of the songs just from me playing them over the years, and my 20 year old son. They both loved the show and as my son said ' anyone who likes music would love that show". Everyone at the show was jumping around, singing and dancing and Toots led his band and the audience thru a great set. The band is TIGHT!! If you've never seen them DO NOT miss this chance. Prepare to dance and sing and leave with a smile on your face. The feeling you get from these guys will be carried with you for a long time. Now go put on some Toots and the Maytals and turn it up LOUD!

"the hardest working man in show business," he's been at it for 50 years, and i bet he'll be doing it for another 50. brought to mind james brown, with the tightness of the band, the grooves they set up, and the energy - toots left it all on the stage. you could tell how much he loved what he was doing. at one point, a woman climbed onto the stage, and he shooed away the security and danced with her a while. and at the end of the show, he invited a whole crowd up on stage with him. he clearly did not want to leave. he reminded me of how wonderful reggae can be. i would go see him any time. i hope he felt the love, and will be back.

ONCE AGAIN TOOTS AND THE MAYTALS DIDNT FAIL TO THOROUGHLY ENTERTAIN THE AUDIENCE. TOOTS DEMONSTRATED HIS MUSICAL TALENTS WITH GUITAR AND HARMONICA AND FOR A 64 YEAR OLD HE SHOWED AS MUCH ENERGY AS ARTISTS FAR YOUNGER.

Toots brought his usual amount of energy to the stage, dancing around and really working the crowd. That was no special feat, as everyone new the words to each song and belted them out with gusto. The dance frenzy, typical of Toots shows, was in full force and the packed crowd seemed to eat up all the antics.

Eek-a-Mouse and Toots and the Maytals put on a great performance last night. Interacting with the crowd, they seem to really be enjoying what they do. Seeing them live is always a treat and this was no exception.

I have seen Toots play several times over the past decade. My previous experience was a few years back. Last night's show was nothing compared to what Toots used to deliver, when he earned the moniker "The James Brown of Reggae". His voice was pretty good at the start, but faded fast. This forced him to play versions of his most memorable songs that were anything but. While it was good to see Mr. Frederick Hibbert on stage one more time, I yearn for the Tootd of old. Alas.

I had a great time at this show. Loved the atmosphere and the artists. Very laid back, casual venue. Great lineup of local and international artists. Learned about "skankin"! Perfect weather for the day. Vendor selection was weak and food/beverage support was marginal, but considering the semingly light turnout, I can understand why. Was thrilled to see the English Beat and Reel Big Fish for the 1st time.

Great show. Seeing one of my favorite bands live in a small venue like the Surf Club was great. Toots' voice is still as strong and soulful as ever. I haven't been to the Surf Club in 12 years. I like the changes they made. I brought a friend who was on crutches. The staff was great. She got in touch with the club and explained her situation and we got to sit on a nice couch in the V.I.P. section. I think the main guy was Joe Boz ( spelling ? ) and a bouncer named Eric were really helpful. Many thanks, they ( Surf Club Staff ) were a class act. I'll keep an eye out for shows there and would go back.

I didnt know many of the bands that performed, with the exception of Jah Works and the English Beat, but I think it was a real stretch to call this music Reggae... The music was fine for what it was, but I felt mislead by the title: Reggae on the Harbor... Sure there were reggae rhythms, but it felt like a hodge podge of wanna be reggae artists. Dissapointed

Excellent show by a true classic Reggae artist !! Toots always gets the audience moving !! The Minnesota Zoo Venue is a great spot to see a show since it is small & all seats are close enough to see the performers. Start up band (Wain Mcfarlane & Ipso Facto) were also great to see again.

This was the best concert I was at in a long time. Toots was super. He played a lot of his old favorites, and he got the audience excited from the start. He keep the crowd involved for the entire show. It was a great experience. For reaching people at the roots level, reggae is the best. To paraphrase Bob Marley, Reggae is earth music, it's in touch with the rhythm of the earth.

What a bummer. Toots and his band were so lackluster at the Fillmore in San Francisco . He barely can sing anymore, he held the microphone down at his belly button and you could barely hear him. Every once in a while he would belt a couple of words out. All of his songs started out strong for a minute, then he would jam on the guitar for the rest and stretch out each song. His back up band looked like they were going to fall asleep. No one had any energy and I don't think Toots has a voice left. We saw him several years ago at the Warfiled in San Fran and the same thing happened, thought it was the sound at the Warfield. Put it this way, you could hear the crowd talking over the band - never a good sign.

I usually love this concert at the Hollywood Bowl.... I saw Toots 2 years ago, and he rocked the house.... Maybe I was sitting too far back... this time I had the more inexpensive seats... Everyone around us were talking soooo loud during the songs, you couldn't hear them sing... Also the whole stage presence seem to lack the usual luster... The other thing I didn't care for, was how the big screen was edited... There were no full band shots, only zoom in for single musician or singers..... so you had to settle for what they wanted you to see on the big screen, rather then the whole band, and that was extremely disappointing. Sorry, I have seen better Reggae concerts at the Hollywood Bowl...

Toots and the Maytals bring it! They have such high energy (no pun intended) you can't help but have fun! The way Toots interacts with the audience is great, he is constantly shaking hands, he shows he really appreciates his fans. Even though they are touring a lot, which must get so tiring, they still play for a long time at 11, never letting the energy drop. The band is just amazing, such talent, and the backup singers too, looks like a fun group, I loved partying with them all. Thanks and blessings to Toots & the Maytals

We are lifeline roots reggae fans...and Toots and the Maytals fans. Ziggy was a great host and played some good songs. But he also played several songs that must have been from his new album...and we didn't know any of them. Toots and the Maytals, who has always been absolutely amazing, was absolutely disappointing. He was mumbling quite a bit and was almost lifeless. We were so disappointed that we left after two of his songs. It broke our hearts to be disappointed this way.

First of all when we arrived there was a very small sign that said Maxi Priest will not be performing due to a problem with his Visa. So you figured that we would just get more Ziggy? Ziggy performed but he was suppossed to perform in his own spot and also Maxi's spot...that didn't happen! It was bad enough to not have Maxi but then Ziggy didn't come out for the final performance sucked! Oh well I will still pay to see Ziggy but I was pretty disappointed!

Hollywood Bowl is an unbelievable venue! It's gone through some renovations - mainly updating the restrooms and adding one of those "electronic walkways". The entertainment was amazing. Freddie M. and Toots were awesome. Maxi Priest, unfortunately, was not there due to being stuck in the UK. However, Ziggy came to the rescue and performed quite a bit of songs, including one from the great Bob Marley. He performed about 30-45 minutes, which was definitely a great surprise! This is definitely a recommended concert to attend every year!

My 14 year old and I attended this event, and we're truly amazed! Years ago, I saw Bob Marley and wanted to keep up the family tradition. Ziggy did not disappoint. In fact, He played an extra long set because Maxi Priest had to cancel due to visa problems in the UK. The entire audience was into his music and his message of peace. You could feel the positive vibe pulsing as if we were all transported to another level of consciousness. When Ziggy finished his set, Toots and the Maytals had an extremely hard act to follow. They did recapture the energy a couple of songs in, but Ziggy should have been the headliner act.

Let me start by saying I am the biggest reggae fan you will find. So, when I heard the legends were all playing together at the bowl I was thrilled. However, overall I was very disappointed in this concert. My disappointment started when I found out that Maxi Priest wasn t going to play due to Visa issues. Next was when I discovered that Toots was going to headline instead of Ziggy. Don t get me wrong, Toots has been one of the biggest stars of Reggae for decades, but if this performance was indicative of his current state, it s time for him to retire. My disappointment in Toots started when he came out wearing a ridiculous outfit that resembled General Zod from Superman 2. Then throughout the entire performance he was holding the mic down by his belly button & we couldn t hear a word he was singing. All we could hear was his back-up singers. I m not sure if he s just too old, or the tour is too long, but it was an extremely uninspired performance from Toots. Freddy McGregor was solid as usual, & Ziggy was great in his set-up role, but in my opinion ZIGGY is the headliner & Toots in the set-up act. I went to Ziggy at the bowl last year & it was great, this year not so much. I will have to see the line-up next year & decide if it s worth going back.

I look forward every summer to attend Reggae night at the Hollywood Bowl. I was disappointed this year, being that the show did not meet their expectations to Legends of Reggae. Ziggy Marley and his organization put this show together and have done a fabulous job in the past. Ziggy came out to perform and had the crowd standing up and dancing and feeling good. He left the stage too soon and welcomed Toot and the Maytals onto the stage. Which by the way brought the morale down. I felt like I was in Church at one point and was wondering where the heck did the roots of reggae music go. The crowd and I expected to see Ziggy come back and finish the concert but that was not the case. From a great opening to a very disappointed ending to a beautiful summer evening.

For the most par a good show...Bob Andy and Freddie McGregor were very good, although I never heard of them before. Ziggy Marley was excellent, but I wished he was on longer and did a few more of his father's songs...THe only bummer was Toots & The Maytals...I've seen them before and they were a lot better then...THe mix on Toot's mic was awful, you could barely hear his lyrics...and his song choices also left something to be desired...maybe he should take a tip from Glenn Campbell and make this his final tour...Left halfway through his set, it was that bad!

Overall I would love to give a 5 star rating but several major disappointments occurred. 1. Maxi Priest was a no show -and although Ziggy was the main headliner the no show (understand he had visa issues in the UK -will research that for validity). Maxi was our main reason for attending... 2. We understood that Ziggy would fill Maxi's spot in the lineup, but also it was understood that he would perform also in his own spot as the headliner - meaning the final performance. 3. Toots and the maytels performed last - and worst. Let me say, if it were not for the female vocalists they would have been worse than horrible. The bass was cranked up to the point that it appeared intentional to drown out Toots and his singing. I have been a fan for many years - but after that performance I might suggest retirement.horrible, horrible, horrible. 4. With such a horrible sound I was really looking forward to another (even short) performance by Ziggy...... Well that didn't happen, so after 30 minutes plus of excruciating noise from Toots, the show was over. I will always recommend the Marleys, been a fan of Bob for sincev1974, but if I see Toots in the lineup I will think 2,3,4 times before spending my money.

Great show and vibe at Newport RI waterfront show. Poor weather conditions were irrelevant as Toots and the Maytals had the whole place dancing and singing away to their awesome acoustic performance.

The speakers were so cheap and turned up so loud so the small crowd could hear. Distortion and poor quality sound. Very cheap.

Fantastic venue for being asbsorbed in the moment. Toots still leaves everything on the table.

I have been to a lot of shows in my day and seen a lot of legendary bands. But the way Toots and the Maytals put on the show at The House of Blues in Chicago was nothing short of amazing. Toots was non stop and full of energy, his voice clear and soulful. The way he worked the audience into a frenzy was fun to watch and he had them eating out of his hand. The band was tight and never missed a cue regardless of what Toots was doing. If you have a chance to see Toots and the Maytals definitely go. You will never forget it.

On an unseasonably cool Spring in Chicago, Toots and The Maytals brought the heat!

The Uptown Theater in Napa is such an awesome venue (854 seats) - and while it was by no means a full house for the show - Toots and the Maytals played it like it was - interacted with the audience, gave soooo much to all the songs - 'Nuff Love and Respect all the way around - totally high energy for an acoustic show... the female backup singers were awesome - the guest that came up and rocked Monkey Man with him was off the hook. Hard to believe Toots is almost 67 - most 30 year olds don't have that much energy - the passion in the music was so strong. My only issue was some of the young audience members who need to learn to respect the artist and really listen... I had to shush the vapid twenty-somethings behind me several times...

The venue was small and personal, which we loved. Toots was awesome -- hilarious commentary, fantastic music, and he played for almost two hours. It was an overall great experience!

Although I enjoyed last year much better because Ziggy performed longer, it was still a great concert! Definitely recommend it everyone!

I paid to see Maxi Priest and he no showed and they had no one to replace him. Since we had one less artist to see you would think they would have a replacement or Ziggy could have played a longer set. Neither happened. Had I known Maxi was not going to show I would have not paid to see the rest of the lineup. A Big Disappointment!!

I was very disappointed that Maxi Priest just didn't show up! I paid for that too. We should receive refunds.

Ziggy was fantastic, however Tuff Gong was LOADED the whole time, which was disapppointing....couldn't even sing his songs. The spotlight cameras focused on the backup singers and the keyboard guy, etc, for good reason. Glad I didn't pay for box seats. We still made the best of it and had fun. Ziggy rocked it.

Bob Andy and Freddie Mcgregor nuff respect! Great performances. Ziggy was ok but crowd in section E only came alive when he sang one Bob Marley hit. Toots was rubbish ! Sound was off and he seemed to be singing at a geriatric pace. First time in my life I walked out of a Reggae show before it was over.

Ziggy Marley was awesome! What happened to Maxi Priest and Freddie McGregor? Not to mention, I love Toots and the Maytals, but Toots could barely stand up let alone sing! I'm just dissapointed. Went with high hopes and was disappointed with what happened.

Maxi Priest didn't show, something to do with his Visa, the other acts stunk, of course Ziggy Marley was great and saved the show somewhat

It was very disappointing that Maxi Priest wasn't able to make it out. In addition, the line up wasn't that great. The headliner wasn't even up beat enough to end the show with a bang. I did enjoy the show, but was expecting it to be a lot better.

Never had seen him in concert before. He got on the stage and captivated the audience immediately. He's not hopping around the stage like a young man, but he sang and played his heart out.

Good show. $7 for 2-ounces of Captain Morgan's is not cool.

The show was awesome. Cannot have a bad seat in the State Theatre so any place was great to watch Toots and the Maytals! Their energy, esp. Toots and the chorus girls, was contagious. He played all his classics to the tee and was interactive with the crowd quite a bit. A fantastic show and so glad we went!
