Andra Day

This was my second time seeing Andra Day live in Atlanta, and she was just as amazing this time as the last. Her voice is so rich and powerful! I also loved the intimate setting of Tabernacle. If you ever get the opportunity, go see her live!

Andra Day was AMAZING!! This was the 5th time seeing her perform and she never disappoints. If you haven't seen her, you should make it a point to catch her when she comes to a city near you. If you haven't gotten her CD, check it out, you'll love it from beginning to end!

She took the room at the first song. Her instrument is surely one of the best voices I've heard in a long time. She has phenomenal style and her chemistry with her band made you feel like you were at a jam session at their house. I'll see her again and again and again.

Wonderful classic style with melodies and lyrics that are so raw and honest. Loved this show. Her whole girlfriend vibe connects with the audience immediately. Made you feel like u could kick it with her anytime. Phenomenal unique voice for the ages. Love what she brings to the musical mix and WILL NOT miss her next visit to DC

Pure, raw, passionate talent. What a beautiful soul, indeed! I just wish I couldve heard her a little better! (Vocals were too low from where I was sitting) much love!

One of the greatest voices of our time--her excellent CD does not do her justice. Seeing Andra in a small club was a special treat. I expect her next tour to be in much larger venues.

Andra Day brought the house down! From the minute she hit the stage, you knew you were in for something special! Her vocals were flawless, and she wowed the crowd with every song she sang!! Her interaction with the crowd was personal, and you felt it! She pours her heart and soul into every song she sings, a real powerhouse!!!

Beginning the set with Forever Mine, dressed in black & white polka dot pajamas and sporting her signature hair style and makeup, I was captivated from the first few notes. Combining a retro look with a modern R&B feel, one can t help but see and hear her stylistic influences, which includes Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill, the Rockabilly culture, Billy Holiday, and Lucille Ball (yes, Lucille Ball). She is an incredibly gifted performer who knows how to work the subtleties and nuances of feeling in a song, unleashing her powerful vocals or holding them back where appropriate. Her songs, which speak of the emotional turmoil of her past relationships, are wrought with pearls of wisdom, strung together beautifully and honestly. Her stage presence is self-assured and her willingness to sing a stripped down, intimate version of Rear View and Red Flags with keyboardist Charles Jones, which were combined into one song, suggests that she isn t afraid of being vulnerable. Day also sang a duet version of Goodbye Goodnight with Jones, who has also been gifted with a beautiful voice. The 'conversation,' in which the audience is made to feel like a welcomed listener and participant, rather than an eavesdropper, included a musical montage of Michael Jackson s Don t Stop Till You Get Enough, P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing), and Thriller, and Kendrick Lamar s No Make-Up, in which Day symbolically removed her makeup prior to performing the song. The standout song of the night would be difficult for me to choose, though clearly a fan favorite is Rise Up. Near the end of Rise Up, Day welcomed a young audience member on stage to perform the chorus, a promise she made to the young fan at the beginning of the song, and kept. She then invited the rest of the audience to sing the same chorus loud and with feeling, encouraging us to let our combined voices spill out into the streets, bringing hope and healing to the community. To say Day's performance was inspired is an understatement. The night s set ended with an outstanding encore performance of Queen s I Want It All, in which guitarist Dave Wood laid down a riff that left ears ringing and paint peeling. Presently, she is playing small venues, which seems like a poor reward for such hard work and sacrifice by an amazing talent. This was truly a once in a lifetime performance for me and it would be a mistake for music lovers to pass up the chance to see Andra Day live.

Andra is an amazing singer and performer. The show was great and the vocals beyond imagination. Conrad Sewell did the opening and oh my god... That kid can sing! Overall it was a great experience and if you have a chance you should go see her. You won't be disappointed

Bought Andra's CD about 3 weeks ago and loved it. When I found out she was playing St Andrews I got tickets immediately. Was surprised it wasn't a sell out, but sucks for those that weren't in the know!! Her band is so tight, her stage presence hypnotic, her voice unmistakable and incredible. I was not disappointed. Will try to see her agin while she's touring. I honestly believe she will be a major performer in the next couple of years but part of me hopes she'll still be able to play smaller venues, time will tell. Love, love, love what she's doing and how she's doing it, wish her all the success she deserves.

When I walked into the concert hall I must admit I was feeling down in my spirit struggling with self-hate and depression! Her concert was the only thing I had been looking forward too for months and rightfully so. She spoke and sang songs that touched my heart, mind, spirit, and body in ways I had not known were possible! Her voice is golden and the stories she tells transcend all matters of race, gender, social standing, religion, and any other things that seperate us! I am forever changed by this concert and I thank God for your gift and your willingness to share! ILL RISE UP A THOUSAND TIMES!!!

What a show!! What a voice!! I really never heard of Andra before the Stevie Wonder Christmas commercial. When I saw she was coming to ATL, I decided to get tickets. Boy, am I glad a did. I didnt know ONE song and it was STILL one of the BEST SHOWS I'VE SEEN IN YEARS!!! The voice of an angel. I bought her music the next day!! If she's in your town (or any where near), GO!!! You wont regret it. Go before her tickets are $100's of dollars!!!

Andra Day's performance was amazing. Her vocals are truly unique, strong, perfected and yet by her down-to-earth spirit, you can feel that she hasn't even peaked in her craft. I will definitely see her again. To music lovers and the industry, she is greater than what we realize.

From the very first time I heard Ms. Day's voice streaming through my Tidal app I was hooked! Having the opportunity to see her in person made it official! She is the real deal and her songs will touch you!

Even though the venues sound system was not the best it did not matter. Andra Day's vocal abilities made up for it. I had not heard alot of her songs but she moved us still. Great show, awesome talent and she is going to be a superstar so I was glad to see her in a smaller setting.

Love that she was transparent by stripping off her make to perform No Makeup. Her vocals are amazing and she exudes such positive energy and humbleness.

It is fairly rare now to find an artist who sings live exact same as she does on record. Andra Day is one of those rarities. Her song were amazing. More beautiful though were her interpretations of other artists' songs. Her interpretation of Mississippi Goddamn by Nina Simone was amazing. If you appreciate beautiful voices and talent, I do not recommend missing her show.

Don't miss this opportunity! Andra Day and her band were by far the most incredible, touching performers I've ever seen. Regardless of time or place she's worth making the time to see!!! Thanks Andra for such an amazing evening!

Who knew that this show at this tiny venue would be one of the best shows of the year? I had first heard of Andra when she was the voice of a song at the end of a great documentary about mountain climbing called Meru. I liked her so much with her nod to a Amy Winehouse voice styling so much that I looked her up and bought her recording Andra Day, online. I dig every song. Now you never know what you are going to get with an act that appears to be new and breaking out. It was a Sunday night and I was yawning in line outside the Rickshaw Stop. I even told my partner in the SOLD OUT queue that if someone came up and offered to buy our tickets that I would sell them. I'm in my 50's now and the prospect of going home to my robe and watching Penny Dreadful sounded so much better than a small club filled with people. I'm so glad I persevered. WHAT A SHOW!!!! Not only did Ms. Day perform every song from her generous first album, but she honoured us with a re-working of Nina Simone's 'Mississippi Goddam'. She did a Bob Marley reggae medley as well right up front that got the crowd stirred up. Afterwards we commented on how 90% of live shows never get near to the quality of sound on the recordings. This is usually due to the space, the talent of the band/performer or the arrangements they offer. Andrea Day and her AMAZING young band surpassed every recorded song and changed up the arrangements so that every song had a new life of it's own. I told him she could take this show to a place like Vegas and sell it out...forever, just like it is. Word would catch on and she be rocketed....but that's gonna happen anyway.

I saw Andra Day at this intimate venue. The was fantastic, I mean electric, I mean totally unforgettable. What's even nicer was that I was standing six feet away from the stage. When she becomes big and starts to sell out stadiums, I will remember today when I stood within arms length of this beautiful singer pouring her heart out to me.

I've been to every time of concert, from Beyonce to Mariah Carey and to be as close I was to Andra Day was simply amazing. Her voice live was so beautiful. By far the best concert ever!!

Andra Days dreamy and powerful vocals are a mix of Ella Fitzgerald, Eartha Kitt and Adele. Her home town engagement at Humphreys was wonderful. My friend had never experienced her. Before the concert she a planned to leave early. Needless to say, she stayed to the VERY END.

Her voice was absolutely phenomenal!! My first time seeing her live and everytime she returns i will be sure to be in attendance.

First time experiencing Andra in person and I was very pleased. She was phenomenal! I was elated to witness Chloe and her sister Halle, they are a group to keep your eye on. Both are rising stars.

From the incredibly talented sister-duo opening act, Chloe + Halle, to Andra herself, this wa a jawdroppingly great concert. Ms. Day is likely to go far given her killer voice, charming & charismatic personality, and overall stage presence, not to mention her beautiful music.

The venue was great and glad it was on a Monday night so the area was not crowded and we managed to park right out front of the venue in Boston! First time seeing Andra Day live and she was outstanding. Her vocals are incredible and she was interacting with the crowd and everyone loved her and was having a good time.

Andra Day is crazy talented. She effortlessly moves between a variety of musical stylings. She left it all out on the floor Monday night.

A great show, still amazing she hasn't made it "big"... from "rise up" to a cover of Queen she belted out a great show. I liked the addition of backup vocals, added to the show.

This is my second time getting the opportunity to see her live, and she is just so amazing the way she interacts with her fans the nina simone influences she is just all around a great person and someone you want to continue watch as they rise up in success!

The venue set the tone for an intimate and amazing night. Chloe & Halle are young women with incredible voices and were a perfect opening act. Andra's conversational lice was Magnificent!!!! Her voice was as if you were listening to the CD however with even more power and passion. She was real.... down to earth and personable.

She was phenomenal! I would see her over and over and over again in concert.

If you have never seen Andra Day live, all I can say is that you need to remedy that situation immediately. Her voice is flawless and she puts everything into every song. From beautiful covers of Nina Simone to a rendition of her hit Rise Up that gave me goosebumps, she can do no wrong.

Her voice melts me, I can listen to each song over and over again. I shed a tear when my favorites were sung and I also rejoiced when my heart was tugged. I feel a whole lot better just by attending this show.

Definitely the best concert I've been to all year. There's only a few artist who dosing better live than on cd. She blew me away, her stage presence was so welcoming. Her old school style and soultry voice meshed perfectly together. The history she has between her band you can feel as they play every song where it's there last. She played 4 new songs and gave us 2 encores! Andra showed so much love to her hometown! Chole and Halle were great too, never knew about them til the concert and I love there vibes and music. I will definitely go to another Andra Day concert!!!

I just love Andra Day. This is the 3rd time I've seen her in concert and she always puts on a great show...who could ever be disappointed with that voice! My grandson turned me on to her, so it's our "thing" to go see her every time she comes into town...this time I brought my 2 BFF's. We got to meet Andra's father, Joe...he's so proud of his daughter and rightfully so! Andra gives her all at every show and she's so gracious...it probably didn't hurt that San Diego is her home town! Love you Andra!

Really enjoyed the show, but it started very late. The band is excellent, along with the backup singers. The first song the band was so loud it was hard to hear the singing. That improved. Her energy is great, song selection good, lots of great crowd energy in her home town. She is a very soulful singer and it was a very entertaining evening.

her voice was beautiful, the weather was right, the atmosphere was ripe & ready for a star performance. but in the end i was somewhat disappointed. andra andra andra!!! she missed a great opportunity to showcase not only her unique style, but her gratitude to san diego for choosing her show over the most electrifying world series game ever played!

She did a two time Grammy nominated performance. She wants it all and it showed.

Andra Day's performance could not be enjoyed due to the over powered band. The volume of drum playing belonged in a 'Rock Band".

As expected, Andra Day put on an amazing show. Her vocals, as always, were amazing and her music is just so versatile. Sixth & I was pretty much a venue made in a heaven for the type of artist she is and for her genre of music. The acoustics, the atmosphere, the stage all combined to make for a great show.

Andra was fantastic, and she will be in any venue. The intimate setting of 6th & I made it even more special. Her voice and spirit are so pure. It was a beautiful show!

Wow, what an amazing talent! This show was fabulous, Andra and her band were beyond fabulous. If you do not know her, look her up! She should be famous!!!
