XL Center is starting to look run down. Needs an inside cleaning, paint job, and just an overall update. Food near arena? Some of the local food places were closed on a mid day, early evening, for the Saturday game. A deli across the street, Blimpie, etc. all closed. My son and I wandered around looking for a decenlty priced place to eat. Found Woody's Hotdogs which was fine. There is a Coliseum Club in the arena that any ticket holder can go to to eat. It is the highest level in the arena and loked nice. Found out about it after we already ate. Ban playing in atrium area before the game was not needed. Way to loud. Need stuff to do before the game time in the atrium area for the kids. We waited an hour for doors to open. Hockey game was fun, but crowd wasn't into it and the place was only half full on a Saturday evening for a big event, CT Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. We stayed in East Hartford and walked across the bridge to get to downtown. That was an easy walk - 20 minutes. In arena snacks, food, and adult drinks were over priced.

Being a Falcons fan from Springfield, i never got to see the Hamilton Bulldogs (for some reason the Falcons don't play them) I am also a Montreal Canadiens fan so i bought tickets to see them play the Wolfpack. In my opinion,i thought it was a great game. I would love to see Hartford get another NHL team!

Hartford still is a hockey town. What a fun event to take our family to....kids had fun, non stop entertainment - more fun than some NBA games I have been to! Highly recommend going to a Hartford Wolf Pack game!

The game was good overall, but every time I went to go to the bathroom, get a hot dog, whatever, there was a security person stopping me and asking me for my ticket. Even on the way in. Once or twice I can understand, but come on, I could barely move around in the place without someone stopping me. It's not like I'm dressed like a terrorist in an airport or something, I'm a standard hockey fan wearing a hockey jersey. It was ridiculous. The security people really need something to do with themselves other than harass me over and over every time I need to take a leak.

if you are a hockey fan, this is high level hockey at a great price - if you are a ranger fan, you can see future stars - the venue is a bit old and half empty but it is made up for by the die hards who show up. also, a great way to introduce kids to hockey without drop hundreds of dollars.

Great game and great for the kids. Sitting right behind the officials booth was a plus. The guys working there were fantastic. The kids loved every minute. Well worth the parking fee in the parking garage.

I was surprised to see so few people at the game on a rainy, blah Saturday night, but the crowd that did show up was pretty enthusiastic. The seats were great (upper section 215, just about at center ice) for $10 - much better than wasting that amount on a movie ticket! And of course it's always more exciting when the Pack wins!

Great hockey game. Nice crowd of over 8,000 is nice to see. Lots of scoring and lots of fighting. The only area of concern is the concesion stands' high prices. Those $8 draft beers are killing me.

We drove to Hartford from NYC and as part of an apple picking/fall foliage vacation, we stopped to watch the Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' minor league affiliate. We loved it! The hockey was only a notch or two under the NHL (as expected), but the guys went all out, non-stop action, 45+ shots, lots of scoring (7-3 Wolf Pack win)...contests for the kids, very reasonable prices ($10 each) and even the parking across the street was only $10....well organized, safe and fun.....recommended....

Last season, the new management of the XL Center discontinued the "Shirts Off Our Back" promotion for the last game of the season. This season, the same management discontinued the light show and fireworks for the home opener. My grandsons were really looking forward to that display, and were very disappointed. I am also disappointed with the closing of the Pack Shop. As one who has attended Pack games every season since Year 1, and was a season ticket holder for most of those years, it appears to me that AEG is running this team into the ground.

We took our boys, 10 and 7, and our daughter, 6 to their first Wolfpack game and we all had a great time!! At $10 a ticket it was affordable enough for all of us to go. The block party before it was fun with great music and entertainment and plenty of freebies. The food and drink is expensive but it was a special night out. Not only did they get to see them win but learned what a hat trick is!

One of the best games I've been to in a long time. Granted, I haven't been to any games in a long time, but from the 97' Whalers to probably the 04' Wolf Pack, I've been to a lot of games, and this was definitely a memorable one with some of the most fights I've seen in a game, a hat trick, and of course a big win.

We are new to the Hartford area and had our daughter's friends visiting from out of town. We wanted to take them someplace fun, but had never been to the XL Center. The whole experience exceeded our expectations. The girls had a great time, the food was good, and parking was convenient and affordable. The only improvements could have been if the Whales won and we hadn't bought seats behind the goal. Next time we'll look for seats closer to center ice.

Although the outcome of the game wasn't what was hoped for, the overall experience was terrific. The Whale put on a fun event at the XCel Center. It is very family friendly with an intimate crowd packed with kids. The price of the tickets is a terrific value.

The hockey match between the Connecticut Whale and Worcester Sharks at the XL Arena was really enjoyable. Lots of entertainment for the fans, nice helpful staff and the game was excellent with a win for the Whale at 2-1. Having never been to a hockey game before, was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it was. Would definitely go again.

I took my two son and one of their friends ages 10, 10 and 7. They had a very good time. Intermissions and timeouts were very interactive and kept everyone entertained. The staff at the XL Center went above and beyond to accommodate all of the kids request. There was an Event Staffer located at the visitor entrance to the rink who was very gracious to take the time to answer the hundreds of questions the boys ask during the course of the game. He also showed them where to stand and how to safely High Five the players coming off and on the ice.

For any hockey fan, this is a great experience. You can get great seats for a low price, and you get to see a great hockey game. It rarely if ever sells out, so getting tickets is easy. However, I would like to have seen a few more fans at the game. For any hockey fan out there, this is a good deal.

They were ballerinas on ice without a choreographer or a principal. There didn't appear to be any strategy or team work. Connecticut Whale is as meek and as goofy as their mascot. That's my last game. Btw, I went with an avid fan of the Wolfpack and Hartford Whalers. We really wanted to get behind the Whale, but now we will stay home and know we aren't missing anything.

Always great to go to the XL Center in Hartford to see our home AHL team play. Unfortunately, they came out on the short end of the "stick". Wish more people would support the local team. It's really hard to beat the entertainment for the money. We will definitely come back.

The only thing that could have made this a better time would be if the Whale had won! They had a nice goal at the end of the game, though. For the price, you really can't do better. 2nd row glass at NHL (if they weren't on strike right now!) would be about 10 times the cost as our seats. Game was as fun and exciting, just with more fights. Go Whale!

I brought 4 teeny boppers to this game, and we had a very good time. The game was great, and even affordable compared to the NHL. The only real issue that I had was when beer is sold as a promotion for $2 and a soda costs $4, families are hit hard in the wallet, and it even sends the wrong message to kids. It is not that I have an issue with discounting beer, but sodas should also be the same affordable price. I think it would be bigger incentive for families to come. Also, I thought that hot dogs were $1 this night, I gave my son a $10 bill. He bought a hot dog and a soda, and returned with $.50. Something did not add up. The line was too long to go back and question the sale.

One place for dollar dogs and two dollar beer. It was ridiculas. Kids sat in stands for all of first period aond some of the second period while we waited in line. Many many people upset at being lured to game with this promotion, only to end up missin most of the game. This deal should have had multiple places to participate. At minimum beer and hot dog lines should have been seperated. Very, very dissapoibted and upset abou not getting family time on family night.

I was a huge Whalers fan, saw my first game in '73, attended University of Hartford in 77/78 when the roof collapsed and attended a number of Whaler games each year until they moved...now with the nest empty my wife and I decided to catch a game at the "Old Civic Center" and to hear Brass Bonanza again now that the Whale is back in business...we had a great time. We will definitely go again and hope that the NHL returns to Hartford where it belongs...

This was definitely an unforgettable game! First time I've ever seen a shootout..the crowd was overjoyed. I can't wait to see them play against each other again, both teams are really good and really competitive! First few minutes, both score a point, and then tied 3 to 3, with a deadlock even in overtime; I couldn't believe it.

The tickets were easy to get. The seating was awesome. In section 114 row "G" you could hear the bones crunch on the boards!!! The game was fantastic. The Whale smoked the Bruins. I am not sure the Bruins showed up 'till the last 10 moinutes of the third period. By then they made the show a bit better but were more help to showcase the Whale talent than to save themselves. With 5 goals and no "Hat-Trick" you can see this team has depth. Already planning the next trip to a game and recommended this to several friends!

The game itself was great because the Pack played well and went on to win 4-3. Our seats were section 115 row E which was neat because we were basically right up against the glass but at the same time it was hard to see down the other end because of the glass. Optimum seats would have been row H or I. You cannot beat the price on the family pack which comes with a souvenir, soda and hot dog or pizza. The Pack Attack team puts on a good show which creates a good atmosphere. The after game skate on Sunday's is a good experience for kids/adults because you get the opportunity to skate with some of the Pack players.

The seats we had were the best seats i've sat in yet. they were three rows from the ice row F in 113!!! The game was great! The only issue i have is i asked an EMPLOYEE if and where the chuck a puck was going on so i could buy some and TWO of them told me they didn't think they were doing it tonight then come to find out they brought the helmet out and started it in the second break. I was very unhappy knowledge the employee have that work there.

The seats smelled of urine. Spent the first two periods in lines at concessions stands. They kept running out of hot dogs, pretzels and pizza. Then ran out of a beer, too. Have pics of 8 people standing with their backs to the service counter while one register was in use with 50-60 people lined up at this particular stand. I would prefer to pay for the concessions i bring in myself (yes, buy them and then pay again for the privilege to bring them in to the game). When I finally did find a stand with hot dogs they did not have trays to bring the food and drinks back to the game. Ridiculous experience that I don't ever want to re-live.

the first period the Whale played well at first but let the falcons back in with goals late... The second period was the best I have seen them skate this year... Early in the third period it looked like the Falcons were coming back... But the Whale got back to good ways of the second period and even held off a late 6 on 5 for a much needed 2 points...

Saw the CT Whale on Sunday the 17th of February. It was a great game. we had seats 1 row from the glass behind the goal. Love wwatching the AHL players. They play the game for the love of the game. XL Center was clean, convenient and Game was truly great family entertainment. Very few places where a family can get reasonably priced Hockey tickets with professional level performance. So I would recommend , especially for a family looking for an afternoon or evening out.

For the price of one trip to a concession stand at an NHL game, our family had amazing seats and snacks. The Whale team has lots of famy friendly events throughout the game and the game itself is fast and exciting. We paid only $6 to park and we had only a short walk to the arena. All in all with today's prices this is a great way to live professional sports for a reasonable price.

My husband and I brought my 8 year old grandson to his first game. He loved it and we had excellent seats. His only disappointment was not getting his face on the big screen. We told him next time as he wants to go again as do we. We were at the very first game of the Whale and keep coming back. It is so nice to have a hockey team in CT to go watch that is closer than Bridgeport. It was a very good game and we are so happy the Whale won. Keep up the good work boys!

I enjoyed a very close game with my 10-year-old daughter, whereas the Whale won 2-1 in OT against the Admirals. The Whale works hard to provide a family-friendly atmosphere, and there's a lot of kids shown dancing on the jumbo tron, so it's very interactive. Some shwarmy game show-type roams the crowd with a mic, and of course there's Pucky the green whale. That being said, if you're not surrounded by lots of happy kids, you may get the heavy-drinking-loud-swearing adults that we ran into on Saturday night. My girl can handle it (she has that uncle everyone seems to have), but it could be awkward with some of the little ones I saw there. This was in section 203, and it probably can't be avoided at any sporting event these days. Also, the XL Center seems to be one of the most kid-friendly venues I've ever seen (and big-time cost friendly) compared to the NHL. All-in-all a great time.

Going to these games are fun rather it is for a date night or family night. They keep you entertained. You can even do the Larry ( a dance that a very dedicated fan does by moving your arms up and down). Great prices for a good game and excitement.

My girlfriend and I went and it was great. the atmosphere was fun and exciting it was a shame the Whale lost in OT but it didnt ruin the whole night at all. I wish more fans would go to games its not a bad price for a fun filled night. this was our 3rd game we went to 2 other games last season and that was a good time as well. I recommend it to anyone looking to get out for a fair price.

I moved to California 37 years ago. Last game I saw here was the old Whalers. Well the CT. Whale do not equal that caliber of play. Whales got beat 3 to 0 with Tigers making their first goal within the first minuet of the game. Tigers being the better team. Whales looked good moving up and down the ice with good passing. They sure had it hard getting a goal against the Tiger goalie, and the Whales goalie looked not up to par. All this with the Whale having more shots on goal through out the game. It was an exciting game that I enjoyed thoroughly through out the whole game. Will i go again? You betcha!!! We had great seats. All of the seats in the lower level have great views of the floor.

While NHL was on a lock out, we drove up to Hartford to see Conn Whale play and AHL game. Hockey is hockey and this was fun to watch. The arena was not very crowded, so you wonder how they cover their expenses, but the players were really professional in running their plays, defense, offense and a few fights. Much less trippng and holding than in the NHL. Keep up the good work and make it to the NHL

The Hockey game was great with alot of good plays on both sides of the ice. The only problem I have is paying $9 for a glass of wine or $9 for a beer. Also $7 for a cheese burger Yankee stadium & Madison Square Garden has cheaper price then that. Will go to Bridgeport to see what's going on there

The Whale was outplayed for 50 of the 60 minutes of this game and was lucky to win. The crowd was unenthusiastic and pretty sparse for a playoff game. There were also fewer eating places open than normal.
