The boys were back in town. This is the fourth time I have seen them over the years dating back to their first tour and it was awesome to see them together and performing at top form. Corey's voice is as strong as ever and Vernon was as his usual virtuoso self with extended solos and wildly flailing fingers. Will Calhoun was also as solid as ever on the drums and Doug Wimbush also had some awesome solo moments and was the most connected to the audience. My only beef is that they played too many songs from the first album when they have such an extensive catalog of songs since then.

I've seen LC live about five or six times, and they NEVER fail to disappoint. Their latest gig at Johnny Ds in Somerville, MA, was the best yet. This is by far one of the most under-rated live bands on the planet, thunderously good and remarkably slick. First they played the hits--the classics we all know and love--then they treated us to their new disc in its entirety. The new stuff sounded remarkable, the crowd rocked out accordingly, and I spent the rest of the night calling everyone I know -- everyone with excellent musical taste that is -- telling them to buy the new disc, "The Chair in the Doorway." Top-notch musicians, stellar vocals, crunching guitars, otherwordly bass and everything anchored by Will Calhoun's drums. Come back soon, guys... it's already been too long.

It was a real treat to experience Living Colour at such an intimate venue as The Birchmere. To hear live music played by "master musicians" these days is a real priveledge and I was able to tell the band exactly that after the show. My 19yr. old son, who accompanied me to this performance, was equally impressed. Being able to shake the guys hands and show our appreciation was a real treat. So much so that I'll be going to Annapolis to catch them at the Rams Head Tavern. The DMV has much love for the brotha's of Living Colour.

This was the first leg of L.C's latest tour ...but had they not announced this fact we would not have known it. Their energy was as muscular, raw, and aggressive as when I had the pleasure of seeing them on previous tours with the added bonus of a more close up and intimate venue. The Birchmere is a great venue EXCEPT with a band that brings "must .rock. it. out. " energy like living colour , why were there tables set up? No matter....by the end of "Either way" I was headbanging and by "Cult of personality" most everyone else was standing up , headbangin and rocking it out as well. There's no way you can stay seated at a Living Colour concert. NO WAY!....

great from begining to end. Corey Glover is the best frontman in rock and he still growls, hits those notes and keeps you laughing. Vernon makes it look effortless. Will is a modern day African wizzard on drums. And Doug Wimbish is the cosmic thundermaster. if they were playing again tonight i'd see them again.

The opening band Grind City was a very pleasant surprise. They played with reckless abandon and tireless energy. The guitarist and drummer were exceptional. The entire band was very good and I expect to see much more of them in the future. I actually bought their CD. Now for the most underrated rock band on the planet "Living Colour". This was the first show of the tour and you could truly see that they were ironing out kinks and shaking off the rust. Nonetheless, they sounded awesome and each band member was a show unto themselves. Vernon Reid is truly a very underrated guitarist and his work on the new CD is breath taking. Corey Glover was spot on with his vocals and has tremendous range. Will Calhoun is a beast on drums and Doug Wimbish has the most important and thankless job of holding down the groove which he does very well. Overall the show was awesome and it's a shame that they don't get the glory and attention they deserve. Today's bands pale in comparison to this underrated Super Group!

Great energy and musicians have chops. Great singer. Veteran band not served well by the sound guy. Their studio and live albums sound great and are mixed well. I have seen them twice live and both times the sound is bright, not cohesive and is simply inferior to their released product. Wimbish is a great bass player and his sound was muddy all night. Bass was there but notes were indistinguishable. I saw Saigon Kick there in Dec. and their sound was excellent. Warm, organic, separated, distinct. You could follow whatever musician you wanted to easily.

seeing living colour was one of my greatest dreams. even though i havent followed them from the begining i started listening to them shortly after hearing cult of personality on the game gta san andreas. ever sense i hear that song i was like "i need to know who they are" i listened to the entire album vivid and it was the greatest album ive heard. so when i saw they were playing in fl i needed to go. my girlfriend surprised me with tickets and we went together. the show was amazing. everyone singing along to open letter to a landlord gave me chills and dougs solo with the bass was amazing vernons guitar skills are the best ive heard up there with jimmy page himself as muzz said vernon comes in stays for a little then just takes off. cory even being 50 sounded like he does on their first album vivid by far greatest vocalist alive. then after the show they stayed to sign shirts and meet the fans i got to meet vernon outside going to the car to get something before i saw them and got to shake hands with a guitar legend. they even all signed a magic card of mine which i thought was really cool and nice of them. everyone needs to experience living colour at least once in their life.

It had been many years since I have seen Living Colour, and I was not disappointed. As a unit, they played a tight set. The solos performed by Doug Wimbish, and Will Calhoun were mermorable. Corey Glover really cut loose on Open Letter. Vernon Reid...the guy is as breathtaking as when I saw them in the early '90's. I cannot recommend this show enough. As a bonus, the band stayed and signed/took pictures with the fans for almost an hour. It was almost seven years since they played in our area, and was definitely worth the wait.

I cannot say enough good things about these guys. It was an amazing show and great setlist. They were all totally on fire! Plus the bass and drum solos belong in an asylum. Crazy good. I am surprised they were playing this venue as it is relatively small (less than 1k I believe). But, the intimate setting was quite nice. I got there 20 minutes before the posted showtime and was able to get the very first row for this mostly SRO GA show. I was right in front of Reid's monitors. (I'm glad I brought earplugs which I do not usually need to do. But, with said plugs the sound was close to perfect. And I'm sure people further back wouldn't need them.) Also I need to mention how nice all the guys were. They all stayed around at the merch table after the show posing for pics and signing autos for anyone who wanted one. All four of them are class acts all the way.

Another great show from a great band! I've seen them at least half a dozen times over the years and every show is amazing, you will never walk away from a Living Colour show disappointed. This is only my 2nd time seeing Living Colour but each time they have put on an amazing show. Apart from being phenomenal musicians they are funny too. Their show is not cookie cutter, they interact with the audience and seemed to genuinely care that we all had a great time. Even if you think you only know one or two songs you have to see them live.

Living Colour has been around since 1988. They have been one of my favorite bands ever since. I'm sure I played their first album 'VIVID' at least a thousand times (actually it was on cassette). This concert was at a fairly small venue, less than 700 person capacity. However, Living Colour played like there was 10,000 people there. They have so much energy and sounded amazing live. They played for more than 90-minutes straight. I loved every song they played. If you like Living Colour even a little bit, do yourself a favor and see them live. You will not be disappointed.

If you love Living Colour as much as I do, then I don't really need to say much. However, I'll just give you a little information. The fans were showing big love to Living Colour, and they were showing it right back to us. The band seemed like they were as happy to be there as we are to have them, and they played their butts off. It's quite a sight to see a master of his craft do his thing; well, I saw four at the same time, and I think I'm still buzzing from the experience. My only complaint is that they missed a song on the set list that I really wanted to hear. Hopefully, next time they come through, they'll remember to play it.

Having not seen Living Colour live onstage but once in the past 20 years, I was anxiously waiting for this show at the Culture Room in Ft Lauderdale. And it was well worth the wait! Living Colour is a finely tuned machine - a big loud, conglomerate of rock, funk, and social commentary, plus a welcome sense of humor lacking in many of today's artists. They hit the stage with a vengeance, tearing through their first 3 albums, and bonding with the crowd immediately. The show was heavy with material from their first album "Vivid", but they also played tracks from 'Time's Up" and "Stain" as well, and the crowd loved it all. If you want to see a great hard rock show, without any bells, whistles, or BS, do yourself a favor and go see Living Colour. Why this band is not in the (so-called) Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame is beyond me... Fantastic show!

The concert was amazing! I didnt know what to expect as I only listened to their first CD way back in 1990, but they had a great mix of songs from all of their five or so albums. Great performers, very personable with the crowd, and just overall fantastic! Been following LC since they came out.Their individual mastery of their instruments was overwhelming. When you bring it all together they just play off of each other. The musicianship these guys have was magical to watch.I had fun watching them have fun on stage.Corey and Vernon worked the crowd. After the show they greeted fans that stuck around.Very down to earth musicians.I've been playing drums since I was a kid and have been playing live since 1984,Wil Calhouns drumming is an inspiration to me,your never to old to learn something by watching a great musician. So the answer to the question "What's our favorite color baby"?.....LIVING COLOUR!!!!

If you're a Living Colour fan, you know what to expect from their live shows: amazing musicianship, humor, great fan interaction, etc., and this show was no exception. Corey's voice hasn't lost any range or power, and the rest of the guys are musical wizards. If you've never seen them live, do so ASAP! Songs like "Cult of Personality", "Funny Vibe" and the Tracy Chapman song "Talkin bout a Revolution" are just as relevant now as they were 30 years ago. The average age of the crowd was about 45, so there was no mosh pit like in days gone by (I had to contain myself a few times!). I hadn't been to the Howard Theater before, but it was a great, intimate setting. The staff was pleasant, beer was cold, etc. I didn't try any food. My only disappointment is they didn't play "Open Letter to a Landlord".

This was just a show beyond belief. The band has lost NONE of its potency. Corey Glover's voice was as powerful and versatile as ever, and the other guys sounded as tight as their records. What I also liked but did not expect is how playful they were on stage, goofing around with each other, having fun on the stage, making it more about an interactive show than most bands do. Many bands out there touring now could learn a thing or two about stage presence from these guys. Will Calhoun's drum solo was amazing!!! If I could give a show 6 stars, I would give them to Living Colour. Do yourself a favor and see them ON THIS TOUR while they're doing the entire Vivid album!!!

So Living Colour is playing the complete album Vivid, followed by some of their later songs in a rocking two-hour show. A throwback to be sure, coming 25 years after their debut album brought some really new impulses to rock music. Musically, they were at the sparsely populated intersection of hard rock, pop, blues, and jazz, which is littered with the wreckage of failed attempts at fusion. Living Colour were able to pull it off, because their mix amounts to a melodic hard rock that has its own groove, and just rocks! They're all skilled musicians who put their heart into the music. And even 25 years later, the energy is there! Corey Glover now looks a little like Keenan Thompson playing Granddad, but his voice is amazing. And bassist Doug Wimbish, guitarist Vernon Reid, and drummer Will Calhoun provide a wall of sound that gets the (of course, somewhat older) audience riled up. All in all, a great sold-out show!

This show was unbelievable. Living Colour is just as good now as they were when they hit the scene 25 years ago. I wish only more people knew who they were. Their music was and is still ahead of its time. The world wasn't ready for them back then, and they're still not ready for them. The crowd was into the music, knowing all the lyrics, and joining in when Corey turned the mic to the audience. Vernon Reid may be a better guitarist 25 years later than he was when they recorded this album. To say he was incredible is doing him a disservice. Corey's voice is still amazing. Hitting lows and high pitched screams whenever he wanted. His voice is one of the most underrated voices in music history. Doug Wimbish plays the bass like no other. At one time during the show, he played a solo as if it were a guitar, hitting notes a bass shouldn't make. Will Calhoun is a beast on the drums. His solo near the end of the show rocked like a small fishing boat on the high seas during a storm. Unbelievable! In all, the show was incredible, and I wish I could see them in another 25 years and see how they rock it, then.

Living Colour continues to lay down amazing sets live. This is one of the most underappreciated basds in the last 20 years. Much more than just Cult of Personality. Reid, Calhoun, and Wimbish are elite musicians, fronted by the equally prolific Glover on vocals. Band played several classics and a lot from the new album. the new material was a sgoods as the older stuff, if not better live. Band mixed in a sweet cover of Papa Was a Rolling Stone! Dough Wimbish perfromed bass solo from the crowd, Will Calhoun' mind blowing beats, Vernon absolutely destroyed his guitar and Glover was full of soul power.

i'm an biased for sure as they have always been my favorite group and i had been waiting 20 years for this show but it still managed to outlive my expectations. how many other group that made it big in the 80s(or any decade past for that matter)can you say are this adaptive, fresh, and innovative? they have always pushed the envelope and still are. the new tunes are in step with band's ethos but, at the same time, a departure in that they're not quite as lyrically direct and challenge the listener to discover an interpretation for themselves. and about that sound? DAMN! i haven't heard anything that massive and distinctive outside of a symphonic setting. my ears are still wobbling. it's hard for me to understand anybody not digging some aspect of one of the greatest rock acts of all time.

I took my fourteen old son and three of his band mates to watch a truly talented group of musicians. The virtuousity of the entire band was amazing. It showed my son and his friends the possibilities of what could be done with a guitar, bass, drums or vocals. They command the stage and play with an intensity that hits you in the gut. These guys can rock n roll. After the show they were as friendly and accomodating as any group I've been around, signing autographs, taking pictures and encouraging young muscians that they are the future, all very warm individuals who enjoy enteracting with their fans. Some lasting memories were created and kids inspired, a really great experience and show.

What a roaring, massive-sounding show -- in a historic music venue where you could connect with the band! Living Colour was in fabulous form, heavier than five Led Zeppelins but buoyant and having great fun on stage, keeping things loose and engaged with the full-house audience. They shared many selections from the new album, "The Chair in the Door," to thunderous approval -- that material is as good as anything they've ever done. The guys were also warm and generous with their time afterwards, staying put to sign and chat with hundreds of fans. Here's wishing them safety and great success on this tour.

I've seen Living Colour live four times (1991, somewhere in the mid 2000's, 2016 & 2017). Every time, it's been the same story: venue was not packed, but the band absolutely slayed. This is a band with a loyal fanbase that should be far larger. If you get a chance to see them in your area, they're not just the "Cult of Personality" guys. Their palette is wide, and each member is a virtuoso. The combined effect is far greater than the sum of the parts. For this show, we did the VIP experience to meet-and-greet with the band, and they're very warm and welcoming mellow fellows. Vernon Reid shared a few fun stories with all of the VIPs, very memorable experience before the show. This was my first time at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, and it exceeded expectations. It's a smaller venue (900 or so capacity), which means everyone gets to see the show close-up. Great sound, very easy parking, very laid back overall. Loved it.

This is the 3rd time I watch them play live and always take my hat off, they can go from Jazz riffs to hard chords and virtuous guitar solos. Drums and bass as always firm as a truck. Its a must seen!!! Great venue also to watch any band.

Have been a fan for decades but never seen them live in concert. We drove 5 hours to DC to see this concert. Great performance, Corey really engaged the crowd. They played a mix of stuff from various albums. Loved the encore which was The Clash's should I stay or should I go. These guys can still jam like they did 20+ years ago.

When I heard that Living Colour would be performing at the intimate Northern Lights Theatre I was ecstatic. It truly is the best venue and the best way to see a band up close here in Milwaukee. I had not seen the band in almost a decade (last time was at Summerfest) so I was excited to see them again. I am so glad this band is still out there performing together. When they hit it big in 1989, it was the first time I had seen or heard an african/american metal band. They were all over rado & MTV & I truly think their debut LP is one of the best hard rock/metal albums of the 80`s. The band is a little older now but can still bring the funk!! Corey still has a great voice & Vernon is truly an underrated guitar player. They played songs from their whole career. Of course my favorites were from their debut album. A truly great show at a great place to see a show!!

Corey Glover has to be the best front man today. He's able to befriend you yet give the audience that "funny vibe" while screaming through edgy sometimes uncomfortable issues. The interaction with the rest of the band is entertainment in itself. After climbing to the balcony during Cult of Personality, Corey started to introduce Will's solo, "one more tune first,"interrupted Vernon. A little chuckle and Vernon goes off on one of awesome runs wowing the crowd. Doug confirms the emotion of a line or lick with his bag if tricks and Will displays consistently why he's still one of the greatest rock drummers around. 25-30years have had no ill effects on these guys except their even greater command of the music and current issues of today. We literally ran into them after the show and were humbled by their friendliness and gratitude. Great musicians, great people, great show!

Closest I've ever stood watching an incredible band perform their arsenal. Vernon, Doug and Will rock hard and effortless while Corey's vocals kicked ass. Highs and lows were as strong as he was on record. Even though we didn't know all the songs, we got into every single one and wanted more! Well done guys. Hope you decide to go back to writing new ones. We need more funky rock with a message

See Living Colour live if you get a chance. Their mix sounded great at Keswick Theatre. They played for around an hour and fifty minutes. They don't do many dates anymore. This was my first time seeing them, and I enjoyed. it. Corey can still sing.

The opening act(s) was the school of rock. It was basically like a high school talent show. I appreciate giving kids a chance to show their talents but did not feel this was an appropriate time or place (IMHO). Living Colour seemed to be a little off their game. At one point, Corey Glover commented after for a mistake with "we're getting old". there also seem to be some issues with the sound. For example, when the drummer attempted to hit electronic equipment to his left nothing was audible. This occurred during the the songs and even the drum solo.

True art stands the test of time and the purest proof of this is getting to here the tunes from Vivid performed live by the Masters of Rock. It takes 4 musical geniuses at the top of their craft to blaze a night of brilliant songs , from Desperate People to the anthem of all anthems Cult of Personality, and every note in between, and play them tight and make it feel loose. If there any tickets left to a show in this tour within 500 miles of where you are, you should be paying for them right now and counting the minutes before you get to see it!

Unknown to me was the opening act Year of the dragon, but a good group bought some of their music at the concert, I like both cd's. Living Colour, 25 years strong, great group, first saw them back in '88 or '89, the opening act for the Rolling Stones. See both groups.

As usual, this band shows you how good it can get,and even with a small croud at Jaxx on Saturday night, completely killed it...they are the most underrated band of the last 25 years...Period!!! I saw there shows in L.A. back in the 80's and they only get better and harder...Unbelievable!!! "Stain" should be taught to music students as a lesson in creativity...It is still far ahead and better than most anything you listen to today...I hope that they continue the journey and come back this way again...Europe is waiting eagerly for them...Good luck, fellas...Thank you once again for your talent and generosity with us, your lucky and humble fans...

A friend and I were looking for something to do on a Tuesday night, and I happened to come across the listing for this show. I only knew a few songs by the band, but took a chance anyways. The band sounded great live, and were excellent musicians. We both had a great time, and left the show gaining a new appreciation for them. I have been looking for some new music to listen to lately, and think I have found the answer.

Living Colour's sound was off and is wasn't the venue because Fishbone ROCKED! WE left 1/2 ay thru LC, sorry guys but it just was not that riviting, we were expecting more from them but FISHBONE made us very vary happy with the overall experience event. Would have given 5 stars just for Fishbon but because of LC's being really a let down it gets a 4.

They played the popular songs, but to me, not the one's the diehard fans would have liked to hear. There's no doubt every member of the band is talented! Just wish they would have played a few songs from albums other than 'Vivid'.

My husband and I used to go see the band every time they came to town when their first few albums were out. --Yes, we were stalkers.--Anyway, we followed them through their first few albums, loving every minute of their high-powered live shows. Fast forward to twenty years later and here we are to see what the crew has been up to. The first part of their set consisted of all the old favorites from "Vivid," "Time's Up," and "Stain." --Calhoun wowed the audience with an extended drum solo that included triggered loops and lighted drumsticks.--The second half of their set, however, introduced us to selections from the new album ("Chair in the Doorway"). While I enjoyed the change of pace--from the hard-hitting groove-oriented rock to the more alternative Smashing Pumpkins-esque rock sound--I could tell that many of the die-hard core fans were not feeling it. I was certainly digging "Burned Bridges" and the dance-friendly "DecaDance," which allowed all of us to hustle in the aisles, even while the message of the song was dark and disturbing. Again, my husband and I both appreciated the new spin on their sound, which shows that they are growing into newer and equally "musical" directions. I dug it so much that I came home to buy the newest album. As for the live show, given what we had come to expect from their show--Corey Glover parading around in a Body Glove suit and slinging his dread-locked mohawk to and fro AND an incredible pyramid-like light rig and show--I was somewhat disappointed. While I know the venue was much smaller--the Magic Bag Theater--I also know that there was no glam--no visual appeal--to the show. Glover's drab gray prison-like jumpsuit and shaved head with a golf cap did nothing to stimulate the senses. Also, his movement was minimal, which made it less theatrical than we're used to. In fact, it was all about the music, which, in this case, wasn't bad, however, it is less than what we had come to expect from the live show. Overall, though, we felt that we got our money's worth. Plus, it was fun seeing all the fellow "old geezers" at the show, which reminded us of how long it's been since we've seen them. I would definitely recommend the show. The musical chops were there and there was musical growth that made the experience immensely enjoyable.

From the opening of Middleman, to the closing encore of jimi Hendrix Crosstown Traffic, Who Knows ? and What's your favorite color ? Living Colour was vary vivid and in as they say in the business " In rare form " I Have not seen these guys since 1989' at the Riviera Theatre, i think they were here in 2002' at the Metro, but i missed them but they were well worth the wait of course they have more songs, now and are as polished, as any band can be no disrespect,to Muzz Skillings, but Doug Wimbish is a big inprovement on bass he kept the bass in our face all night Vernon did what he does Cory's voice, is much stronger than before and Will's drumming, was banging . Musician wise L.C. can match up with any band dead or alive. The Version of Papa was a rolling stone really took the crowd by surprise, and everybody loved it the songs, from the new CD they played were hot , a lot of people did'nt know the songs being new, but they still felt them . I Recorded the show last night i was far away from the stage so i think the audio came out better than video i have'nt put it on the tv yet even if it turns out bad i just ordered Living Colour Live in Paris DVD, and i was there last night .

Okay, the band sounded great, the set list was good except I would like to have heard Nothingness. Rarely can a band keep up the melody - especially accross vocals - and still rock it up to eleven.

The instruments were WAY TOO loud. I think they need a new stage crew. The performance was also pretty sloppy. I know it was a live performance, but it sounded like ameteurs trying to play songs from the Living Colour debut album. I left 4 songs into it, and I used to be a big fan! :(

They are the black Led Zeppelin. Instead of rehashing blues lyrics about lemons and pies; Living Colour sing about social issues that impact everyone. None of the self-indulgent shredders can touch vernon reid's style and honesty. The question is why aren't they as popular as U2 or Coldplay? Is it a racial thang? Is it because they demand the listener to think instead just feel? Oh the mystery. I am thrilled that the show was sold out and it was terrific to see them in smaller venue.

I have seen this band multiple times in the 80's and early 90's, last nights show blew away any expectation that I had for the show. Powerful, soulful, and really, really amazing. Vernon Reid and Doug Wimbish are both virtuoso's, the fact that they are on stage at the same time melting faces is awesome. Wil Calhoun drums like no one else providing a bottom end to the band that is Zepplin like. Cory's vocals have such range that I believe he can sing anything he wants to and it will be amazing. Together, they make one of the best bands around. See the show if they come to your area, I pray that they come back to Chicago after they go overseas. I love you guys.
