John Valby

When I started listening to John Valby, I was a teenager: and this was an R-rated show! But, at 74, he is as lively and filthy as he was 30 years ago! DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS unless they are adults and love raunchy humor. I have not laughed so much in one evening in my entire life. Worth every penny.

Dr. Dirty was great. The stting was wonderful, clean and spacious. Everyone was nice and went out of their way to be kind and helpful. Two thumbs up!!! Will return.

He outdid himself for his final appearance at the hukelau before they tear it down

Went as part of my cousin's bachelor party, and it couldn't have been better. Valby clearly has years of experience working the crowd -- and he wasn't afraid to tell the sound and lights guys adjust levels for maximum enjoyment ("can you turn these lights off back here -- they f*** with these guys in the front row") Be prepared for an extremely dirty show -- he'll make fun of everything and everyone, so don't bring your mother. I would definitely see this again, and would bring everyone (except my mother) Croc. rock cafe was great too -- a dive, but in a good way. Don't expect doilies and teacups, but at least the floors aren't (too) sticky. Really though, a perfect venue for this kind of show.

Valby played old favorites and new topical songs. The fans were friendly. The Altar Bar is an amazing venue! There aren't many seats, but it is roomy and the stage is easy to see. The staff was excellent. We are looking forward to returning!

John valby has a great musical and audience participation show. If you get into his humor a little bit I reccomend you go see a show if he comes around. It's clearly adult humor and not for the squeamish or easily offended. Prior to the show and at every chance, he meets as much of his audience as possible. I was able to talk to him for a few minutes as well as get a couple autographed CD's. Great guy and even better show

Valby's show was very short. I have been going to his shows for over ten years and after this one I think I as well as the rest of my group are finished.

PPP went on @ 8:15 PM, followed by Otto & George & then Dr. Dirty. Otto & George were GREAT, as always but Dr. Dirty was done @ 9:40PM. Considering the cost of Premium seats, and the exorbitant "convenience charge" of $7.25 each & "building charge" of $1.00 each, 2 tickests for a 1 & 1/2 hr. show of 3 comedians was disappointing! Have seen Otto & George several times before and always had 30-35 minutes of hilarious material. Show seemed "rushed"! Premium seating "SUCKS"! Too many people stuffed into cramped space! At least the place is finally A/C'd though.

I thought it was a good show. Very dirty and disturbing, just the way I like it.

These 3 were great for a fun night out! Otto & George were freakin hilarious. John Valby gets everyone goin with his out going musical wit. Its definately better live. As dirty as you want it to be. I laughed from start to finish. Dont miss out on this show! I would go again & again!

the weekest part of the whole show was otto and George you could watch his lips move with mouth open the whole show , not that he wasn't funny . And Paul Parsons wasn't bad but had to use his notes the whole time he was up there. John Valby was just as funny as always He puts on a good show. but the whole show could have been just him!! The over all length of the show to me was short it started late about 8;15 and was done by 9:40 at best my biggest problem was way to crowded ever row of seats should have had at least 2 chairs taken out on each side instead of 16 go with 12 didn't need to know weather the guy next to me showered or not!! My set had 12 good size guys and 4 ladies

Girlfriend talked me into going! Really enjoyed the show. JV is very talented. His original creations and the songs he has "twisted" are gut-busting funny. John gets the crowd involved (my girlfriend included!). If you like musical comedy that's rated R, then you need to see this show.

I have never seen John Valby live before but have listened and sang along to his zany "cassette" tapes from the 80's. Even though he is 72 now, he is just as funny, entertaining, wacky, and offensive as always. We laughed the entire show. I must warn you however, if you have never seen his shows before, it is not for the easily offended. I would see him over and over again!

He is great but if u get offended easily don't do it!

The last time we saw John Valby was about 30 years ago. He is still as irreverent as always. It was quite the adult comedy. What a night of laughs!

john puts an a hell of a show, and has his thing for current events to, keeps it old and new

The show was awesome, from the opening act to the end. My husband and I have seen him a few times back in our younger years, thought we would be the oldest ones there...we were wrong!!! what a diverse crowd, all ages and he was spot on...made me feel 20+ years younger! Would def. go see him again :)

Dr. Dirty puts on a great show. You would never guess his age unless you did the math.

The entire event was awesome. The staff was very attentive. Beer a little pricey, but so what !!!!

I seen John 20 plus years ago and hes still just as funny. Yes he can be raunchy but who cares.... Hes Dr Dirty. Great to see time hasnt slowed him down and he doesnt look 70. Keep singing and telling poems Dr !!!!!!!!

First of all, there is no disputing that John Valby is a great entertainer. The reason I only give 3 stars is more to my experience rather than his performance. What I mean is this. His set-up is rather simple. One microphone and one piano (electric keyboard). First of all, for some reason, rather than have the keyboard face the audience so that when he plays it he can look left or right and see the whole room (and everyone see him), he set the piano up so that the people on the right side of the room saw him straight on while we, on the left, looked at his back all night. He may have a very good reason for doing this that I'm unaware of which is certainly his prerogative. What I had a real problem with is the fact that he didn't use the house sound system. John Valby is all about his histarical lyrics and being able to hear them clearly. Rather than using the house system, he brought his own sound system. In my opinion, this wouldn't have been a problem if he had brought a large enough system for the room size. I'm not a sound engineer but I have been using sound systems for 30+ years and 4 JBL EON's (speakers), was not enough for that large room. He had two speakers set on the floor facing straight out and two others (on chairs!) facing slightly to the left and to the right. I'm sure the people in front and just off to the left and right had decent sound but this left everyone on the far left and right straining to hear what he was saying. 2 more speakers to cover the far left and right would have solved this problem. Also, either his mic needed to be turned up or his piano turned down. Often when he was playing hard (on a touch sensitive keyboard the harder you hit the keys, the louder it is), his vocals were buried and you couldn't understand the lyrics at all. I can only assume that he didn't use the house sound system due to cost savings but I can tell you this, if he had used it or simply brought 2 more speakers, this review would have been 5 stars. Bottom line is as an entertainer, he's great!

Unfortunately due to my boyfriend of 36 years old forgetting to bring his ID due to his short term memory loss from a car accident years ago when an 18 wheeler hit him head on that he barely lived through. We drove the hour to the show and was unable to attend because we weren't about to leave him in the car waiting for us and it was him who really wanted to go :(I probably would have recommended it if we had been able to attend and I'm sure it would have been a great show.

Started off bad hukelau staff frigged the seating up so we didntbget the seats we paid for! After that debacle everything was great Mr Valby didn't let anyone down he pretty much ripped everyone in the building! He drank like a fish and it started to show but he kept it flowing! Good show!!

I purchased the tickets for my husband's birthday and thought I would just enjoy watching him laugh. I was wrong. I laughed so hard and had such a good myself. The show is all you would expect from "Dr. Dirty". Great time!!!

Absolutely one hell of a great time...my sides ached the next day from laughing so much!!! The only downside was the show only lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes.

It was a great show. Just wished it was a little longer an hour and a half seemed a little short for the $30. Tickets I bought. Other then that absolutely amazing show.

John Valby is one of the best times you can ever have on a night out. Be warned, he is extremely dirty and attacks all genders, races and even disabled which is what makes him the great time that he is. I make every show possible and will continue to do so as long as the Old F#@*er comes around.

I've seen John all over for many years, first time at Showcase live. The crowd wasn't your typical crowd, well dressed, respectable. He even made a comment that at first he thought they were prudes..lol!!! By the end of the show the crowd liked him, by far the best place I've seen him other than going to CT the Fri before Christmas at Toads place..

Same show as always, funnier than sh*t!!! Some new stuff mixed in to keep it fresh, but just a rocking good time! He knows what works, and does it. About the 5th time I've seen him, will ABSOLUTELY go again!

First time seeing Dr. Dirty and can say we were pleased with his performance. We listened to work before and knew we wanted to see the show.

I expected to laugh and be grossed out but he was beyond my expectations. Very entertaining! Loved it! Face hurt from laughing so much!

When my boyfriend had me listen to John Valby's shows on YouTube I was pretty appauled, but I got the tix bc he likes him so much. It was actually a GREAT show. He is funny and clever! Yeah it was raunchy, but I laughed the whole time. Can't believe the guy is 66 yrs old! We will definitely be there next year to see him.

the show was great as usual, what we didnt like was the service at Turning Stone..never could get a drink through the whole show because the waitress ignored us...

there's a reason they call him Dr Dirty, but his shows are a blast. You may feel like you need a shower once you leave the show, but you'll realize just how much you sing and shout along with the show as well when you're done. If you get into rough and sometimes gross humor, it's something that sticks with you. Even if you don't get into his kind of humor, it's well worth the shock value. not only that, but he plays a great piano. I'll be going back again, it's always a great time

My second Dr. Dirty show, this year. Yes, he's that good! As always Dr. Dirty comes, sees, conquers, and provides many laughs in his song and show. Today also happens to be his 66th birthday. Happy Birthday John Valby! I'd give you the middle finger and a shot of Patron! I liked the new material he busted out since he was here 6 months or so ago, along with all the classics that still make me smile!

The show is great. It's even dirtier than you expect it to be. Not for those that do not like crude or dirty humor. I enjoyed it though. I wouldn't even think to say one tenth of what comes out of Dr. Dirty's mouth, but it's quite entertaining none the less. I left off one star because I was not impressed with the venue, Altar Bar. There are not enough places to sit and the mixed drinks were terrible. Either no carbination (straight sweet syrup) or all fizz and no flavor. This was disappointing.

I was looking for a comedy show I had no idea that this guy would be singing the whole time and slandering woman. My fiance and I were appaulled. Ticket master and the whomever hosts and sells his tickets should really explain on the website what he does. Many other woman thta went to this event were quite disgusted as well. Also we went in a party of two my fiance and I. When we got there there was a guy sitting in my seat so he moved into his seat but he left the crubs all over the table where I had to sit becasue he ate in my seat. Not very sanitary... and then they sat my fiance across the table instead of next to me. So I had two guys who were complete strangers sitting next to me which at an event like this was uncomfortable because they were screaming the whole time out swears and vulgarity and you could see the spit shooting out of there mouths and to tell you the trouth my fiancee and I were afraid to drink our scorpian bowl beacause of it. We had to stay through most of the show because we had ordered food and had to eat but we almost just paid the bill and left it was that inappropriate and a bad experience.

Great time! Want to laugh, so see this! It is pretty raunchy at times, but very funny.

John "Dr. Dirty" Valby was an extremely fun interactive show. He got the audience involved in all his songs, and was hilarious to boot. Some oldies but goodies, and some new material. Dr. Dirty does it again!!! Singing the songs that are on all our minds. Sincerely, Nick

This guy has been around for ever, he sells out every venue he makes. weather at a local pub or a large showroom....very entertaining for old and new patrons. His material never gets old..... One Sick Bastard who knows what his fans want to hear...... Just wish the event was a little longer......could of played for a few nore minutes.... But I feel that the Turning Stone wanted to ended it sooner so people would leave and gamble....No Money to be made when people are at a concert.......

This was my first time seeing John Valby. I first heard him on a bootleg tape over twenty years ago. I knew he was filthy and there's not one word in the english language that he's afraid to use, and that includes the "c" word and the "n" word. For someone like me who is unoffendable and who understands that the act is all in fun and not designed to offend but to celebrate that here in America we have free speech whose limits should always be flirted with, the show was pure fun in the risque style of early 1900's vaudeville. The audience was half the fun. He has a cult following and there are some very uninhibited women who were not afraid to get up on stage and flash their boobs. I can't wait to go again!

I have seen Valby many, many times over the years, and even at 65, he is as good and entertaining as he was when he was in his 30's. Two great sets, mixing political and sexual parody songs. His interaction with the fans is always fantastic, whether during the show, or during the intermission where I got a chance to talk to him and request a couple of songs (that he sang in the second part of the show). A great show. Can't wait for him to come around again. Not a show for those without a good sense of humor and for those easily offended.

He never fails. 2nd time seeing him. As long as you can deal with the with the cursing he is one of the funniest one's out there.

My parents saw him on their first date 36 years ago so for christmas i bought them tickets to go see him again. I grew up hearing his tapes and I absolutly loved the show. Everyone had a great time and we look foward to going again.

Opening act was funnier. It appears you either love him or hate him. It is evident he has a following because most of the crowd already knew his material and would sing along with him. I had been waiting along time to see him. I first heard a tape of his back in the 80's and thought it was funny. Now that I saw him was disappointed.

I got these tickets as a gift for my brother, a long time fan! Not only did he love the show as I knew he would, but our whole group enjoyed the time! If anyone remotely likes any of his stuff, a show in person is 10x better!
