Say Anything

SAY ANYTHING IN CONCERT:Emo/pop punk band Say Anything have mastered the art of penning infectious, melodic pop songs without losing their edge, continually pushing their sound  forward by incorporating elements from genres as far-ranging as math rock and indie pop. The band expertly balances their high-octane material with frontman Max Bemis' softer side, treating fans at their live shows to the full gamut of sonic experience, from frenetic barn burners like "Alive With the Glory of Love" to introspective acoustic songs like "Belt." With their highly anticipated eighth album Hebrews due out in the summer of 2014, the band will hit the road on tour in support of the release.BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:Formed in Los Angeles in 2000, Say Anything self-released their first two EPs, Junior Varsity and In Your Dreams, as well as their debut full-length Baseball:  An Album by Sayanything.

Absolutely perfect. I've been a fan of Say Anything for years but this was my first time seeing them live, and it was everything I could have hoped for plus more. The opening acts sounded great and Say Anything killed it. The venue was also very nice, I was in the very front when Say Anything came on, and towards the back when the opening acts were on and I could still see very well. Bottom line, it was great and I'm already planning on seeing Say Anything again at Riot Fest.

All of the bands were amazing! After Eisley played, you can feel the energy grow from the crowd. When they came out, they put out this energy that got everyone excited. So yes, they do know how to put on a show, and I would definitely recommend anyone to listen to them live!

Say Anything rocked the hous; House of Blue, that is! Their presence was commanding and engaging. Professionals to the hilt, they knew how to work the crowd, which set the stage for a great rock show. Definitely a band worth seeing, at a venue that accomodates every type of concert goer.

Liked Reggie, Saves the Day was okay and wanted MORE Say Anything. By time they came on my back hurt so bad from standing til 6:30; bands don't play until 8:00; had to leave before hearing more of Say Anything because the crowd wanted more because my back hurt so bad.

I've seen Say Anything quite a few times and this was not what I expected. I was definitely excited to see them play ...Is A Real Boy all the way through, but unfortunately Max was sick, but that wasn't why it was terrible. The whole band was off and I had to sit through Saves the Day, a band that should've hung it up 10 years ago. This show was not at all what I expected and it was a giant waste of money.

Seriously insane concert as always! Say Anything killed it! 7th or so time Ive seen them and they never dissapoint! Is A Real Boy... Was A Real Boy... made me wonder if I was even real being there. Saves the Day crushed it rounding off there set of Through Being Cool with some songs from Stay What You Are and a few from other eps and records. Including Jesse and my Whetstone. Reggie and the Full Effrct were really comical, yet brought awesome sound as the opener along with outragous final song done by Sexy Cop. Overall Amazing!

I bought these for my sister for her birthday. Her reaction was super excited and couldn't wait for the show. I received Facebook messages to say not only that she had a great time, but also my mom who went with her had a great time. And she has a much bigger appreciation for Say Anything. So all in all I could say it was a great purchase.

Reggie and the Full Effect and Say Anything were great, even though I didn't know the first band. Saves the Day, however, played between them and their set was over an hour long and they were not very good entertainers. I try to give all musicians the benefit of the doubt if I've never listened to them before, but even after getting home and looking up the studio versions of their songs they were still awful. The venue was really neat, alcohol available in all areas with a valid ID. Big place, would definitely visit this venue again.

I will never not go to Say Anything shows because they are hands down the absolute best band I have ever seen live. Even if you only know a few of their songs, I would recommend going to a show. I fall in love with them again every time I go see them. What to expect: high energy, great showmen, and a really fun community of fans. The venue (Stage AE) harbored a really cool atmosphere. Bar service was a little on the slow side (as to be expected at any event), so just be sure to grab your brew about fifteen minutes before the set starts.

I've always been a huge fan of Max Bemis. His music has gotten me through a lot in my life and seeing them live was a dream come true. Max was so thankful to the crowd and he seemed very humble. The venue is nice as they have a decent smoking section outside. They played with The Front Bottoms who are really good, but the band that opened was sick! Theyre called You Blew It! and their drummer goes hard. They opened the show with great energy and that energy carried all the way throughout the show. SA's set list was pretty rad too. When Sheri came out with their baby my heart melted. Such good vibes that night. Can't wait for their next shindig. And I gave SA's merch guy a note for Max, hope you got it!

The Front Bottoms are an amazing band to see headlining, and to have them opening for Say Anything was a treat. Anyone who DIDNT go to this show missed out on a great experience with awesome people and tons of fun. I heard about this awhile back and I was super excited to see that the front bottoms were playing near me so I knew I had to see them. I ended up buying tickets last minute (bad idea to get them last minute by the way lol) and the show was amazing! I met all the bands and they were all awesome people, except the lead singer for 'the so so glos' he was a douche, but it was still one of the best shows ive been to in awhile. The only thing I didnt like about the venue was there seemed to be too much security. I know that probably sounds weird and I do understand they dont want anyone to get hurt but it was kind of ridiculous. They wouldn't really let anyone dance or jump around but at least the music was great right? lol

It's difficult to be disappointed by a House of Blues show. The venue is easily accessible via public transit, the staff is kind and helpful, the sound is AMAZING, and there are screens everywhere so anywhere you stand is a front seat. Say Anything is a fantastic live band. They always play a range of songs from their catalog (I've even seen them play a cover of The Misfits' 'Skulls'). Max is always appreciative of his fans and respectful of those who come to his shows. You can't help but feel good after seeing Say Anything

The show was high energy, fun and incredible. The only complaint I have is that it was hard to hear Max Bemis' voice with the fans singing along so loud to all the songs, but I guess that is just a credit to the passion of the fans!

I only went to go see Saves the Day because they are are in my top 3 for favorite bands and I absolutely loved it. They ended up playing a few of my favorites from their older albums and I was psyched. I've been a big SA fan for quite a while now and I knew a few songs of MCS. I hadn't seen either of them live in a long time so I was so excited for the show. Not only that but I managed to score myself a photo pass for the night which made it even better. All the bands were really on point and the enthusiastic crowd made it even better. Could not have asked for anything more on this night. Kenny Vasoli from The Starting Line and Person L played bass for Say Anything. Chris Connelly from the opener Saves The Day came back out for a duet with Max on the Two Tongues track "Crawl" from the self-titled Two Tongues album. Also, Max, the singer of Say Anything, released a record of his own for exclusive purchase on this tour, ten songs, called "Max Bemis and the Painful Splits". Say Anything rocked harder than I've ever seen them. I can't believe they played the old track "Colorblind" from their first studio album Baseball.

Incredible concert. The Wonder Ballroom is a perfect-sized, intimate venue with space for everyone - moshers, onlookers, over 21-year-olds that like chillin' on the balcony with their drinks - great acoustics and great staff. Eisley and Say Anything are two excellent live acts, especially Say Anything. Max Bemis' stage presence was unmatchable. Plus, Eisley and Moneen were kind and grounded enough to meet and greet all of their fans! Highly suggest.

Say Anything is a consistently great band on stage and in studio. This performance was no exception. I was very excited to see Say Anything for the first (and now last) time. I suppose something can be said for the eight musicians on stage who were professional enough to provide a solid performance. However, when the lead singer is too wasted to stand up by himself or sing coherently and in time to the music it's not really a show it's just an embarrassment. What happened Friday night is disrespectful and alienating to the fans. And it's upsetting to see a musician you look up to in that condition. It was just painful. I stayed hoping they would send him offstage and let someone else sing as a final attempt to salvage the show. That didn't happen and I wish it had been cancelled. It was a waste of time and money.

The lead singer of Say Anything was completely wasted and put on a terrible show. He was falling, knocking over microphone stands, and was barely slurring out the lyrics. I bought the tickets for my husband as a gift and feel terrible that it was a waste of our time and money. I know we are not the only ones who were disappointed. We only made it through 4 songs before we left, and there was a group of people outside talking with staff about how to receive a refund.

Personally, $30 to watch a drunken mess (max from say anything) walk off stage, constantly fall, and spit all over the crowd wasn't worth the money. Modern Baseball was incredible, as always. But the uncomfortableness of watching a grown man babble on stage and cause issues for the other people on stage all doing so well was irritating.

I have been looking forward to this show for 5+ years and left extremely disappointed and uncomfortable after trying to stick it out past the third song. Max entered the stage while stumbling and slurring his words and remained extremely intoxicated for the rest of the time my husband and I were there (and after we left, until the show ended early according to online accounts). The rest of the band and string quartet were extremely graceful about the situation and played wonderfully while their frontman was hanging all over them, their instruments, and basically falling over the entire time. This is all not to mention that he fell off the stage twice.

Let me just say that Modern Baseball has got to be one of the best bands I've seen live...they were amazing! That being said, I don't know what happened before the show to prevent any sound checks from being done but having to listen to five to ten minutes of mic checks before each performance was aggravating to say the least... Some of the members for the opening act, Hard Girls, did not make it in time to start the show, so two of the guys from Modern Baseball helped out on drums and guitar to get the show going...very impressive!! Unfortunately, Say Anything took an hour to finally take the the stage(not an exaggeration!)..again, I have no idea what went down but it's rather crappy to stand there looking at the string quartet(who were obviously embarrassed for showing up on time)...Its a shame because they are so great live, I couldn't believe that half the crowd was gone after about twenty minutes of the set...but it had gotten rather late by then and I would be lying if I said I didn't think about doing the same thing... Bottom line, I love these bands and will give them the benefit of the doubt, everyone has bad days now and again... Wally

I love Say Anything's music, I wasn't sure what to expect live. It was sick. They played a good variety of songs, they sounded great instrumentals and vocals, and they had great stage presence. A lot of the audience seemed to know a lot of the lyrics, myself included, which just made the show that much better. Honestly usually my feet start hurting halfway into a show, but they got everyone to move around enough that it didn't matter. And I'm used to much heavier bands so that's the scale I'm comparing it against. Also most venues I've been to have rules about crowd surfing, The Fillmore apparently doesn't (or they weren't enforced) which is pretty awesome. Hopefully that lasts. Overall it was a great show.

Say Anything is my favorite band. This was my 8th time seeing them, and while I cant say it was my favorite show It was still amazing. If you're going to hit up this tour I suggest going to a small venue show. It's always more personal, and I think SA thrives in that setting more than anywhere else. No matter where you see them you can always count on a fantastic show though. Word for the wise, there are three openers on this tour so SA doesnt come on until 3 hours after the show starts. At the very least you should watch Tallhart. They're PHENOMENAL, check them out on Spotify and fall in love with them [I recommend Drunk Kids and Fever (Sister of Mine)] They'll hang around after the show so you can chat with them. Amazing talent, and all around really nice guys! ----I cant speak for the other two bands as much, but I would compare The Sidekicks to a high school garage band wanna-be version of Taking Back Sunday with a Washington State grunge look [Not bad, but nothing spectacular] and Murder by Death is harder to describe, The lead singer was graced with the voice of Johnny Cash, but takes it in an entirely different direction that I really cannot describe. Definitely interesting.

The show was great, but went on past the time the last Metro train left Silver Spring. Was caught deciding to take a $40 cab ride home or miss the encore.

It was a really awesome show. I've been meaning to watch say anything for awhile. They ate up the stage and got the place moving. The other bands varied in genre a bit so it made it enjoyable throughout.

This was my second time seeing Say Anything, and it was just an amazing show. The opening bands were pretty entertaining as well. Tallhart, the first band, was by far my favorite of the opening acts though. I'd recommend them to any Say Anything fan, they deserve to be heard! Max Bemis was perfect, as expected, and Say Anything played a perfect mix of songs. It was great show and I would love to see it again if I could!

This concert was an amazing experience. I finally got to see my favorite band live. Even though Max was sick he didn't let it slow him down. He had his wife Sherri come sing with him on stage and the energy was simply explosive. Best night ever. Well worth the sore feet and lost voice!

Say Anything is the most incredible band, and Starland Ballroom is my favorite venue of all time. Even though he was literally sick to his stomach the entire time, Max Bemis was unforgettably sexy!

Murder By Death was awesome! I was bored with Say Anything by the 3rd song. Crowd was really into them though.

Cheap parking($7) followed by decently priced beers($6 for a bud light which is pretty good compared to other venues I've visited) and an amazing show done by say anything. I wish that I could relive the night(and plan to when/if they're in town again).

Best show ever! Amazing set list, and they fit in a ton of songs. Met the entire band (except parker) after the show by their bus. Even Max, who was completely wiped out, took the time for photos and autographs. Sherri was awesome and beautiful as well!

Ive waited years to finally have a chance to see them, They are my favorite band but it just seemed they hardly toured near me and when they did I couldnt make it. The anticipation of this event was extremely high. Max and the gang were something very special. I dont know how they make mild sing-a-long music so exciting and so powerful. A few of my friends who were unfamiliar with Say Anything were also blown away by how amazing their show was even without knowing any of the words. It was one of those times that will stand out, among all the bands ive seen and shows ive been to, this carries a special significance. A once in a lifetime experience I will always remember.

I have never been to a concert where all the bands but on an awesome show and have awesome music. Most of the time it's only one or two bands that are good, but not this time. I was impressed by every single band there! Especially Say Anything and Murder by Death. When they come back, you can guarentee I'll be there!

They don't disappoint as usual, playing a long set here in Columbus Ohio accompanied by his wife Sherri every now and then. If you're thinking about going stop and just buy your ticket. You don't want to miss this!! :

The Front Bottoms have a way of making you want to cry and still want to keep listening and Say Anything will energize you and make you feel that punk rock attitude. Max really knows how to put on a show. They were great together.

The opening band were progressively better. Apparently the front bottoms are a big deal. I'd never heard of em but they put on a good show. By far though, say anything, even with the fill-in line up killed it. Dead.
