Primus

Primus Concert Schedule American Rock band Primus first came together in the mid-1980s, bringing fans a distinct style of Alternative Rock that wholly distinguishes them from their contemporaries. Primus' tour dates -- which include their 2017 Ambushing The Storm Tour, 2014 Primus & The Chocolate Factory Tour, and 2014 Spring Tour -- have taken the group across the globe. Their tour stops are mostly centered in the Americas but often include legs in Europe and Oceania as well. During their live shows, Primus delivers their trademark brand of rock, metal, and funk elements, laced with ridiculous lyrics sung by bassist Les Claypool (along with his legendary slap bass stylings).

Fun show. Awesome venue. Perfect weather with amazing an amazing NYC skyline behind us. Primus sounded fantastic. They opened with Pudding Time and closed with Tommy the Cat, both of which were great but I thought the set list could have been a little better overall.

I was actually there for Gogol Bordello but even though I was late for the concert and only caught 30 minutes of them, I still enjoyed it! I didn't know Primus but they did put up a good show. The crowd was so fun and interesting too. I'd definitely go to any one of them's concert in the future.

Being a fan of Primus since a kid, I never had the chance to see them, now they were plaing in my own backyard and I was EXCITED! The Williamsburg Waterfront venue is nothing short of AMAZING! Well appointed, well laid out and the best view. We showed up just as Gogol Bordello began their set. I was not too familiar with them but after seeing them jump around and pour 110% of themselves into their show, I will definitely be digging deeper into them. Amazing, giving, energetic and excited. The bounced around the stage for well over 1.5 hrs in the sun infecting everyone with bouncy smiles. Now it was time for the main event, PRIMUS! They took the stage, chatted briefly about the view and began their show. Every song they played drifted off into a self involved droning jam session. They would stop mid song and take painfully long breaks doing god knows what. Since it was a jam session more than a concert, each song lasted much to long causing them to miss playing a TON of their most loved songs. Then, they simply walked off stage, no goodbye, no thanks for coming out, not even a "you guys are the worst", it was like a happy hour at a bar where the bartender just wants to get the hell home. The usual Primus encore chant of "Primus sucks, Primus sucks" rang out and as the lights came on and the stage was being disassembled I could not help thinking that yes actually, Primus sucks or at least they did that night. Perhaps they are too old and jaded and in contrast with a younger, more energetic band, look selfish and rude.

I only stayed for Gogol Bordello...not interested in Primus...I wished that Gogol Bordello would of played one more song...but alas no luck. The waterfront was beautiful, spacious, great weather, along with the best energy that only Gogol Bordello can produce. Awesome concert!

This show absolutely rocked under the night skys of brooklyn. Set to a manhattan skyline backdrop, Les ripped that fretless bass to tommy the cat and jerry was a racecar driver. It was musically intense and choplicking good. They then brought about a funktified jam session that blew the view away. The willliamsburg water front is an excellent choice for a venue and if you're a Primus fan and didn't get to see this show...well then your name is mudd.

Les is getting old, which is making him into one of those old geniuses that can just stand there on the stage looking kind of bored, while his fingers fly across the strings. The songs choices were all routine (and all amazing), the stage was almost completely unadorned, the concert began without fanfare. Les just walked out, picked up his bass and started ripping. That's what the crowd wanted, you go to a Primus show for the music. The crowd was rowdy, but not overly so. I spent most of the show in a mighty struggle to keep my body off the ground and supplied with air, but it was worth it and for every hooligan there were three others trying to keep each other upright.

On the ticket it says "Primus/Gogol Bordello". These are two quite different bands with different audiences. Some people clearly came just for gogol, and others - just for PRimus. I was there for Gogol. So, since PRimus was mentioned on the ticket first, me and my friends assumed that Primus was opening for Gogol and came a little later. It turned out it was the other way around and we missed most of Gogol's performance. It seemed to be the case with many other people at the concert, who showed up later for Gogol, missed it and where very disappointed. There's also very difficult logistics with getting beer at that venue. You first stand in a line to get a bracelet, then you stand in a line to buy a ticket for beer, then you stand in a line to get the beer itself - almost like a scavenger hunt. There;s gotta be an easier way to do it!

Of course I say this with the utmost respect for the band who loves the chant by there long time fans such as myself. Tight as can be the trio once again showed nyc just what rock music should be. From there zanie yet propper attire the did not fall short to a fan who has seen them since the mid 90s. The venue was perfect and the atmosphere was just right. You could not ask for a better show.

Primus played an amazing set at the Sound Academy. If I had anything negative to say, it would be that the sound level was a little low. It was a packed house, and the band (who was tight as hell in all their Primus glory) just wasn't loud enough. Great show... sooooooo good.

Red Hat Amphitheater is a nice venue. $11 beers aside. Clutch jammed out, with a good mix of old and new, even debuting 2 new songs. Then the sun set, and Primus absolutely killed it. I have seen them maybe 6-8 times back when tickets were still $35 or less. And even saw just Claypool with Fearless Flying Frog Brigade. Primus played a lot of my favorites, My name is Mud, John the Fisherman, American Life, Mr. Kringle and Over the Falls....all amazing and completely badass. So glad I was able to go.

The venue was decent, weather was boiling hot. But the band was Schweeeeet! This was the last of the "Primus and the Chocolate Factory" tour. Though they have two more shows I don't believe those will be with the theme but will just be classic Primus. But I must say for this event, the venue was gorgeous, the sound quality was incredible, the fans were amazing, and Primus and The Fungi Ensemble new how to milk every pause beat and moment of that show to make it perfect. I've heard mixed reviews about Primus live but I must say after Saturday night's show I am converted. I will go and see them rock anytime anywhere. Criterion advertised "Music starts at 8pm", not "Mastodon will be well into their set by 8pm and by this time you will have missed All Them Witches." We walked through the front door right at 8pm expecting to see All Them Witches on stage. Mastodon was already playing and looked like they had been playing for a bit. Much to our disappointment, we were told the music actually started around 7pm. We paid to see All Them Witches play. My friend drove 120 miles after work, on a Tuesday night, to see this incredible band. The Good: Primus was amazing, great setlist, great show. The new album is outstanding and it made for one of the best Primus shows I've seen.

Concert started off with The Ghost of a Sabre Tooth Tiger - very good. Dinosaur Jr. came on next but was too loud to hear how good they were. Loud is good but too loud drowns out the music. Then Primus came on and the sound quality was great. Each instrument and the vocals were distinct and the perfect loudness - very loud but not too loud. The Primus trio are masters of their instruments. Les Claypool's bass playing was up to his usual standard of being much better than great. The guitar and drums could keep up with him and the group sounded totally amazing. They played sort of a rundown of Primus' greatest hits plus some new stuff. The background movie on the big screen fit the music perfectly. At times my feet got tired and I sat down and watched close ups of each member of the band on the 2 big screen monitors on each side of the stage - great video and a learning experience to see how the bass and electric guitar were being played. Only unpleasant moment was when a guy in the row ahead of me smoked a damn disgusting stinky cigarette.

Primus puts on one hell of a show. This was my fourth time seeing them \u2014 the first time was way back in 1989 or so. They just get better and better. Special kudos to the band for having a great lighting show and awesome visuals to go along with the rad music. Gotta point out two negatives though: 1) the opening band was CRAP. I d give them an F. If you have 12 members in your band and you ain t part of the Grand Ol Opry, something is amiss AT BEST. Cacophony of cheesy dated funk. Queue migraine!!! 2) $25 for parking?! Lamesauce.

First of all, not a bash on Primus. I m a big fan and am very glad I got to see them. What I am upset about is that as soon as I heard tickets were on sale, (probably within days, if not, the day of release.) I bought a VIP package ticket. Which included early entry (check) Q&A (not really) I never had a chance to ask a question. It seemed as if the questions were pre entered. I was never aware of that or given an opportunity. Meet and greet kind of seemed like the line to sit on Santa s lap, except instead of Santa, it s Les Claypool. I mean, it just feels strange. . . Also, there is a wine tasting for his cellars. His wine is actually really good. But unfortunately I couldn t buy any at the time? I guess it had something to to with a liquor license. Which I can understand. But I bought a couple beers while I was there.. I dunno. Rules... They don t sign anything. If you ask, you would be asked to leave. I brought two records with me to be signed only to have to make a trip to the car. Turns out not long after we are able to buy merch, (literally 5 minutes) they opened the doors to everyone. Just feels super rushed. I had a pretty nice seat, but found that a buddy of mine bought a seat the day of the show at venue box office and was only 3 Rows back from me. !!!??? So why did I spend near $300.00!!!????

An evening with Primus in support of the new album Desastrurating Seven. 1st set was the old school hits & couple oddball tracks which everyone loves, played for about 75/80mins. 2nd set was the new album, which is better live than studio, but just as weird either way (I m not a fan of the new album)....about 38mins long, then a 3 song encore that included fan favorites Wynonas Big Brown Beaver & Tommy the Cat. Primus opened for themselves with just a 3 piece band, barely any production, and mediocre sound, but they played some of their greatest hits right off the bat. Jerry Was a Race Car Driver and My Name is Mud to name a couple. Then, there was an intermission to get the full stage set up. After the intermission, the curtain went up to reveal a wildly colourful and wonderfully wonky set, amazing sound, and two more musicians. A well done trippy edit of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory played on a large screen in the center of the stage that went perfectly with each rendition of songs from the movie. The encore was the icing on the cake with songs like Too Many Puppies, South Bound Pachyderm, and Here They Come. The musicians were amazing, the sound was great, the production was spectacular, and the overall experience was epic. Well done guys. Now let's see if I can make a trip to Denver work to catch them at Red Rocks!!!

i took my kids (19&16) to see Primus, I'm pretty sure we were the only African Americans in the audience lol. I raised my kids listening to Primus (and RUSH and Tool ect) we love the bass and the drums. They were so hard and so funky we boogied and shook our tail feathers till we were exhausted. Les is mad, mad I tell you mad!

Primus & The Chocolate Factory was the most fabulous sensational show in the whole world! The quirkiness of the Majestic Theatre setting fit so well with The Chocolate Factory set. I was glad to hear old and new Primus sounds!

Honestly my two favorite bands. I've been waiting over 15 years for this event to happen, and it did not disappoint! Both bands were on top of their game and very into the show.

Les Claypool is one of the best bass players of all time and him and his band put on quite an amazing show! Now with the Willy Wonka theme the show has an awesome element to it! Do not miss Primus if they're in town, the show is well worth going to, even if you're just a Willy Wonka fan!

Clutch sounded amazing and has a new album coming out. New songs were as good as all the other clutch we have come to know and love. I love watching jean Paul play... Tim had his guitar screaming and dan mains was cool as ever on bass...Everyone killed it in Pittsburgh. Primus put on a hell of a show as always. Can't wait to see both when they tour with their new album is coming out

I have seen Les Claypool and Primus many times over his career. I have seen hundreds of concerts including the Dead, Phish, Radiohead, The Flaming Lips, and more. This concert, hands down was the best experience of my life. Primus rules!!!!!

Kick-ass show at a kick-ass venue! A nice, eclectic blend of explosive aggression and relaxed, experimental jamming. Gotta love the embracing spirit of Primus' fan base... Costume or not, everyone came to rock, and we, er-eh... diiid!

The Primus and Clutch show at the Festival Pier was great. Clutch was a great act. Primus delivered as always. Tim Alexander and Les Claypool together is awesome. Primus played until 10:45 and their set seemed a tad short especially compared to the night before and after. However the song selection was great and there was a little of everything.

Primus was in great form at the Stone Pony Summerstage. Les was very friendly and funny as he thumped his way through the show. Ler was great on his guitar and effects and Herb was a machine at his drum kit. They had a screen with bizarre images to complement their voyages through their musical journeys. Every song was great and the crowd was really into the show.

The most creative, bizarre, musically unique concert I have ever seen. I was in the front row, yay me! I am sore and sick from the mosh pit. I would do it all over again tonight if I could. AAA+++ incredible, tight performance.

The 3D show was amazing, totally synced up with everything. Les Claypool's bass playing was intense and Larry Ladonde's Guitar solos were sick! Est show I've ever been to hands down.

I have waited 20 years to see these guys, and it was an amazing show. Les never missed a beat, and what would you expect? Ler was in top form, and Jay did a great job with the drumming. I was expecting Herb, but I was not disappointed. The circus freaks from the oddity faire were awesome. I got to talk to them for a few minutes after the show, and they were really great people.

Just wanted to say thanks to all who made the show possible. I threatened to quit my job so I could go to this show and it was every bit as epic as I thought it would be. Can't wait to see them, again, soon!

Red Rocks is always awesome but last night was a really beautiful night. Gogol Bordello put on a spectacular performance but I think Primus was a little average--perfomance-wise. Though they did have those cool, giant astronauts. Primus has amazing guitar-playing and musicians but, to me, they're a band that's good to chill out with and do drugs, if you're into that. Unfortunately, I'm not so I didn't enjoy it as much as the people around me that were stoned. :o) I may be a little biased, though, because Gogol Bordello is one of my favorites and I would have enjoyed them being the headliner and playing longer. And they are so high energy, I have a lot of fun when they're on versus Primus, when I just kinda go to sleep.

Primus, as a whole, was an enjoyable band to see. A lot of intoxicated audience members, including myself and the group I came with, but that was to be expected. The sound at the Eagles Club was terrible, and there were times I couldn't make out the song or the words that Les was saying when he addressed his crowd. The acoustics of the concert hall could have been better, but I guess other than that, all that is left to complain about were the sweaty shirtless dudes everywhere. The set list was phenom, I really enjoyed myself and would see this concert again.

The venue was fantastic. The people were friendly. The opening band, The Dead Kenny G's, blew me away. Primus was unbelievable and sounded great!! The staff at the Ryman are top notch.

The NYC skyline was such an amazaing backdrop for the high energy, fun-packed, dance-your-ass-off Gogol Bordello/Primus concert! It was my second Gogol concert and I was so amazed and jazzed once again!

Primus are a must see! Amazing show and setlist. The williamsburg waterfront was an ok venue. Claypool puts on a show. His stage banther is funny. When Claypool was talking about the Manhattan skyline, someone threw a shirt on stage. Claypool replied with, "I don't want your dirty F*%*ing laundry." Great!

This is quite possibly the best concert I'll see in a long time. I never actually expected to see Primus live until seeing these tickets come up. It was all I hoped for and much much more. The Dead Kenny G's were an AMAZING opening act, and Gogol Bordello was insanely fun to dance (and watch people dance) to. Primus blew my mind, and it was far better than I could have dreamed. I was able to get close enough where I didn't need earplugs but could still see the band, and watching Les come out on stage was just the beginning. The set was perfect, and I felt that personal touch I've seen in various live videos when he commented on how beautiful the view from the harbor was.

The Williamsburg Waterfront is a cool large space for the concert, even though there was some pushing involved if you are close to the stage, but not as bad as I've experienced before. Dead Kenny G's opened the event and they just rocked! I have never heard them before but now planning to buy a few songs. Gogol Bordello was next and they were as amazing as always! Mostly played songs from the new album (which was nice) and of course some classics like Start Wearing Purple and Not a crime. Next went Primus, but because I don't really like them, I left. Overall I would definitely come back to The Williamsburg Waterfront for other concerts and if I could I would follow Gogol Bordello anywhere they go! :P

So let me just start off by saying that I came to this show to see Gogol Bordello. They put on one of the best live shows I've ever seen and this would be my 7th time seeing them. To start things off on a bad note, I got to the show a bit late. I didn't think that Gogol would be opening, but they did so I missed their first few songs. And even though I got there well into the performance, nobody seemed to care that they were on stage except for a small group of people in the front right who were moshing. It took a while to get to that part of the show, I guess i just wasn't pushing hard enough. But the main problem was that the crowd didn;t have the typical gogol energy that I am used to. Therefor, Gogol had no energy to grab and run with. They didn't do an Encore, which is a first in my book. Nobody cared about them except for me. However, they did play some of their good songs and what I was present for was amazing. I had a good time, but it was too short and made me really pissed. The culprit to this issue was the abundance of Primus fans. Don't get me wrong, I love Primus and I was so happy to have this chance to see them perform. However, their fans were all drugged out, which they had to be in order to enjoy the dragged out jams Primus put on. They played a few of their good songs, but for the most part, they jammed for the entire time and it was very low energy. Not what I was expecting. I ended up leaving right after they played an interesting version of Tommy the Cat, as well as the majority of the crowd. All in all, it was just an alright show. I learned my lesson to never go to a show where gogol bordello isn't the headliner. I need to be around people who appreciate them in order to have a good time i guess.
