I purchased tickets for Dirty Dancing as a gift for my mom's birthday. She was thrilled to get them and even more excited once we got there. The set was great! Very creative the way they created the different scenes. The actors were cast perfectly! The singing gave us goosebumps! The dancing was mind blowing! Overall, a must see! This "musical" is great, if you are a fan of the movie. It is exactly like the movie. No new songs were added, none of the lead roles sang, very mediocre for an upcoming Broadway show, if it even makes it to Broadway. I must say though, the scenery was fantastic, as well as the set. It is more like a play, rather than a musical. I would spend my money on another show.

I would have not seen it if my friend told me he wanted to see it. I only watched parts of Dirty Dancing whenever they played the movie on TV a long time ago and never saw the movie whole. So decided to surprise him for his bday with ticktets. It was better than i expected it to be. The singers were awesome and sound like the original. Very professionally done. I had good seats too...balcony center. I think center view is the best but all seats look ok to watch from since theater was packed. The pantages theatre has a nice old theater feeling. parking was 10$ across the street.

While 'Baby' was an almost exact Jennifer Grey clone, lead actor Johnnys obvious attempts to hide his Aussie accent was unnerving and detracted. I'd already seen GREASE and walked away thoroghly loving it. All of it. The way the music was preformed by the actors and actresses, the sets. I expected the same of Dirty Dancing. Something was missing in Dirty Dancing. Maybe it was Patrick Swayze.

Dirty Dancing was extremely well done. The staging was phenomenal the way the cast moved things around and changed sets so effortlessly. No one will replace Patrick Swayze, but the actor doing that part was good. The whole cast did a great job-! I would see it a second time. The only negative was our seats were in the back row of the Orchestra.

It was so entertaining, and just so much fun....the dancing, music, acting, singing, and everything about it. The audiences went wild! Had someone given me free tickets to see it more times, I would have gone every night, I loved it that much. It brought me so much happiness! Thank you so much for bringing this play to us, and for the wonderful performers, main stars, and every dancer, each was so precious. It was nice also meeting a few of them after the play. This was an A +++++ performance, and I applaud everyone involved from production to performance!

The production was a more 'adult' telling of the story than the movie. The choreography was well done and the comedic moments were spot on. However, the production suffers from one major flaw - the casting of the male lead. While he's easy on the eyes and an exceptional dancer, he struggled with masking his foreign accent and the result was a wooden quality that he never overcomes.

I was very excited to see the play but worried as to how they were going to make you feel outside, they did a great production and it couldn't have been better. I have seen several plays on broadway in nyc and this is right up at the top. I made the mistake of not buying the sound track and wish i had because i can't find it on line. The performers were wonderful from the dancing to the vocals Please if you get the chance and especially if you were a dirty dancing movie fan it is a must see

My wife and I had a lot of fun with the show. The biggest problem was the height of the person in front of me. Iam 6,2 and he still blocked my view. The biggest problem I had with the show was the projections on the screens the moved a little maybe the vents or the stage weights moved them I don't know. I have stigmatism so the slight movement of the backdrops really screwed me up. I liked the show and had good seats row m center. I plan on seeing Motown hope theres ne similar problem

The movie dialog & choreography were followed closely. All was excelently done. Loved the 2 singers performing songs from the movie soundtrack. Johnny was a little cold & distant in the first act but warmed up after intermission. Very enjoyable. Would see again.

I surprised my girlfriend/partner with tickets and we both enjoyed every bit of each line and song choice...I found myself singing out loud and tapping to each sound as they sung their story. I absolutely loved it! I would see it over and over again. I love theatre, and I actually took my cousin who is a teenager who hates theatre, and her best friend also a teenager who has never seen a play before. My cousin loves the movie so I was a little nervous about taking her, well she loved it! Every minute of it and her friend loved it too, they both sang the songs and after they just raved about it, it's been a couple of weeks now and they are still talking about it. The dancers and singers, actually every person on that stage, the setting was just great.

My wife is a huge fan of the moview, and I surprised her with tickets to this show. She was so grerful and loved the whole thing! I always thought the move was good, but it really adds something special to see such talented people really act it out live. Great sets, great sounds, and dancing, and "Penny" still has the longest legs I've ever seen. ;-) Only thing I wish they would have added is the song that that Patrick Swayze sang "She's like the wind", it does not get played or sung by anyone.

Dirty Dancing (the musical) is faithful to the film from where it is adapted. It struck a nostalgic note with me since I grew up with the movie & its music. But it is for that same reason that it felt like watching the same old thing; there is a kind of ho-hum feeling. Except for one thing: the sets. In keeping with the atmosphere of the movie, the set and production design took an innovative turn. I especially liked: * the lake scene where the stage is turned into a big body of water with nets & video of rippling waves; * the car scenes where the actors get inside an actual car and a film of a road taken from the rear is shown behind them; * when the stage turns into one big forest with a video of leaves & trees covering the entire stage; * and the many set changes where props would emerge from above & below, turning the stage setting from interior to exterior & vice versa in sweeping, seamless fashion. It was also exciting to experience the moves strutted & the music performed live onstage. It was like watching a Dancing with the Stars concert live. But kudos goes to the production and set design team that make the stage version of Dirty Dancing utterly breathtaking.

Dancing - 5 Voices - 4 Costumes - 4 Singing - 3 Acting - 2 Set - 2 This felt like a really good high school production. The dancing was great, some killer voices, but the singing was still off at times... The characters didn't have much chemistry, the acting wasn't the best, some of the most classic lines of the movie were butchered :( I would have been happy seeing this at a place like The Company Theatre in Norwell, but I expect a bit more from a touring group with those price points. Also, the $25 tote I bought already broke.

It was enjoyable to see the story and the dancing, but nothing can match the original, and certainly not the overdone production we saw. We disliked how much Baby's dancing was made to look bad, especially in the Sheldrake scene. There was no reason so make that into a farce. As a result we were deprived of a chance to the actress who played Baby really dance until the end. The male lead was far too dark and hard. Some of the extra scenes made no sense at all, though the MLK one was touching.

I felt that the show was uninteresting until the last approximately 15 minutes. There was minimal singing, especially in the first half, but the dancing was good. The actor who sang In the In the Still of The Night did a great job. Another female actor had a great voice. The very end of the show was exciting. I thought it was me, but my husband felt the same way. If you're looking for an exciting, attention grabbing show this isn't it. I kept thinking back to wishing I had just rented the movie again.

Any performance at the Landmark is enhanced by the sheer beauty and history of the Theater (even if it could use a major restoration). Dirty Dancing has been one of my favorite movies of all time due to the dancing and music. This performance did not hold up its end on the dancing part for me. Yes, there was dancing and all in all it was good, but not great. We left a bit under-whelmed and did not feel that the performance did the movie justice. Usually we leave finding that the Musical surpassed a movie, this was our first opposite. The scenery also was a bit lack luster. Maybe my expectations where a bit too high given that the movie is one of my all time favorites. All in all we enjoyed it, but where not wowed.

The show was very entertaining. They touched a little on almost every scene. We enjoyed the cast and their enthusiasm. The only complaint I have is they touched on a few things that were not in the original show such as the MLK- We the people speech. Why on earth was this speech incorporated in to this show? There were a few other scenes regarding race that was thrown in and I'm still not exactly sure why. Other than that, the show was awesome!

For someone who hasn't seen the movie it was pretty confusing. Scenes happened way to quickly. Some of them probably lasted for like 5 seconds and I'm not exaggerating! Although eventually things started to make more sense and after about like 20 minuets in I started understanding it all more and more. The acting was great! The show had these 2 singers and they were AMAZING!!! And who can forget the dancing!!! The dancing was spectacular! Baby and Johnny... Those actors 5 stars! Amazing! So all and all the show was good... But not great... I would deffenetly see it again though!!!

If you like the movie, this play is for you!! It is fun and the audience participates! It is a fun, must see, and enjoyable play. The special effects are wonderful!!

Opening night was amazing. I was completely enthralled. The performance was superb. The singers that they had were AMAZING. The actor playing the role of Johnny Casle did a great job and even sounded like Patrick Swayze. There were even some actors that came to see the show. :) Really really great. I might even go again. Definitely a must see!!!

I didn't know it was possible to come anywhere close to the perfection of the movie, but the cast nailed it! Their mannerisms, voices (sounded like them) and not missing a beat with the dance moves. This was my absolute favorite movie growing up & still is. I couldn't help but to bust out in tears at the end of the show at "the lift!" Powerful, spot on & would HIGHLY recommend to all of my friends/family! Job well done....BRAVO!

Though one can never truly recreate the amazingness of Dirty Dancing with Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, this show comes very close. The performers are wonderful dancers and fantastic singers and bring so much energy to the stage you feel like you are right there with them in the catskills. I would recommend this to any Dirty Dancing fan!!

For Dirty Dancing fans only! Fantastic show. Great music, dancing, singing, very true to the movie plot. Scenery was adequate to tell the story. Penny is about the sexiest woman on stage I have ever seen! I wish I'd had a closer seat. For true fans of the movie, it's almost like you're watching the filming of the movie; it's that close to the plot.

I bought my wife and I front row tickets to see this. We, once a year, visit mountain lake lodge for a vacation, but also get to be a small part of the history of this iconic movie. We both know most of the words and expect any and all remakes to match the original. Everyone has fell short up until we saw this performance. The cast was absolutely amazing and we were not disappointed at all. This was truely a great time and was awesome to see on stage. The cast and crew were top notch performers. From someone that had very high expectations, I would pay to see this show again. They NAILED IT!

At the ripe old age of 70 years, of course Dirty Dancing is my era . The acting, singing, and dancing was so superb that it drew you in to become a part of it all. Left the theatre with a very frivolous mood, light step, and feeling 17 again!!

This was a great show! It was so fun to watch live on stage! Performers did well and the dancing was good! I loved the added scenes that really boosted the story. the stage changes were clever and done smoothly!
