This was one of the best concerts I've been to, and I have been to a lot! Antony was amazing as well as the installation from MOMA. The laser show was incredible. Radio City Music Hall is beautiful, but the staff was quite unfriendly. I bought "VIP" tix and called several times to try to get info. No one could answer any questions.

This multimedia performance by Antony Hegarty and a 60 piece orchestra at Radio City was one of the best shows of the year! Haunting and beautiful! Antony is a real artist! Love the lazers, the images and the voice... "another world" was incredible!

Amazing lightshow and suspended mobile, BEAUTIFUL scenography. Performance was ambitious but fell short of expectations - and I am a great fan of Antony's. Saw him in London at a smaller venue a few years ago and was mesmerized. He should play smaller venues.

It really hard to get words together to explain this unique experience. I don't know if I'll ever see a performance like this again.

it was too pretentious and cold, antony called the event «insane», and was true. boring and falling asleep sometimes. the decor was ridicolous, the light design very vintage and the full orchestra totally useless. only the voice and the arrangements were very interesting.

Antony was mesmerizing as always, as were the orchestral arrangements. Absolutely stunning work by Carl Robertshaw.

Antony was the draw for me. His music, his voice and experience are unforgettable. I found the rest of the show too complicated - it was "art world meets real artist", so there is little wonder why a discord was felt. The art world didn't belong with him on that stage. He stands completely a world apart from the grandiose sculpture making (which looked cheap, I might add) or the "laser artistry". Admittedly, I know nothing about how the production of this show unfolded, but it appeared as if Antony was a victim of being placed in the ring with the other artists' overblown egos. I felt like I was being assaulted by these other mediocre forms of entertainment, merely to justify their place with him. All said, I would have been happiest without the sculpture and laser effects. I was, however, impressed with the venue. It was my first visit to Radio City Music Hall, and it was indeed spectacular.

I flew from Paris to New York to attend the concert which was a truly unforgettable experience. I was so impressed by Antony's voice and by his incredible and almost surnatural presence on stage. His unique voice, when combined with the lights, the orchestra and the decorum moved me so much that I cried out of emotion several times during his performance. In the end, I could not help but wonder: Could Antony be an angel?

I'd enjoy to see the interaction between the artist and the band. Watching antony alone on stage was a little 'naked' for me, though i got the intention. But this 'polished naive' stage appearence ended up with a spectecular reveal that made me wish the concert to last for another hour more.

I had not heard of Antony and The Johnsons before working with a bright, cultured coworker in my office. When he expressed enthusiasm and intimate delight at the announcement of the concert I could not stop my curiosity and bought tickets for myself and my partner. What an honor to have witnessed such a beautiful performer, song writer and artist. Antony is the epitome of elegance. Antony's voice reached me in the audience and resonates still within my heart. The Johnsons of NYC, as Antony had introduced the orchestra, were highly skilled and did not miss a beat during the soulful performance. The conductor could be seen by silhouette during the later half of the performance. His presence and body language tastefully embellished Antony's song. This show was not only for the ears, but for the eyes. The laser light show helped me capture a memory of one of the best Aurora Borealis shows I have yet to witness. Nothing before this show had ever come close to the beauty I witnessed that night in Alaska so many years ago. Listening to Antony and The Johnsons while watching the Aurora Borealis like light show on the ceiling of the Radio City Musical Hall is now one of my favored memories. I will recall this treasured event each time I listen to Antony and The Johnsons. I have beens touched and moved.

Wish I could give a half star. Antony was so amazing, the set was spectacular, and the orchestra - unforgettable. It was such a joyous evening. My only qualm was that te entire audience yearned for just one more song... The "finale" didn't seem very final. It seemed to end suddenly and people stayed in their seats clapping and calling for an encore, which we never received. And boy did we try. The audience was pretty obstinate about it - never saw anything like it before. So either a more smashing end or an answer to our encore woul have made this a 5 star for me. Otherwise I will say 4.5 star - even though it's only showing the 4. I know that selfish of me - but I'm a performer too and I think if the audience wants it, you owe it to them to satisfy. It's the biggest possible compliment you can get! Thanks though - truly beautiful experience. Love when art forms merge.

Whether the problem was over-reaching ambition or poor execution, the show looked a mess. The set looked to have cost about $1.50, and the lighting was perhaps the poorest I've ever seen in an event this size. At various times during the show I closed my eyes wanting to listen without having to look. But I kept remembering what I'd seen and couldn't concentrate on the sound alone. I saw Antony a few years ago at BAM when he performed with the Brooklyn Philharmonic minus the visuals. That concert was truly magical.

A retracing of old ground that has been covered in part and fully by more gifted artists from Greek plays to Bowie & Bjork. I was really hoping for something new. Disjointed presentation of work by a array of artists working their crafts without the structure of a unifying theme.

I love Antony's music for years, but never had a chance to see live because I'm living in Tokyo. This time it is so lucky for me to get a ticket when I visit NY. The concert was awesome; all the songs are so touchy. I'm impressed Antony's voice is much attractive than CD. It was dreaming time for me. My lifetime treasure night.

Antony has the voice of an angel. His amazing voice with the sounds of the orchestra transformed Radio City into Antony's personal temple. I can't find the words to describe the power, intensity that he bought into the Music Hall. The laser lighting and abstract set nicely complimented the music.

What a pity! What a great occasion wasted! Antony was and of course IS divine, however the packages behind him and the very cheap laser lights which tried to make a sense out of them were as out of place as possible. Not only they were in themselves pointless, but not for a second able to match the songs, the voice etc. Now I wonder who produced that "insane" setting has ever listened to, understood and perhaps loved one song of Antony? I hope there is someone ..... able to do a better work next time.

The concert was astonishing visually and musically rich. I am a big fan of Anthony's music so it was great to hear it at such venue. Upsetting was only that Anthony did not sing Hope there's someone which I'm sure many of us expected. Plus, the crowd was faithfully cheering after the concert hoping for Anthony to come back for a final song but it never happened. Wish Anthony loved his fans as much as they love him, but I guess it's not the case.

At least bathed in BEAUTIFUL laser light and stage design... this show had some of the most boring songs ever. Antony sung wonderfully, but the song selection was totalllllly borning... like watching paint dry. sorry, but true. i saw him once before in madrid, he was great... this show was way too pretentious and boring for me.

HorribeDisappointed
Horrible sound quality for the first three songs. Light effects reminiscent of Macintosh screen savers. Egos galore in set design, sophmoric lighting tricks...and the choice to hide the orchestra for almost the entire performance. Antony seemed frozen beneath his white designer gown...and the whole night spoke to grand ambitions but made almost no real contact with the audience.

At first, the tiny, almost invisible figure of Antony, seemed inaccesible as a distant star seen through cosmic dust clouds. Little by little we were teased with his emergence into the light. But by the time he was saying he was so very happy that he should be hurt (but would grow back like a starfish) the witholding and distancing brought what all good theatre does: catharsis. And the final part of the concert with the reveal of the orchestra, that extraordinary sculpture hanging in space and Antony in his Christ-like robes, surrounded by laser lights was the emotional climax that clearly had been the intention of the creators. The audience, from drag queens to upper East Side world weary matrons and people of all stripes between the two, all seemed to be touched and transformed by this cosmic explosion of an event.

I am a lover of big performance pieces with music but Antony and the johnsons was very disappointing. With the backing of MoMA perhaps I was expecting too much. Reminded me of an angst ridden teen with a buncha money and groupies. I tried to close my eyes to listen But the 70s laser light show using my first screen saver for inspiration kept seeping through my eyelids. Too bad Antony didn't choose to just sing in the center of the beautiful white light we finally got at the end.-- his lovely voice with the very rich orchestral arrangements didn't need all the hocus pocus

Radio City should reconsider using it's current sound engineers for their one night only productions. This concert was very unbalanced, and the vocalist was consistantly drowned out by the orchestra - who were all microphoned... At points in the concert, it was unbearably loud because the sound techs turned up the volume to keep the singer from being drowned out. There was also a constant hiss from the orchestra mics when there was supposed to be silence. Great performance, great visuals, poor sound.
