State Radio

Friday night's show was probably the best show I've been to; the venue was perfect, the band my favorite, and the opener, The London Souls, was fantastic. State Radio played a great show with all of my favorites including Fall of the American Empire, Gang of Theives, Doctor Ron, and The Waitress. They even inreoduced two new songs. By the end of the concert one of my friends had Chuck Fay's setlist, another friend had a drumstick from Mad Dog.

I had just seen JBT at Red Rocks, and State Radio had opened for them. So compared to that, this venue was not too great. I mean you cannot really compare any venue fairly with Red Rocks Amphitheater. And the flip flop of performers was just that. State Radio Rocked their hometown with all that they had! It was great to see and hear. The venue was lacking in great sound, and it was hard to see. But who needs to see really.

State Radio was pretty good. I had never heard of them before, and was pleased with their music and performance. My sole purpose for being there was Big D and the Kids Table, and as always, they did not disappoint. They are an amazing band with awesome live shows. They don't get enough notoriety for their work. Our travel time was 4 hours each way, and it was worth every mile.

This concert was so amazing! They sound just like there recorded music. Their concert was very relaxed and just overall one of the greatest concerts i've been to. also they had two encores so overall performed for over two hours.

I went with my boyfriend, who is a big metal fan, but I usually really like lighter stuff (reggae, ska). This show was a perfect mix for us!

Traveled 200 miles to see this concert,it was definitely worth it. The atmosphere at the El Rey was fantastic. We are long time fans of State Radio and appreciate how they engage the audience. It was a beautiful experience, one we'll remember for a while..

Being a fan of dispatch, I had high hopes of maybe catching the aftermath of a musical movement that I had just barely missed, and listening to State Radio's new album, I figured it to be an enjoyable show. I had heard some talk, and maybe from previous albums they may have been pegged as a "White boy reggae wanna be band" NOPE! They blew us away. Sure there was a litlle regae but the blend was phenaminal and the energy was something I haven't seen in a bar in seattle since the 90's, they're getting the kids out there (moshing!) today and sending them a positive messege while raging it up, simmering it down and then just exploding. Although I feel that Chad hasn't quite dispanded from his old college dispatch days of being snazyed up on the Tonight Show, I still have a huge respect for carrying on those roots and reinventing with the help of his mates. With Mad dog and Fay at his side, I'll think they'll continue to push through into some kind of new musical discovery. I was fabergasted by the energy of the crowd, and floored by the power of the band and proud of the political awareness, the fund raising , and the love they encourage. Not to mention all the money went to Haiiti, and they sold there CD's for whatever you could afford to buy them for. weather it be a buck or twenty, they got my buy....

Great playing, great music. The opening acts did a wonderful job is rallying up the atmosphere so that when the headliner went on they were able to perform to an audience ready to dance.

Probably one of the best live bands I have seen. I was 5 feet away from the lead singer (Chetro). Awesome! Opening band from Portland called 1776 was very talented too. They were very clean sounding. The members couldn't have been more than 20 years old. Aggrolites were ooookay. They put on a good show, but their music was very repetitive and boring to me. All in all a good concert.

If you are lucky enough to have an opportunity to see State Radio live, do not miss that chance. They bring so much talent and energy to the stage that you will find yourself exhausted, muscles sore, ears ringing, shorter a few brain cells, and confident that it's is worth it!

What a great venue had never been to the El Rey before. Small intimate cool general admission all ages. Came to see the Aggrolites got the super bonus of State Radio the headliner that we had never seen before and now are big fans.

The Aggrolites weren't much to listen to, but they weren't the headliners. State Radio put on a good show. They create a diverse sound for just three musicians. At the end of the set, Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine) joined them on stage for a song. The El Rey was a pretty good venue too. The only complaint was the price of the drinks, but I guess you can expect that at any concert.

Very entertaining show. The guys in the band are lots of fun!

What a great group of musicians!!!! Total high energy show. Not only totally talented, but great people personally. Who else would bring a fan on stage for a song????? What an awesome show

I went in knowing a few State Radio songs and came out a huge fan. Go see them live it is absolutely worth it. I still can't believe they played Time Served! The encore combo of that and Camilo made my day.

State Radio is a highly entertaining band. they have lyrics about things that matter and they're melodies and performances are always outstanding.

One of the best shows I've ever seen. State Radio has one of the most committed following of any band I've seen. Everyone knew the words, sang along, and moshed throughout the concert.

Incredible show... this event was towards the end of their tour, and they still put so much energy and excitment into the music! One thing i really enjoyed was that they jammed quite a bit during their songs -- it made it very interesting! I definatly plan on seeing them again the next chance i get!

Both State Radio and John Butler Trio put on incredible shows. But the collaborative encore (including G.Love) was something I will remember forever!

This was seriously the best concert I've ever seen. I was excited enough to see my two favorite bands on one stage, but they put so much into every song that you didn't feel like it was just another concert for them- much more personal.

It was beautiful evening at Bank of America Pavilion and The John Butler Trio didn't let us down.

both jbt and state radio were very good and the amount of attention they pay and bring to current issues was great.

two of the most inspiring bands on the road right now. High energy music, positive messages, outstanding musiciansship and dancability. State Radio has influenced my life greatly with their music and mission for peace. Im glad they have an ally in their mission in the John Butler Trio. This was a really special night.

We had gotten these tickets awhile ago and had never been to the Pavilion. It was a HOT evening but it was nice by the water!!! We have REALLY liked JBT and have followed them for awhile now. They were the 2nd act and they did not disappoint us!!! They sounded just GREAT!!! and they played songs from every album! I really loved April Uprising (their new album) and the songs they played from it was sooooo good! We enjoy watching them play and esp. John Butler playng his guitars UNBELIEVING!! We just are amazed how good he plays and listening to them LIVE sounded so GREAT!! It went by way too Fast!!! That was the only disappointment!!! Thank You JBT !! Please come around again SOON!

John Butler Trio were amazing, they should have headlined...wish their show had been longer. It would be nice if you served hard alcohol.

If you were lucky enough to go to the show, you were not disappointed. Both bands were awesome. John Butler playing Ocean live is something everybody should experience. Best I've heard so far. It was my first time seeing State Radio and they were so much better than I thought they would be. Heck we even got a surprise appearance of G. Love at the end. So cool. Can't wait to see him next month. So to sum it up, if you get a chance to see these guys don't hesitate to get your tickets.

this show was absolutely amazing. john butler trio and state radio play so well together and their personalities and music compliment one another. i loved that they brought g.love/garrett duffy of barefoot truth on stage for their encore as well. the entire show was fantastic and i never wanted it to end.

Great show- though I was confused about who headlined. John Butler Trio opened, but their name got top billing all over LiveNation site. Either way, both bands sounded awesome.

This show was just fantastic. This is the third time I've seen State Radio and I have never been disappointed. At the end, they did two encores. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Best concert i have ever been to! they really kept the audience going. State radio was a little dissapointing not as lively and good as jbt. DEF WORTH THE MONEY PLEASE GO SEE THERE AMAZING

They played great, the bands worked so well together good mix of ighschool, college and adults at the concert. smoking and drinking was happpening but not too bothersome adn being right on the waterfront was ideal. amazing!

After, unfortunately, arriving a tad bit late to see the opener Angus & Julia Stone, I enjoyed a great show! The sound was perfect and the artists were amazing.

Band was tight. Sound was crisp. Showed their experience of having been on tour.

I loved it! JBT is amazing, I just thought that they were the headliner- that was not clear from the tickets or ticketmaster website. so really, I wish the show was ALL them!! State Radio was good too, I just don't know them.

I think that JBT grabbed more interaction and attention from the crowd and should have been the band that ended it.

Great show! So much energy and good vibes! John Butler set them up and State Radio knocked it out! G love even showed up to close the show with a Bob Marley cover. It was a great night of this generations music.

State Radio's overall performance was phenomenal. Although there wasn't that many people present at the show, they still put on a great performance. Last night was the third time I had seen them. State Radio played for about an hour and 15 minutes, the most I had seen them play so far. At first, it seemed like they were only going to play songs from their newest album, "Let it Go", but about 45 minutes into the show, they started playing all older songs that made me become a fan in the first place. The acoustics and sound quality at House of Blues was great last night. It really is one of the premier places to see a concert in Dallas.

This was my third State Radio show and it was as amazing as the last two! I was a superfan of the band Dispatch which led me to State Radio, and I just love watching these guys perform. High energy and great sounds! Keep it up boys!

This concert was AWSOME. They played all the songs I wanted to hear and put on a great show at the same time. I cant wait until i can see them again!

Friend of mine got me into State Radio about 2 years ago. Saw them at Bonnarroo soon after but didn't really know them. Much cooler seeing them after knowing ther catalogue. Seeing them play People to People and Right Me Up should have been the highlights because their my two favorites, but meeting Chad after the show trumped the songs. My main bands are Van Halen, Metallica and Pearl Jam. They don't/can't just jump out randomly and talk to meet the fans; too many people/they'd get mobbed I guess. Chad and Mike came out after and took pictures, signed, just hung out. Totally cool.

State Radio did a FABULOUS job playing in Atlanta. I had just discovered them a week before their arrival so I wasn't really sure what to expect and i was BLOWN AWAY! First of all, the fact that i just heard them and they were good enough for me to want to drive all the way to see them was good points for them to start off with. But as if they were already incredible they somehow did BETTER than their recordings, which are insanely great in the first place. Such a stage presence and such diverse/unique songs! And they were hilarious :] Love them. I hope they come back soon!

They put on a good show! Did a rendition of Imagine by John Lennon and ended by falling into the drumset. A fun night.

The openers, black pistol fire, we're incredible. None of us knew them but they were playing good music and having a ton of fun. State radio is my favorite band so of course they were good. He responded to us yelling from the front row and was fun to listen to. Webster hall is a sick place to go to a concert

First, I didn't stay for State Radio, I came to see Black Pistol Fire. The band killed it, every song rocked, and they have incredible energy. Between the guitarist running/jumping around, and the drummer doing his Animal from the Muppets impersonation, I'm not sure if I can pick a favorite moment. The guys came out to floor after their part of the show and are great to talk to. Loved the band, loved the set, anytime they're in the Northeast I'll be there.

Best State Radio show I have ever! Got to meet Chad and took pictures with him. He was so nice and even sign some things for my friend who just found out he was a father on his birthday. Totally awesome night!

Two thumbs up to this show! As a huge Dispatch and Chad Stokes fan I was pretty psyched to see State Radio for the first time. I actually planned my entire east coast trip to Maine around this show. I brought an old metal head friend and he really enjoyed the show as well. I saw him fist pumpin and overheard some woo hoos. Hope to see them on the west coast soon!

State Radio was amazing! Their sound was much more like rock than on the albums. Chad's even better live than he is recorded :) even though there are only three of them, their sound is huge. I think that a big part of it is the drummer. He had a couple of solos, which were really, really good. I couldn't help but dance the whole time :)

I love the set up of the State Theatre. The sound is great and it is able to accommodate dancing, standing, sitting, etc. Wonderful! :) State Radio put on a great show.

crowd was into it, bad was into , non-stop rock with feeling and a purpose. one of a kind band in this day and age

Pretty good venue but no re-entry and no smoking area is a must change.

The show was awesome. First time seeing the band, and now a lifelong fan. The band was tight, production awesome, venue great, and the music incredible. I love that this band has a message and says it with some heart. I will definitely see another one of their concerts before long.

Best show I have ever been to and that is saying a lot!

The erratic ramblings of Princess Music opened the evening and created a kind of hypnotic dream scape which was blown away with the first chords of State Radio. State Radio took the stage and never gave it back. Rocking through the evening, giving way to reggae bouts, tossing in a mellow pause, and Blasting out of Denver, State Radio came to prove they were worth our time. They certainly are, and then some. Somewhere between the tent at Mile High to the Rigid structure of the Ogden, State Radio donned a kind of musicianship that is found in wide circles and rarely blesses small venues. The addition of a lead guitar added another dimension to an already excellent band. For all those about to Rock, yeah.

Although the opener was instrumentally talented, they lost the crowd... but any and all waiting was TIME WELL SERVED, as not only did State Radio rock it as expected, but a cameo by Braddigan and a little Dispatch teaser made the night beyond exceptional!!!

Another great show from an amazing band! State Radio never disapoints. Not only are the lyrics to their songs refreshinging and eye opening, but they can rock out like no other! This was my 4th time seeing them in the Denver area and I can never say no to them when they are playing near by. LOVE THEM!

This was the greatest show I have ever been to. I wish they could have played the whole night because I was sad when it was over. Awesome time!!! Absolutely love State Radio and I think the State Theatre was a good venue.

I've seen State Radio now eight times. Every time is fun and exciting. I've worked with the group through Chad's charity organization, Calling All Crows. They're a great group of exceptionally caring people. Plus they usually always greet their fans before and after the show. They're not intimidating, just regular guys. I think anyone can enjoy their music and the venue was great. So I would recommend State Radio anytime and anywhere.

Outstanding show. I witnessed three musicians with tremendous skills, and great showmanship. It sounded as if they had 6 guys on stage, they are all very strong independently but together they really know how to crank out the music. While I am not the typical demographic for a SR show, I can say it won't be the last time I see them play. Get back here soon!!

I have been to many State Radio shows and they have all been amazing. I brought friends that never seen or heard there music to this event and they loved it. So much positive energy fills the room when this band is on stage.

State Radio delivers a great show and this night was no exception. Positve, upbeat with interesting and compelling lyrics performed by fabulously talented musicians. I would see them any time and look forward to Chad Stokes in Burlington on December 5. Unfortunately in Portland the mix was off and the sound was not what it should have been, vocals & instruments were not as clear and distinct as I would like. For a newly renovated venue, the sound should have been perfect; what a disappointment.

I have seen state radio atleast 5-6 times and this show was my favorite, i saw them this summer with jbt and this was even better!

This was my 5th State Radio show, and by far the best set list they ever played. There was a great mix of old songs (Time Served) and new ones as well (Songs from Let It Go album). Overall, unbelievable.

Short and sweet: The London Souls and State Radio played great sets. Terminal 5 is a pretty good spot, but I'd like to be able to have greater access with simply a general admissions ticket, but I guess thats what the peasants get when they pay minimum price. Only real problem was the moshing. I don't want to sound too much like a chauvinist, but when the main act has a huge banner as a backdrop for the whole show reading "Wage Peace," not to mention being one of the hottest conscious/socially active music groups in the country, violence in any form seems out of place. Sure, people want to do what they want, and seeing as they paid a decent amount of money, they should have freedom to do so. But when the other paying audience members are trying to vibe with everyone in the hall, it doesn't really make for a good atmosphere when they are on edge and watching the people around them for a majority of the songs. It doesn't seem to me that's what State Radio is all about.

Terrible concert by lousy band of "musicians" afraid to turn down their distortion knob for fear crowd of inebriated 17 year-olds will realize they can't play.

The atmosphere of the concert was unbelievable, but the set list of the show was ok. They played too much of their new album and not enough of their older music. When Chad tied the thong on Mad Dogs face it really showed how cool and chill the band is. This was my fourth State Radio Concert and it will certainly not be my last!

SO CLUTCH. These guys put on an awesome show! The best concert I've been to in a while.

State radio was great as I expected, but the London souls absolutely blew me away! They were far more than I expected and I need to find more of their music, because they really blew the doors off. I would see a show that they headlined any day! Terminal 5 was a great venue as well and I'd love to see more shows there. Overall it was a great night that far exceeded my expectations.
