I have seen Greater Tuna many, many times. This is probably, actually no doubt about it, the worst I have seen. Saenger Theater is a horrible venue for this. This is a play that depends on close proximity to the audience. The whole thing was swallowed up by the Saenger. The sound was totally echoey and there were too many people in incomprehensible roles. This was supposed to be a very funny play where two characters played all the roles. Instead there were a variety of untalented wiggly people NOT MAKING MUCH SENSE. The best laugh portions were either completely left out, or were so mangled that they failed to come through. I may never see Greater Tuna again...too bad for me, since it is potentially one of the funniest plays ever.

Why add the additional characters? They lend nothing to the play. Joe Sears replacement did a wonderful performance. However, Jaston's replacement was severely lacking. Not the same zip in DiDi. And why change his other character??? Certainly did ruin good memories of the original.

Even though the original actors have hung up their Brassieres, their replacements brought out some new personality traits in the characters. I especially like Vera Carp! If you've never seen it, you must!

I come from a small town with a radio station in the 70's. What folks might not realize is this is exactly how life was just different names. It was great rendition of rural Texas.

I was very disappointed that the original actors retired the night before. While the new actors did a very fine job, I could not help comparing some of the mannerisms and voices that were so different from the originals. I attended with a friend who was seeing the play for the first time. She loved it and thought it was hilarious. I guess it is a lot like reading a book and then seeing the movie. I am sometimes tempted to pay more attention to the comparison of the book to the movie than to the value of the movie only. That being said, it was still loads of fun.

I understand that this is the first Casa production of Tuna without the original cast. Sad to see the the originals retireing but we all have to do it sometime. The new cast did a great job and we wouldn't mind seeing them again sometime. Don't include the following in the review.... Didn't want to say it in the review, but I thank the murderer should have been hauled off to jail, not made lite of. Seat 4 tore my husbands pants due to a sharp point near a screw on the right side of the seat. We reported it and were told that it would be fixed. Other wise the seats were great, close to the stage on the right side about 4 rows back from stage. The view was great as was the sound. If someone were considering buying these seats they should know that the actors tend to use the whole stage and anyone setting here would have just a good of view as most anyone in the audiance

I went with such high expectations, based on everything people had told me about the other shows. the bottom line was it really didn't please any of the 4 people in our group. it was very lacking in humor

I believe the performance would have been excellent if the sound system had been much better.

We've been fans of the show since it first came to CASA! Although we will miss the original cast (like a front tooth!), the new casts are great and will, with time be the same legendary portayals. I can't wait for the new TUNA Christmas!

Our seats were great. it's unbelievable that two guys can play so many parts and move from one to the next keeping in character. There could have been a bit more emphasis on the set. A casket or other minor pieces would have improved the ambiance. My wife and I know so many of the characters, it's scary. WELL DONE!

The play made everyone in Texas out to be bigots. My husband and I were offended and left at the first intermission. I wouldn't recommend this play to anyone, not even an enemy.

We have seen Greater Tuna many times. We really also enjoyed this new production but don't feel it was necessary to include the racial comments or cursing. There were young children in the audience and I am not aware of a notice that it was for adults only. We loved the new characters and new scripts.

We have always enjoyed Tuna. I do prefer the Casa venue over Bass Hall. Jaston Williams and Joe Sears have fine tuned this classic to Southern comfort food for the soul.

I have great admiration for these two people who can change into a whole new personality so quickly ! Just great to sit there and anticipate the next character who will come on stage. This was my third time to go to Tuna, Tx. and I loved every minute of it!!

Greater Tuna has great acting however, I was surprised by the racial comments and at times felt almost embarrassed to be in the audience.

Enjoyed this play and a Tuna Christmas some 20 - 25 years ago - laughed so hard at times - brought tears to my eyes. These guys just don't compare to Sears and company. I was especially put off by the derogatory reference to the Viet Nam vets ' who were exposed to Agent Orange...died...but didn't look orange at all...ha - ha - ha'... In reality, the effect of this exposure is believed to have caused liver disease, kidney failure, diabetes and other painful and inconvenient conditions for many. I thought this reference unnecessary, of extremely poor taste, and - frankly - low class. My wife and I left the theater at this point.

We were a little concerned about it not being a play with performances by the original 2 cast members. No need for any concern, these guys have the characters down on every laughing moment and are great! The sound was very good and easy to hear them from all over the theater. No disappointment here at all. It was a wonderful play and we look forward to seeing them in future Tuna plays.

I did not like the main character at all and tried not to compare with the original cast. I was shocked at the racial innuendos since it had been awhile from the last performance I attended. I hated the running over of the bird dog. Not funny.

this was my 5th time to see greater tuna and was so excited to take my two sisters and neice to see it. they had never experienced any of the tuna plays and were as equally excited because i had told them how funny it was even after having seen it before. although still very funny i must admit i was dissappointed in the new scenes. the subject matter was rather dark talking about running over a dog to cover up an "accidental" poisening and murdering someone by putting air into his iv. im usually not easly offended and had this been my first time in seeing greater tuna, i may have felt differently but i really miss the original. im sad to say but that will be the last time i see greater tuna:(

Anyone in Texas should appreciate this humor. It is so small town. That is what makes us special. Person(s) can identify a local person with some or all of the traits in each character in these "Tuna" plays. If you cannot see this simple humor you are blind or deaf.

The material is still funny after all these years. Jonathan Beck Reed played his parts splendidly and reminded me of the original duo. Unfortunately, David Coffee played his female characters like a man in drag. He didn't even alter his voice for the amazing female characters he had to play. The magic of the original was lost on him.

Greater Tuna is a fictional Texas town and 2 terrific actors play all of the characters. My family and I were impressed with the incredible talent it took to bring to life all of the characters as if they were real individuals. What was amazing was how many times we said that character reminds me of so-and-so. They completely understood Texas! I highly recommend this play to anyone who want to enjoy a fun evening your friends, family, and significant other can enjoy.

We attended Saturday night and really enjoyed the play and facility. We thought that the acting was great and the play was funny! This was the first time to see it at Casa Manana, and there is not a bad seat in the house. When are you going to do Tuna Christmas? I am ready to buy tickets.
