The Jake Bugg-Birmingham show was awesome, from the opener to the headlining, solo-act, Jake Bugg. Charming, witty, and talented, Bugg s solo act is a must-see for any music fan!!!

Have been listening to Jake Bugg for over a year now and when I saw he was going to be doing a show in Toronto I couldn't miss it. My already high expectation were surpassed he sounded better live the he does on record would recommend going to see him if you have the chance!

I was so excited when I found out Jake was playing a show in the states. I discovered his music a little more than a year ago and fell in love. Saw Jake in January for the first time at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco. He put on a great show. He sounds the same - if not better, than on the album. For those who say he's just a Bob Dylan impersonator, I'll have to disagree. Bugg has his own sound and is bringing hope to modern music with his songwriting and unique voice. The kid is only 19 and has more talent than one would expect. His songs are melodic, catchy, and each one differs from the other. The entire crowd was buzzing and totally absorbed by his performance as well. I would strongly recommend going to one of his shows.

Got a ticket to see what all the fuss was about. What I witnessed was a glorified busker with a bland backing band. Hands down most boring "professional" act I've ever seen. Avoid like the plague. Every song was forgettable 3-chord rubbish, with no distinguishing characteristics at all. With all the press shots of Bugg smoking cigarettes and generally looking hardcore, I was not expecting him to sound like pathetic Bob Dylan impersonator, with cringeworthy lyrics and zero musical imagination. However, that is how I would best sum up what I witnessed.

I've been listening to Jake for a while, and I knew there was a lot of hype. I love his album but thought people were exaggerating about him being soooooo amazing. Well this proved to me they weren't. His album is good, but this kid's AMAZING live. It's like nothing I've ever seen. No gimmicks. Just pure talent. He barely says a thing but the music speaks for itself. He plays guitar like nobody else. I was moving and grooving and just enjoying it. I don't just recommend going to see him, I'm begging you to! You won't regret it!

The show was just ehh. Very disappointed for someone who headlined Glastonbury. I knew I was in for trouble when he started the set with 5 straight solo acoustic songs. He was extremely low energy and just went through the motions. No encore or engagement with the fans.

I didn't think I could enjoy a concert more than I did when I saw Jake for the first time at the Wiltern back in 2014. I enjoyed every song, sang along with every song, and just had one of the best concert experiences of my life. This show was no different, just even better. The songs he did from the first two albums sounded just as fresh and new as the songs from new album did. I loved how a lot of the songs really didn't stop, they just went right into another song. I loved that he did the song Saffron, a song that I had only heard online. I am in my 50's and I don't like a lot of the new music that comes out these days. But Jake's music is a clear exception. It is new and fresh but reminds you of music from the past. I can't wait to see what he does on his next album and tour.

I have seen Jake quite a few times now, for one, he needs to introduce his band and an encore would be nice. As an artist he is expanding his music by adding a keyboard player and taking his music in different directions with the release of his upcoming 3rd album. I would have loved to have heard "Broken" and/or "Simple as This" in the set. He played for 70 minutes, he speaks a little bit more to the audience than he once did, but you would never confuse him for Bono. He is still worth checking out.

Jake Bugg is just so calm and the voice is so raw and beautiful. Certain songs everybody in the audience was quiet for. I've been to over 20 concerts including Lana del Rey and Beyoncé and this was by far the best I've ever seen. What a voice.

I've known about Jake Bugg for like 2 years now. and have been dying to see him, but never got the chance. When I saw that he was going to be in Richmond I had to go!! I was surprised that they still had tickets a week before the show. When I got into the venue, I was too excited. The Silver Palms were good, but Jake Bugg was amazing. The best part was that I got to be fairly close to the stage.

That was one of the best concerts I have ever been to, if not the very best. Jake Bugg was definitely amazing. We enjoyed being able to watch someone that is so talented in a small and beautiful venue. The opening band The Silver Palms were an excellent compliment to Jake Buggs style and seemed to really enjoy the crowd. I would love to see them preform every day!!!! Great show!

Jake Bugg is an amazing young talent who combines country and folk roots influences with a dash of 70's brit punk and new wave thrown into the mix . He's an old soul with a unique vocal style and writes songs with incredible insight and passion. His live performance was spot on and he's a great guitarist to boot. He almost seems too good to be only 20 years old. Teen girls looking for another One Dimension, er Direction, were likely the only ones disappointed at this all ages show.

Enjoyed every minute of Jake Bugg's show. His unique voice, strong guitar playing, and passionate lyrics drove the show. It was nice to see a show where every song was awesome. He even threw in a Neil Young song that got the crowd going. If you can, see him! Also, I kind of liked that Bugg plays straight through and doesn't take a bunch of breaks.

I had never been to Variety Playhouse before, and it was a little hard to find. Parking was ok. The facility itself was old and a little run down, but the drink and food prices were reasonable by comparison to other venues. Seating was decent. Sound was excellent. Silver Palms did a nice job opening. Jake Bugg was insanely good! He played about an hour and a half, and was outstanding. He has a commanding presence even at such at young age. His sounds was cd quality, although he varied the speed and style of some of his songs. He is a brilliant up and coming star. If you get a chance to see him, don't pass it up.

If you are familiar with Jake Bugg's work, you will know that he is extremely talented and writes amazing songs at such a very young age. All of that talent was definitely on display during his concert in Atlanta at the Variety Playhouse. One word of warning: don't expect him to interact pretty much at all with the audience. He did not say too much during the concert and really just focused on playing. Just keep that in mind so you aren't disappointed if that is what you're expecting! Regardless of that he played an incredible show and his voice sounded just as good, or maybe even better, than it sounds on his records.

Jake Bugg is a throw back to classic rock & roll. His music is stripped down, bare bones & bad ass. If someone told me that Bugg was actually a contemporary if Dylan, Donovan, Cash & Young, I'd have believed it. I wasn't planning on going, but after my Atlanta concert I'm now heading to Asheville to see him again.

Amazing show! This guy is incredible, such a talented singer/songwriter/musician. Catch a show while he is still playing smaller venues, won't be this way for much longer. What is so cool as well is the kinds of people there, across the board, young to old, didn't matter. 10/10 for this guy - simply terrific!

I was pleasantly surprised by the very young and talented opening acts. They did great. Had never heard of either one but enjoyed all their music instantly. Jake Bugg was just wonderful. I hadn't heard his music much and was worried about whether I'd enjoy it but the entire set list was great and I'm a new fan in the biggest way now. The Ryman isn't too big so no one is really far from the stage.

I bought tickets for me teen daughters for Christmas and while i had listened to Jake Bugg's first album, I was not really "into" him. I came with an open mind, thinking my daughter's would at least enjoy the show. The Ryman is always special and this was no exception. He was absolutely amazing. such unique voice that is strong and haunting sometimes. His guitar playing was very surprising, since he is so young. His sets were very tight, and while he did not really speak a lot, he did not need to. Great show. See him if and when you can. Our seats were great, but the people who had to keep being reminded to sit down in the center aisle first row pew were very distracting. You know who you are, and you are terrible dancers ala' Elaine from Seinfeld.

When you get a three band billing, it is sometimes offsetting to the main act. Not tonight. The Skins got things moving, swaying and shaking with some good original tunes that made you smile and move. The Weeks came out next and really blew the room away. They had some strong support that traveled from Jackson MS to see them play the Ryman and they turned up the energy nicely. Great tunes and a band I expect to hear more from. Jake Bugg. Well, I've liked him since I first heard him about 2 years ago and my then 12 year old - now 14 year old son loves his songs and style! Really nice to have a few artists we both like (and Jake leads the way!) We've both been wanting to see him live and this was the right place/time for it to occur. Jake's energy on stage is solid, he has showman charisma and his songs, although true to studio form in some ways, get that jolt of energy and improv you hope for in a live show. His renditions of Trouble Town, Taste It, Slumville Sunrise all were awesome. His acoustic solo version of Broken is still haunting me to the core - it was spellbindingly beautiful and sad, all at once. As my son said "he ruined any other version of this for me..." One other nice surprise was covering Neil Young's "Hey Hey My My" - which he rocked out as part of a 3 song encore.

Jake Bugg is 19 year old who has already released two albums and has a lot of great songs to play. All of the songs he played were good. The highlights for me were: Seen it all, Two Fingers, What doesn't Kill You, Hey Hey My My(Neil Young cover), and best of all Broken. The crowd was really into his music and the opening acts The Weeks and the Skins also did a good job. I hope to see him again on his next tour!

I heard about Jake after his second album was produced by Rick Rubin. I knew I had to check him out because Rick doesn't waste his time. I wasn't disappointed.....Jake was great live, and I was thoroughly impressed. He can pull off power punk, and then hit you with an acoustic power ballad that has the entire room singing. I still find myself waking up singing his songs......

What more can you ask for then seeing a show at the Ryman? How about seeing a truly talented artist. Although Jake Bugg's stage presence needs a little work, his sound doesn't, which is incredible given his youth. The few times Jake Bugg addressed the audience, or broke into a rare smile, the audience responded with enthusiasm. Hopefully as he matures and tours more, he will become more comfortable on stage. The upside is the entire show is jammed packed with well written, beautifully performed songs. I am thrilled to have had an opportunity to see this young artist (for the third time) live at the beginning of his career. I hope whatever it is that is inside of him that inspires his songwriting stays there for a long time.

Probably the first time ever that I grew irritated with members of the audience at the Ryman. Most audiences there are very respectable of the artist- they know to applaud (and/or hoot or whistle) at the appropriate time. Unfortuately, at this show, some folks just randomly yelled out and whistled. The Ryman is the absolute best place to see and hear an artist- don't wreck it for others that came for exactly that reason. Despite that, Jake was awesome- anxious to see where he goes from here.

Jake Bugg came out and opened with some beautifully crafted acoustic songs with his minimalist bandmates on drums and bass. He has a unique, clear voice that sounded even better live than on his two studio releases. Four or five songs in, he switched to electric and rocked onwards for another three or four songs, then back to acoustic. I loved his encore where he paid homage to Neil Young with a cover of "Hey, hey, my, my" and finally ended with his hit "Lightning Bolt". The venue, House of Blues Dallas, was nice as always. My main complaint was that it was freezing outside and I called ahead to see if they had coat check. They told me "no" but when we arrived they had coat check in the bathrooms. Communication guys...that's the key to success. A second complaint was that some of the audience wouldn't shut their pie holes when Jake was singing his quiet songs. Go out to the lobby to run your mouths please, while the band plays.

I heard Albert's band went to the show earlier and talked to some Jake Bugg fans... Most of them didn't know who they were... Shows how their is a generation gap between fans of Jake and Albert. It is also a different crowd of course. Some wanted to see the guitarist from the Strokes, and the kids wanted to see Bugg... Albert Hammond Jr. did it again, he rocked out to some of the best he's got. He played all his new stuff, Cooker Ship, Rude Costumer, etc, but also jammed out with the classics such as Gfc, 101, Scared, and ended it with a cover by the Misfits... Now these guys Jammed out however the crowd wasn't prepared for Albert. Little Jake, however, made all the little blond girls scream as if a boy band (N-Sync or Beatles) walked into the room ready to give out hugs and kisses... I was impressed with this kid, he played "Messed up kids," "Slumville Sunrise" and "What doesn't Kill you" which complemented the sounds after Albert... Jake you did good... The Skins... You guys need more guitar battles.... You guys played a good set of very original sounds... A hip hop voice with the moves of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez from Mars Volta... The guitarist are bipolar opposites in looks and demonstrated that women can rock as hard as any man.... bass and drums, you two gave the hip hop beat to a rock jam and made it all come together... All in all... Albert > Jake in the 2000's.... Albert < Jake in the 2010's Skins i hope to see you guys headline on your own in the future...

Jake Bugg is a consummate performer with a true shining talent vocally, lyrically and instrumentally. His huge talent somewhat belies the semi shy, self effacing young man who takes to the stage and seems surprised by the audience's unified response of crazy admiration and Buggafilia. Jake has a beautiful voice which shines in his music. He doesn't interact much with the audience but is focused on providing a great show for the audience. He does seem to stress a bit when things aren't working properly (guitars) -- not sure if he's entirely comfortable on stage. Now Jake Bugg, WAOOOOO!! He starts the show solo, just him and his guitar. It feels so intimate and his voice cuts through. He is one of the few artist I have seen that sounds just like the albums but then again even better. He doesn't talk to much (which he stated he had been criticized for) but it does not take away from his performance. He plays songs from his new and first album, which I appreciated. Jake Bugg played a 90 minute set of 22 songs from from his 3 albums. Nine of the songs were from his new album which I had not heard before Tuesday nights show at Terminal 5. Jake had two opening acts The Skins and The Weeks, both very different from one another, but awesome nonetheless. When he finally took the stage he just started belting out one song after another which is incredible really to play nonstop for over an hour and a half. I wish he would have had more audience interaction, but I think he is still growimg into his stage persona. This kid is going to go far and I would definitely see him again.

I loved the Jake Bugg performance! He sounded just like his CD. The two opening acts were okay. Not really my kind of music.

I have been to hundreds of concerts in my life, but when Jake Bugg did a short acoustic set, it was one of the most magical moments I can remember. Bare talent. Just amazing for a kid so young. His songs range from Dylan to James Taylor-esc in their purity. Highly recommend anyone of any age seeing him in live.

Jake Bugg was brilliant. It's very unusual to see an artist live and think their voice sounded even better in person but Jake Bugg has an amazing voice.

Skins were too loud or was it because we were sitting in the sound system. Not impressed by the Skins. Lead singer has got a thing for her own hair -she's into it. Albert Hammond - good I guess. Better than the Skins. As for Jake Bugg, the next time I want to go see him the tickets will cost much more. He is good and I have seen some good ones.

Jake played non stop and sounded as good as ever! I brought a friend who had only heard a few of Jake's songs....needless to say, Jake has another fan! Thanks for coming to Houston! Can't wait to hear you again!

Great concert! Although the first band was noisy and somewhat annoying, Albert Hammond Jr. was fantastic and the perfect opener for Mr. Bugg. Both artists surprised with their range and versatility. What talented guys. Jake really was great. Simple stage sets, great lighting, honest song writing and beautiful delivery.

The sound for Albert Hammond Jr was so bad it was like torture. I was ready to leave. So glad I didn't. Jake Bugg gave one of the best performances I've ever seen and the sound was flawless. Thanks Jake!!!!

No showmanship is necessary when you have raw talent. He doesn't need to sell himself, he just opens his mouth and sings. Eyes open or closed, the magic seeps in. Flawless performance! I'm hooked.

I learned about Jake Bugg almost 2 years ago. I thought at the time "this kid has something going on..." he did not disappoint! My first visit to the Fox, I was a bit nervous about the acoustics. The opening act (The Skins) was GAWD AWFUL! We sat through one and one half numbers and went to the bar. I worried that if the sound was that bad for Jake Bugg, we were in trouble. Things improved somewhat with Albert Hammond Jr. A bit tighter, musically and the sound tech had some self-restraint. It helped that they actually did a couple of numbers that I knew. But...this is about Jake. I have to say this is the first time in more years than I will admit to where the live performance was better than anything I had heard before...including other live performances. He is maturing as a vocalist and, with the coaching of Rick Rubin, is learning when to give his all or hold back for the emotional impact. He played numbers equally from his first album and from Shangri-la and even managed to squeeze in a great cover of Neil Young's "Hey Hey, My My". I was equally fascinated by the drummer (I believe was Pete Thomas) who was absolutely devoid of drama and excessive movement and yet pounded the heck out of the kit. All in all, a fantastic performance and I feel very fortunate to have seen it., Even if we did sit in the "old people" section.

Really like Jake Bugg's studio album, friend probably over hyped seeing him live. I found him reserved and distant, songs were well played but walked away with less sense of JB that I had walking into the Fox

I saw Jake Bugg in Denver this past Fall after reading articles about him. He has been a recent buzz artist from the UK. Comparisons made to Bob Dylan. In Denver, I was underwhelmed. He's talented and reasonably likable and an easy listen on a night you have nothing else to do. I knew he had some new music so I thought I'd catch him again now that he was playing locally. He is a decent songwriter / musician but is not an exciting performer. Nonetheless he ran through a collection of songs one right after the other with few words in between. Definitely enjoyable songs and a nice evening out, but can't rave about his show.

Jake's peformance on Friday night at The Wiltern was simply amazing. I first heard about him last year when he performed "Lightning Bolt" on the David Letterman show. I liked it right away and ordered the cd online. He became a fan right away, listening to the cd non stop in my car. I did the same thing with his 2nd cd. His sound is so unique, unlike any other young performer his age. His sound reminds me of music from the 60's and 70's. His performance at the Wiltern was perfect. The way he walked around the stage to the way he sang every song perfectly like it is on the cd was very impressive. Everyone in that room was in to it. I would definately see him perform again. I would also recommend that everyone go see him perform.

This was a great show. Jake was brilliant on stage. It was my first time at the fox theater and I thought the venue was pretty. It was my second time seeing Jake Bugg live, and I would definitely see Jake Bugg again. I also liked the opening act of The Skins.

The New York Times said Jake Bugg is the next Bob Dillon: nonsense. He is an individual with a unique voice and a heck of a guitar player.

The concerts was great. Jake Bugg has an awesome voice with a great range and use from belting it out to soft emotion. He plays great guitar with seemingly no effort. The most outstanding talent though is his song writing - amazing for one so young. Listening on the floor at the Fox was great. I don't know if we'll be lucky enough to see him again at as intimate a venue. If he comes back to town soon, you must go! Oh, and his band was great too. A lot of music for a 3-piece. Drummer was hot and bass player carried a lot.

Jake Bugg is proving himself to be an incredibly talented young musician. He's a great live performer and seems to have grown a lot as a musician since his album was released. Can't wait to see what comes next for him in his music career! Will definitely try to see his next show.

Jake Bugg's music is great and he performed flawlessly. He did seem a little stiff but I think that is just his age. He was poised and composed but did really have a repore with the audience.....until the encore after he did a Neil Young cover that brought the house down...he seemed to come alive a little more and seem quite appreciative. As usual, I never understand how people can just stand there right up front when danceable music is being played. I wish the sounds wasn't so muddy at the Fox. For a 3 piece like Jake Bugg it is OK but for a larger band like the skins it's still a very muddy sound. Other than that this is the nicest theatre in the bay area.

Great venue. Amazing Show! Jake is about to make it big. Too much talking during the show though. Why would you attend if you have no intention of watching? Also, loved the first act; The Skinns.

Ive lstened to Jake Bugg for awhile before i saw him live, and he sounds just as amazing in person as on his album. His voice was perfect and he played the best songs from his old and new album. Truly an up and coming artist, truly gifted. I fell more in love with him after seeing him.

Jake Bugg @ Metropolis ( Sunday January 2014 ) By Emilio Zaga Mendez Last Sunday, it was a cold and slushy night in Montreal, except if you were inside the Metropolis. A multi-age crowd filled the St-Catherine s located venue as they waited for the 19-year-old Britain singer. The show started at 8 pm with a good soulful-rock performance by The Skins, a young band from Brooklyn, New York . They were followed by a solid set by Albert Hammond Jr and his band. The Strokes member performed songs out of his latest EP entitled ‘ AHJ . The crowd was loving this rock-n-roll night and they were anxious to see rock s new golden child take the stage .As the lights dimmed at 10 pm , the crowd screamed at the vinyl record Jake Bugg logo that was revealed as the curtains opened. The shy young man showcased his very unique voice with his Shangri La opening track ‘ There s a Beast and We All Feed It ‘ Standing in front of 3 big Marshall amps and accompanied by his 3 man band , Jake Bugg went through his 2 albums catalogue and a Neil Young song for a 1h and 15 minutes performance. The crowd was really energetic as they clapped and sang most of the songs, even if the guitarist/singer rarely talked. He did thanked his Montreal fans at the beginning and near the end . He stays loyal to them as he visited us for the third time in less than 6 months. (Osheaga & Corona Theatre ) His live voice is as good as on the album and he showed some sound diversity with a couple of acoustic versions. However , he was really reserved and concentrated on his craft instead of interacting with the audience in between songs. I really enjoyed the show , I think the Shangri La sound fits him very well and it makes his performances lean towards the old rock sound instead of folk. The driving chords did helped amped up the Metropolis, but Jake Bugg knows how to balanced out both of his styles. I would have had liked to hear more words addressed to the crowd and get some respectful silence from the venue s bar staff during the acoustic songs , but overall it was a great show. This young kid has a long way to go, and he is being mentor by some of the best : Noel Gallagher, Rick Rubin , Chad Smith, Iain Archer , to name a few . He is being embraced by the young music lovers , as well as the mature ones . I guess good music is timeless and ageless . Don t miss him next time he comes around. Setlist : 1. There's a Beast and We All Feed It 2. Trouble Town 3. Seen It All 4. Simple as This 5. Storm Passes Away 6. Two Fingers 7. Messed Up Kids 8. Ballad of Mr Jones 9. Pine Trees (Acoustic) 10. Broken ( Acoustic) 11. Simple Pleasures 12. Green Man 13. Kingpin 14. Taste It 15. What Doesn't Kill You (Encore ) 16.- A Song About Love 17.- My My , Hey Hey ( Out of the Blue) (Neil Young Cover) 18.- Lighting Bolt
