Young the Giant

Young the Giant

Young the Giant live up to their name with a youthful exuberance and a larger-than-life sound that blends intelligent pop hooks with alternative rock quirks. When he’s not headbanging along to the instrumental breaks, charismatic frontman Sameer Gadhia croons his catchy melodies and brings his songs to life with inimitable energy. While he provides the band's soulful pop foundation, dueling guitarists Eric Cannata and Jacob Tilley envelope listeners in the ambient soundscapes that they conjure with their echoing riffs. Bassist Payam Doostzadeh and drummer Francois Comtois hammer out driving rhythms to bring a furious rock edge to the band’s s.

I've seen this band too many time to keep track of. I've been a fan of them since they were The Jakes and I'll be a fan of them for the rest of my life. I've travelled to different states to see them and I'd probably follow them anywhere. For this concert I travelled 5 hours just to see them at their home show. Every single time I see them my heart melts and I love them all over again. They put on one of the greatest shows I've seen and I'm forever thankful to have had the chance of seeing them as many times as I have. I'd also like to add that this was the first performance in the brand new amphitheater and it is a very amazing venue! The general admission section is huge and there's a wonderful seating area. I would definitely come to another show here!

Young the Giant never fails at putting on a great show. These guys are truly talented. This is my third year going to see them and this time I bought the VIP tix, as well. Talented, just all around great guys! You ll enjoy the show, if you go - without a doubt!

I had only heard one song from the band before, but they were pretty darn good in concert, much better than I expected. The venue was also one of those hole-in-the-wall places; that may or may not be your forte, but I think it can be even more fun to see a show at those kind of places. The opening groups were ok, but I felt like there was a pretty wide gap in ability and quality between them and the main band. Kitten's lead singer is underage and wore a dress that tended to open a bit at her breasts when she jumped around on stage (which she did WAY too much). She also made a disparaging remark about Bob Evans, one of my favorite restaurants, so I found her group somewhat of a turnoff from that point on.:p

Excellent show. Go see them if you get a chance. Their music and presence was unforgettable. The first opening band (Yellow Capello) was pretty terrible, but the second band (KITTEN) was excellent.

I have been to a ton of shows and Young the Giant is definitely ranked high on my list of fantastic artists. All of the band members had such great energy. Sameer-the lead singer- has an amazing voice live! The Roxy was definitely my favorite venue I have been to so far. It was small and intimate. I loved everything about the Roxy and Young the Giant.

Exciting band playing great music. Very energetic stage presence. Fortunate to see them at a smaller venue like the Roxy because next time they come through, it won't be that small.

The concert made my weekend! All the band members were totally into their music and their passion was oozing from the stage. The lead singer's voice is to die for. The opening bands: Kitten & We Barbarians were just as great! These are all a must see if they are in your town.

The show was sick. Found these guys on Daytrotter (you should check it out i you don't know what it is), and i liked it so i bought the album. In all honesty, I like the Daytrotter versions of the songs better than the album version because it captures the way they sound live, which is incredible. This band is really passionate about what they are doing.

Kitten, We Barbarians and Young the Giant did an amazing job at the Roxy. I loved the dynamics of each band. Kitten stood out with their female vocalist and the performance was very powerful. We Barbarians got the crowd going and although initially I was indifferent about the band, they grew on me. Finally, let's not forget Young the Giant, the headliners. Their stage presence was amazing as always. This is my third time seeing them live and I can tell they matured after every performance. I knew them since The Jakes and since then I knew they were going to be big after listening to their first self titled CD that my friend got for free after watching a Metro Station concert. Ever since then I have been to every album release. Whether it was Shake My Hand at Chain Reaction or Young the Giant self titled at the Roxy. It was truly amazing seeing people knowing all the lyrics. Keep up the powerful, inspirational performances. On the contrary, I was extremely annoyed by the photographers. This isnt the first time I went to a concert with roaming photography, but this one female photographer decided to push everyone to the back and stand in the way front. This was bearable until she started taking photos every 2 seconds with 2 different sets of cameras. It was extremely distracting let alone the fact that she kept backing up while everyone was trying to have a good time. Her photography better be damn good. I probably was not the only one who would have like to slap the cameras out of her hands.

Premiering songs from the album released at the show, Young the Giant performed brilliantly to a packed Roxy audience. Opening the show was a band that sounded like Vampire Weekend had a naughty priest like relationships with The Beach Boys, they went by The Smiles... pretty great. The middle band started with a V, and were pretty forgettable. The lead singer looked like he was doing us all a favor, and seemed almost annoyed to have to play to such a packed and enthusiastic crowd on the Sunset Strip. Finally though, Young the Giant took the stage and played through most of the songs on their first album (available on iTunes). These guys are amazing live performers who bring an incredible energy to the stage and who you can tell truly love playing their music. If you have a chance, catch these guys live, buy the album, get on board early... these guys are going to be huge. nb

Where to start? I go to concerts often; probably one a month. This show was one of the best I have been to this year so far! Absolutely unforgettable! Both YTG and Apache Relay had great sound and good vibes were surely flowing. I am a huge fan of both these bands so of course I just enjoyed every second of seeing them live. NOT ONLY was the music top notch but the light show was simply breath taking. The lighting was really quite impressive and made the show even better. Both bands had great energy that clearly was made through the love of their music. Thank you to both Young The Giant and Apache Relay for such a great show. I would recommend anyone who likes these bands to see them live. They are AWESOME.

We saw Young the Giant perform at the National. They were pretty good in concert. Only thing I'd say is for such a chill band the crazy flashing lights were overkill. This band is really incredible. I first saw them as the warm-up band for Incubus this summer at the Hollywood Bowl and I thought they were fantastic. I was very happy to then see them play a smaller venue for KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas and they were just as good! Sameer's vocals are always spot-on and the band has such great energy! I did not recognize JOYWAVE or COLD WAR KIDS and was primarily excited for YTG only. Both opening acts were energetic and entertaining! Definitely a NEW FAN of Joywave; those guys were awesome! CWK was not as awesome at first (Opening song was NOT impressive) and did not sound as clear/clean. By song 3 they kicked it up a notch and the whole crowd was rockin'! For the record, I am a middle age dude that chose this event as a "Daddy/Daughter date" with my 16 year old High School Junior. We had a blast! Everyone was dancing, singing, and bouncing around= waving their hands in the air, like they just didn't care! Check out the show if you can, you won't regret it!

I love Young the Giant!! They are by far my favorite band. The lyrics and beats are unbelievable. I know this venue isn't completely done (in the middle of no-where type of feel with the dirt two-way road), but it was absolutely perfect for this event. It was their hometown and it felt very home-like for myself as a concert attendee. If every concert was like this, i'd go to every single one. I had tickets for "GAPIT 6" and it ended up being general area at the very front next to the stage. This also leads me to believe it wasn't completely done. We noticed our tickets had originally noted specific seats. The hang out space between the concert area and the main entrance was also great. Lots of space to lounge.

Great line up of bands. The Acoustic VIP event was very cool, with YTG playing 2 songs and taking pics with the fans. VIP got us in front of the rest of the line and we chose a prime spot in the lawn. Backstage access didn't hurt, but that was over and above the VIP that was offered.

Joywave was the main band that we went to see, but the Ticketmaster confirmation page said it started @ 730, then at the concert entrance I noticed that the individual tickets said 7pm. Upon entering I asked the ticket taker when it started and she said 630 (which I'm assuming was when the gates opened). We ended up only catching 1.5 songs from Joywave, which was very sad. What we did see was awesome. Arriving right before 730, we thought we were early/on time, but we were late.

Third time seeing Ra Ra Riot and they never disappoint! They're upbeat songs and melodic violine/cello pair add that little something that makes every song dance-worthy and happy. Young the Giant killed it with presence and sound. They played just about every song from their new album and was rocking out to them every time. I have love young the giant ever since their first album came out. But I have never been to one of their concert until this one. And I must say, WOW! They sound just like they do in concert as they do in their recorded stuff. Not only is there sound good, but man, they REALLY know how to entertain. The song order selection was spot on. The order really gave the crowd energy and got them so hyped for the next one. The choreography was very different but really entertaining. I loved their music and i thought I couldn't love it more, but I was wrong, this concert took my appreciation for the band to a whole new level. Amazing performers, love their choice of songs, love to see how much they enjoy performing, you can tell how passionate they are about their music. Love the fact that they apply their branding on the stage and even include the perfect lighting to reflect and highlight their visuals...simply perfect. Their new album is truly amazing. I will never miss a concert when they come to Montreal, it is always a pleasure to experience innate talent and artists of their caliber. This is the third concert I attended and as usual, not only had a great time but it just reconfirmed how much I love them! Good job :) Natalia

I am forever grateful to my friend for showing me YTG way back when. I saw them during their Mind Over Matter tour, and now The Home of The Strange tour. They just have a genuinely great time and want the audience to enjoy it as well. During the show they make you feel like you're a part of something amazing. The talent these men hold is immense, but more importantly their heart and passion for what they do shows in every song and every show they do. I can't wait to get to go and see them again!

Remember, for a GA show, always arrive early! This experience was unforgettable. When they came out, nothing but screams were heard. During My Body, Sameer came into the audience right next to me and sang the end of the song. Truly unforgettable.

YTG was amazing. They sound better than the album, which I didn't think was possible. And sameer is a great showman and seems really down to earth.

Very interesting venue. Wilding were supporting and although we had not heard them before, we really enjoyed them. Young the Giant exceeded our expectations taking the crowd on a journey through their more popular songs. Sound was very good.

OMG so I'm a HUGGEE fan! so get ready for some fangirling...... I had tickets to the original concert back on Valentine's day.....pretty bummed when it was rescheduled, but OMG was it worth it! Me and my friend traveled all the way from NYC to see them (four trains and two buses total), so needless to say we were sooooo ready to jam out. When they came out, it was heaven! Sameer had a sequined jacket which WAS LIFE, totally pulled off the jacket. The performances were FLAWLESS! They played every single song I love (basically, every song)....the lights were on point, the star light backdrop behind them...everything! It was also my first time seeing them live, I had no idea Sameer had such amazing stage presence! He was rocking out, dancing, hitting every single note the entire time. wonderful. We had tier GA seats with a decent view, but out of no where halfway through, this guy-who I guess was leaving- gave us his amazing seats FOR NO REASON, and let me tell you......they were unobstructed front row views of the band.......it was just amazing. Venue was beatiful

I have been to many concerts in my young life and this was one of the better ones. Both St. Lucia and Young the Giant did not disappoint. They got the crowd going and they sound so good live. I'm glad they played this venue. I had never been to Boulevard Pool before, but it has an awesome view of the Strip. I would pay to see them again.

Young the Giant never disappoints. And for a sold out show, I still felt like it wasn't too much people to enjoy myself. I ended up getting really lucky after the show, and I got to meet the band. They're super cool guys and I'll be seeing them every time they come to STL.

Young the Giant proved to me again why they are my favorite band. They sound, if not as good as their cds, better live. Sareem's voice was perfect the whole show. They had a great set and seemed happy to be on stage performing. They are the best band I've ever seen live, it was honestly amazing. I only wish I got to meet them after the concert, as they are my favorite! But, when Sareem jumped down from the stage, I was in the front row so he was right next to me! Not to mention the opening band Vance Joy, which I had never heard of, is amazing, they're definitely going on my ipod.

Literally one of the best nights of my life. My sister and I arrived at 6 to a crowd of fans waiting to get in for a spot close to the stage. We ended up being 2 rows behind the baricade when we got inside. Being that close to Young the Giant was.... I can't even describe it... It was phenomenal. Sameer's got moves; the constant hip swaying was to die for. He was so dramatic it gave me goose bumps. I will never forget that moment when Sammer and I connected eyes as well as him jumping into the crowd. I'm having some serious PCD. NEVER FORGET!

Young the Giant concert of Home of the Strange Tour was amazing, they really know how to entertain and play good music. I was already a big fan of the band but now I'm even more. Sameer, the vocalist, has such an energy he can make people feel great and happy. So as the other band members, they all rock! And Hard Rock is the best place to go to a concert, you get so close to the band you can feel the energy really high!

They played about 20 songs and succeeded in hyping up the crowd. Sameer's voice was close to perfect and it's not enough to say they are all amazing musicians. Every song they perform has feeling and they played two songs Out in the Open style. If you like their music definitely go to one of their shows. It will be something you won't forget

As a big fans of Young the Giant, my wife and I decided to pop for the VIP package when we first heard about the show coming to JAX--boy, are we glad we did! While the price was steep for the 'merch' we got as part of the package, we found the acoustic 'set' (2 songs--really?!), and the Q&A well worth it! The Band is tight, and Sameer's voice needs to be heard in person to believe! The openers were both strong in their own right as well, with Cold War Kids picking-up a BUNCH of new fans after their STRONG performance--Lead vocals are also amazing here! Finally, the full show by YTG was nothing short of spellbinding--if you weren't moved to tears by the love version of Titus Was Born, then you need to check for a pulse! Not sure how these guys have been around as long as there have, yet are just seeing some of the commercial success they so richly deserve--they've really paid their dues!! DO NOT pass-up an opportunity to see this group perform--trust me!!

We had amazing (and expensive seats) because I had heard the grading in Daily's place made higher up seats not easy to view the stage. The venue had a wide variety of a food and drink options but everything was WAY over priced!! We missed Joywave (but heard they rocked the house) and did get to see Cold War Kids full set. It was way too low key for my liking. Felt like they should have been in a fully seated venue....then came Young the Giant! Man, is Sameer Gadhia is a true performer! I am so glad he dropped out of Stanford!! The sound was amazing, the lighting was beautiful and the performance was second to none!!
