Counting Crows

Counting Crows

In November 2013, Counting Crows released their seventh album Echoes of the Outlaw Roadshow, a live recording from their recent stint as headliners on the Outlaw Roadshow festival tour. The album reflected the band's pristine sets on the tour, which treated ticket buyers to Adam Duritz's haunting lyrics, the band's tight musicianship, and intense, emotional renditions of hits like "Rain King." On both the album and in concert, the band approached old and new material with a fresh eye, surprising fans with alternate versions of hits like "Round Here" and exploring new territory with covers of Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead. The band's 2013 shows displayed the same energy they've had since breaking onto the scene in 1993, when they performed as stand-ins for Van Morrison at a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony and impressed attendees with their powerhouse performance of Morrison's "Caravan.

Overall concert was ok. Wished the Crows played more upbeat songs specially after LIVE. They pumped up the crowd with their energy.

The performance of Live and Counting Crows were excellent. The lighting and effects for Live were lackluster, but sound was great. Counting Crows lighting and effects were much better. The venue itself was great. Open space, plenty of drink and food options. Parking was easy and free!! Leaving was organized and traffic flow was good. Bathrooms easily accessible and close by.

Typical chill Counting Crows show with the picnic atmosphere of the lawn at Shoreline. Some people hate this venue but I love the non-cramped seating and some good music. I don't have a drunk guys squeezing out my row for the 3rd time to pee and get another beer.

I have been to 3 or 4 of their last local concerts - but this was by far the most amazing performance I have seen by them. They were having a great time and so was everybody in the audience. I wish I could follow this tour - I would love to see a repeat performance.

The show was okay, but not amazing. I really like Augustana, but I wouldn't really call them the opening act. Counting Crows kept bringing Augustana crew back on stage and made them sing back up until the end of the show. Some moments, Augustana didn't look like they knew they were supposed to perform all those songs. It's almost as if Adam didn't want to try too hard, so he had Augustana do all the work. If I was an avid Counting Crows fan, I would have been disappointed. As it is, I am more of an Augustana fan, so it made it a decent show.

From the opening cover of Van Morrison's Caravan the Crows rocked the PNC Pavilion. It was a wild roller coaster ride. The opening act, Augustana joined the onstage antics for many of the evening's gems. I WILL look for another opportunity to catch the Crows. You should too!

Concert was fantastic. Great setlist, many more songs than in the last several years we've seen them. Played a couple new songs, but mostly older favorites. Big Counting Crows fans and have listened to Augustana since they played together several years ago. Bands seemed to be really having fun together too. Can't wait till they come back!

Having seen Counting Crows previously, I had high expectations of this show. I was not disappointed! They played a wide variety of thier music, not sticking to just one album, and really mixed up the musical tempos! They appeared to be having just a great time performing on the stage for the fans and that great time spread to the audience. Adam Duritz encouraged the fans to sing along and join in! They also had the members of Augustana, the warm-up band, come onto the stage several times during the show, and it did nothing but add to the fun! they even threw in some non Counting Crows songs and they also sounded great!

The venue was great, but I paid to hear the Counting Crows play! The opening band, Augustana, was good, but they came out and sang about half the songs with the Counting Crows. This was fun at the beginning, but then it just got lame.

Counting Crows and Augustana put on a fantastic show at PNC Pavillion last night. Having never heard Augustana before, I was super pumped to discover them. Spunky little band with TONS of musical versatility among its members. Loved it. Very impressive. So I was equally pleased when Counting Crows integrated Augustana in its show. The two bands created some really fun and super energetic moments through their spontaneity. Counting Crows rocked hard. Always appreciate when a band brings true energy to the stage.

The show was breathtaking. It was utterly amazing. On top of that duritz really took it to a new level, pulling out his bands friends for augustana. He gets into it, making everyone get into it. He pulled out great backing stories for "Miami" and "Why Should You Come When I Call". Everyone had a great time. Immergluck (my opinion) needs better rocking out skills, and the encore was a little lame. Should've ended with "Round Here" and made everyone cry. This show was the best no less. I felt happy and sad. I cried at memories that got pulled up and at sights i saw. When a man gives all his emotion to everyone it gets pretty human. He brings life, and love. Duritz and the crows made my life special, this performance made a sweet memory. Wish i could have seen c will, my lost friend.

I attended my 10th counting crows concert last night (wahoo!), and I must say that they have never disappointed me. Adam was in high spirits, brought a ton of energy to the stage, and the band, as always, kept up with his sporadic improv and talented mid-song changes. Many of the songs were played in collaboration with Augustana, a group of young and talented musicians that I imagine could play with... well, anyone. There were times where I thought to myself, "Wow, it would be awesome of Augustana actually covered this Crows' song" as the lead singers voice added renewed emotion and power to the Counting Crows' songs of yesterday. Disappointments - the encore, while impressive, were all performed with Augustana and were all covers. I would have loved to have seen an ending with Adam and his piano... Walkaway, Holiday in Spain... however, I've seen those endings before and I suppose his past encores have spoiled me. I rated this show as 4 stars, as I have seen better Counting Crows shows in the past.

We had no idea who the opening act was for the show and were more than pleasantly surprised with Augustana. The show got even better when the CCs continued to invite them back on stage to perform with them - the lead vocalists sounded AMAZING together. The only bad part of the show was the last 20 minutes when a drunken spectator decided we wanted to hear him scream more than the music. The performance itself was 5 stars.

Counting Crows with Augustana? What an incredible show. Augustana did a few songs first at 8:00 and then joined Counting Crows for many of their songs. Counting Crows took the stage around 9:20 and front man Adam Duritz's voice was beautiful. He sounded great and looked great and both groups together harmonized very well. Overall it was a fantastic show. The crowd loved them and you could tell they were having a great time on stage.

This was my 28th time to see CountIng Crows and this show was definitely in the top 10. Great set list. Rob Thomas was also awesome as usual. The guy has so much energy. So much so that when the Crows came out it was like the energy got sucked out of the venue. Adam Duritz is just not the entertainer that Rob Thomas is, he's mellow, very mellow. But his songs are incredible. I got to hear a few songs I hadn't heard live in years. Also, this was the first time I've been back to this venue in about 12 to 13 years. What a great job they've done updating the place. The concessions and vendors especially. And definitely keep having the old ladies as ushers. It was very easy for me to turn my $20 row SS ticket into a seat on row F 5 rows from the stage. LOL.

Rob Thomas danced and sang like he was 20! He gave a show to remember! We loved all the hits he played of course, but we enjoyed his newer songs enough to buy the album that includes the CD. We really appreciate the bracelet and download of our concert!! So our seats were great. About 1/3 back on the floor. But then we realized we had the best seats in the house when he came off stage and happened to cross in front of us! Amazing guy! We love his story, his wife, his dogs, his life!

Live is the very best way to see Counting Crows! These musicians are a pleasure anytime but the added value of impromptu performances locked together tightly with the stories in the music are outstanding! Amazing show. The Ak-Chin Pavilion though sorely needs some upgrading though. The sound quality is lacking. The bass crackles distorting the otherwise wonderful show it's a shame.

BONUS: K Phillips "tagged" along and it was soooo worth it! He sounded amazing and he joined the crowd after his set and mingled with us, taking selfies and doing handstands. Rob Thomas was hands down the star of this whole presentation, he put on a fantastic show and had the crowd hopping! I was concerned that the sound at this venue would be poor as it is mostly outside. However, it was fantastic! No sound loss whatsoever, even out on the lawn. Thank you for a great show, we will definietly visit again! Downside: Beer was $12!!! I would have liked to have seen more food vendors.

The Ford Amphitheater venue was small andog intimate compared to some larger venues. It was very inviting and I would purposefully seek out concerts here. K Phillips was an excellent choice for an opener. Rob thomas was dynamic with his energy, despite the heat. But Adam and CC owned the night. Adam's vocal range is still amazing. He is such a poet aso his feeling pour through his stage presence for each and every song. I have seen them twice before just on this tour and I appreciated the set list change. Some great classics but some new additions were fantastic. Adam was personable and funny and made my drive from PA so worth it! Thank you Mr. During for a great show.

First, I have to say, I have never been to a concert where people were walking out on the headlining act in the middle of the show. This was my first Counting Crows concert and will probably be my last. They were boring and lacked interaction with the audience. The band is very talented and played multiple instruments but they showed no emotion and worst of all, the popular songs were unrecognizable. The song "Mr. Jones and Me" was the third song. It should have had been an encore. There were no introductions for any song. At one point they all just walked off the stage. They did not bow or say Thank You to the audience. They just left and then reappeared after a break. They came back and did what I think were the encores. At that point, my friend and I left - bored out of our minds. Rob Thomas, on the other hand, I can't say enough about. It was also my first time seeing him. I would definitely see him again and would recommend his concert to other people. He was lively, interacted with the audience and moved around on stage. Extremely entertaining. I wish he came on last and not the Crows. He thanked the audience multiple times for coming and for their support. He gave some background information on songs or said whether it was new or not. His band was unbelievable! His set was well worth the cost of the ticket!

Despite weather conditions outside the indoor show allowed for a much more intimate experience. Kind of like seeing a really good bar band. Rob Thomas' set was awesome and very entertaining. The Counting Crows had some good moments. And taking into account Adam Duritz's more laid back, bummy style, he just seemed kinda pretentious and a little careless at times. Rob Thomas had great energy and musical variety and definitely kept the audience dancing and singing along. This was my first time seeing him live and I look forward to seeing him again!

K Phillips opened. It was a tough gig because not everyone was in the Art Center while tey were performing. They sounded good though. Rob Thomas came out earlier than I expected. That sucked for people who hadn't shown up yet, but was great for those who had. His singing and band were on the mark. 3AM and Bent, Smooth, and solo works. Volume was perfect (for this 56 year old man). Counting Crows came out and cranked up the volume too much in my opinion. If I had ear plugs I would have worn them, Aside from that, though, the performance was great. I was afraid I'd be disappointed based on some reviews here. I was not. Adam sang (not talked) most lyrics. The set list was great even though I would have liked "Omaha". I'm not sure why but a lot of people did leave during Counting Crows' performance.

I was there to see Rob Thomas. Even though it was a co-headline show with Counting Crows, I am not sure why Counting Crows were top billed. A LOT of people left after Rob Thomas performed, and then more people left after every Counting Crows song. Rob Thomas was great despite some technical problems early on. He's always fantastic, but I wished he would have done more than one song from The Great Unknown. I like Counting Crows, but their performance was disappointing. It took waaayyyy too long for them to set up the stage after Rob Thomas performed, and then Adam Duritz didn t even interact with the audience until he was an hour into their set. He rambled through the songs, half-talking, and didn't seem into it. The band sounded great, but there was no joy in performing for anyone on the stage and little joy in the audience. We sat through an hour of it bored, sleepy, and feeling bad about how many people were leaving and sort of obliged to stay to be polite. But, after an hour of low-energy monotony, when Adam Duritz finally did address the audience an hour into the show then said he was gonna take it down a notch and go acoustic, we couldn't bear another minute and finally left. I imagine there was only about 1/3 of the audience remaining when we left. Given that I was there to see Rob Thomas and he put on a high energy, great show, I have no regrets and would go again. I just wouldn't stay for the Counting Crows set again.

Rob Thomas put on a great show.! Really enjoyed his set list of Matchbox 20, solo, and cover songs. Wow,Rob can still belt it out and work the stage. I would love to see another live show of his in the future. Counting Crows, were not as lively. Adam looked and performed as if he was forced to be out on stage singing and performing iconic hits as if he just woke up. With a slumber crowd, lost attention, stretch, and a yawn we called it an early show (along with many others) as Taco Bell drove a higher interest.

Ok, a couple songs were a little mushy and Adam wasn't trying to belt out the original highs we're used to. He'd toss one out here and there to make it seem worth while. He told the audience that it had been a year since they toured and had only done a couple shows before this one. Joked about forgetting lyrics and completely messing up songs... Not what a paying customer really want hear but, ok. The tunes were still great and mostly recognizable. I'm glad I finally saw them after loving their music for decades. Hopefully it really was kind of a warm up show.

Having seen CC more times than I can count, in as many cities, I'd say this show was pretty good. They have ALWAYS changed up the songs when they sing live so I'm pretty used to that. What I didn't care for, like others have said, was that Adam just seemed to talk through a log of them rather than actually sing. I still love them and hadn't heard much of the new stuff so I definitely enjoyed that. This show wasn't great compared to others but overall I enjoyed it. Especially love when he sits down and plays the piano...always my favorite part of the show.

The crows were spot on. The first opener was better than Citizen Cope. The light show was good. Really enjoyed the venue. Acoustics were good. Our only detractors was the lead singer of crows dropped the 'F' bomb several times between songs, which I ciuld have done without. Other than that, it was a great time. Also the crows did not play 'round here'.

It was a life long dream of mine since I first heard the Counting Crows in the early 90's to see them live and I finally did. Adam and the band were everything I had hoped to see and more. They played the perfect mix of older and newer songs and really interacted with the crowd. Holis Brown was the first opening band and they were great! They gained at least 2 new fans that night, plus the room seemed to be a buzz about how great they were. I am already looking to order them on Amazon. Citizen Cope was a hot mess at best. That singer was so stoned that he barely knew wtf he was for the first couple songs. Their music identity was all over the map between reggae/rock/slow songs (that didn't fit in their set whatsoever).

O M G. What an incredible show - everything was awesome from beginning to end. CC loves their fans and pours their heart into their performance. Adam was happy, chomping his gum and seemed to really be enjoying his time in Raleigh! Only bad part of show - we had front row, right of center and people were very rude walking in our line of vision, and stumbling as they went to get their 8th beer. - this was a RedHat issue, not a Crows issue. Do yourself a favor and get out there see them!

Permanent ampitheatre style seating in this venue. Many, many people treated themselves to the bar during the performance. After having to stand to let what must have been the 10th or 12th person past carrying 2 beer - mid 4th or 5th song - I left. Crappy lack of respect for others was spurred on by Adam Duritz telling the crowd they could do whatever they want. The band's performance, that I saw, was good.

This was my first time seeing the Counting Crows. It was a belated birthday gift from my wonderful boyfriend. The theatre was beautiful and our seats were great. The whole show was simply amazing, well words cannot describe how much I enjoyed it. I did not want it to end. They played and sang songs that I was not expecting which made it even more amazing. Came back for a 3 song encore which included Rain King which is one of my most FAVORITES! They are coming to Seattle in September, YES I am going to see them again then too. Thank you to Adam and the Counting Crows for a night I will NEVER forget.

I've been to well over 100 concerts, it's my favorite pastime. I have always loved counting crows since the 90's but never saw a show until this year. It was better than I could have imagined. They are amazing musicians and are better in person than any cd or iTunes I assure you. Played everything I wanted to hear from old to new. I just was blown away at their talent. Next time they your I will be purchasing front row seats for sure...it will be worth every penny!

I bought these tickets at the very last minute because I have always wanted to see the Crows live. I have been following them for 20 years but never got around to going to a show. So I hopped onto TM the day before the show and magically there was 2 seats in the middle in section B so I went for it. CC came out at 9PM and started with Round Here and it sounded as if they had been on stage for 2 hours already. These guys really hit the ground running and the passion that Adam brings to the music is one of a kind. The band is very tight and sounds just fantastic, which is why they have been together for over 20 years. From now on I will be going to see the Crows for as long as they continue to tour.

Counting Crows never disappoint. They are an exceptional band- but live there music has so much more dimension, passion. Love that they played some of the songs from the new album. God of Ocean Tides is beautiful, Earthquake Driver rocks & Palisades Park is the perfect combination of classic Counting Crows songs. The show was phenomenal. The venue is awesome too- love seeing shows at The Beach @ Mandalay Bay.

I have been listening to Counting Crows since I was born. I'm 24, so they have basically been around my whole life! It was an unforgettable experience to see them play the songs that have meant so much to me for so long performed life and electric. Adam sounds the same, if not better, than he does on his records and I loved their whole feel. The whole band is so talented. It was just amazing! The venue was nice, but it was more like a big gym which made the acoustics a little less than great. But other than that, the staff was friendly and helpful. The shuttle from the casino to the event center was quick and easy.

Counting Crows & Toad the Wet Sprocket was a great show, looked to be a sold out show. Counting Crows still one of the best sounding live bands out there on tour. Never a bad show, they just play great music. Had the chance to go backstage with the Counting Crows, very nice to the fans who come out to see them perform.

These two bands are so incredibly talented. If you haven't seen them, then what are you waiting for?! Loved the set list from Anna Begins to Rain King. Just awesome. The Stir is a great venue, with the exception of possibly having the slowest moving bar lines in the history of the universe, but I digress. Counting Crows...I love you. You put on an amazing show once again!

If you are a fan of Counting Crows or folk rock on any level, this show will be worth the price. The Counting Crows are great live performers. The venue was decent. The parking was great and the line to get in moved fast. However, the spot where we stood was very uncomfortable and the designated spots for seating were too far from the stage. I wish the whole venue had more of a slope up away from the stage. View was good, sound was too high and sometimes peaked the speakers causing distortion. The slope of the land was too small to justify sitting but too high to be comfortable standing for a long period. Not so good for short people.

This show was excellent. Bit of an older crowd but that makes sense given the time these bands hit their peaks. I would argue that Counting Crows is getting better every album. They played 3 new songs from the upcoming Somewhere Under Wonderland and they were all excellent. The rest of the set list covered songs from across the catalog. Overall a fantastic show.

Beautiful night in NY- Dave and the Lion started it off nicely. Toad did a workmanlike set of classic hits and a few tunes from recent album. Sounded good. They were never terribly exciting or strong on crowd interaction. Good to hear them again, but the night belonged to Adam Duritz and Counting Crows. What a great set- Adam was in great form- vocally and in his upbeat relations with his fans. Many classic hits, a few rarer nuggets, and strong new songs. Awesome show.

Toad was awesome! So happy to see them back together playing again after so many years. Unfortunately, the lead singer for the Counting Crows was a mess. It was mostly sad to see. There were about two songs that he did well on, but he can't hit the high notes anymore, & he obviously has a drinking problem, or something else. At one point he even said he might fall off the stage! The venue is always great to see concerts. We got rained on, but it was so hot outside, the rain was almost welcomed.

Seeing two of my favorite bands together was a awesome experience. The down to earth nature of toad the wet sprocket, with the kick ass music I used to listen to when I was in high school blaring in my face. Counting crows had a seem less performance filled with energy and spot on vocals. Dude is a beast! This is a concert that goes down in my top five for sure

Concert was a blast! The Ryman venue was very cool, small, and great acoustics!! Counting Crows put on a great show as usual. They played five songs off their yet to be released CD. Toad the Wet Sprocket opened up for them and they were great and entertaining as well. A must see when they come to a venue near you!!

One of the best Counting Crows concerts I've ever been to. The Ryman Auditorium is the perfect venue for them. The music selection was great, including songs off the upcoming album and old favorites. I even got to meet Adam Duritz and the band outside by the bus after the show. Perfect night.

The show was exactly what I expected. I saw the Counting Crows 17 years ago as part of Rockfest and they made me a fan. Bought their albums on the drive home and have loved them since. This show just solidified my opinion of this band. They are fantastic. They are amazing live!! Toad the Wet Sprocket and Daniel the Lion did a great job and made a fan out of me.

Was an extraordinary concert always love seeing Counting Crows they are always fun to watch and listen to. The only thing I was kind of upset about is how there was not any Counting Crows apparel. Definitely became a bigger Saints of Valory fan. But I am glad Adam and the band tough it out and came and played at the best concert venue ever. Hope they come back out soon and this time with apparel.! 8P.

I have seen these 2 bands play together 7 times now. I really find it difficult to say anything negative about this show. I guess if I had to find something that I was disappointed about, it was the fact that The Counting Crows neglected to play "Accidentally in Love" in their playlist. That being said, I can tell you that seeing a band play on the last night of their tour is pretty cool.... I suppose you could get the band that is so anxious to get off the road that they don't give a rats a** about this last gig, but Adam and crew stepped up big time and gave us all a show to remember. Adam is truly a showman. An entertainer personified! When he sings certain songs, you FEEL his emotion. It is easy to recognize that some of his songs were written at a period of time in his life that was tough. I thoroughly enjoyed "Hospital" and also "Untitled Love Song".... the latter's live version better than the studio.

I always enjoy watching this band play--- they are ALWAYS exceptional. You can tell they enjoy what they are doing & are having fun doing it, which in turn makes the experience more entertaining & engaging for the audience. The Costa Mesa show was perhaps the best I have attended. They came out full of energy & playful, and just didn't stop! I am pretty sure everyone in the theater was on their feet for most, if not all, of the concert. Perfect night, even with the rain during the encore...somehow it made the night more amazing.
