I'm not quite sure what I was expecting when I bought tickets to see Alton Brown. I just knew that I really enjoyed watching him on the Food Network and I'd heard mumblings in the past about how good his show was. I think I stalked him online for over a year until he came back to the Washington DC area. But boy was it worth the wait! His show was fantastic! He was entertaining and informative. I actually cried because I was laughing so hard. He knows people as well as he does food and science. He cracked jokes, sang a song or two, and taught us all something in the process. I hope I don't have to wait as long for the next tour but I will definitely be there!

This show is perfect for all ages! So engaging! Alton came up to us on a little robotic iPad and posed for pictures and was a great host! We laughed and laughed the entire time. I would definitely recommend anyone to go-- food and science lovers alike! Honestly even if you didn't like either but you liked a good laugh, you would have fun too.

The show was educational and entertaining from beginning to end. Alton connected with the audience and by involving members of the audience in the show he added another level of interest. The show was paced very well and the inclusion of live music, video, and humor kept everyone on the edge of their seat. We enjoyed every aspect of this show. No wonder he performed before a full house!!

Really funny. A great show for Alton's long time fan base. Alton was by far the star. The props and experiments were secondary, but he really made them funny. Great audience involvement.

Alton's live stage show is great fun. He plays music, talks about food, and does some funny yet educational presentations. It's like "Good Eats" on steroids! He does quite a lot with a couple of audience members. If you liked his TV shows you will enjoy his live show.

This guy is a hoot and a half, even funnier than on the TV Show Good Eats because he doesn't have to be PG13. Not that he's vulgar but he can be more blunt. I especially loved his list of pet peeves he did as "If I were the Food God" segment. Absolutely go see AB if you get the chance. You will laugh so hard your will be in pain and tears will flow. My hubby and I both came out with a headache from laughing so hard.

My husband and I had a wonderful time watching Alton Brown in Huntsville. The venue was clean, seating was easy to find, and it was easy to exit once the show finished. Alton Brown was spectacular! He really catered his show to the city he was in. He learned about Huntsville before performing his show. I was surprised that he played so much music during his show, but it was great! It was like a sketch comedy-science-food act.

I do not have enough positive things to say about this experience. I expected to enjoy the show because I've grown up watching Alton on TV but my entire family was blown away. The show was hilarious. I would encourage anyone and everyone to go. It's not necessarily a show for foodies; Alton Brown is a comedian who talks about food more than a foodie who is occasionally funny. My family ranges from 21 to 56 and everyone was laughing and even my youngest brother was talking about how great the show was the next day. That kid is hard to impress and only went along because it was a family outing.

I'm a big fan of Alton Brown. I was really surprised at this show. It was fun and entertaining. However, I expected him to teach about the science of cooking. Instead, the first half dealt with using liquid nitrogen to make a drink, and the last half was about making popcorn. Nothing really novel about any of this. Plus, he broke into songs a number of times that were not very good; also detracted from the event. He said this was the start of a new tour. I really feel he should modify it as many of the people I spoke with were similarly surprised at the lack of cooking. After all, the title "eat your science" suggests that was the theme of the show.

Alton Brown is a geek, and I say that as an adoring fan of Mr. Brown's work. Fans of Alton's long career on the Food Network, including shows such as Good Eats, Feasting on Asphalt, Iron Chef and The Next Food Network Star, will go to The Edible Inevitable Tour with certain expectations - and those expectations will be met. Do not be scared off by the yeast puppets. Before the show and during intermission, video of Muppetish, belching and farting puppets, who are supposed to represent yeast, play on a huge, iPad-like screen. It's funny at first, then almost achingly annoying, but they are not a preview of bad things to come. Once Alton hits the stage, you forgive him for the stupid puppets. You soon find out that Alton is something of a wannabe Weird Al Yankovic. He sings several goofy songs about food that are pretty darn good. He also plays guitar: Who knew? The show includes Brown's famous lecture, "Ten Things I'm Pretty Sure I Know About Food." It's funny because it's true, and because Alton Brown is ultimately very entertaining and he knows his material inside and out. Other highlights of the show feature a wacky approach to making ice cream and an homage to This Is Spinal Tap involving an Easy Bake Oven. Alton had this to say about his show in an interview for a local magazine, "Stories are interesting, but everything is in the telling. I find all the different angles on food fascinating. It's hard to go wrong with food as the subject ... the trick is finding the interesting connective tissue that pulls everything together. That's the juice." This show is juicy and fun for foodies of all ages.

I ve been an Alton Brown fan since day one. Really looked forward to his show. Not really what I thought it would be. A lot of talking and singing with only a couple demonstrations. The demonstrations consisted of how to mix alcohol drinks and different ways to make popcorn. Was disappointed because I was under the impression that it would involved actual food. On the other hand, the singing and talking was fun. Just a lot of it.

I have not been to any of his previous shows, but am a fan of Good Eats, Cutthroat Kitchen and a lot of his other work, It was not exactly what I was expecting, but I was very happily surprised. The show was sciency, funny, and well constructed. Plus, since it was the very last show of that tour, it felt a bit less scripted. Overall, it was a blast! Alton was just as you would expect him from seeing him on tv. If I ever get the opportunity, I would like to meet him as he seems like a great fellow with both a good humor streak (even if it can be dark) and a stellar llevl of knowledge of food and the science of food and how to make it all taste good as well as having fun with it. I am very glad he decided to do the tour and provide something truly different and fun for us to enjoy. My wife and I drove down from the Knoxville area to see his last show of the tour in the beautiful Tivoli Theater and hope to see him again there or in Knoxville if he does another tour. Great show, Alton! I would not have missed it for the world! Thanks for doing it!

I have been a Alton Brown fan for years. I was very excited to finally see him in person at an event. They did put a lot of effort into the show. My issue was that the effort was put into songs and goofy skits. He popped popcorn a couple different ways and mixed a drink. I was really hoping for a lot more cooking and science and not nearly as much singing and story telling. I am still happy I got to see him live, but it was kind of a let down overall.

I am what you might call a moderate fan of Alton Brown's. I've seen probably a dozen episodes of Good Eats. I like his scientific and humorous approach to cooking, and I thought my wife would have a good time. I was just hoping it wasn't going to be lame. I was simply blown away. HIs comedic timing, content, and audience engagement were incredible. To pull of a 2.5 hour one-man show is impressive enough, but I honestly wanted more when it was over. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. He's a very gifted teacher as well - I don't think I'll ever forget his approach to cocktails. His on-the-fly banter with audience members and location-specific tie ins reveal his genuine enjoyment of the show. He's not bored with it and neither was anyone else. I would absolutely pay to see him again.

Very disappointed in the show. The first 40 minutes were spent telling a not so family friendly story about dog sitting. Only two food experiments were done during the whole show. He sang some not so funny songs that wasted time. You learn more watching one 30 minute episode of "Good Eats". I was really excited about going and learning things but was very let down.

The Wang venue is stunning. However this show is not. Alton Brown is a clever man but he's also got quite the mean streak. One of his bits in the first half was a talk about bacon. "Raise your hand if you love bacon." Of course most everyone does. Then, "Raise your hand if you don't like bacon." A few people do. Including a lady in front row center. The on stage camera man puts her up on the huge stage video screen so all the 3,500 present can see her. Brown starts to quiz her. Questions her mental condition and so on. The woman is mortified. The audience is laughing at first but that starts to be replaced by silence. I'm shifting in my seat and asking my daughter next to me where is he going with this? She is equally incredulous. It goes on longer to the point that some man shouts out: "This is all Bullshit" loud enough for the entire theatre to hear. This does not pause in Brown's bullying of the woman. Eventually though, it's over. My daughter who works in theater said: "Good actors who get lost can usually find there way back, but not him." But a few days later it dawned on me that was not ad-lib. This was part of the script. Really? He does this every show? That's wrong on all sorts of levels. There were other moments too including a audience participant on stage telling Brown in a very serious tone: "Don't push it Alton..." I don't recommend this show to anyone and we'll not go to see him again.

I have mixed feelings. While the show was extremely entertaining as far as delivery, I was a bit disappointed in the content. Without giving away the specifics of the show, the content in both halves was nothing most people haven't been exposed to previously. My 10-year-old grandson attended with my husband and me, and he was enthralled with everything. Aside from the "adult beverage" aspect that's part of the experience, the "science" may be more geared more toward that type of audience. Still a very enjoyable evening, and still love Alton!!

I respect Alton Brown as a food expert and his creativity when it comes to making everyday gadgets bigger than life. He unfortunately is not a song and dance man and I found the show dragging and uninteresting during these moments. The exception was the popcorn tribute to Devo, which I quite enjoyed. But, Mr. Brown with guitar in hand singing silly food songs did not hold my interest at all. Alton Brown is best at making the science behind food interesting and entertaining at the same time. The anatomy of a cocktail was fun as was the popcorn model that eventually popped on the audience member. I'm glad I attended the performance, but once is enough.

Alton Brown was his old self from the days of Good Eats explaining the amazing science behind everything from how to make bad cocktails taste better to popcorn. I didn't really know what to expect (my wife is an Alton Brown fan, this as a gift for her), was he just going to cook food for 90 minutes, do small scale visual gags, or what...? Turns out this is a big scale production, with neat set pieces, some music numbers, big moments, and some audience interaction. It was very funny. Much funnier than I could have expected it to be. I don't really watch any of his TV shows, but I'd go see him again live, for sure. It was a well oiled machine. Maybe my only criticism was that it felt like some elements of the show that were supposed to be improvised were actually heavily scripted (like possibly the Q&A). Not a huge deal in the long run.

Alton Brown, he takes equal parts of chef, musician, and stand up comic, and mixes it thourly with science. Tastefully done. He invited a few people from the audience, always a risky move, and got the most out of them. His improv / comedic talent really comes through. He even sings a couple of songs while playing guitar. Oh yeah, some fantastic props you have to see. You get all that, plus you actually learn a little science.... Can't wait until he comes back.

This guy is a true entertainer, whether dealing with food, playing his guitar or pulling tricks on volunteers from the audience.

We love Alton Brown and bought tickets months prior to the show. The show was basically broken up into Wheel of Alcohol and Making Popcorn. The balcony seats at the Saenger were the worst seat I have ever sat in. My BF who is 6 ft tall was miserable and so was I. I will never ever get seats in the balcony again. The show was funny and audience participation was good. I didn't walk away knowing something new as you do with his Good Eats show.

I really enjoyed the show. I'm always amazed at Alton's knowledge of chemistry. I liked the sock puppets that burped.... There were so many different aspects to the show from music to jokes to popping popcorn and making mixed drinks. I took my dad for his birthday and he also really enjoyed it. It was an unusual yet very entertaining show!

For most of the show we were watching a screen with no live action at all. Zero food was made for at least the first hour. Two hours in and the bartender (not Alton) had made a cocktail, still no food. Alton Brown is better on T.V. because he just did a long running monologue that felt more like a rant of surplus ideas than a food or science show. He did explain some science elements, but really obvious ones that you couldn't reproduce at home - unless you keep liquid nitrogen around. It was disappointing and we left shortly after intermission. Save your evening, go have a great dinner and watch old episodes of Good Eats followed by Bill Nye the Science Guy. You'll get more out of it!

It was as though AB thought he might mike to try his hand at being a stand up. Perhaps I was mislead by name of the show, but I was expecting some science, maybe something about food, but mostly this show was AB talking about himself (there must have been 30 minutes just about one night's midnight snack). There was also a bit of a nod to Gallagher, making big messes on the stage that overflowed on to the front rows. I was primarily at the show because of a friend who had been wanting to go see AB live for years, we were both disappointed and will not be going to another.

Not knowing what to expect from his live show, I can say my wife and I enjoyed every minute of the show. It was almost 3.5 hours long (with a :20 intermission). We laughed the whole time and got to see a part of his persona that doesn't normally come across on the small screen. I HIGHLY recommend this show and would go see him again if the opportunity arises. P.S. - don't forget to ask - via Twitter - if you can borrow some nutmeg...

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed Alton s latest road show. He is funny while including science and food. The audience was well invested. I had no idea he could sing. I would definitely attend more of his shows and will definitely attend other offerings at the Genessee Theater.....what a gem.

Dang you Alton Brown! I can't stop humming Mise En Place 4 days later! GREAT show and good fun. More food science would be even better. My three Good Eats books will arrive tomorrow. It's all your fault that I may even learn something about cooking.

My wife and I have been fans of Alton Brown for a while now. We enjoy watching Good Eats when it's on TV and own a number of Alton's books. I wasn't sure what to expect when we started watching the show. I had read about all of the great reviews but I didn't want to read too far into the show to spoil it for myself. I was constantly laughing and some times, laughing so hard my face hurt. The songs and humor were very much appreciated and I even learned a few science facts I didn't know about (from watching Alton's shows). I would very much recommend this show. Be prepared for a good time and a lot of laughing.
