Heart

Ann Wilson and her younger sister, Nancy Wilson first showed the world that women can rock when their band Heart stormed the charts in the '70s with hits like "Crazy on You," "Magic Man," "Barracuda," ‘Straight On," "Even It Up," "Kick It Out" and so many more.  They continued topping the charts through the ‘80s and into the ‘90s with huge hits like "These Dreams," "Alone," "What About Love," "If Looks Could Kill," "Never," and a string of other hits that showcased the sisters' enormous talents as both musicians and singers. Along the way, Heart sold more than 30 million records, had 21 top 40 hits, sold out arenas worldwide, and had a profound influence on rock music. In the mid-'90s, Ann and Nancy returned to Seattle and formed The Lovemongers, with long-time collaborator Sue Ennis and performer Frank Cox.

Every song Heart performed was undeniably awesome. The problem was they didn't perform enough of them. After just under an hour they left the stage and returned to play 3 Zeppelin songs and that was it. Very disappointed in the length of the show. To top it off the didn't even include Zepp's "Rock and Roll" in the Zeppelin set which was a song they often included. Great job on the songs but wished for a few more. 68$ cheapest tix for about 68 minutes of music. Not the greatest value.

Heart and Joan Jett really rocked. Their voices were clear in the still night. Cheap Trick shouted all of their lyrics. Quick changeovers between bands - excellent. All of the hits were song.

We were very stoked to see Heart on Tuesday evening @ DTE. Michael Grimm was a pleasant surprise. We loved the Wilson sisters and the band was spot on. Ann of course sounded awesome & I expected her to. She always sounds great, Nancy broke a string on her guitar which I noticed right away but she was still strummin' away. The only bummer for me was no..."Tell It Like It Is", "Even It Up", "Dog & Butterfly" and "Dreamboat Annie". But we can't have everything & I wasn't asked to consult on the playlist! :-) I would always skip the 80's & go for the 70"s Heart but I am 43. I hope they change the playlist somewhat as I am seeing them @ the end of August @ Van Andel Arena.

I thoroughly enjoyed Hearts' performance. Their sets were played with energy and gave me the impression that jammin' at the DTE was their destiny. They played a few songs that I had never heard them perform which is a change up and goes to show that there isn't much Anne Wilson can't sing.My only mark on the evening is that the band didn't perform as long as normal, perhaps one half hour shorter than normal.

The Heart concert at DTE Energy Theatre was soooo great! They still sounded just as good as they always did. Ann Wilson has one of the most incredible voices and Nancy is an amazing guitarist. I would recommend seeing them to anyone. We had excellent seats at an excellent concert. Thank you Heart.

Heart sounds just as good as they did on "Dreamboat Annie" 30 years ago. Ann Wilson can belt it out, and Nancy can jam!!! We wished they could have played longer than 1 1/2 hours, but enjoyed every minute. Plus, opening act, Michael Grimm was great - what a cool voice!

Heart throbbed last night at DTE: Ann Wilson was powerful, energized, and seemingly timeless with her searing soprano soaring above the music much to the delight of the Boomer crowd who came once more to pay homage to this sisterhood of rock. Nancy impressed with masterful playing of both electric and acoustical guitar and also played mandolin nicely. Her voice seemed to falter on her lead songs, requiring Ann to fill in and support, but the enthusiactic and at times loving crowd didn't seem to mind, or even notice. The rest of the band provided the support to showcase Ann's amazing (esp. given her age) vocals and Nancy kinetic guitar playing. All I can say is I'm sorry I missed their show twenty years ago but very glad I saw them last night.

Heart was exceptional! They came out roaring with Baracuda. I saw them over 30 years ago (hard to believe) and they were as exceptional now as they were then! Every song rocked. My 9 year old daughter was with us and loved the show. The only issue was that is was very, very loud.

I had never seen Heart in concert, but love their music. I was a little concerned based on the age of the Wilson sisters. But both of their performances were well beyond my expectation. We had great seats (row H) and could see everything quite well, even with everyone standing through most of the performance. My only negative is a typical one. I love both of the Wilson sister's voices and the instuments were too loud to really enjoy them fully, especially the two part harmony.

Saw the show last night at DTE (formally known as the unforgettable "Pine Knob Music Theatre"). The weather was a little chilly from the rain earlier in the night, but not too cold for a Summer Concert with "Heart" head lining. The night started out with a decent opening act- unknown to me- but the guy still had good vocals. Then, "Heart" took the stage about 9 p.m.. Ann and Nancy were great- as usual. The lady on keyboards was very good as well- although the way she wore her hair in ponytails reminded me of Abby in NCIS. Nancy jammed on guitar, and Ann prooved without a doubt that she still has excellent Vocals even after all the years they have been performing. Ann even hit all the high notes. The band put on a Great show with many of the ol' favs and a good time was had by all, proving........Heart still has Heart !!!!!!

Went to see Heart at DTE energy theater in Clarkston, Mi. June 30th. While Ann Wilson has always had a fabulous voice[and still does], we waited for the concert to begin until about 9:20 pm. It was slated to begin at 7:30pm! I left work early to get down there in time(about a two hour drive)...only to sit and wait...and wait.............and wait! The show started at about 8:10 , and alas was some guy out of Vegas playing his guitar! Then...surprise we had an intermission. A long intermission. When Heart finally appeared on stage, people went nuts! They played very well...however, they seem to have a pronounced fondness for other people's music (i.e. Zepplin and the Who). Not that other people's music is not cool...but we did not pay $55 bucks to hear somebody else's hits...we wanted Heart music. perhaps I am a little more negative about the experience because of the fiasco last fall, when Heart was slated to play with Journey and Cheap Trick. After waiting an hour for them to set up...they came out on stage long enough to announce that Ann Wilson was sick and could not sing. So they didn't play at all. That ticket cost each of the three of us $53 bucks. They never offered a refund or discounted tickets for the next show in the area or anything..So I was truly expecting big things this time around. As it turned out, they played only for about an hour and ten minutes. I've been a big fan of Heart for 35 years, but I don't plan to ever waste my money on another concert where they are featured. Don't get me wrong ...they are an extremely talented group, but the rest of the bull kind of ruined it for me. DTE was, as always, beautiful. All the staff was great and helpful and friendly. My advice to you all...wait for the new cd coning out in 2010. They said they have about five songs completed in the studio.Also... you couldn't even take pictures because Heart requested no cameras!

As always - Heart was great. Superb playing & voices. Way too short of a concert though. I think - 1 hour & 20 minutes? Didn't play Dog & Butterfly - what's up with that. Ann Wilson - big girls can have nice clothes and look nice - ditch the icky icky black sweater and ugly white tennis shoes.

Good show, they rocked but didn't play long enough, they were only on from 9-10:30, I guess the old folks have to go to bed early. They did play a lot of thier hits and favorite songs but there were a few they missed we would have liked to hear. Alone was a dissapointment too as they slowed it down a whole lot, would have liked to hear it faster.

Cheap Trick kicked off the night and got the crowd jumping. Joan Jett took the stage and left no doubt just why she is considered one of the best female rockers of all time. The night ended with the amazing vocal talent of Ann and Nancy Wilson aka: Heart! No words to describe the emotion that these two legends brought to the stage. This concert brought together some amazing musical talent and offeted me the opportunity to check off a couple bucket list items: Heart and Joan Jett!! Speechless!!

I've seen Cheap Trick a few times before and I've seen Heart before so I was mainly here for Joan Jett. With that said - I took my 23 year old son with me and we couldn't have asked for a nicer evening. The weather was perfect. Cheap Trick opened the show and brought high energy to the stage right away. Their set was typical but I was pleasantly surprised when they did a cover of Lou Reed's (Velvet Underground) I'm Waiting for the Man. Very cool. Next came Joan Jett. She wasn't as high energy as Cheap Trick but very interactive with the crowd. This was my first time seeing her live so I wasn't sure what she'd play from her repertoire. I was very pleased with the set though. Especially surprised that she did Light of Day. Heart closed out the show. They still rock but they were my least favorite of the night. The new material was okay but they did several of the slower 80s and 90s tunes which kind of sucked the wind out of the place. They finished pretty strong though with a dedication to 9/11 victims and a Zeppelin medley. Left feeling pretty good.

My wife surprised me for my birthday with these tickets. All three bands looked and sounded great. They sounded just the same as almost 30 years ago. Great sets. They played all the favorites as well as some new songs. This concert was on 9 /11, so it was nice to see the bands pay tribute to it, esp. Here in DC, where the Pentagon was hit. Thank you!! I would certainly see them again. Great sound. Go ahead and spring for the VIP parking for this venue. It really makes a difference in getting out of there afterwards.

Three bands Cheap Trick, Joan Jett & the Black hearts & HEART. I mainly went because of Heart. Ann looked great & was very warm & friendly with everyone. Nancy still kicks her feet up while playing her guitar. They did everyone of my favorite songs. Joan was great as well, she still has all her energy & the voice is still great. She was very friendly with all of us & wanted everyone to have a good time. Her bass player was very good, a Jersey boy. Yea Hal. 3 incredible acts all on one stage. The night started with Cheap Trick, and even though they're not my favorite band, they put on a solid show. Then after a brief intermission out came Joan Jett. Holy Moly! That woman can still rock like she's 16 and in The Runaways!! Then the pièce de résistance, HEART!!! It's pretty much become an annual event for me to see Heart perform on their summer tour, and just like last year they did not disappoint! They did NOT disappoint at all.....well maybe....wish that they had played longer at least 1.5 hours. All 3 groups have so many songs that they have sung in the past. That is what we the fans remember and like about these groups. Too bad it didn't start at 7 instead of 8 so that they all could have played more. Overall a FANTASTIC concert by ALL 3 Groups!

I have to skip over Cheap Trick here because they had the volume turned up too loud and a distorted the audio. I walked back out to the lounge and stayed there until the last few songs. Joan Jett put on a nice show playing all of her hits and Heart put on a good show. Nancy Wilson still has the pipes to sing the rock ballad songs of the late 70's. The band was good but I expected a lead guitar show during Barracuda and did not get it. Heart finished off the night with Zep classics Immigrant Song and Stairway to Heaven to finish their set list. BB&T pavilion was disappointing. Don't buy the lemonade for seven dollars. The chairs in the pit area where I was sitting down in the fifth row center were dirty and disgusting. I don't know how often they take these chairs out and power wash them but they were nasty.

This was a rare triple bill worth seeing all around - not a bad act in the bunch. I am a long time Heart and Cheap Trick fan and Joan Jett earned my admiration. Any body want to say they are has been or washed up or just don't have it any more - I think not! Ann Wilson is THE female voice in rock and with her sister Nancy can entertain us for another 40 years. Cheap Trick have such a catalog of hits you never know what you might get. As my first time seeing any of these bands, I wasn't sure what to expect. Arrived "on time" according to website and ticket faces, but Cheap Trick was already on stage performing. Word is they started 15 minutes early. I was disappointed as their sound seemed "muddy." They were the band I was most looking forward to seeing/hearing, but were the least fun for me as an audience member. The "energy" of their music that I remembered just wasn't there. Ended their run with classic hits (The Flame, Surrender, and more) Joan Jett was next and despite the years, rocked her @ss off. New songs mixed with classics. She was great- made me wonder what I missed back in the 80's! Heart came out and did a good set. They too rocked. A little disappointed in Barracuda- as it seemed a bit slowed down, but they did a PHENOMENAL rendition of Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven. It was fantastic! Overall- Good show. Negatives- a couple four rows forward stood together throughout the whole show- blocking our view and the that of the ladies behind us. THEY got too loud and obnoxious complaining about the other group. They also drank too much and kept bumping into me and my son. At one point, after having spent the whole of the last song with her gut on my arm, the lady directly behind me started grousing about the other couple (again.) I turned to asked them to stop, but the lady saw my face and started asking if she was right. She then wanted to debate the issue, but I wouldn't engage. Also, my row apparently had the bladders of pre-schoolers as despite being mid-row, we had to stand and let couples pass 2-3 times each.

I am form Seattle and grew up in the era when Heart was coming into its own. Ann Wilson's voice is one of the best rock voices of all-time. what is most amazing is that she still has it! I grew up when Heart and then Joan Jett were played on the radio and have never seen them in concert so when this came up in Hinckley, I went for it. We were very fortunate to have perfect weather for the show as there would have been no protection from the elements. Joan Jett was entertaining and many of the songs came back to my aging memory bank. Heart put on a solid performance although Ann had to strain a bit to hit some of the high notes, but what do you expect after 40 some years of belting it out. They did an encore of three Led Zeppelin songs which was great but I thought it odd that they would end their show with that. They should have placed those songs in the middle of their set and then rocked off into the night with their classic tunes. It was an overall enjoyable evening.

re:HEART May 20, 2016 7:30pm Genesee Theatre, Waukegan, IL ~~ Speaking from the point of view as being a professional soundman and recording engineer, and theatrical sound designer with 30 yrs of experience who has toured with many bands, musicians and artists of every genre - the show was good - but the sound was awful - IT GOT TO THE POINT THAT I HAD TO WEAR FOAM EARPLUGS THROUGH THE ENTIRE SHOW BECAUSE THE SOUND WAS SO HARSH - EPSECIALLY THE DRUMSET's CRASHING CYMBALS !!! --but I have to also admit that the sound was also very bad mostly because the soundman was mixing from the very back of the theatre at the very back behind the last row of seats underneath a very long balcony overhang where he couldnt hear the direct sound of the speaker hang that was hanging higher than the balcony level !!! - so he had no reference as to what the sound sounded like from the house's god awful mix position - which was the worst i've ever seen or heard - the mix position for this theatre should be in the balcony area where the soundman can actually hear something -- I always try to get seats in the balcony near the front - but anywhere in the balcony in this venue would have been better than anywhere on the main floor - the mix position shoudl be in the balcony - behind the mezzanine. Over all the sound was dry , sterile, harsh & brittle, the cymbals were way too much - and the bass subwoofers though they were on the very top of the hang the low freqs.did not penetrate to the back of the theatre - the low frequencies dropped off sharply from the loge/ front of the balcony back and were almost non existent at the back of the mezzanine and/or up in the upper parts of the balcony -- so as one proceeded towards the back of the balcony there was insufficient low end compared to the front of the balcony .. lastly everything was mixed flat, stark, sterile & dry on an all digital mix system - so when the ladies of HEART played their acoustic instruments during the most intimate part of the concert it made me cringe because the sound was at its worse - my acoustic guitar in my living room sounds better than what theirs did on stage !!! -- in the olden days of true R n R we used audio enhancement effects subtly to SWEETEN the sound in order to make the sound performance sound more like a recording studio recording - these days with the advent of techy soundmen going to schools to learn the craft, who use all digital boards, who have never mixed on all analog systems, dont know the value of using processing gear [or now plug ins], to enhance the performance of a concert in order to make it sound as good as a studio recording, which we used to do in the 70s 80s & 90s on our concert tours all the time !!! .. to that end I have to say -- that most old school soundmen could have mixed this show and made it sound 10 - 20 times better -- but the one caveat that would have really helped was not to tuck the very young / green / soundman in a back corner all the way back under the balcony where he couldnt hear the sound system itself -- so I will give a bit a grace to him because of that -- because this is the chosen mix position chosen by the theatre management itself not by the touring sound co. -- and i have talked to the people at this theatre about this problem many times on numerous occasions - but my words falls on deaf ears because management doesnt know any thing about producing good sound and most of the time they dont care - especially from an outsider .. so Ticketmaster maybe you can have some influence on turning things around - as its a crime against the performers, & against the concert goers paying $100 to $385 for a ticket to see someone like HEART and also a crime to resurrect and spend $10s of millions to rehab a 100+ yr old theatre only to have the sound be totally inadequate and sound like crap at almost every show because of where the mix position is -- in short the show was good but the sound quality was a HUGE, MAJOR disappointment -- JMHO -- W.W

Heart never disappoints! These girls are awesome! I've been enjoying Heart for an incredibly long time and they take me to places in my life with their amazing songs. Some artist feel that they need to change up their songs to keep them fresh. I am so happy that Heart hasn't felt the need to do this. Their songs are all so amazing that there is no need to change! Keep being Heart! Your fans love you and always will!!

This band can rock it, the Wilson sisters are amazing. Ann's voice is as strong as ever . .. impressive! The House of Blues small venue brought you up close and allowed the group to reach out and really touch you. I love, love, loved it. The whole show took me away, I wanted more. It's hard to find this quality of entertainment at this price, get off the fence and buy those tickets, you can thank me later.

First time I heard Heart was in the 70s while stationed overseas in Panama. Really liked their music, the beat, the vocals. Still playing all the songs from the groups of the 70s, 80s. Harrah's has a very nice venue with decent seating, good viewing screens, acoustics, services inside the area. Listening to them sing I could close my eyes and be back to when I first heard them. Only issue I have is why they would waste concert time singing songs from other groups. I didn't pay for this, I paid to hear Heart sing their songs. Did not sing all their best ones, wasted time on others. Has Heart lost their way?

Bluesville offered a smaller more intimate venue for HEART, which was awesome. The girls were so accommodating & gracious during the "Meet & Greet" . We were allowed to tour the stage & pose with Nancy's guitars. There is no voice more clear, bold & captivating than Ann Wilson. Props to HEART for making this night unforgettable!

These Gals still have it! The members in the band are 100 % professional. The Orchestra was Amazing! I have seen Heart many times back in the day when we were all much younger. They use to come to my home town of Johnson City TN. at that time and today as well they seem to lead the industry with there technology. Even though the band is a different group from in the day they still hit it note for note! Lady's I hope you see this and come back to Johnson City so I don't have to travel across the greater 48 to see you again;)

Ann and Nancy were great but voices often drowned out by bad mix. Drums and keyboards were way to high on many songs making it difficult to hear vocals. When they drown out Ann you know it is bad mix.

They were the only band but that's OK, I love Heart. I don't remember exactly remember when they took the stage but they were late maybe 10-15 minutes but its all good. I would have love hearing a few more extra songs but it was enjoyable.

The show was excellent except trying to find somewhere to park. Joan Jett was great and Heart tore the roof off with their music as always. Hope they come back next year or even better to the convention center in Springfield, Illinois. We don't get any rock concerts except the fair.

Great concert. They were terrific.. Not a big fan of the venue... It was like a huge high school auditorium.... As soon as the lights went down I went up to the stage to get a few pictures. They had an area with no chairs ect. on the sides of the stage with no security and ;a small metal fence along the front but the sides were open. I was 5 feet from the stage and stood there for the whole concert. It was 15 deep behind me but security didn't care. I had the best seats in the house.. My friends who were in section 103 had to look at the huge video screen they had they couldn't see the stage... The Wilson sisters are amazing they are 60-64 yo and still rock the house!!

First I loved their music then I realized I fell right between Ann and Nancy in age and felt empowered to keep doing great things, then I loved them for their talent and their consistent ability to be amazing performers. Watching them on May 19 brought tears to my eyes as I heard the powerful voices still strong and clear and their energy still as high as when they were in their 20s. The concert is well worth seeing and experiencing. The band supporting Ann and Nancy was great. From the drums to the guitars and keyboard, everyone was in sync and balanced.

I wish I could award 5 stars to the opening act, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. The sound and performance were amazing, which is what made Heart's portion of the concert so disappointing! I have attended hundreds of concerts over the last 38 years and without doubt, the sound mix for Heart was the worst I've heard. The volume level of the PA was cranked to levels of ear-shattering distortion and the vocals were buried in a mountain of feedback, overpowering drums and bass. We had a VERY difficult time discerning what song was being played and for the first time, I left a concert before the end. If fact, we only stayed for four songs. I blame the person operating the soundboard for turning what may have been a very enjoyable, well-played performance into something unlistenable.

Joan Jett warmed up the crowed with songs from The Runaways to new music that just came out in 2014. Heart came on and rocked the stage. Ann looked great and seemed to have more confidence then ever on stage! I just seen Heart 7/1/14 so their was a different energy this time :). Seats were perfect could see the acts perfectly.

Ann Wilson still has the pipes! And she looks healthier than she has lately, if that helps in any way. I was kind of surprised they did only Zeppelin during the encore, but were worthy covers, especially Misty Mountain Hop. Nancy seemed almost shy when she did her two main songs.

This was one of the best concerts I've ever seen, and I've seen MANY concerts before. The show was full of mostly hits. Ann Wilson's vocals are incredible and she sounds better than ever. 40 years of rocking have made this band incredible and they seem at the top of their game. Nancy can shred the guitar. The chatter between songs is minimum and I left the show feeling exhausted (something I enjoy from a good show). I would have liked more songs, but I can imagine it's hard to pare down from their vast catalog. I would highly recommend this concert!

I've been to many great concerts; Stones, Rush, AC/DC, Eagles, Aerosmith, Tom Petty, and so on, but going to see Heart for the first time this past summer in Detroit was a life-changing experience. They were AMAZING. There really are no words to describe how incredible they were. Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience opened for them and I was really impressed - very authentic sounding and it really got the crowd going. One of the best parts was how quickly the Wilson sisters came on after the opening band - I have been to concerts where it feels like you're waiting forever, the energy dies down, and you start to get antsy...not Heart. After JBLDE finished, my sister was taking a picture of me holding a sign I made (that said "Your #1 is Right Here", with an arrow pointing to me, no less), and all of the sudden, the opening riff of Barracuda rang out and it was like I won the lottery. I had been waiting to see them for years, and not only did I get to experience a life-long dream, but it was beyond my expectations (which were high). Their encore was a beautiful, powerful, amazing Led Zeppelin medley. I am 28-years-old and I just wish I had a friend who loved and appreciated Heart as much as I do, so that I could travel to see them (rather than convince a local friend to go as a favor to me:)).

Ann and Nancy both sounded as good as ever. Never thought they'd be this good. Surprised that they went with a little known Elton John song that Nancy played with what appeared to be a mandolin and sang solo instead of Never, but it was a unique show. The very short finale included a Led Zeppelin song and sounded great. They played for a little more than an hour and a half. I think the cold was getting to Ann though and that's why the shorter finale.

This concert was full circle for me. I first saw Heart as the warm-up band for Loggins and Messina on their farewell tour, in the exact same venue! San Diego State Amphitheater remains one of my favorite places for concerts, and the sound was superb this time as well. The addition of Jason Bonham's band as warm-up act, and Jason joining Heart for an extended all-Zepplin encore was superb. Heart's catalog includes several decades' worth of hits, and they played many of them to keep the crowd going throughout the show.
