Just simply a fantastic evening. Ricky was not feeling to good, but came out and performed flawlessly! I would recommend that he change his background from those glaring stars, or turn them down a bit. Was difficult at times looking at him, yet glaring stars behind him, almost blinding. Great event though, loved it!!

And I love it! I thought he was amazing. It was as if with a cute little smirk, he was trying to offend me. It didn't work. I laughed till i choked. It was such a memorable evening. I love Ricky and I can't wait to see him again. The venue was amazing too. It was fairly large but intimate at the same time!

Ricky Gervais is a comedic genius! The theater was intimate, and Gervais was at his best. Covered a wide range of topics and all were wonderful. At one point he was interrupted by an extremely rude, drunk audience member, and he gracefully worked the encounter into a joke, then continued on with his set. Definitely a diverse performance that kept the audience laughing!

It's clear he's trying out new material at this point. Some of it was very good (e.g., the Noah book), but there are also some stinkers.

Just ok. Obviously testing material for Madison Square Garden. Did about an hour of material. Kind of short set. Better off waiting for his real shows instead of the warm ups. Also, the seats at the Kaye Theater are TINY.

What a great show! I laughed from the first joke to the last. I knew he was funny but I had no idea he was this funny. His humor is a bit "sick" as he himself describes it, but if you are a fan of bold irreverent comedy this is the show for you!

We were really disappointed in the Ricky Gervais show. He is a very talented comedian, however, most of his material for this show was not funny. "Jokes" about kids undergoing chemo and a many references to dying weren't what we were looking for. So many other worthy subjects. A few funny moments when he did veer to other subjects, but overall underwhelming. Others in our group felt similarly.

Ricky Gervais was, as always, funny, edgy , smart and thought provoking. If he wasnt making you squirm at times, he wouldn't be doing his job. So true, so funny, so politically incorrect. Gotta love Ricky!

My husband and I love Ricky Gervais or we thought we did. We found last week's show incredibly disappointing. Unnecessarily filthy, the pieces went on for way too long, and the Masonic was SO hot and stuffy. If Jerry Seinfeld can do an absolutely hilarious 90 minute show without resorting to the F word or the C word, why can't Ricky?

Thoroughly entertaining , even the first comedian was great. Ricky Gervais did about 1.5 hours or more of stand up - loved his stories about his family. The Masonic is a great place to see a show. Parking is a little pricey but very convenient and the food available is very good and reasonable if you arrive with only 20-30 mins to spare before the show.

I ve always enjoyed Ricky Gervais comedy and find his hard hitting/slightly cringe but yet insightful jokes very funny, this show was no different. Despite being ill and having the occasional cough he delivered a wonderful show with a mix of dark and light humor. I would watch this show over and over again and enjoy it just the same. Top class venue, top class comedian and a top class experience!

Ricky Gervais hasn't done a stand up show in 7 years... and all I can say is that it was worth waiting for... I laughed from start to finish. His brilliance, irreverence and masterful weaving of seamless stories is nothing short of genius. And very, very, very funny. And let me just mention his integrity - he was sick, and kept spraying his throat and drinking (who knows what) just to get thru the performance. Periodically he'd say, "I never cancel a show!" For those of us in the audience, we can only be grateful for his commitment to us. It was a perfect evening. Don't miss it!!!

Ranging in topics from Ms. Jenner to his own mother's funeral, breeding vs. adoption and the joys of trolling twitter trolls, Ricky Gervais delivered nearly an hour and a half of prime comedy for 2017. Often too smart for his own good, Ricky's audience was with him every step of the way and while his subversive comedy can sometimes be called "offensive" by the uneducated, unwashed and humorless, the venue continually erupted with laughter.

I find Ricky to be funny on The Office, Golden Globes and Facebook. He is in his element. However, his show was such a snooze fest. Makes me sad to say this but as much as I do enjoy insult comedy, I barely laughed at any of his jokes compared to other comedians I ve seen. I wouldn t see his stand up again. I m still a fan though.

That is why I thought this show had some really brilliant bits, some funny bits, and some humorous bits. Nothing really unsatisfying but, personally, I thought the OUT OF ENGLAND tour was funnier and had stronger material. Again, humor is subjective. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed it and Ricky is WELL WORTH seeing. Plus really, are you going to base whether you go or not on my little review?! Probably not. You're either a fan or not. Can't see many people on the fence here.

Ricky Gervais is simply superb. I've been a big fan since the first Office and love the podcasts and audiobooks more than one can imagine. My review is for Ricky alone. I would pay to see him mow his lawn. Only one problem with this truly excellent show. I bought tickets, honestly, about 45 seconds after they went on sale back when and had relatively terrible seats (right most row on the floor as you face the stage, three rows from the back).

While his humour isn't for the faint of heart, Ricky Gervais has a boyish charm coupled with a sharp wit that somehow manages to turn the most vulgar observations into non-offending comedy. I don't know how he does it! I laughed for the entire show. And now I can't get enough of him. If he ever comes back to tour the states, his show is a must-see!!

My wife and I had high hopes for fellow Brit Ricky Gervais but were let down on all accounts. Ricky went for shock factor at the expense of humour , the act did have its comedic moments but they were few and far between so the act lacked continuity. The show was being filmed for HBO and of the 75 mins he was on stage they may be able to make a 30 min episode from it!!!

Love this guy's persona, talent and his humor but not much of any of it was on display at Chicago Theatre Friday night. Closed both his hour 'set' and his encore with really vulgar, gross, sick jokes just to prove you can joke about anything. Yes you can, but the jokes should either rupture conventional reality or be really funny. Not the case here. Seemed like he cobbled second rate stuff together to get another HBO special. Nothing special about it and he dimished his status and aura in our household.

Backup comedian was hysterical -- Joe Barry? I think Ricky Gervais is extremely witty and a very likeable person. I was just tired of the constant gay references throughout the night. While so many things he did were brilliant (story of Noah), I kept wishing he would go on to other topics aside from sexual preferences and such a strong push for acceptance by others. It has never been an issue for me since I have always been pro choice. I guess that's why it was tiring. I'm someone who just likes to get out of the house and hear various things from different perspectives from a comedian, not just one topic.

I was very disappointed to hear Ricky trot out the same material he's been doing in the UK for the last 18 months. Swap some comments about Amanda Holden's lack of talent for a short piece on the volcanic ash cloud, and you pretty much have his stand-up from the Edinburgh festival of 2 years ago. Maybe it was because he was filming a 'one-off special for HBO' that made me think it would be newer material, but there was nothing one-off or special about this performance.

He was so well prepared and funny. Loved the performance. Loved his bit on the overweight people and his childhood Noah book.

Overall an amazing night. Ricky had me laughing for the entire show. Love the British humour - No topic is left untouched. Would definitely go again!!

Opening act, good, actually better than I expected. Video between opening act and Gervais was just crude, not at all funny. Gervias is funny, has a great delivery. Not sure why he spent so much time on homosexuality, pedophila, etc... he's better than that.
