Every March since 1992, The Allman Brothers Band have reigned supreme at the Beacon Theater. I have sat in every section. Floor, 1st balcony and upper level. Never a bad seat in the house. This particular show on 3/15/14 was a disappointment to me. Late: Show did not start till AFTER 8:30! Sound-wise: Everything was "muffled". (I was in upper level, for this show) Performance: Playing seemed labored (except for Oteil). Derek was not taking as many solos and the trade-offs between him and Warren, were almost non-existent.

The brothers never disappoint.... The first set was a collection of hits, not much jamming, and a LOT of Gregg singing. I counted 13 songs sung by him, which is more than usual. The second set was a real treat with a beatles cover (Rain), a classic Dreams with Warren kicking ass and taking names, a Jessica rendition I won't soon forget, and a classic Whipping Post encore that left us wanting more.

I've been attending Beacon runs since they began in 1989, half my life. When i heard that the Brothers current line-up would be breaking up, besides being upset at the fact that propbably the 2 greatest living guitarists, which I had in one spot(!) would no longer be on stage with one of my favorite bands, I was worried that they might mail it in knowing that it was the end...... Well it couldnt have been farther from the truth!!! They were the same tight band, putting on the 3 hour shows I was used to. Greggs voice was in shape and the band sounded as good as they did in 1989 when I first heard them.

Harrah's is a great venue for concerts, the sound is good and anywhere you sit it great In these economic times it is a great deal! Great venue for a great price, I used to go all over for concerts, now I stick closer to home. There is great parking up close, great food at good prices, and a concert that you can afford to go to, you cant beat that. I have been to about 7 to 8 concerts at Harrah's and have had a great time at everyone, the best thing is that Harrah' s has made a place that has something for everyone. Thanks Harrah's for the music

This concert was very uncomfortable. With a rhythem section packed with too many players including three drummers, the music was sloopy and busy. There was no show to speak of. They just stood around and played one song after the other and only spoke to the audience once. After the sun went down, I sat freezing in the darkness with the heavy din of the band and the smell of pot all aroun me. I left early.

The Doobie Brothers were great - got the crowd warmed up for the anticipated Allman Brothers. Unfortunately, the evening was cold outside and the AB took a really long time in between to set up (almost 45 minutes) - making the crowd restless. Then, when they finally came on, we stayed in the cold for about 45 minutes waiting for them to play something we had heard before - they played only new material. Most people were getting up and leaving after only about 5-6 songs, we stayed longer and finally left after about 10 songs we had never heard before. I have seen the Allman Brothers before, and in the past they were great.

As an avid concert goer for 38 years it is hard to impress me. This show was probably one of the top three shows I've ever been to in my life. Classic Southern Blues rock with a contemporary twist. The ultimate blues rock fan experience. Don't miss the ABB if they are in your area.

The Allman Brothers at the newly renovated Fox Theatre in Oakland, CA was a great show. If you like the Allmans, you could not ask for a better indoor venue than the Fox. Every piece of this theatre is hand carved or decorated in some unique way. The sound is good too.

I love the Fox Theater in Oakland, and I love the Allman Brothers. I've seen them many times already, and have always been really excited by their soulful music. After this concert, however, both my husband and I agreed the long, rambling sets sounded more like the Grateful Dead than the Allman Brothers. After a while, sorry to say, I got bored with everything sounding so much the same.

It had been far too long since the Allman Brothers Band rocked the West Coast and their return was made even more incredible by choosing the Fox in Oakland to stage 2 "Evenings With" shows. The Fox is the most beautiful theater I have ever seen with a friendly staff and amazing sound. Both nights were vintage Allman Brothers shows with the incredible combination of dueling guitars, the vocals of Gregg and Warren and the best rythym section on the planet. The first night featured an amazing Black hearted Woman into a full version of Mountain Jam, Jessica, an acoustic Melissa, Trouble No more and a One Way Out encore. The second night the Allman's came out smokin' from the opening notes of Done Somebody Wrong and continued with a classic Midnight rider, You Don't love Me, Come and Go Blues, a sweet Good Morning Little School Girl featuring Warren on vocals, ending the first set with Whipping Post left us all buzzing durring the break. They opened the 2nd set with Revival and an amazing cover of The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down with Gregg on vocals, a memorable In Memory of Elizabeth Reed that featured a drum solo that had Butch Trucks out on the front of the stage playing a large bass drum and included Jaimoe, Marc and Orteil on drums! The only tune that was played both nights was Dreams which featured Warren's guitar opening night and Derek the second night. Each version had a different feel and were incredible!

We saw the Allman Brothers Band at the Fox Theater in Oakland this past May, and while it was a good show, it didn't rock like I'd expected. Also, the Southern Twang that the Allman Brothers are so known for was wholly missing, which was a major disappointment. I felt like I could have been at any decent blues show, which is ok-I like the blues, but I expect southern blues from the ABB, and was bummed that it was missing from the show. I think they need to bring back Dickey Betts to get the sound they are known for back.

I went to both the May 12 and May 13 shows at the Fox. Both were pretty amazing with only the song Dreams repeated, and even that was performed differently each night. The was very much into the performance themselves after all these years. Derek Trucks stood out for his great slide guitar playing. The wonderful Fox Theater with its great sound and sight lines added to the enjoyment.

The Fox Theater is truly a great venue - and I know venues. I'd guess that with the Fox's sound system most any performer is going to sound top notch. The Allman's were no exception. I should mention that just prior to these ABB shows, I saw The Dead at Shoreline and the sound (unless you get right up front) is HORRIBLE! Although I had a great time dancing with all my friends at the way top, I could barely hear the music. Soooo, with that show fresh in my head, the Fox, standing front stage right, with speakers teetering above my head, Gregg and Warren spitting distance from me, how could I go wrong? I LOVE Warren in whatever he does, be it Mule, Dead, solo, Allmans - anything he touches turns to gold. He shined these nights at the Fox. Derek is so gifted, although he held back (possibly out of respect for Warren?) and Gregg looked and sounded damn good. My only disappointment was that there was no special guests. ..at least that joined them on stage. Also, kudos to their fans, who surprised the hell out of me and were as a whole a great bunch of people.

This was the second night at the Fox Oakland..It has been along time since the ABB rocked the Bay Area, maybe the first time this decade...This almost 3 hour show included some great guitar riffs from Warren and Derek..They covered a few great songs of their own and some Stevie Ray Vaughn..The first set ended with a blaring 15 minurte Whipping Post..The second set had a four drummer jam,an elongated E Reed and stiffling encore...Don't ever miss the brothers when they come a callin to your town..This new venue is really something..Great sound and festival atmostphere since they removed all the seats downstairs....Just a great evening had by all at this sold ouit show...

The Allman Brothers still have it, after all these years, thanks in large part to the outstanding guitar playing of Warren Haynes and Derrick Trux. The music was tight, even during the jam sessions. Greg seemed a bit frail, which is understandable, given what he has been through. It would have been nice if they could have at least said something to the audience between songs.

I went to see the Allman Bros in Oakland, expecting to hear lots of the good southern rock that the band is know for, but was blown away by the fantastic guitar work by both Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks. Those two have got to be among the best set of two guitar players to ever play in the same band. Luckily, Gregg Allman wisely lets the two guitarists display their abilities with lots of good solos and jams. I was particularily impressed with Warren Haynes. I had heard of him, and seen him join with Dave Matthews for a couple of songs, but listening to him for a full concert created another fan for him. I'm going to go see his band, Government Mule, when they play in the area later this year. Gregg Allman's distinctive voice was strong and he held the group together and reminded the lucky audience of the band's roots and filled out the excellent concert.

Thing is my the Music 101 quorum: groove is the hightest point of any summertime. You can groove just by being on the lawn. Although the music was as good as I expected, it to be. the Allman Brothers just went throuh their reputoir and were not interacting with the crowd at all. Maybe they were more concerned with the recorded cd that they were selling after the show (tackiy!). I saw Greg Alman solo and thought he was a lot more personable and was there to have a good performance.

The Allman Brothers Band continues to stun their audiences with an amazing blend of rock, blues, and jazz. Every member of this band has mastered their instruments. This band has been together for 40 years with 3 original members. The newest member to join is an amazing slide guitarist, Derek Trucks, who fills in the slot of the late great Duane Allman. Derek brings a musical intensity , and diversity that I have found to be unmatched. Otiel on bass... I grew up listening to such bassists as Jaco, Stanley Clarke, Ron Carter to Mingus, Otiel has a style and musical sense that rivals all the greats. The rhythm section consists of two original member of the band Butch Trucks, (Dereks Uncle) and Jaimo, and later added a percussionist Mark Quinones together form the driving force behind this great band. Gregs Vocals and tasty chops on the B-3 organ are umistakable and seem to pull the entire band together and orchestrate some of the most magical moments of live music I have ever experienced. Rounding out this crew is one of the most amazing and versital guitarist / vocalist to come from the south. Warren Haynes is one of the most solid players weather it be with the Dead, Govt mule, Solo acoustic acts, with the Allman Brothers, or any of the many other projects he takes on. These guys are not "entertainers". They are serious musicians that speak the language in a way not many can. After 40 years ( I grew up on these guys from their first album on thru their entire career) this band still amazes me. Thanks ABB for coming back to the west coast. It was an unforgetable evening.

In between Dead shows, The Allman's played Oakland's restored venue and slayed the house. Those old songs never sounded fresher with the life that Warren and Derek inject to the show. Greg's voice still soulfull and vibrant. The jams took the audience to the edge and back seamlessly.

The Allman Brothers Band soared right back to the perfect note of the 70's in sound and style. Seeing them for the first time in 1970 and then again in Atlanta in Sept. 2013 all I had to do was close my eyes and relive the past. Their set selection was a strong balance of old classic and the current riffs. Opened by Grace Potter and the Nocturnails to set the mood made for an awesome combo. This little band packs a bunch delivered by Grace. From the opening note to the close of the finial ABB encore this was a solid event.

Being able to hear Steve Winwood do those old great songs from Blind Faith and The Spencer Davis Group was awesome. The other songs were great too. But the highlight of the night was definately the Brothers. Greg sounded awesome, Warren's vocals and guitar playing was top notch like always, Otiel's bass solo rocked and Derek shredded his solos all night long, he even busted a guitar string during one of them. I have been chasing the song Whipping post for the last few years and I finally got one for the encore. It made my night and I can die happy and sastified. Thanks so much for a phenomenal show.

Got to the Beacon early, 1st 2000 people were to get Gregg's autobiography. Was maybe the 20th person through the door. Left without a book! A little disappointed being we made sure we were there to receive one!! Our seats were great, until we sat down to having our view obstructed from the lighting and poles holding it. See attached photo... Saw them with Santana at the PNC in Holmdel last summer and they were awesome, the sound here was a bit muddled. All in all I really enjoyed them even though the 7pm show started around 7:40 and there wasn't an opener. Will definitely see them again, but outside (or at the Beacon I'd have to have seats in the loge).

The Peach Fest is probably one of the better festivals Ive been to in a while. The smaller amount of people didnt take away from anything, it made it better. Having access to the water park was a great idea! You could swim in the wave pool and watch a band. The only real gripe I would have is the alcohol prices. There wasnt a beer under $9! My suggestion would be to bring your own and try to sneak it into the concert. Other than that I cant wait for next year!

No better way to spend a steamy summer evening than being part of this concert featuring 2 consummate professional classic bands! Santana's smooth guitar, friendly demeanor, awesome lead singers and band members were all on their game and seemed happy to be there. The music was flawless. We were pleasantly surprised at how many songs Gregg Allman sang and he couldn't have sounded better. These guys are so talented they could easily just "dial it in" but there was none of that! They opened with the rocking One Way Out from Eat a Peach and cruised through many of their hits ending with Whipping Post. Fans of all ages were on their feet all night feeling the joy. What can you say about Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks? Two of the all time best guitarists in the world! Derek was so intense, he broke several guitar strings during the course of the show. Appreciated numerous concession stands almost eliminating lines and the extra ladies rooms--no waiting and no missing the concert.

When I saw that two of my favorite bands were playing the beach together, this was a must see show. Santana put on an amazing set!! Carlos, at 65 years old is just as sharp as he was 35 years ago when he played at my college upstate (SUNY Brockport)!! His band of musicians and singers, some of which have been with him for many years rocked the house!! The Allman Bros played an amazing set as well. Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks are like a well-oiled guitar playing machine!! But when Carlos joined them on stage to play Mountain Jam, it was off the hook!! What made the show one of the best I've ever seen was where I sat (or stood). I had a floor seat that enabled me to stand at the stage to watch the whole show - only a seat on the stage could have topped that!! I would love to see this pairing again - hopefully the reviews will entice the bands to tour again next summer. You can bet I'll be there and will pay the extra $$ to sit in the front row if I can score the seat!!

I was in guitar heaven in a magical setting. Under a star-lit summer night overlooking the ocean, there is no better setting for a concert. Carlos Santana, who never disappoints, pulled out all the stops with his unique approach taking us into the statosphere. My friend and I have seen Santana more than a dozen times together. It's our summer ritual whenever he's in town. We dance the night away like young, free-spirited teenagers and laugh and hug each other because we're so happy. My friend left early and I snuck down to the lower section (thank you to the guard "who looked the other way"). I sunk into my new seat and looked up at the stage as The Allman's began playing In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. I am getting goosebumps as I type this because it's been a long time that I've heard such perfect guitar, thanks to front man Derek Trucks, who was on his game like most guitar players only dream of. Immensely talented and completely focused, his guitar is like an extension of his hands. Thank you all for an incredible musical experience that took this mature woman back to her high school years and to the backyard in East Islip to those "Allman Brothers" parties. I'll never forget them. And I'll never forget this night.

First time that the Allman Brothers Band and Carlos Santana have toured, which seems remarkable since they've both been around 40 + years! Santana played a very tight two hour show which featured quite a few older tunes (black magic woman, ain't got nobody to depend on, oya como va, evil ways etc.) and bunch of tunes from Shaman and Super Natural. As always his band was super tight and the mix at Jones Beach Theater was excellent! The Allman's came on after a forty five minute stage change. Unfortunately Gregg has lost his range and the mix on his vocals made sure that they were not prominently displayed. Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks could give Dickey Betts and Duane Allman a run for their money! They are that good! The highlight of the evening for me was Carlos Santana joining the Brothers for a great rendition of Mountain Jam! It smoked! The brothers played an amazing set which included opening with One Way Out, Statesboro Blues,In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, and an encore of a 30 minutes version of Whipping Post which brought back memories of Filmore East. They sounded fabulous even with Gregg struggling to keep up vocally! If your a classic rock fan don't miss this tour, you'll see old school rockers showing you how its supposed to be done!

I know I can't expect things 2 b the good ol' day's. But a band that has been around so long should be able to put together a playlist that has some continuity and consistancy. There was no flow no excitement---didn't seem to be any thought in the order of or the tunes that should be played to make it an interesting or entertaining show. I'm paying to see The Allman Bros. not the Warren Haynes Derrick Trucks Band. What was Gregg there for show ? He barely sang three song before the Dementia sank in.They threw Dickie Betts out of the band for drinking meanwhile they can get off with this mediocre perfomance because they are playing in front of some drunk geriactrics.Look--- they are great musicians----but put on a show..!

The Allman Bros. were excellent the 3 Jaimoe, Trucks and Quionnes killed it on drums with an oustanding base line by Burbridge and Derek and Warren did their thing while Gregg's voice and keyboards nailed it! The horns brought lots of depth to every song they played.

Ticket prices are no longer worth seeing the Allman Brothers. Especially when the best seat in the house (I had Row A, Seat 18 in the lower balcony) is no fun to be at. It was a morgue up there. Not one person standing or getting down to see the Allman Brothers. BORING. After 15 years or so of seeing the Allman's at the Beacon, I can honestly say that it is the last time I do it - especially at those eye gouging prices. Better bands out there for a lot less in a much more fun environment.

It took them practically most of the evening to warm up and play cohesively as the Allman Brothers. Most of the songs were lackluster, especially during the first set. I was upset that many of the songs were not even Allman Brothers material. Toward the end of the second set, they got their groove on and the finale was the best tune of all! I told my husband that this is the last Allman concert I will attend.

I knew I was in for a good time and ended up having one unforgettable evening. Got home from the show and immediately purchased tickets for another show. Purchased a CD of the evenings performance on my way out of the Beacon and played the whole thing over twice when I got home. Nearly 48 hours later and am still pumped up about the show.

My husband and I saw the last show of a 4 night run of the ABB at the Orpheum Theater. My husband is the true ABB fan, so I can't speak intelligently to the music, as after awhile, the songs all sound the same to me (I'm not a huge fan of the long instrumental jams; prefer hearing singing). The band sounded great though. I was disappointed that Gregg didn't sing much at all. When he did sing, we couldn't hear him at all - I think that was due more to the venue though and the extremely rowdy people around us shouting the lyrics to every song (annoying!). Overall, it was a great show - they played for 2.5 hours. They did some great covers - Van Morrison, Hendrix, John Lennon. And they encored with Whipping Post. My major complaint is the venue itself - the Orpheum is in awful shape!! I don't understand why they haven't done anything to upgrade the venue in years. I remember seeing James Taylor there 18 years ago and it looks the same today. The seats are too close together and extremely uncomfortable, the plaster is peeling from the ceiling. Seems to me, they should be able to invest some of this money from concerts into refurbishing the place. We were in the 2nd to law row of the floor and had a hard time seeing well with the overhang of the balcony, but also had to stand the entire time in order to see because everyone was standing. Extremely uncomfortable evening, but great music.

My girlfriend called me after a flight on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and told me she had just listened to the Live at the Fillmore East album on her iPod and said "we must see the Allman Brothers" and told me to "find out where they're were playing and lets' go". She had never seen them before so I checked their web site and found they were playing that Friday night at the Tower Theatre. We managed to find a pair of really good seats online. We checked the flights out of Chicago (where we live) and flew out Friday afternoon for the show Friday night. I've seen the Allman Brothers several times since first seeing them in 1973. I don't follow them around or anything but have tried to stay up to date with them. I have to say that this show was one of the absolute best Allman Bros shows I'd ever seen. Greg sounded good. The band was locked in and Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks were just blazing on guitars. Some of the best dual guitar work since Duane & Dickey. The Tower Theatre is pretty conveniently located at the 69th Street Transportation Center in Upper Darby, PA. We took the 108 bus from the airport and made it in less than an hour. No driving, no gas, no parking - easy. A great place to see a show. I'd recommend it (if you don't mind your theaters old and a little run down). If you like The Allman Brothers and get the chance, you must go see them. I think they're playing at the top of their game (again).

I was hoping this show would be a lot of their older music, but it was very little of that. It was mostly music I had never heard before and it was long and loud. They played long sets and at times it seemed like the two guitarists (who were very good by the way) were trying to out-do the other one for loudness. It could have been much better in my opinion if the music were more familiar, the sets were shorter and it wasn't so loud. We actually left before the show was over, because I had had enough.

I saw several shows this visit and sat front row on the 14th and that was incredible to be that close and be able to talk to the band. Jaimo and Butch kept the percussion on que while Warren and Derek did what they do best extreme guitar licks while having a lot of fun and Greg looked very healthy and happy. Bernie Williams was awesome and Butch Trucks gave his sticks to the woman next to me but the 24th the set list was incredible the energy of the crowd was incredible and Leslie West added that little extra that always makes the Allmans at the Beacon one of the most memorable shows you can see and I have been going to see the Allmans Bros since 73 and at the Beacon since 97

Great show, as expected. Being St. Patrick's day, lotsa green in the crowd making me think many were earlier parade attendees. Last year's Palace gig was good, but it was nice being back at The Beacon (as a slide during their first song said "Good To Be Back Home!") There's a sort of familiar coziness to the place. They played a nice mix (see set list below.) There were also a number of guests, including Donald Fagen - keyboards (Steely Dan), Chad Smith drums (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Brad Whitford - guitar (Aerosmith), Leo Nocentelli - guitar (The Meters), Lincoln Schleifer - bass, and Bobby Allende - percussion. Brad and Leo performed some jams that really wailed on a few songs, including the encore "Southbound." However, Derek took leave for that. A few reports that his wife, Susan, summoned him and they left together. Speaking of Derek, it was nice to see him play Duane's LP Gold Top. In my opinion, the only slow point was the percussion solo during "No One To Run With." It was too long, and seemed a bit uninspired and out of sync, at times. They have done much better than that at other shows. Other than that, ABB rocked the house and the crowd left in their usual awed fashion. Looking forward to next year, for sure.

One of the best parts of going to the Beacon run is the anticipation of the set list and guest list. Never know what they will play or who will play with them. This particular evening I would say was heavy on songs from their "Hittin' The Note" album. They sounded great by the way. Big surprise when the brought Donald Fagan (Steely Dan) out for a couple songs. When they broke into "Shakedown Street" the place went crazy!! Just a completely awesome show. Brad Whitford (Aerosmith) and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) also joined the band this evening. Nice treat.

Made the trip from Long Island to the University of Delaware to pick up my daughter then turned back north for the trip to NYC, where we picked up her boyfriend at Penn. From there we made it to the Beacon. Parking was expensive ($55!!!) and security was tight at the theatre, necessitating a drive to the two zero precinct to lock up a particular item that I was not allowed to enter with...But that's another story. But the show was amazing. Not just accomplished musicians, but truly the real deal! My only reason for not giving a fifth star was that I would have preferred a few more of the ABB's more recognizable tunes for my daughter and friend, as they were first timers... We'll be back next March for sure.

This was one of the best shows of the year. Warren Haynes put together a show of fabulous musicians that worked so well together under his expert orchestration skills. Touching moments included Woody's daughter Savannah singing Soul Shine...many wet eyes in the crowd at that time. It was a joy from the moment the show opened with Warren Haynes, Edwin McCain & Kevn Kinney. Great harmonies and wow, I just love Kinney's unique voice. We would have liked to hear some more from him. McCain was GREAT. I have never heard the North Mississippi Duo, but they have a new fan now! What multi-talented bros. Gov't Mule was amazing as usual. Warren was brilliant as usual and all of us Mule heads will miss following Gov't Mulethem as they won't be touring much next year. What was that instrument that Danny Louis was playing? Some kind of trumpet/trombone. i don't know, but he was playing that with one hand, while playing the organ with the other. Excellent musician. Some of the many guests included Gordy Johnson, Jim Loughlin , Vinnie Amico, Chuck Garvey, , Luther Dickinson, Cody Dickinson & Artemis Pyle, A highlight was the harp playing Hook Herrera. A beautiful specimen of a man that can really play. The Allman brothers were great. Shots of Woody were flashed behind as they played and you almost felt that he was watching over everyone and smiling. The final encore was another touching moment as the whole Roseland Ballroom joined along with the band singing "Wish You Were Here" Another get the tissues out moment for me. I hope they raised a lot of money. It was well worth the bucks for me and I can't wait to get the CD of the event.

The concert by the Allman Brothers capped a very long, tiring, and unforgettable day. Their energetic two sets brought me back to life when my body just wanted to rest. My daughter is named after the instrumental "Jessica" (a disappointment was that it was not included in the show). Loved the addition of the guest sax player. The Brothers tore up that section of Washington Heights, NYC! Among the many classics they ripped through a pile driving version of Wasted Words. Both Warren & my fave Derek cut thru the chuggin' rhythm like hot buzz saws. Then they brought on Randall Bramwood followed by an unknown black blues guitarist (not Buddy Guy or Robert Cray). It was all just really good!

If I could get tickets to see the show again while they are in NY I would in a heart beat!!! It was my first Allman Brother's concert and it won't be my last! The quality of the sound was fantastic. The stage was tastefully set up and the lighting effects and visual effects with the addition of live moving camera shots within the video was superb. The band jammed like nobodies business and the selection of songs was tops! The group sounded incredible. I was so looking forward to seeing them and I never doubted having a great time. well now, lots to hear about this years shows, really hesitant being that is is not a Beacon -Run event, but ... brothers are brothers and a brother is a brother in any venue. the brothers started slow on monday night ans i was not into the sound on the first two, but that quickly changed and i think the engineers got the venue sounding better and started to cook cook cook, the brothers played a slow-heroin-like-improv set of tasty music most of the songs were re-arranged and therefore fresh, and cockily done and sung by the genius Haynes, personally i was on Allmans side of the stage, and thought Trucks guitar riffs did not shine thru behind the rest of the band but that was not do to his playing but a sound level issue that I personally would have done different, but nextime i will have a more centrally located seat, this show proved to be the best show i was at to date and that is saying something about these guys, OH !, and the drum solo was hot too, that was a big surprise.

The 3.15.2010 ABB show at the UP was awesome! The theater was bigger than I expected and our seats were farther back than I thought they'd be. However, I guess because the show didn't sell out, they let us move up to the upper loges. We had a great view. The sound was decent, it was my first ABB show, so I can't comment too much, it sounded great to me, but sometimes I thought it was muddy as well. They played for 3+ hours, with an intermission between. The beer was expensive! $7 a pop for the Checkered Cab ale, but its a decent beer.

The boys play so well together they could be called The Allman Octuplets. Their blend of southern influenced blues and rock can't be touched or duplicated. They have in their duet of guitarists the best of slide and electric and their interplay of these types is something to behold. The three drum/percussionists combo. is amazing, and the drum "solo" is unlike anything I've ever heard before. Don't miss them!!!

Widespread Panic opened with a solid play - they had to start at 6:30 because the Cynthia Woods Pavilion required all music (noise) to stop at 11pm. The Allman brothers were classic !. Great concert - BUT the venue was so strict - we could not stand in the aisle - we could not mingle in the parking lot - they were a downer ! I've seen the Allman Brothers 4 times- just about all with different lineups. This was the first with Derrick Trucks for me- the guy really fits in with the band and the History very well. Last night we were blessed with a few special treats because it was the last show of the tour. (Swapping of musicians with Widespread Panic). I was especially impressed with Jimmy Herring. Was kinda surprised that there was not much talk between songs- or even thank you's etc. I guess that's not so un-typical.. finally Warren Hanes spoke a bit. But the music did enough speaking of it's own.. great show, great musicianship. Greg sure isn't what he used to be though.. vocals waning a bit, and surprised to see a "back" up keyboardist at is back.. all in all a very good show- but I've seen better from them. These guys are hard working- most (including Panic) will be back out on the road before the end of the month- Warren Hanes takes Gov'nt Mule on the road touring their new studio album next week!

Never heard Widespread Panic before...they were ok. Our goal was to see the Allman Brothers and it was well worth it. After 40 years they are as great as they have always been. They could of played a few more Dickey Bettes songs but hey, after as long of a run that they have had I understand them wanting to mix things up some. The tribute to Allan Woody and Dwane Allman on the screen was really cool as they bled Derick Trucks onto the screen. It was an old/new kind of deal. The Allman Brothers are a must see for anyone that has never seen them.

Allmans played a great show..lots of folks sitting in..Susan Tedeski , most of Widespread Panic... Ron Holloway ripped up Southbound on the sax alongside of Jimmy Herring shreading on guitar ..Jimmy really smoked on the Widespread set ..Gov't Mule's Danny Louis played keys most of the Allman's set..Dr John's "Walk on Guilded Splinters" got the ABB treatment ..Stand Back was particularly Hot..Greg played Melissa on the acoustic with the rest of the band electric,,they worked Dazed and Confused into a Mt Jam to close the set..Whippin Post encore

Mr Warren Haynes? Whoa! Derek Trucks? Amazing! This was a night for guitar lovers . . . no question about it. More guitar? How about Susan Tedeschi too? Widespread Panic opened with a great 90 min (or so) set -- also fantastic licks, with Warren sitting in a couple of numbers. He is truly a guitar god! Hardest working guitarist in the known universe! Greg Allman was in great voice . . . just a really special rockin' night, with of course some old favs thrown in -- Melissa, Mountain Jam, Southbound and a truly truly awesome encore finale - a kick-ass version of Whipping Post, with a little bit of everything thrown in (was there Zep in there? I was laboring under a slightly altered consciousness to actually remember when I heard that) Great show -- fantastic Rock & Roll! keep on rockin' Allman Brothers!

Good show. Not one of their best though its always good to see them play. Greg, Butch and Jaimoe are all starting to really show their age. Greg's voice struggled to stay relevant and above the music. Butch and Jaimoe needed relief a couple of times during the show. Derek and Warren were in good form but it still kind of had the feeling they were mailing it in that night. But just hanging at the Beacon with the Allman crowd is always a treat. I do think its time that the "Road goes on Forever" be put to an end and the band leaves us with great memories of fabulous music and fun times.

What can I say? Certainly disappointed that Gregg was not there, no doubt about it. Was hoping the band would still put on a memorable show, and boy did they NOT disappoint! I can't remember a more "high energy" Brothers performance, further enhanced by guests like Jimmy Hall, Jr Mack, Susan Tedeschi, Jimmy Vivino who jumped into the fire as well. Revival closed out the first set with the whole audience singing along, and Black Hearted Woman, toward the end of the second set, may have been the single greatest number I ever say live (and I've seen a few). Hoping Gregg recovers his strength and voice soon so they can finish "the run."

Not really fair that my show wasn't postponed. As much as i can appreciate the muscianship between the guys on stage, especially Derek and Warren, I wanted to see Gregg one last time with these guys. Song selection wasn't that great which makes sense since Gregg wasn't there. Only 3 stars because i felt it was an average show. Most of the people around me were disappointed as well.
