The venue and line up were incredible!!! Over 115 years in the music business between 3 groups, unbeatable. The vibe in the crowd was also unforgettable. Please book Jah Spear and the Burning Band for next year's show at Red Rock!!!!

wow!!! another Reggae on the Rocks on the books. FUN show as usual. very HOT during first part of the day. The clouds rolled in & cooled things off after 3pm...but then came THE WIND!!! It was a horrible, relentless wind which unfortunately ended up closing shop for all the venders @ the top of venue. :( boo thank goodness the wind was SLIGHTLY better down within the seating. All the bands were FANTASTIC!! good vibe. & they REALLY "weathered the storm" :) It was a little sad that the crowd didn't. Can't blame 'em, with 95 degrees most of the day and then really horrible wind whipping @ them the rest. By the time LEGEND Michael Rose came on, the crowd had dwindled, and by the last 10 songs or so, maybe a few hundred remained!! :( too bad.--for THEM-- YAY! for us that stuck it out! everyone moved foward to the first 5 rows and it was very intimate. He played A LOT of Uhuru stuff!! It was a GREAT SHOW! I hope Mr. Rose wasn't too disappointed in the lack of crowd support... because those that were there, LOVED HIM!!!!

Sub-par..... AT BEST! Inner Circle and Michael Rose were outstanding, as they always are. Marty Dread was surprisingly entertaining. However, the rest of the line-up was mediocre at best. Collie Buddz should have been before Groundation and the Mystic Roots Band and their Fergie wanna be JUST SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN THERE!!! They were horrible. The best way describe them is a very average cover band. Almost the entire set was covers of others' music..... I have attended almost every Reggae on the Rocks since its inception and Bill Blass seems to have real trouble with getting the order of the artist line-up right! I am a true Reggae fan, so I will continue to attend in future years. I just hope the lineups (and the order of appearance) will improve a bit as there are a TON of new and old reggae acts out there that are never brought to perform at the Rocks.... Midnite, Daweh Congo, Pablo Moses, Jah Cure, Linval Thompson just to name a few........

Reggae on the Rocks was unorganized! There was no schedule posted online at all and I didn't want to spend 12 hours there. I wanted to see two bands which I missed because they played really early and no one was told who was playing now.

Stellar sound and the best venue in the world. Only issue I had with this year's event was that the lineup was weak on 'true' old school performers (no Wailers, no Yellowman, etc.), it was very heavy on a poppy sound this time. The venue was also far from being sold out so either the marketing is not what it needs to be or the lineup this year just wasn't as strong as previous years.

This concert is way too long. I think you guys should post the order of the bands beforehand because the offer was varied and I feel some people go as fans of specific bands. I personally missed Groundation because, to my surprise, they were one of the first bands. At the end of the concert you could tell people was leaving before it was over, they were super tired and were not really Michael Rose fans. I would say it was poorly planned.

The Reggae Fest was not all that organized. It was impossible to get the line up and time online prior to the show and then when we got there we could not find a line up. Also, would really appreciate Red Rocks bringing in Gluten Free beer, food and alcohol choices for those of us that have a gluten allergy. It is always very tough to find anything for a gluten free vegetarian to eat or drink when attending a concert. Too bad the wind blew us out!

the event overall is always amazing. the sun was shining and a nice cool breeze was blowing all day. the lesser known bands played for what seemed an eternity and the big names seemed to be rushed off the stage after one very short set and a couple of encore songs. only five bands played this year, which was very disappointing. still had a great time...beautiful people in a beautiful place!

Well... basically we waited 11 hours to see Steel Pulse. Having the doors open at 12 noon and the show end around 11pm or later is a complete waste. The show started with Dubstick at 12:30pm, and then ended with Steel Pulse at 9pm.... but all the time in the middle was filled up with WAITING and someones crappy iPod off and on between the other groups - Isreal Vibrations, Ky-Mani Marley, and Rebelution. But the entire show felt like ony 6 or 7 hours of those other groups. Waiting in between the groups was someones iPod and waiting, followed by more waiting. WITH NO RE-ENTRY - that means you are stuck in Red Rocks, with their food, their $7 drinks for basically 11 hours. Unless you wanted to skip Dubstick..... or I Vibs..... or Ky-Mani - all worth seeing. Next year, we should get a set schedule of bands, and re-entry so we can leave and get dinner, and come back for the band we wanted to see.

The entire show was amazing. I was sober even, if you can believe that. The only part I had an issue with was Rebelution. I do not like that band. Period. They are not reggae. They are barely even rock. I would call them a poppy wannabe Sublime, but Bradley would roll in his grave if he heard their brand of refined crap. So, no more Rebelution please, or any band like them. Otherwise, the show was a magical experience. Please continue doing what you do concerning this.

This was completely incredible. An amazing group of people in an incredible venue listening to some of the greats in the genre! The only thing that I would recommend, if you plan on being there all day, check out Red Rock's website on the things that you can bring in with you. We didn't bring food or anything, but you can bring whole meals in. ALSO DEFINITELY bring a blanket/chair. Sitting for 10 hours on hard concrete isn't the most amazing thing for your back. Over all though, back pain and all, it was totally worth it!! Best time ever!!!

Wow, what can you say. Red Rocks is awesome. The bands were really good, Meditations classic roots awesomeness, Judge Roughneck fun reggae rock ska, Rebelution pretty fly for a white guy, BUT **STEEL PULSE** WAS MASSIVE SOUND - THAT WHOLE PLACE WAS JUMPIN, THE BEATS WERE THUMPIN, THE REGGAE WAS **HOT** !!! Then of course BURNING SPEAR. I mean, c'mon. How could you not love this? General admission, mostly hung out up top, room to spread out and s k a n k. View from up there is mind blowing, and the sound still top notch in row 60. Made it down to the front for most of Spear and it is really groooovy up close too.

I arrived at around 4:20 pm so I missed the first band in the line-up. When the third band the Meditations came out, the audience started filling the seats and you could feel the energy of the mass of bodies. Laser lights were being sold and distributed as colors filled the auditorium. The Meditations played two versions of "Stir it Up" back to back, as it is always essential to pay tribute to Bob Marley at a reggae show. When Steel Pulse came out, it was the typical high-energy positive vibe that makes them a favorite to see anytime they come to the Denver/Boulder area. They played their usual jams and paved the way for the headliner, Burning Speer. Having never had the chance to experience Burning Speer in my repertoire of reggae, I hardly believed that anyone could have been more suitable to headline than Steel Pulse. I was, however, pleasantly surprised. The bantor between the crowd and the band were refreshing. I see at least one show at Red Rocks every year and they are all amazing, but nothing compares to the diverse reggae crowd. If you can only make one show at Red Rocks a year, Reggae on the Rocks is the true experience :)

The line-up was good, but the fact that the show was almost sold out and the seats were only half full goes to show just how many tickets go to scalpers and ticket services. The week of the event, there were no tickets available online through Red Rocks, yet the seats were no where near full. The lines of scalpers selling tickets at all entrances and the number of websites selling tickets for a mark-up can certainly explain this. The lack of full seats cut down on the energy level and tuned an otherwise stellar show into a somewhat lackluster energy experience.

I enjoyed the show it was my first time at the venue. One thing I did not like about the event was that I was not allowed to bring my cooler full of sandwiches and water into the venue. I had to leave it at the door and throw it away before security checked me. Great event! However, I know that California/hawaii reggae/rock fills the seats but there needs to be a balance between that kind of reggae/rock and roots reggae. I enjoyed myself but could not help but notice that in the last two years Reggae on the Rocks has slowly moved away from a Reggae concert to a Rock/Reggae concert. Maybe balance it out at 50% ??

How can you beat 9 hours of pure reggae all in one show, totally awesome! See you next year. Seating was general admission so you could sit anywhere you wanted....just try to get there before 4pm cause after that, seats fill up and you'll have to sit higher up. I remember when Reggae on the Rocks was a 2-day festival - judging from the crowd on Saturday night, I think it could be again. It was a great atmosphere - no fights, nobody spilling beer on me - just a lot of very happy music lovers dancing and enjoying themselves. We usually sit down front at Red Rocks, but decided to sit up high so we could see what that is like, and also because we arrived late, at about 7 pm. The scenery is great up high, and it's nice being so close to the restrooms and food (when they had food...) The sound was surprisingly good considering the distance from the stage, and the large screen gave us some closeups. It is far less crowded up top. As nice as it was, I think next time we'll go earlier and sit down front to see better (depending on the lineup). I think the lineup could be improved - it used to be better! Steel Pulse and Burning Spear are legends, and they were great - we really enjoyed them, but we really weren't interested in the rest of the lineup (although I did like Rebelution). Please bring back the Marley brothers (Damien, Stephen, and Kymani would be excellent), and bring us current reggae, such as Protoje, Capleton, Morgan Heritage, Mavado, Tarrus Riley, Beenie Man, Konshens, Anthony B, Sean Paul, Romaine Virgo, Cecile, I-Octane, etc. (just some suggestions!) I think an improved lineup and 2-day format would bring in more out-of-town visitors to this amazing venue. This is a great place to hear reggae, and it's nice to have the vendors up top (but I think they used to have Jamaican food up there - I didn't see any this year). Speaking of food, they ran out, and there were no vegan options, other than potato chips. Some veggie hot dogs would be an easy thing to add, I would think, or hummus wraps. Next time we'll bring our own.

It was our first year and we will be back next year. Everyone was so nice and friendly. We were in the parking lot having drinks meeting people. Then when the first band hit the stage I dont think i sat down very much after that.

We loved the roots nature of the line-up. Meditations' harmonies were sweet, Steel Pulse was energizing, tight, together; amazing harmonies. Burning Spear is the revered icon of reggae - and yet, he could follow Steel Pulse with transcendent energy of his own, taking it just one notch higher. Very conscious, peaceful and friendly crowd. The only negative is the cigarette smoke! Red Rocks! Please ban cigarettes!

I've been going to this concert for the past several years, and it's gone from an all-day event Saturday AND Sunday, to an all-day event ONLY on Saturday, to just an afternoon event on Saturday. Each year it seems there's less and less to get excited about, but this year (2011) Inner Circle was appearing. I saw them the last time they were here, and they rocked the house in a thunderstorm, no less. This time they don't look OR sound anything like the band that sings 'BAD BOYS.' I was so disappointed!!!! I just hope that there will even be a Reggae on the Rocks a few years from now, because this event has definitely seen better days!!!!

My God. I thought I would die from the heat, I had a salt ring around my shirt because I was sweating so much, the music was so, so. I guess it was alright. Def not worth the money IMO. That was my first and last time.

Each year for Reggae on the Rocks there are less and less vendors. This year was a real bummer! Food choices were limited to two choices. We always look forward to buying things and the merchandise was sub par! They all sold the same same Bob Marley t shirts! The music was good, not exciting though and not alot of people. The inside restaurant and bar closed at 5pm! People want to relax and have some food and drinks at an all day event! One tiny area with 4 crummy cocktail tables and 6 chairs for the whole amphitheater just doesn't cut it! It seems to me that whomever was in charge this year considered this concert an afterthought!

Awesome reggae festival, lived up to my expectations. Only change i would expect would be for them to bring some big name acts like the Marley Sons. Great overall !
