In my efforts to see the legends before they leave us I saw Liza Minnelli at Davies Symphony Hall. She did not perform with the symphony but rather her own band. I had wondered how she would do considering how fragile she had looked at The Oscars. Liza walked out in her signature black pants and off the shoulder top. She had a very long red scarf that almost touched the ground. There were times I was concerned she would step on the scarf and fall. Thankfully this never happened. She started the first song center stage and then walked over to the piano, which moved a bit when she leaned on it. She made a comment about it, which made the audience laugh. She dragged her director s chair to center stage and sat down. I couldn t believe she didn t have someone to do this for her, but maybe it was part of her shtick. Again I was concerned that long scarf was going to be an issue. I thought she might choke herself with it as she sat down. Finally her piano player took the scarf and placed in on the piano. For the most part Liza s voice was solid, but she did struggle with some of the big notes. She would pause to take a drink of water before trying to hit the notes saying she wanted to really hit it for us. While she didn t hit them she definitely entertained and charmed the audience with her performance.

Seeing Liza Minnelli perform for the first time was an incredible opportunity! She sang her heart out and truly connected with the audience. At times her voice was a bit rough, dry but as a true professional, she would stop....giggle and say, no..no..lets do this right, then hit the notes right on! A very engaging performance, wish it would have lasted more than an hour. Hope to see her again!!

I didn't go into this concert expecting to see Liza at her vocal best. I knew she wouldn't be belting those big notes at perfect pitch. More than anything, I wanted to see this great performer perform. And did she ever! The show was 40 minutes late starting, due to a technical difficulty (made evident by some crackling speakers during the performance), but she came over the loudspeaker to assure us that she was "chomping at the bit" to get on stage. We were seated in section M and enjoyed the show from that spot despite a very rude and inconsiderate group two rows in front of us who (thanks to several bottles of wine) talked relentlessly and somehow thought we had all payed to hear them sing as well. Despite her expected vocal limitations and a broken shoulder, the show was fantastic. She opened with Alexander's Ragtime Band - an homage to her mother. She sang some old favorites and some new tunes, but she gave every song her all. The lyrics quite literally became her own. Her interpretation of a several songs was so intimate and moving that I felt I was eavesdropping on a private conversation or journal. Her rapport and bond with the audience was palpable. So while her voice is no longer in it's prime, this is by far one of (if not the best) concert I've ever attended. Her loving praise and tributes to Marvin Hamlisch - her "oldest best friend" who passed away last week - were touching. What an honor to see a product and self-professed 'student' of old hollywood - a true pro - in a venue like the Bowl. She closed with a (very brave) a capella rendition of "I'll Be Seeing You" - so heartfelt and loving that it moved me to tears. Liza is a class act, what an unforgettable evening.

Whatever bad things Liza has done in the past she has overcome. Her voice was amazing and the only thing I missed was her strutting across the stage, reduced by her hip replacement surgery. She should bottle and sell her recipe for energy. It was nice to see Billy Stritch is still with her. I knew Billy when he played in the clubs in Houston back in the 80's and as I remarked to my friend when she introduced him, he's come a long way baby. The orchestra was also top notch and obviously part of Liza's family. Good luck to her.

LIza is still Liza , What a show woman, like her mother but LIza has great heart, passion and love. I love her. She was great with the old favorites, "Caberet. "She left them standing with "New York,New York". The new songs had less jazz and didn't due her justice. She ia a great talent.! We must remember time has past and it plays on us ALL. But LIza is still LIza. What a heart ! I loved it!!!

Liza is a master. She electrified us all with Cabaret, New York, New York, Maybe This Time and World Goes Round. In between she totally melted us with "He's Funny That Way", "If I Had You" and Peter Allen's "All the Lives of Me" to mention a few. I think she is absolutely at the top of her game. Her musical director, Billy Stritch, knows how to accent all her positives and the show line up was perfection. I highly recommend Liza's new show. She sang like a woman who is very much in love.

This concert was terrific - Liza is in better shape and better voice than I had expected. The only drawback is the rude unruly crowd. I am all for audience participation, but I was stuck next to a woman who was so offensive that the 3 people in front of her left at intermission rather than subject themselves to the pain of the decibel level that she attained. Not only did she add her volume to the rest of the audience but also insisted on shouting over Liza's conversations. The theater should do a better job of monitoring and removing audience members who are too unruly. Liza doesn't dance and move around like she used to but is still a hell of a performer.

LIZA is an amazing performer! This was my first time getting to see her live. Great seats at the Bowl. From what they tell me she had stripped down her Broadway show from the Palace and added a few new things. The true testament is the fact that there are some guys in her orchestra who have been performing with her for 33 yrs. Two curtain calls and a standing ovation. And yes I bought one of the two concert posters. Had to. Great night. Bravo LIZA Bravo.

I must admit, that my expectations was low and I was not prepared to, what was a FANTASTIC evening with Liza Minnelli. She's charming, funny, lovely and her voice was really good. With a number of good songs and a really excited audience, Liza delivered a very memorable concert on August 29th at The Hollywood Bowl. If I could only remember all the lyrics to "New York, New York"...I would still be singing and humming it. Liza is one of only 3 TRUE diva's left on this planet. Liza Minnelli, Barbra Streisand and Bette Midler. Go, go GIRLS.

Liza's still got it! I thought she was in even better form last night than when I saw her ten years ago during the 'Liza's Back' tour. However...I did prefer the 'Liza's Back' set list to last nights - she didn't sing as many of my favorites. She was her old funny self...all her wits about her...so charming and humble...there's that obvious vulnerability that makes you root for her even more...the love for her in that audience was palpable...as was her love for her fans. She can still belt out the ballads...though it left her breathless at times. She made jokes about it...but the crowd wasn't in any hurry...and cheered for her to take her time. People may knock her for not dancing or having the endurance...but taking into account what she's overcome...the fact that she's standing on stage singing at all is a credit to her and it thrills me just to have the chance to see her live again. Liza's still fabulous!

Liza Minnelli gave truly unforgettable performance. She was bit nervous in the beginning, but in the second part of the concert she just opened up and sang her signature songs such as "Cabaret" and "New York New York". Ms. Minnelli is a true American Legend and I would recommend anyone who loves her art go any see her perform life. Her voice is not the same but her aura and her vivacious personality is still the same.

I last saw Liza in concert four years ago. It was an embarrassingly bad performance. So it was with more than some trepidation that I bought tickets to see her again at Morongo Casino outside of Palm Springs, CA. The venue left a lot to be desired, but once Liza walked out onstage, I was in for a surprise! Her voice is back and stronger than ever. She may not be able to hold a note as long as she used to, and her arrangements have been modified to avoid the highest notes. But gone is the "shh-shh" speach impediment of her recent singing. She swung for the fences and knocked it out of the park on every single number. I lost count of the number of standing ovations this woman received. There were glimpses of her mother and the Liza of 30 years ago. No one today does what Liza does. And she is doing it better than ever!

Liza Minnelli is no stranger to the Gulf Coast, having performed in pre-Katrina Biloxi at the Beau Rivage Theatre and in New Orleans at the Mahalia Jackson and Saenger Theatres. Her early New Orleans concert at the former around 1980 was captured by HBO and features Liza at the peak of her career. Liza at the IP Hotel and Casino on July 24th was just short of miraculous, given the singer's health issues, rehab, and very limited mobility. She acknowledged to the very supportive, largely LGBT audience that she owes them her life. Certainly Liza could not have given more in this show, even if she had to remain seated for most of the 90 minutes. She had excellent support from two of her "Boys" from 2009's "Liza At The Palace": Jim Caruso and Cortes Alexander. They dueted in a tribute to Kay Thompson, Liza's godmother. Liza sang most of her repertoire of signature songs, occasionally taking breath and sips of water breaks. She proved, she clearly still owns her icon status!

Liza's die hard fans all showed up to give her 100% of their love. Inspiring. The audience was electric before she set a foot on the stage. All remember and appreciate Liza's 30 year PRIME (1966 to 1996) in which she delivered spot, emotional, spectacular vocal performances (check 'em out on You Tube) of incredibly wonderful but insanely demanding vocal material (Cabaret, New York New York, But the World Goes Round, Maybe This Time....). Liza has been through plenty over the years (recently broke her back and has had numerous knee and hip surgeries. Importantly, she had vocal chord surgery in 1997 after Victor Victoria on Broadway, almost took her ability to sing away). But she fought back. She is now age 69. Liza got standing ovations after just about every song. Wonderful night for LIza as she saw how much her fans will always love her.

Knowing her history and that she isn't the girl she once was and couldn't "bust a move" across the stage anymore. I knew that I wasn't going to see her dancing and moving a lot due to her hip and back surgeries. But I did know that her voice was still going to be there and I was going to love hearing her sing. And I did!!! She was very impressive and put on a fabulous performance for her history. I am so glad that she was in good health to be able to make it and give it her all. I was especially glad that I got to enjoy it with my dearest friends - who are bigger fans - and see the light in their eyes. A great weekend was had by all. Thanks again to LIZA with a "Z" not Lisa with an "S" for giving it her all! We love her!!!

Liza Minnelli came "back" with a vengeance on Friday night before a sell-out crowd. Nothing short of a "love-fest" where she could do no wrong. Billy Stritch opened the show with 4 or 5 great tunes, then LIza came out & did 90 minutes without a break - Truly amazing. Great set list, good mix of her standards, as well as some more obscure tunes, but whatever she did, she had the audience in her hands. Sure, she can't hit all the "big" notes anymore, & she forgot some lyrics, but all was forgiven instantly by her adoring fans. We helped her with lyrics, gave her at least 10 standing ovations though the concert, & one of the longest ovations for an encore I had ever been a part of. Eerily, if you looked the right way, in the right light, she looked to be channeling her mother - hand gestures, body language, etc.Liza would never consciously imitate Judy, I'm sure, but I almost felt like I was at Judy's legendary show at Carnegie Hall. Truly an amazing evening.

Forget the image you saw of Liza at the Oscars...she was ALIVE and VERY WELL at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Given her recent birthday of 68 years...she STILL has the stamina and can "sell a song" like no one else! She always maintains that self-deprecating sense of humor...and judging by the crowd...most of us can identify with her ailments to one degree or another. Put that aside...she was in GREAT VOICE and was "obviously" having a great time! YOU COULD FEEL THE ENERGY...ALL POSITIVE! She sang every song that you love...and her personal favorite, MAYBE THIS TIME! Oh my stars and garters, she kept the audience enthralled with each deft interpretation of the lyrics. You feel like you're "getting the message" for the very first time! BRAVO LIZA...you keep going! Your Momma would (and is) very proud of you and so are WE!

Unfortunately, Liza has lost it. As much as she tried, the pipes are not there any more. She was huffing and puffing. After every song, people around me were saying she needed oxygen. She had to stop several time on her signature song to catch her breath, get a drink or rest. It made me very anxious and uncomfortable to see her struggle like that. Had waited a lifetime to see Liza and was shocked and surprised to see she was doing one concert while we were on vacation in Miami for our anniversary. Had seen her on Queen Latifa show advertising her upcoming tour (one concert in Florida--then a month later another somewhere else hardly makes a tour). She didn't seem well on TV. It was even worse in person. She said that she hurt her foot at the pool that day and need to sit down for the concert. We couldn't care less if she sat the entire time---cause she started out sounding AMAZING. But as the concert went forward, she made excuse after excuse about sitting, seemed confused, DRUGGED and very very out of it. I kept thinking, why isn't she stopping to drink any water? And the last quarter of the concert she paid for that---she had to continually stop, drink water, wasn't able to finish songs without long breaks in between----it was unbearable uncomfortable for the audience who loves her. She is too far gone to come back and that is truly truly a shame because the first part of the concert---she sounded AMAZING. Even better in person than on CD. What a waste of amazing talent. It left us feeling sad and that we'd watched a legend who was just too far past her time and nobody around to tell her 'don't do it'. Her band, however, was UNREAL. She clearly had the best of the best on stage with her including her long-time piano player.

I'd never seen Ms. Minnelli perform on stage before... Wow! She can really sing! In spite of injuring her ankle earlier in the day, she "danced" from her chair on which she sat and performed most of the event. If was cute to watch her feet/legs in the air as though she was dancing on her feet. With a few water breaks mid-song, she could really belt those notes out! I can't believe she can still sing that well.

Liza is amazing. She does not need a big production. She relies only on her talent which fills up the entire venue. It felt like you were in her house or a small intimate bar and just chatting and singing around the grand piano. It's the 3rd time I've seen her in 20 years and she is only better.

Liza fills the stage with her great ability. Her range is not what it used to be, but she sure can sell a song. Her throat problems from her time on the Broadway stage in Victor/Victoria have never gone away. On a few of her bigger numbers she had to try a few times to hit the notes. All in all it was a great evening and people should see her if they never had or even if they have seen her several times like myself. Liza you are still a bright shining star!!!

I enjoyed Liza. I saw her a few years back when she did her show at the Palace in NYC. That was an amazing show. She was in very good form then vocally. This time? Eh. Not so much. I'll give it to her for getting up there and still performing, but quite frankly stopping midway through "New York New York" because you were rushing, i.e. had to catch your breath, well just is a little over the top. Still, I had fun. It was a hoot to see her, but do not expect her to be able to hit or maintain any of the notes.

Her show was show business at it's best. A tight band...phrasing of the lyrics simply Liza, and the love of her audience inspiring. The voice isn't all there anymore...but it doesn't matter...Liza is Liza. From the beginning...she asked that the house lights be turned up so she could see her audience. She owned the audience after that. It's a little sad to see her sitting so much in a director's chair...but she was there - performing...Thanks Liza!

Although the concert was shorter than I'd hoped (not quite 90 minutes), Liza brought out her old standards and some new songs. She's clearly not at her physical best - needed to sit during some numbers - but she's from the "old school" and pulls out all the stops to perform. There are a lot of current artists that could learn from her. Each number has a performance aspect to it - especially apparent in Charles Aznavour's "What Makes a Man a Man" - which apparently annoyed some audience members because they left right afterwards. Further disappointed in the audience's behavior - many left after her final number - and I think she only did 1 encore because of this. Some of her big notes are not quite what they were, but I felt I got more than my money's worth in the overall performance. Her musical director, Billy Stritch, who also performs solo and in a duet with Liza, is also an amazing musician.

Liza can still keep an audience mesmerized. I might be prejudice since I have been a fan for many years (only concert I have been to where I could lip sync every number). theater was perfect, lighting sound all prime. Only down side since it was so good the time went entirely too fast.

Liza put on a good show however, you could see she struggled. Her voice was weak. No matter I'm a fan. She should think about a farewell tour and end on a positive note.

I just went to see Liza last weekend, and she was fantastic. True, her voice is not what it was 20 years ago, but still sounded good and was very emotional with each song. After the first song, she asked for the house lights to be turned up so she could see everyone. She did the hits "Teach Me Tonight", "Liza with a 'Z'", "Maybe This Time", "Cabaret", and "New York, New York". The show wasn't long, maybe an hour and 20 minutes. She was very interactive with the audience, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Liza is a legend, and not to be missed.

The Liza Minnelli show was shorter than expected given her body of work. The show was about an hour including one song by her bandleader. Ms. Minnelli looked unsteady and out of breath during the entire show and her enunciation was muddled. I was also surprised by the number of people in the crowd (which tended to elderly) that began to file out about midway through the event.

Liza still has it....she can do no wrong. In an unforgettable night of music with the splendid Alan Cumming, showmanship was displayed all throughout the evening. Terrific song choices and a crackerjack band keep things hot and moving! Cumming was a huge surprise show off a wide vocal range and riotous stories that had us in stitches. Liza was great bringing the audience to its feet after after almost all her numbers. Ring Them Bells brought the house down and the songs from Cabaret at the end of the night put the icing on a perfect cake! Do more concerts like this!!!!

An amazing pairing of personalities and styles. Alan opened with a very unique choice of songs and was very at ease with conversation. What can be said about the amazing Miss Minelli - after all the years, she gave her everything and it was appreciated each and every time by the audience who adored her.

Liza showed that she appreciates her audience, and for that, as well as for her talent, we love her. During a lengthy 40-minute wait for the show to begin because the sound system was not working properly, Liza made an announcement to let us know that she was there and wanted to be out there with us. When she came on, she apologized for the delay and for having to occasionally sit down during the show because she had a broken shoulder. There were some moments when she couldn't quite hit the notes she used to belt out, and there were some when her voice was as full and beautiful as ever. But throughout the entire show, working without intermission, Liza gave us her all. She sent love out, and we sent it back, and it was everything we want in a concert -- it was joy and beauty and camaraderie and bravery and nostalgia. And when she was reaching for some of those notes, we were so happy so sing them out with her. We shared her memories and her losses, including Marvin Hamlisch's recent passing. And we celebrated her amazing family and friendships. We love Liza because she has shared herself and her life with us, always. Thank you, Liza.

Liza Minnelli has performing before adoring audiences in her legendary genes and enraptured Bowl audience was in for a rare treat...mentioning passing of childhood friend Marvin Hamlish, easy to see Liza was missing a friend and wanted to share some of these moments with her audience so overall evening had a low-key feeling but strong moments thrilled like a stunning "What Makes A Man A Man" or the soaring "Shine On Harvest Moon" taken from engrossing new CD release "Liza Live At The Wintergarden", legendary Broadway Show from the seventies...audience was brilliantly taken back to this event with a socko performance of "Shine On Harvest Moon" that brought the sold-out audience to its feet! Ending "I'll Be Seeing You" was a gorgeous vocal and the enchanted evening came to and end...Long Live LiZa!

Liza Minnelli is a national treasure....She looked gorgeous and the band cooked. Though the voice is not what it once was (on the top big notes) EVERYONE should see her. She is a wonderful actress and tells great stories. The softer ballads and sing/talk/act songs were the best, full of emotion and feeling. She is truly an original and there is no one like her. She is Old Hollywood and real Hollywood royalty. How many people can you say that about today. So, she is like Sinatra...in the later years you went to SEE, Sinatra not to hear him sing. I wish she would do a show of just ballads. The voice would be perfect for that. Liza will always be a winner!

Due to technical difficulties, the event started 40 minutes late! I was very disappointed with the Hollywood Bowl and actually saw people leave the venue because of the late start. Liza is amazing, she is legendary, but she isn't the same performer as she once was. She commented throughout the show that her shoulder was still healing and "from the waist up, I'm daughter of Dorothy; from the waist down, I'm the Tin Man's daughter" - referring to the surgery on her foot and both hips. I deeply respect her as an artist, but feel that she's no-longer the high energy cabaret dancing and singing sensation.

Liza's still got it, but unfortunately there was a problem with the sound that delayed the concert 30 minutes. Liza really wanted to come out and put on a show, but instead I think the sound issue threw the whole thing off. She didn't take an intermission, and so the show seemed a bit shorter. Also, there were still lots of crackles and pops in the sound during the show. Still, it was great to see and hear Liza do some great standards and hits. I would definitely recommend seeing her on a night without sound issues!

This was a night club type show, so in such a large venue as The Hollywood Bowl, Liza was lost in the vastness of the stage. Mostly lit by one spot, the fabulous lighting that can happen at the bowl was wasted. The worst was that she asked to be able to see the audience so the flood lights were brought up that faced the crowd. Then we REALLY could not see her. And one of the greatest aspects of the bowl, being under the stars was lost. Her last two songs were divine but overall, she was slow, out of voice, and seemed tired.

what can i say? liza is liza (with a 'z'.) yes, she's old. she's fun. she takes a while to warm up; more so than some of her older fellow entertainers. but by about 30 mins in, she hits her stride and still sounds remarkably good considering what she's survived. she tells fun stories. i wish there'd been a little more of that. but all in all, a good time if you love old hollywood. the warm summer night at the bowl itself was gorgeous as always.

The show started 45 minutes late due to "sound system difficulties". Ms. Minelli's performance appeared to be hampered by probable illness (coughing and respiratory problems) and possibly other issues. Ms. Minnelli insisted on several occassions that the spot lights on the audience be lit and kept on which interferes with viewing the large screens. You end up looking directly into the large lights while trying to watch the screens. Ms. Minnelli also advised the audience she was suffering from some physical injuries (knee, ankle and shoulder) and made a production of dragging around a director's chair. If we hadn't been caught in the stacked parking, we would have left the show shortly after Ms. Minnelli began her performance. It was the worst performance by any artist we have seen at the Bowl.

Liza 's show was disappointing. Show began 40 minutes late. She seemed exhausted. Said she had a broken shoulder. Difficult to understand because of her breathing difficulty due to the injury, I presume. I loved her 3 years ago at the bowl. She is an icon and an adorable person. I've loved her forever.

It was wonderful to see a Legend live in concert. Sure, Liza isn't as good as she used to be but who is when they get older? She was out of breath after the first song and she sat down a lot during her set but the woman is an incredible entertainer! Even sitting down Liza has enough charisma to light up the whole theater. I'm glad I got to see her live. I wished she performed longer, the concert lasted for about an hour, but it was worth every penny.

I first saw Liza in 1972.This is not that Liza. Can anyone say they are the same after all these years.Still I found the evening very entertaining.Like hanging out with an old friend. We are both a little worse for wear. She had trouble hitting some of the high notes, but the slow songs such as Charles Aznavours'"What makes a Man a Man" were pure magic and justified her legendary status.Bless you Liza.

This was a really sad and disappointing experience for me. I have been a fan of Liza Minnelli since I saw her in Cabaret and Liza With a Z in the 1970's. She was truly a remarkable performer who was beyond comparison. But at this show, her voice was completely shot. She could barely even keep in tune, let alone hit any of the notes she is famous for. When she was singing "Cabaret", her voice cracked on a big note and she stopped and said "hey guys, I can do better than that!". She should have left it alone, her 2nd and 3rd attempts were even worse. I will say that her phrasing remains impeccable, and she is truly a great actress, these 2 facts came through even in her worst vocal moments. From now on, I will stick to my DVD collection when I want to enjoy the greatness that USED TO BE Liza MInnelli.

Although you love her and want her to succeed, it's really time for Liza to hang it up. You've gotta admire all she's come back from, and of course she's incredibly personable, however her voice is gone, her ankle was broken, and worst of all her music was very very obscure. Of course she did a few favorites - NY NY was one - but the rest...kinda noisy

Since the age of 5, when my parents took me to Las Vegas with them and we saw her perform at the Sahara Hotel, Liza has always been one of my favorite performers. I have seen her twice since then, both times at Carnegie Hall. This concert, however, was much more than a disappointment; we were MORTIFIED. Not only couldn't she hit any high notes, (which I can forgive), but she couldn't remember lyrics or even the order of her songs, Thank God Billy Stritch kept coaching her on what to sing. The concert lasted 1 hr. and 20 mins., when it should have been a 2 hour concert. She cut her show short by 35 mins. All my life, I was a devoted fan of hers, but now I have to cringe at the thought of her last concert. She is a legend, and she should hang up her microphone for good, while the wonderful memories still shine. We paid good money to see Liza and we felt cheated. We will never see another concert at the Bardavon again.
