An amazing show by two of my favorite DJs, playing an all vinyl set from the legendary Afrika Bambastaas very own collection!

Illist , def-ist, dope-ist, real-ist, sik-ist show on the 1's and 2's. A hip hop history lesson in its truest form. A Grammy worthy performance live and in person.

Both DJ's were awesome, and I have never seen two at once. BIG Sounds! All who attended were challenged by HUGE Protests going in the same area as the concert. Well worth the bravery.

The concept of this show is amazing. Two awesome dj's digging the crates of a massive and historic record collection to put together a history lesson on hip hop. I appreciated the narration by the dj's for some of the tracks, but the energy from either us in the audience of from themselves was neutral. For a listener, it would have been better to have a booth to sit down and enjoy the show, rather than wobble back and forth watching them use their skills. And if I was a breaker, then I would have been kind of mad at the minimal attempt to get a break circle going towards the end of the show. The DJ's didn't loop the breaks at all, but rather cut to a new break, never giving dancers a chance to get any rhythm. All in all, I enjoyed their synchronized turntablism and collaborative efforts. It appeared to me that they never looked at each other during the show as they were totally in sync with their performance. If Bambatta had been there, that would have been even more historic.

I've been following shadow since 90's and cut chemist as long. I came expecting their signature sounds and left with a musical experience unmatched. Brought me back to the days of my high school when I would steal my families old records and rock in soulful bliss. I got goos bumps literally when they announced the set plan. I was smiling and grooving the entire time. I didn't want it to end.

this tour in and of itself was so incredibly special. 6 turntables, 2 of the greatest DJs ever to grace the stage, and hundreds of the most hallowed vinyl on their swan song made for an unforgettable and transcendent musical experience. DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist were immaculate, performing seamlessly together like it was 1995. no laptops, all live mixing, with commentary and narration the whole time for historical context. this sort of show will never happen again, i'm just glad i was able to catch Shadow on such a unique tour. not upset at all that they didn't play any of their own music, Bambaataa's collection was extensive and wonderful enough that even the most hardened Shadow fan couldn't help but bob his head and offer respect.

when i bought tickets to this event, i didn't read the fine print, being a fan of both shadow and chemist - so i was completely surprised when shadow took the time to explain to the audience at the beginning of the set what was really going on... suffice it to say, i would go to this every night of the week if i could and i would drag along anyone who likes any kind of dance music, so that they too might understand how it all came together (in the BRONX)! thank you DJs for putting your skills to such an awesome and important use and making the party way better than the present. with rioting going on outside it was an honor to be at an event that honors african american (and all) cultures, mixed together for fun and commentary the way they oughta be!

DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist are masters of their craft and they definitely rocked the Palladium. The night was an homage to Afrika Bambaataa, and they spun all his classic cuts. Bodies were moving, and the vibe was right. It was a good crowd, the Palladium is always awesome (good sight lines everywhere, plenty of bars so no long wait for booze), and security was chill. Good times!

I enjoyed the DJ set and tribute to Bambaataa. I would have liked it to have been a bit longer though. The main DJ set was only about 1.5hrs and was over by 12. I don't know what happened to the opening set.

You don't see this stuff anymore; DJs are up there just triggering sounds with the push of a button. It was amazing to see that turntable artistry once more not to mention a circle for the B-Boys and GIrls to do their thing. Not two, not four but 6 turntables were utilized to create a solid unrelenting mix using Afrikaa Bambaata's personal record collection. They did him proud!

What an amazing show. Hearing two of the worlds best vinyl DJ's playing the music of a legend, Afrika Bambaataa, will never be replicated. A definite must see.

The Skyway theater is set up a little different than other venues. Converted from an old movie theater, the area before the stage slopes upwards. It seems a little weird at first, but since it does this, people standing at the back of the auditorium can actually see the show rather clearly. The sound system seemed like it could use a little balance. DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist put on a great show. For this tour they are playing the Afrika Bambaataa collection, which is seriously as much a history lesson as it is a musical experience. The set would not seem out of place at an art museum. Which is awesome.

I'm a huge fan of DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist, but was very disappointed that they were doing a tribute show to Afrika Bambaata. I was looking forward to seeing them spin their own tunes and it didn't happen. If I would have known that this was the show I wouldn't have attended.

In this era of canned/computerized "hip-hop", which basically is bland and boring, this show was a breath of fresh air, a true ray of sunshine. Actually it was frickin' incredible, possibly a once in a lifetime even. Shadow and Chemist, each with 3 turntables and the entire Afrika Bambatta album library at their fingertips put on a show like no other. No MC's, nothing fancy, just incredible music by two of the best in the biz. Go see this show!

Hands down, one of the tops shows I've seen. Shadow and Cut chemist kill it on this tour. If your a fan of the origins of hip hop, of old school breaks, vinyl, scratch DJ's, and Bamabatta you don't want to miss this show.

What a wonderful tribute to Afrika Bambaataa. They did a great job making it about the music and not promotion them selves as DJ's pr their own music. This was quite the experience.

It was absolutely insane. The mixer of different 70's and 80's music was amazing. It was hip hop in it purest form.

While I would have loved to hear Shadow / Chemist play originals -- this show blew my mind. I called in sick next day to try and process the ridonkulous display of Tandem DJing, scratching, mixing - I mean it was the best of that genre I have EVER seen. Highest possible recommendation from a Live Music junkie!

This wasn't just two turntablism geniuses playing together. This was documentary being performed live, covering the music of many times and regions, as captured by Afrika Bambaataa. The music was fantastic, as were the visuals. I really liked how they introduced different sets that had a specific time or location.
